When the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire of the Aztec, a Spanish general went to explore the northern lands of New Spain. He and his troops came to a place where an ash tree stood at the edge of a lake. They decided to name the place Fresnillo. In the times following the Conquest, they named the land where Fresnillo was located the state of Zacatecas because it was abundant in grass. While a town was being built in Fresnillo some miners were out near the lake when a mule came from the west. The mule carried a giant wooden crate on its back. The miners decided to take the crate off the mule for a little while so it could rest and drink water. However, once the miners removed the crate the mule ran away leaving the miners the wooden crate. When the miners opened the crate they were shocked to find a silver crucified Christ with no cross. The general ordered a church be built across the valley and named the city Plateros, because that is where the silver Christ was discovered. The general then ordered an image of Our Lady of Atocha to be brought from Spain to Plateros. The image was put in the church of Saint Agustine along with the silver Christ. In those years silver was discovered in Fresnillo and mines were being built in the mountains near the settlement. When in a few weeks of the opening of the mine of Fresnillo, there was an explosion and many miners were trapped. The wives of the miners went to the church of St. Augustine to pray for their husbands and noticed that the child on the image of Our Lady of Atocha was missing. At the same time in the mine a child was said to come to the miners, given them water and showed them the way out of the mine. Whenever there was a problem at the mine the child was said to help those miners in need. Each time this happened, the image of the child on the Virgin’s arms was found to be dirty and his clothes had little holes in them. After that the Holy Child was taken of his mother’s arms and put on a glass box for everyone to see. Saint Atocha has become a symbol of Zacatecas and the protector of miners. The window on the bus we rode from Fresnillo to Plateros had a cracked window. I took this picture and was suprised to see how it turned out.

Officers went to a room at the Highlander Motor Inn, 4353 W. Beltline, just after 3 a.m. Thursday after getting a call about a disturbance there. A 59-year-old Madison man, George M. Baugh, greeted them with a can of Olde English beer in one hand and a stab wound in the other, police said.

I used Photoshop express to edit the image, seems to be a good program and I recommend it to anyone that needs an online image editing option.

My progression through the company was starting as an e-business consultant working with external clients developing sites that allowed them to expand business onto the web. I next was moved as an internal resource with the title of Programmer/Analyst. I developed internal applications specifically within financial reporting, practice management, risk mitigation and customer satisfaction. About a year ago I was moved into the position of Senior Programmer\Analyst, which was basically the same job, just more of it. I had some projects that I was working on that I really wanted to be a part of, but this opportunity came up and I couldn’t refuse it.

My new position means many changes for me, most notably a longer commute, twice the miles! This doesn’t mean much since it’s about 16 miles each way. With traffic this takes me 30-60 minutes. The company I am working for is smaller, about 40 people, but does have a larger development team I am a part of, which mean more opportunities.

That’s about it for now…

To tell the truth I don’t really drink that much coffee, but I drink water at work and put it in a Styrofoam cup. I noticed that after a few days, the cups get weak and I have to get a new one and started to wonder if the chemicals are getting into my body. After reading this article I have started using a ceramic cup. This is at least till the next report comes out saying that is also unhealthy.

This last winter was very hard on my side stairs of my house, all the salt I used to get rid of the ice chewed away at the cement stairs. Early spring, one of my friends was nice enough to put his foot through them. Long story short, my insurance company said I had only a few weeks to replace them. New building codes didn’t give me enough time to get the project rolling, so a repair was in order. I hope to have a new deck built soon, until then…

In Mexico, “Caguama” is a popular name for a 940ml beer bottle. The Mexican beer brands which are sold in these bottles include Tecate, Carta Blanca, Victoria, Corona Familiar, and Pacifico. “Caguama” means a kind of sea turtle.

Pretty much the Mexican version of the 40oz. but not only reserved for cheap malt liquor.

As I left my house this morning I noticed someone fixing a tire on their car. They asked for a tire iron. Even though I was running late for a meeting I stayed around and let them us it. I figure I have a bit of payback to do for my phone being returned.
