Daily Regimens for Healthy Skin
No one’s skin can remain youthful and healthy if they don’t care for it. The best way to care for your skin? Develop a good skin care regimen or routine. By taking a few extra minutes to care for your skin each day, you can easily prevent premature aging. Within your regimen, you should always include three things; a cleanser, an exfoliator, and a moisturizer. Let’s take a closer look at these three things and discover why they are so important for our skin.
Cleansing – Cleansing is a necessary part of every daily skin care regimen. If you fail to clean your face each day, the dirt that has built up over the course of the day can clog your pores, leading to a variety of skin care issues. In addition to keeping your face clean, a good cleansing can also make for an easier makeup application. (As a general suggestion, you should clean your face twice daily; once in the morning and once before bed|It is generally suggested that you cleanse your face two times each day; morning and night|Whenever possible, cleanse your face twice a day; once when you wake up and once before you go to sleep}.
Exfoliation – As we begin to age, our pores become clogged by our dead skin cells. A good exfoliator can help to remove these dead skin cells, allowing new ones to take their place. Exfoliation is one part of the regimen that does not have to be done each day – 2 to 3 times a week is usually enough.
Moisturizing – Moisturizing is one of the most important parts of any skin care regimen. Lack of moisture is actually one of the leading causes of premature aging. Moisturizer should be applied to your skin at least twice daily.
Other things to consider..:
Okay, so we need to cleanse, exfoliate, and moisturize on a daily (or, in the case of exfoliation, weekly) basis. But there are also many other things that we can do each day to keep our skin youthful and glowing. Let’s take a look:
Eat your fruits and veggies – Eating healthy is the main ingredient to clear and radiant skin. If all you eat is junk food, your skin is going to pay the price. Healthy skin starts with a diet that is rich in vegetables and fruits.
Drink plenty of water – Moisturizer helps to moisturize our outer layers of skin. Water helps to moisturize the inner layers. Upon doctors recommendations, try to drink between 6 and 8 glasses of water each day.
Avoid bad habits – Many of the things that we do can cause damage to our skin. Included within these are things such as smoking, drinking, and tanning (both in booths and in the sun). Each and every one of these habits can cause our skin to age before its time. What can you do if you engage in any of these activities? STOP! Your skin will thank you.
Protect yourself from the sun – The sun is the number one cause of premature aging. This is why it is so essential to wear sunscreen anytime you spend more than ten minutes outdoors. The sun can damage your skin in any weather – hot or cold – so be sure to apply sunscreen in spring, summer, fall, and winter.
Use the tips above to create a daily skin care regimen and watch the difference they will make!.
