The San Bushmen, who live on the fringes of the desert, eat this plant to suppress hunger when they go on long hunting trips.

CSIR, the South African Research Institution, realized the importance of this plant and investigated it. They isolated a long molecule, P 57, that actually suppressed hunger. The patent was sold to a British company called Phytopharm. Phytopharm in turn teamed up with Pfizer to produce a synthetic pill containing P 57.

Phytopharm conducted clinical trials, first with rats and then with humans. They claim that the Hoodia powder, 400 mg, taken for 15 days reduced calorie intake by 1,000, compared to control group. As Pfizer could not produce synthetic P 57 economically, Phytopharm arranged for cultivation of the Hoodia plant in the Kalahari Desert, and set as its target to market the product by the year 2008. The plant takes five to seven years to be ready.

Read the entire article Hoodia Diet Pills

Related:
Hoodia Weight Loss
Hoodia Side Effects

Harvey Diamond Living Without Pain

If you were strolling along the beach and happened to kick an old bottle from which out popped an honest-to-goodness
Genie who told you that you had but a few short moments to ask for any two wishes to be granted in your life;
what would they be? Wouldn't it be health and wealth? Aren't those the two 'biggies" that most people desire in their
life? To have lots and lots of money and to be healthy enough to enjoy it? Truth be told, what good would a lot of
money be if you were too sick to enjoy it? The fact is that health, as the old saying goes, is your greatest wealth.
Surely you've heard people say things like, "When you have your health, you have everything." We all wish to live a
life free of pain, ill health, and disease, which just goes without saying. But how many of us actually have the good
fortune of doing so? When one looks at the actual statistics of who is living life in uninterrupted, pain-free good
health and who is not, the numbers show that those who have some sort of regularly occurring health complaint far
outweigh those who do not, and by a huge margin.

Bearing large odorous blooms, the hoodia plant has been used for ages by the San tribe of South Africa. The San people, also commonly known as bushmen, use hoodia by chewing on the root during long desert trips.

The appetite suppressant qualities of the hoodia plant were discovered by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, or CSIR, in 1996. The CSIR were performing a study of the natural foods eaten by the bushmen and
happened to discover the amazing potential the hoodia plant offered regarding weight loss. Hoodia was first tested by being fed to animals, who lost weight after eating it.

In 1997, the Council was able to isolate the specific ingredient found in hoodia that caused the weight loss. They licensed the patent for this ingredient to the Phytopharm company, who named it P57. Currently
Phytopharm is working to develop energy bars and drinks than contain hoodia.

These products are estimated to hit the market in 2008.

Currently the only real hoodia legally available is grown by the San people in South Africa, who recieve compensation from all sales of their hoodia
plants. If you purchase hoodia that comes from anywhere else, it is not guaranteed to be authentic or effective, and may even be illegal or counterfeit.

Tip! The best thing in Hoodia Gordonii diet pills is that it returns zero side effects.(The only side effect in some cases would be drowsiness and good sleep at night.

Read the entire article What Is The Hoodia Plant?

Related:
Hoodia Weight Loss
Hoodia Side Effects
What Is Hoodia
Hoodia Diet Pills
Buy Hoodia

Copyright Natural Weight Loss
Plug Stamp: FFGNWL

receiving a great deal of attention and acclaim. It is claimed that hoodia
helps you lose weight by getting the message to your brain that you're not
hungry.

Found in the Kalahari desert in South America, hoodia is a plant known as a
succulent that resembles a cactus in appearance. It is a fairly thin,
prickly plant that often features large blossoms that are peachy-pink in
color. There are different species of hoodia, and the one that offers
weight loss potential is hoodia gordonii.

There are no documented hoodia side effects such as racing pulse, nausea or
shakiness found in other diet pills on the market. This may be because
hoodia is a naturally occuring plant, not a pharmaceutical drug. Since there
are no hoodia side effects, it is a popular choice for appetite suppression

Glycemic Index Of Foods

The Glycemic Index (GI) is a system of ranking the
quality of carbohydrate in a food according to the
immediate effect it has on blood glucose. Individual
foods are compared to pure glucose, which has its Glycemic
Index set at 100. For comparison, pearl barley has
a value of 33, oranges are 49, and whole wheat bread
                            is 71.

The Glycemic Index was conceived in 1979 by Dr. David
Jenkins, together with Dr. Thomas Wolever and Dr. Alexandra
Jenkins. The GI breakthrough was the outcome of research
conducted at both Oxford University and at the University
of Toronto to determine which foods would be best for
                            people with diabetes.

Not all carbohydrate foods are created equal, in fact they
behave quite differently in our bodies. The glycemic index or GI describes this
difference by ranking carbohydrates according to their effect on our blood
glucose levels. Choosing low GI carbs - the ones that produce only small
fluctuations in our blood glucose and insulin levels - is the secret to
long-term health reducing your risk of heart disease and diabetes and is the key
to sustainable weight loss.

The following foods are grouped according to their rating on the glycemic index . The best carbohydrate choices are in the low-glycemic group within the index. Restock the refrigerator and pantry to emphasize low-glycemic foods. Ditch the refined breads and breakfast cereals, baked and mashed spuds, white rice and rice cakes, toaster waffles, tator tots and french fries.

The consumption of high-glycemic foods spikes insulin and reduces glucagon thus preventing the burning of body fat. Try to stay away from high-glycemic foods and stick to lower glycemic choices (see lists below) that will produce less insulin. Insulin stimulates your 30 billion fat cell receptors and deposits carbohydrate energy directly into their interiors, making you fatter and fatter. There is no other way to store fat. Every time you eat a meal, your blood sugar rises. Your goal is to consume the foods (low-glycemic), which will cause the least amount of insulin production.

Any high-glycemic foods should only be consumed in minimum quantities and combined with dietary proteins and fats in a meal. The only exception is a high-glycemic drink after exercise. But remember, even too much of the low-glycemic foods can make you fat.

Two Ways To Restore Acid Alkaline Balance In Your Body

If your saliva is too acid you may wish to increase the alkalinity of your body. Ways to do this include:

1. Eat mostly alkaline foods. The general "rule of thumb" is to eat 20% acid foods and 80% alkaline foods. Avoid the "strongly acid" foods.

2. Supplement your diet with fresh fruit, raw plant foods, nuts, sprouts and vegetable juices. As a treatment for cancer, some doctors recommend one
8 oz glass per hour for every waking hour of the day. We could never eat the amount of nutrition we drink from fresh juices and/or some herbal
formulas of alkaline foods prepared by some live whole food companies. There are also some Chinese Herbal drinks that are highly concentrated
and very effective to help flush the toxins from the body. Two of these teas are part of the bonus package that I offer each month. They’re
awesome and are a daily part of my life. Not only are they very effective at helping to nourish your cleansing system, they’re highly alkaline
in nature.

The PH or Alkalinity Of The Skin

It’s interesting to note that the skin is slightly acidic in it’s normal healthy state and needs to be in order to work as our first
line of defense for our immune system. Also interesting to note is that most soaps are alkaline in nature and strip this acid mantle
off our skin. When I found this out using some ph paper back in 1993 I believe it was, I quit using soap. I switched brands to a
Sunrider product which is a soapless soap and is PH balanced for our skin. When I started using it, water started to bead off my skin again.
Commercial laundry detergents are among the highest level of alkalinity and literally burn your skin. Traces are left in our clothes after
washing and then we wear that all day long. No thanks. You haven’t met me in person, but trust me, I am known for my skin quality.
Ask any of my ex girlfriends. For more information about switching to Sunrider skin care, contact me privately.

The Importance of Acid and Alkaline Balance for Health Virtually all degenerative diseases including cancer, heart disease, arthritis,
osteoporosis, kidney and gall stones, and tooth decay are associated with excess acidity in the body. While the body has a homeostatic
mechanism that maintains a constant pH 7.4 in the blood, this mechanism works by depositing and withdrawing acid and alkaline minerals
from other locations including the bones, soft tissues, body fluids and saliva. Therefore, the pH of these other tissues can fluctuate
greatly. The pH of saliva offers a window through which you can see the overall pH balance in your body. Cancer cannot exist in an alkaline
environment. All forms of arthritis are associated with excess acidity. Acid in the body dissolves both teeth and bones. Whatever health
situation you are faced with, you can monitor your progress toward a proper acid/alkaline balance by testing your saliva pH.

What are Acid and Alkaline? Water (H2O) ionizes into hydrogen (H+) and hydroxyl (OH-) ions. When these ions are in equal proportions,
the pH is a neutral 7. When there are more H+ ions than OH- ions then the water is said to be acid. If OH- ions outnumber the H+ ions then
the water is alkaline. The pH scale goes from 0 to 14 and is logarithmic, which means that each step is ten times the previous. In other
words, a pH of 4.5 is 10 times more acid than 5.5, 100 times more acid than 6.5 and 1,000 times more acid than 7.5.

Distilled water is acidic. Do not drink it. I did for years and I saw the signs of mineral depletion, I just didn’t recognize the cause.

What Is This Alkaline Acid Balance Thing?

Alkalize Or Die A very powerful statement that is not made lightly If You Are Concerned About Your Health Do the Saliva pH
Test A simple test you can do to measure your susceptibility to cancer, heart disease, osteoporosis, arthritis, and many other
degenerative diseases. Wait at least 2 hours after eating or drinking juices. Fill your mouth with saliva and then swallow it.
Do this again to help ensure that the saliva is clean. Then the third time, put some saliva onto pH paper. The pH paper should
turn blue. This indicates that your saliva is slightly alkaline at a healthy pH of 7.4. If it is not blue, compare the color
with the chart that comes with the pH paper. If your saliva is acid (below pH of 7.0) wait two hours and repeat the test.
You can use the pH paper to measure both the saliva and urine pH levels of your body. The pH papers are a powerful tool
for monitoring your pH balance system. pH testing also provides us with a way to take a more proactive role in our health.
We can detect and start to correct the pH imbalances in our systems before they manifest as symptoms of disease. The
pH tests are easy and quick. All you need are pH papers and the instructions for interpreting your results.

When healthy, the pH of blood is 7.4, the pH of spinal fluid is 7.4, and the pH of saliva is 7.4. Thus the pH of saliva parallels the extra cellular
fluid… pH test of saliva represents the most consistent and most definitive physical sign of the ionic calcium deficiency syndrome. The pH of
the non-deficient and healthy person is in the 7.5 (dark blue) to 7.1 (blue) slightly alkaline range. The range from 6.5 (blue-green is weakly
acidic to 4.5 (light yellow) which is strongly acidic represents states from mildly deficient to strongly deficient, respectively.
Most children are dark blue, a pH of 7.5. Over half of adults are green-yellow, a pH of 6.5 or lower, reflecting the calcium deficiency of aging
and lifestyle defects. Cancer patients are usually a bright yellow, a pH of 4.5, especially when terminal.

Read more about Being Alkaline

The best method to pass this test is to eat mainly in restaurants that are serving low cholesterol dishes.

If you avoid all foods that contain cholesterol, will your high cholesterol return to normal?

It's not that simple. Your blood cholesterol level is influenced far more by how many calories and how much saturated and partially hydrogenated fat you eat, than by how much cholesterol is in your food. Cholesterol is found only in foods from animals, such as meat, fish, chicken, dairy products and eggs. It is not found in plants. More than 80 percent of the cholesterol in your body is made by your liver. Less than 20 percent comes from the food that you eat. When you eat more cholesterol, your liver makes less.

Your liver makes cholesterol from saturated fats, which are found in most foods but are concentrated in meat, poultry and whole-milk dairy products. The saturated fat is broken down by your liver into acetone units. If you are not taking in too many calories, your liver uses the acetone units for energy, but if you are taking in more calories than your body needs, your liver uses these same acetone units to manufacture cholesterol. That explains why eating two eggs a day does not raise blood cholesterol levels in the average American. They are already taking in so much cholesterol from meat, fish and chicken and diary products, that when they take in more, they absorb less.

Effective Ways To Lower Your Cholesterol. With our Cholesterol Lowering Toolkit, you can find out what you need to know.

Read the Cholesterol Article

Read more about Cholesterol Lowering Foods or the complete Low Cholesterol Articles

Copyright Natural Weight Loss
Plug Stamp: FFGNWL

3 Shocking Myths About Sleep

The 3 Shocking MYTHS About Sleep That You Don't Know
About - Which Are Depriving You of Your Life Energy.

MYTH #1 ) “If you sleep longer, you'll be more awake and have more energy in your life”

TRUTH: Sleeping Longer ROBS You of Energy and Damages your Sleeping System.

There are several reasons why sleeping longer damages your sleep system. What most people don't know is that there is a very important element of your inner sleep clock which is prior wakefulness. When you sleep longer you limit your prior wakefulness which puts stress on a number of other factors such us your melatonin hormone levels, your exposure to sunlight, and your body temperature rhythm.
Getting longer sleep or "catching up on sleep" only weakens your sleep system, which in turn can even lower your immune system. The common belief that trying to sleep less makes you tired and low on energy is simply because people don't understand how the bio-temperature rhythms work (what you will learn soon).

MYTH #2) You need to “Catch Up on Sleep” if you missed some before.

TRUTH: Unless you...

Unless you go on a huge sleep deprivation marathon, you do not need to "catch up on sleep", if you downloaded the 2 free chapters of the powerful sleep eBook, you learned precisely why this is true. It is only during the first 3 - 4 hours of sleep that we experience most of State 3 and Stage 4 sleep. Sleeping longer than you usually do isn't physically beneficial to you in anyway, and puts your body temperature rhythm out of balance.

MYTH #3) “I feel so low on energy, I Must Get More Sleep”

TRUTH: More Sleep DOES NOT Provide You With more Energy!

You don't need MORE sleep, you need QUALITY sleep.

People think that sleep is a very basic thing. We don't really think about it do we? We sleep, we wake up, and we magically feel refreshed, don't we? In truth, sleep is actually quite a complex and fascinating system that most of us take for granted. Because most of us don't understand how our inner sleep system works, we aren't even aware of all the actions we're taking in our lives that are damaging our sleep systems and depriving us of energy. There is a difference between MORE sleep, and POWERFUL sleep. The only way to make your sleep more physically energizing is to learn about the inner science of sleep! Only once you learn how to optimize your sleeping system for maximum performance, can you try to reduce your sleep.

In this short report we only barely scratched the surface of these vitally important understandings. What we briefly talked about here is completely covered in rich detail in the first two chapters of the Powerful Sleep system, and for a limited time you can get those two chapters FREE right now (see details below).

High cholesterol is also seen in connection with other diseases, such as reduced metabolism (due to thyroid hormone problems, for example), kidney diseases, diabetes and alcohol abuse.

Do you have a high cholesterol intake? Eating products with high cholesterol levels can result in some serious health hazards.

A growing problem in the world, high cholesterol levels can shorten your lifespan and result in a host of medical problems if not monitored. One of the deadliest aspects of this silent killer is the fact that high cholesterol symptoms are usually rare and undetectable until tragedy strikes.

For one, high cholesterol levels can lead to a risk of coronary disease. Coronary disease sometimes results in a symptom known as "Angina". Angina is a chest pain that is felt when afflicted with this disease, and has been accurately described by many as feeling a pressure or squeezing directly on their heart.

These high cholesterol symptoms can spread to the jaw, neck, or the arm. In addition to this painful symptom, people with coronary disease sometimes report nausea, dizziness, shortness of breath, lightheadedness, and heart palpitations. A stroke is another deadly factor associated with a high cholesterol level. There are symptoms that help identify a stroke, but most often, strokes happen with little to no warning.

Lower Your High Cholesterol Naturally

Rob Cooper reviews 60 Day Prescription Free Cholesterol Cure

I've always believed that every condition know to man could be treated naturally with diet, exercise and with the proper application of
knowledge and nutrition. When it comes to Lowering High Cholesterol Naturally, I feel no different.

My Own Cholesterol Levels

My sister and her husband are doctors. In fact, my sisters husband worked as a private consultant to the World Health Organization (WHO) in
Geneva Switzerland for 6 years. One summer they were visiting and I had just had my cholesterol levels checked with my doctor.

I remember the moment exactly, when I read what my cholesterol report said because they both stopped what they were doing, turned and looked at me.
They had me repeat the numbers and then they looked over the report themselves.

It was at that moment that I realized I had actually stunned my sister the "doctor" for the first time. I had fallen prey to the "little brother can't possible know best" syndrome, so they had never listened to me in the past.

I've been following a natural diet for a number of years and the work paid off not only with my weight , fitness level and health, but also for my cholesterol numbers.

Lower Your Cholesterol Without Drugs

In having a look online for a good way to inform people about Cholesterol and how to lower it naturally, I was lead to Frank Mangano after reading his book about natural high blood pressure reduction.

Frank began looking for a natural approach to lowering cholesterol for his mother. She was diagnosed with High Cholesterol and was afraid to begin Statin Drugs because of their terrible side effects. He dove into the research and the hard work paid off. What He gave his mother was a plan based on hard science that allowed her to lower her cholesterol without drugs. Her cholesterol dropped 40 points with his all-natural system.
This kind of result normally leaves doctors slack-jawed at the amazing results.

Hoodia And Weight Loss

Tip! With the right conditions hoodia can be one of the easiest plants to grow. But it must be grown in the desert.

San tribesmen of the Kalahari Desert in South Africa have one of the oldest primitive cultures in existence, maybe as old as 100,000 years. They are hunter-gatherers and go on long hunting expeditions. Given the harsh desert and scarcity of game, they chew on a succulent plant called Hoodia Gordonii to keep off hunger and thirst.

In 1937 a Dutch anthropologist recorded, this fact and in the 1960s CSIR, the South African research council, started a study on the plant. In 1997 CSIR took out a patent on a molecule of Hoodia, named P57, as an aid in weight-loss treatment. In 1998 they made an agreement with a British company, Phytopharm, to test and market the product.

Phytopharm carried out the usual clinical trails of P 57 and announced a very positive result in 2001. In a double-blind study volunteers were given 400mg of dried Hoodia per day. After 15 days they reduced their calorie intake by 1,000 per day. The control group did not show any appreciable reduction.

In the mid-brain hypothalamus there are nerve cells that detect glucose. When we eat, the glucose from food reaches these nerve cells, and they fire signals that make you feel full. The molecule in Hoodia Gordonii P 57 is 10,000 times as active as glucose in making these cells start the signal and make you feel full. This plant has proved to be a natural appetite suppressant, without the side effects of other chemicals that are being used for weight loss treatment.

Read more from the article Hoodia and Weight Loss or more from the Hoodia Articles section.

Copyright Natural Weight Loss
Plug Stamp: FFGNWL

The local inhabitants (the San) have eaten Hoodia stems to defend against hunger and thirst when on long journeys or during times of drought, because it acts as an appetite suppressant.

After years of diligent research, science has isolated multiple compounds in this all-natural food that was responsible for dramatic weight loss. This trend has been widely reported, but this represents only one of several chemical compounds found in the Hoodia succulent. It is proven completely safe and it contains no stimulates that could contribute to any jittery feeling associated with weight loss pills and other fast weight loss diet products of the last ten years. It appears to be more health safe than other supplements.

The Hoodia plant has become world renowned for its effects as an appetite suppressant and weight loss supplement.

In order to become eligible to export to the Hoodia to the USA and other nations, Hoodia farmers are required to procure anC.I.T.E.S. certificate which is issued by the African government on a per export-shipment basis.

Hoodia Gordonii For Weight Loss

Tip! There are many kinds of hoodia plant. But only the hoodia gordonii species contains an active ingredient that helps suppress your appetite.

Have you heard about Hoodia Gordonii? It's marketed as an "amazing" new weight loss ingredient that will help you lose weight without feeling hungry. The many advertisements hyping the product claim that Hoodia contains a "miracle molecule called P57 that tricks the brain into thinking you've eaten, and makes you feel full." The claims do not stop there; in addition to losing weight, the ads claim you will feel better while taking this super weight loss ingredient, because Hoodia has "a feel-good, aphrodisiac quality." What exactly is Hoodia and does it really work? Let us take a closer look at this "miracle appetite suppressant."

What is Hoodia Gordonii?

Hoodia is a succulent that looks like a cactus. It has been described as a somewhat bitter-tasting cucumber that thrives in extremely hot, dry weather and takes 5-7 years to reach maturity. Hoodia grows in the Kalahari Desert region of South Africa, as well as the countries of Botswana, Namibia and Angola. It is said that for generations the San Bushmen, tribesmen native to the regions Hoodia grows, have removed the skin and spines of Hoodia prior to consumption as a way to curb their hunger and thirst during nomadic hunting trips.

In 1995 scientists isolated that one molecule in the plant that is responsible for the Hoodia appetite reducing effect. The molecule was named P57. The process to isolate the P57 compound was patented and the rights were sold to a British company called Phytopharm. In 1998 Phytopharm signed a licensing agreement with the U.S. pharmaceutical giant Pfizer. Together, these two companies set the goal to isolate P57 in order to market and sell it for commercial weight loss purposes in the form of diet pills and capsules. In 2003, after many years of research, and no marketable P57 diet product, Pfizer elected to end its Hoodia contract with Phytopharm. Why? The process of isolating the P57 compound was way too costly to produce as a commercial weight loss product.

Read more about Hoodia Weight Loss or more from this article Hoodia Gordonii For Weight Loss

Copyright Natural Weight Loss
Plug Stamp: FFGNWL

Creatine - Not Just A Sports Nutrition Supplement

Real World Fat Loss Diet & Weight Loss Supplement Review

Readers of the March 2003 issue of Life Extension magazine should recall the long list of potential medical,
performance and anti-aging effects of creatine. The article outlined the substantial body of research that
found creatine may help with diseases effecting the neuro muscular system, such as muscular dystrophy and
may have therapeutic applications in aging populations, wasting syndromes, muscle atrophy, fatigue, myopathies,
Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease and other mitochondrial cytopathies. Several studies have shown it may reduce cholesterol by up to 15% and has been used to correct certain inborn errors of metabolism, such as people born without the enzyme(s) responsible for making creatine.

The article also covered exactly what creatine is, how it works and how much is required to possibly treat the aforementioned pathologies. If you missed that article, refer to the March 2003 issue of Life Extension magazine, or view it at www.lef.org. In this article, we examine some additional properties of creatine, such as its effects on growth hormone release, homocysteine and chronic fatigue syndrome, as well as other important issues surrounding this supplement, such as its safety.

Although data is limited, some research suggests creatine can raise growth hormone equal to that of intense exercise. Growth hormone (GH) is known to play an essential role in the regulation of body fat levels, immunity, muscle mass, wound healing, bone mass and literally thousands of other functions both known and yet unknown. It is well established that GH levels steadily decline as we age and is partially responsible for the steady loss of muscle mass, loss of skin elasticity, immune dysfunction and many other physical changes that take place in the aging human body. Therefore, the possible effects of creatine on GH is worth exploring in aging populations.

One study found creatine could mimic the increased GH levels seen after intense exercise.1 In this comparative cross-sectional study, researchers gave six healthy male subjects 20 grams of creatine in a single dose at resting (non-exercising) conditions. The study found that all subjects showed a "significant" increase of GH in the blood during the six-hour period after creatine ingestion. However, the study also found "a large interindividual variability in the GH response." That is, there were wide differences among individuals in the levels of GH achieved from taking the creatine. For the majority of subjects the maximum GH concentration occurred between two and six hours after ingesting the creatine.

The researchers concluded "In resting conditions and at high dosages creatine enhances GH secretion, mimicking the response of strong exercise which also stimulates GH secretion." These researchers felt that the effects of creatine on GH could be viewed as one of creatine's anabolic properties with the lean mass and strength increases observed after creatine supplementation. Although creatine supplementation has been found to increase lean muscle mass and strength in many studies, the effects of creatine on those tissues via GH enhancement has yet to be elucidated.

Creatine may reduce homocysteine levels

Homocysteine has been recognized as an important independent risk factor of heart disease, more so than cholesterol levels according to some studies. Creatine biosynthesis has been postulated as a major effector of homocysteine concentrations,2 and oral creatine supplements may reduce levels of homocysteine. Many studies have found that methyl donors (such as trimethylglycine (TMG) reduce levels of homocysteine, which also reduces the risk of heart disease. Conversely, pathways that demand large amounts of methyl groups may hinder the body's ability to reduce homocysteine levels. The methylation of guanidinoacetate to form creatine consumes more methyl groups than all other methylation reactions combined in the human body.

Researchers have postulated that increasing or decreasing methyl demands on the body may increase or decrease homocysteine levels. In one study researchers fed rats either guanidinoacetate- or creatine-supplemented diets for two weeks.3 According to the researchers "plasma homocysteine was significantly increased (~50%) in rats maintained on guanidinoacetate-supplemented diets, whereas rats maintained on creatine-supplemented diets exhibited a significantly lower (~25%) plasma homocysteine level." These results suggest that homocysteine metabolism is sensitive to methylation demand imposed by physiological substrates such as creatine.

Creatine and chronic fatigue/fibromyalgia

Because of creatine's apparent abilities to improve the symptoms of other pathologies involving a lack of high energy compounds (e.g., congestive heart failure, etc.) as well as the aforementioned afflictions outlined in the introduction to this article, it has been suggested that creatine may help with chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia (some researchers now posit that they are in fact the same syndrome). Although the causes of both pathologies is still being debated, a lack of high energy compounds (e.g. ATP) at the level of the mitochondria and general muscle weakness exists. For example, people with fibromyalgia have lower levels of creatine phosphate and ATP levels compared to controls.4 No direct studies exist at this time showing creatine supplementation improves the symptomology of either chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia.

Considering, however, the other data that finds that creatine supplementation increases creatine and ATP levels consistently in other pathologies where low levels of creatine and ATP are found, it stands to reason that people suffering from either syndrome may want to peruse the use of creatine. Another similar syndrome to chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia, is Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Syndrome, which may also be potentially improved by the use of creatine supplements, though more research is clearly needed.

Creatine safety issues: fact or fiction?

After the first article in Life Extension magazine on the many potential medical and anti-aging uses of creatine, I received several letters and many e-mails that basically said "I would like to use creatine for the various reasons stated in the article, but I am worried about its safety." This fear over the safety of creatine was usually generated from some hysterical news report or poorly researched article. It's odd, but predictable that the media and conservative medical establishment have desperately tried to paint creatine as an inherently dangerous or "poorly researched" dietary supplement. The fact is, creatine may be the most extensively researched performance-enhancing supplement of all time, with a somewhat astounding safety record.

True to form, the "don't confuse us with the facts" media and anti-supplement conservative medical groups have had no problems ignoring the extensive safety data on creatine, or simply inventing safety worries where none exists. A perfect example of this was the news report that mentioned the deaths of three high school wrestlers who died after putting on rubber suits and riding a stationary bike in a sauna to lose weight. Amazingly, their deaths were linked to creatine by the media, rather than extreme dehydration! Even more amazingly, on further examination, it was found that two of the three wrestlers were not using creatine!

Creatine has been blamed for all sorts of effects, from muscle cramps to dehydration, to increased injuries in athletes. However, these effects have been looked at extensively by researchers without a single study reporting side effects among several groups taking creatine for various medical reasons over five years.5-8

In some, but not all people, creatine can raise a metabolic byproduct of creatine metabolism known as creatinine. Some people-including some medical professionals who should know better-have mistakenly stated that elevated levels of creatinine could damage the kidneys. Elevated creatinine is often a blood indicator, not a cause, of kidney dysfunction.

That's a very important distinction, and several short- and long-term studies have found creatine supplements have no ill effects on the kidney function of healthy people.9,10 Though it makes sense that people with pre-existing kidney dysfunction should avoid creatine supplements, it is reassuring to know that creatine supplements were found to have no ill effects on the kidney function of animals with pre-existing kidney failure, showing just how non toxic creatine appears to be for the kidneys.11 Bottom line, creatine safety has been extensively researched and is far safer than most over-the-counter (OTC) products, including aspirin.

Conclusion

Though additional research is warranted regarding the pathologies outlined in this article, creatine has a substantial body of research showing it is an effective, safe and worthwhile supplement in a wide range of pathologies and may be the next big find in anti-aging nutrients. Although the dose used in the studies was quite high, recent studies suggest lower doses are just as effective for increasing the overall creatine phosphate pool in the body. The dose of 2 to 3 grams per day appears adequate for healthy people to increase their tissue levels of creatine phosphate.

People with the pathologies mentioned in this article may benefit from higher intakes in the 5 to 10 gram per day range. People interested in more information regarding creatine, in particular the use of creatine and other supplements for athletes, should consider referring to my recent ebook Muscle Building Nutrition found at www.MuscleBuildingNutrition.com for additional information.

Weight Gain Myths

				By Gary Mathews
Fitness Instructor for the Royal Australian Air Force and Author of Maximum Fitness

The vast majority of myths about weight gain are mostly passed down from
"gym talk" and so-called experts who know nothing about the body's workings.

Myths that lead to wasted time, frustration and if are taken blindly as truth, can really set back your progress in the gym. Don't believe everything you hear in the gym when it comes to exercise and weight gain, do the research yourself.

Simple, basic principles apply to all weight and muscle gain such as progressive overload, variable frequency of reps and high intensity workouts. Lets take a look at some of the most common weight gain myths.

High repetitions burn fat while low repetitions build muscle.

Progressive overload is needed to make muscles bigger.
Meaning that you need to perform more reps than you did
for your last workout for that particular exercise.
If you perform the same amount of reps at each workout nothing
will change on you, also if the weight doesn’t changes on the bar nothing
will change on you. You need to become stronger.

Definition has two characteristics, muscle size and a low
incidence of body fat. To reduce body fat you will have to
reduce your calories; the high repetition exercise will burn
some calories, but wouldn't it be better to fast walk to burn these off?
Better still; use the low reps to build muscle, which will
elevate your metabolism and burn more calories (less fat).

Vegetarians can’t build muscle.

Yes they can! Strength training with supplementation of
soy Protein Isolate has shown to increase solid bodyweight.
Studies have shown that athletic performance is not impaired
by following a meat free diet, and people strength training
and consuming only soy protein isolate as a protein source
were able to gain lean muscle mass.

[Rob's Note:] I agree. I was vegetarian for 12 years and vegan for two of those. I was able to put on over 40 pounds
of lean muscle tissue on a plant based diet.

Strength Training will make you look masculine.

If it is not you’re intention to bulk up from strength training
you won’t. Putting on muscle is a long hard slow process.
Your strength-training regime coupled with quality food will
determine how much you will bulk up. To bulk up you also require
more food. Women don't produce enough testosterone to allow
for muscular growth as large as men.

By working out you can eat what ever you want to.

Of course you can eat whatever you want, if you don't care
how you want to look. Working out does not give you an open license
to consume as many calories as you want. Although you will
burn more calories if you workout than someone who doesn't,
you still need to balance your energy intake with you energy
expenditure.

If you take a week off you will lose most of your gains.

Taking one or two weeks off occasionally will not harm your
training. By taking this time off every eight to ten weeks
in between strength training cycles it has the habit of refreshing you and
to heal those small niggling injuries. By having longer layoffs
you do not actually lose muscle fibres, just volume
through not training, any size loss will be quickly re-gained.

By eating more protein I can build bigger muscles.

Building muscle mass involves two things, progressive overload
to stimulate muscles beyond their normal levels of resistance
and eating more calories than you can burn off. With all the
hype about high protein diets lately and because muscle is made
of protein, it’s easy to believe that protein is the best fuel
for building muscle, however muscles work on calories which
should predominately be derived from carbohydrates.

If I'm not sore after a workout, I didn't work out hard enough.

Post workout soreness is not an indication of how good the
exercise or strength training session was for you. The fitter
you are at a certain activity, the less soreness you will
experience after. As soon as you change an exercise, use a
heavier weight or do a few more reps you place extra stress
on that body part and this will cause soreness.

Resistance training doesn't burn fat.

Nothing could not be further from the truth. Muscle is a
metabolically active tissue and has a role in increasing
the metabolism. The faster metabolism we have the quicker
we can burn fat. Cardio exercise enables us to burn
calories whilst exercising but does little else for
fat loss afterwards.

Weight training enables us to burn calories whilst
exercising but also helps us to burn calories whilst
at rest. Weight training encourages muscle growth
and the more lean muscle mass we possess, the more
fat we burn though an increased and elevated metabolism.

No pain no gain.

This is one myth that hangs on and on. Pain is your body
signalling that something is wrong. If you feel real
pain during a workout, stop your workout and rest.
To develop muscle and increase endurance you may need
to have a slight level of discomfort, but that's not
actual pain.

Taking steroids will make me huge.

Not true, strength training and correct nutrition will
grow muscle. Taking steroids without training will not
make you muscular.

Most steroids allow faster muscle growth through greater
recovery, while others help increase strength which
allows for greater stress to be put onto a muscle.
Without food to build the muscle or training to stimulate
it nothing will happen. Most of the weight gain seen
with the use of some steroids is due to water
retention and is not actual muscle.

Strength training won’t work your heart.

Wrong!! Strength training with short rest periods will
increase your heartbeat well over a hundred beats
per minute. For example, performing a set of breathing
squats and you can be guaranteed that your heart will
be working overtime and that your entire cardiovascular
system will be given a great overall body workout.

Any intensive weightlifting routine that lasts for
20 minutes or more is a great workout for your heart
and the muscles involved.

I can gain muscle and lose fat at the same time.

Wrong. Only a few gifted people with superb genetics
can increase muscle size while not putting on body fat.
But for the average hard gainer, they have to increase
their muscle mass to its maximum potential and then cut
down their body fat percentage to achieve the desired shape.

Stop wasting your time, money and effort for nothing. Please have a look at the facts presented in this outline of my weight gain principles and make your own decision. As you will see, my systems do work.

Hello, let me introduce myself. My name is Gary Matthews and I bring over 20 years of experience to the Health and Fitness Industry and to MaximumFitness.com.

My professional career began in the Royal Australian Air Force where I was employed as a Fitness Instructor. My duties consisted of training recruits in various disciplines including strength training and conditioning techniques for weight gain, weight loss and general fitness.

At this time I was very much influenced by the bodybuilders and the training systems of the time. Training five or six workouts a week was the norm, splitting upper and lower body workouts and sometimes working out twice a day.

Every set was taken to positive failure, then three or more forced reps and if that wasn't enough I would do a few negative reps. This sort of training would totally exhaust me and render me sore for days after every session.

This constant battering to my body always made me sick or injured. I would take time off and then go back to it again and all the time I gained nothing in size or strength. Can you imagine years and years of hard work all for nothing and I still see it going on around me now.

Traditional training techniques like this are ineffective and downright dangerous, having been passed down from previous training generations and unquestionably followed at all costs.

The only people making any progress on these systems are the so called 'bodybuilding stars' who have superb genetics (about 2% of the general population) and are taking massive amounts of steroids (very expensive and dangerous).

Please do not fall into the same trap, if you haven't made any gains for a long time now stop!! Stop wasting your time, money and effort for nothing. Please have a look at the facts presented in this outline of my weight gain principles and make your own decision. As you will see, my systems do work.

I have been helping people gain solid muscular bodyweight for years now using the same techniques I outline here.

Before I start on the actual training here are a few Scientific Guidelines for strength training that have always been around but are not followed by many training systems these days. As you will see I have based my programs on scientific principles not hearsay or gymlore passed on from trainer to trainer.

It's an unfortunate reality that throughout the years there has been a growth of training techniques without any scientific proof. As in Life, and in Training: The simplest is always the best.

Calorie Density For Muscular Immensity

Author: Tom Venuto

Author of Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle

The secret to packing on pounds of solid muscle mass is simple:
For the most part, the types of foods you eat on a muscle-gaining program are
the same ones you should eat all the time, whether you want to lose, gain or
maintain - you just need to eat more of them. "Just eat more" is easier
said than done, however. It seems like you're constantly shopping, cooking and
eating. Sometimes preparing food and eating it can seem like a full time job!
One way to make gaining weight and forcing down all that food less of a chore is
to choose foods (or supplements) with a HIGHER CALORIE DENSITY. By doing so, you
can get more calories in the same amount of food.

All proteins and all carbohydrates have 4 calories per gram and
all fats have 9 calories per gram, but not all foods have the same number
of calories per unit of volume. Let me explain:

Imagine for a moment, two measuring cups (the kind you have in
your kitchen) and notice the amount of space in each container. Got it? Now
visualize the two cups side by side; one filled with chopped cucumber and one
filled with raisins. Each cup now contains exactly the same VOLUME of food,
right? But did you know that the cup of raisins has 37 times more calories?
That's right! The cup of cucumbers contains 14 calories, while the cup of
raisins contains 520 calories. If cucumbers and raisins both have four calories
per gram, then how could this be? The answer has to do with calorie density. The
cucumbers have a lower calorie density because they have a higher fiber and
water content. The calories in the raisins are more "concentrated."

And that's the secret to getting enough calories to gain
weight: choose calorie-concentrated foods.

If you learn which foods are nutrition dense and calorie
dense, you can use this information to help you gain lean weight more easily
than ever before.

Fibrous carbohydrates and vegetables such as lettuce,
asparagus, cucumber and broccoli have very low calorie densities because your
body can't absorb the caloric content of fiber. That makes veggies an excellent
choice when you want to lose body fat. Before competitions, bodybuilders usually
reduce or remove high calorie simple sugars and starches from their diets and
replace them with fibrous carbohydrates. (Goodbye bagels and pasta, hello
broccoli and asparagus!)

On the other side of the coin, the low calorie density of most
vegetables is the very reason that they don't help you gain weight. Think about
it; you would have to eat a wheelbarrow full of lettuce, cucumbers or spinach
before you consumed enough calories to make the scale budge at all! It's wise to
always include vegetables in your diet (because they're good for you), but you
won't get enough calories to gain weight from veggies alone; you have to eat
lots of high density foods or you'll be fighting an uphill battle.

So now let's look at some "calorie-dense" foods that can help
you pack on the pounds:

Read the rest of Gaining Muscle, by Tom Venuto, author of Burn the fat

Read more Bodybuilding Articles

Copyright Natural Weight Loss
Plug Stamp: FFGNWL

Reduce Your Cholesterol Naturally

This means that you should start having skimmed milk, low cholesterol spread or light cheese, instead of your normal foods.

What can you do to improve your cholesterol levels? Here's a quick list to get you started.

* Reduce fat in your diet

Buy the leanest cuts of meat you can find. Regularly substitute poultry (without the skin) and fish for red meat. Both are lower in saturated fat. Switch to low fat cottage cheese and yogurt, reduced fat hard cheeses and skim or 1 percent milk.

* Eat no more than four egg yolks a week

An average egg yolk contains 213 milligrams of cholesterol!

* Eliminate fried foods

Don't fry foods. Roast, bake, broil, grill or poach them instead. Use fat free marinades or basting with liquids like wine, tomato or lemon juice. Use olive or canola oils for sautéing or baking. Both are very low in saturated fat. Use diet, tub or squeeze margarines instead of regular. Watch for the term "hydrogenated," which means some of the fat is saturated.

Tip! Go overboard on fruits and vegetables. They contain no cholesterol and they have lots of nutrients like antioxidants.

* Eat vegetables and complex carbohydrates

Lowest fat foods of all are vegetables, fruits, grains (rice, barley and pasta), beans and legumes. Try substituting some of these for meat and high fat dairy products. Don't douse your pasta with butter or your potato with sour cream. Use tomato base sauces instead of cream base. Use lemon juice, low sodium soy sauce or herbs to season vegetables. Make chili with extra beans and seasonings while leaving out the meat.

* Lose weight

If you are overweight, the chances are almost 100% that you have a problem with high cholesterol. You can lower your LDL and elevate your HDL just by dropping some pounds.

* Nuts to you!

Do you like nuts? If you do, sprinkle a few on your cereal, bake them into muffins or pancakes or add them to casseroles or stir-fries. Walnuts and almonds are especially good. Eating about three ounces of walnuts a day is shown to decrease blood cholesterol levels by 10% more than an already low fat, low cholesterol diet.

Tip! Tropical oils don't do you good. If you want to get a lower cholesterol level you must start using vegetable oils (olive oil is the best choice) or canola oils.

In fact, the higher your cholesterol level, the greater the chances you have of getting a heart attack. Heart disease is the leading cause of death among men and women in the United States. Every year more than a million Americans suffer heart attacks, and half of that number die from heart disease.

2. How Does Cholesterol Cause Heart Disease?

When your body has too much cholesterol, it builds up in the walls of your arteries. This causes your arteries to harden. Your arteries, as a result of this, narrow down or get blocked. This reduces the flow of blood through your body. Oxygen is carried throughout your body by blood. If an inadequate supply of oxygen to your heart occurs because of reduced blood flow, you may experience chest pains. And if the blood supply is completely cut off, the result is a heart attack.

Unfortunately, high blood cholesterol has no symptoms. So it is hard to gauge the status of your arteries. Whether or not you suffer from heart disease, lowering your cholesterol is important to maintain good health.

3.
Prescription Free Cholesterol Cure

Frank Mangano discovered a proven method to lowering your high cholesterol in an all-natural way. Using his prescription free method,
you can lower high cholesterol…and do it naturally.

Frank isn't a doctor, but rather a hardcore researcher. He finds solutions for people, especially those close to him.
It all started with his mother who had high cholesterol. Since she didn't want to begin taking a statin, or prescription strength
cholesterol lowering drug due to her fear of side effects, she turned to Frank for help. He buried his nose in all the medical books,
reports, and articles he could find to discover a way for her to lower her cholesterol.

And the hard work paid off. What he gave his mother was a plan based on hard science that allowed her to lower her cholesterol
without drugs. Her cholesterol dropped 40 points with his all-natural system. This kind of result normally leaves doctors slack-jawed
					at the amazing results.

Frank came up with the 60 Day Prescription Free Cholesterol Cure and in it, he teaches more than you'll probably ever learn from
your doctor. His Natural Health book is helping people lower cholesterol all over the world and it's exhaustive research brings
you only the facts based on science.

Five Tibetan rejuvenation Rites

Chet Day is a
trained journalist. We are not. So we begin with his synopsis of this 43-page
eBook. "In 1939, a man called Peter Kelder wrote a book called ‘The Eye of
Revelation’, a little health treatise that revealed to the world for the first
time five previously secret Tibetan rejuvenation rites. Now you too can practice
the exercises used by Tibetan monks to remain ageless."

Now, forget the
blurb that sounds exotic and mysterious. This is seriously good, and seriously
good fun too. If you like Indiana Jones type action movies, the story that has
the rites embedded in it is going to really give you a ball of a read.

The five rites are
five 'exercise' movements with demo illustrations that should be shown
compulsorily to any illustrator of contemporary exercise teaching books. Look
and do, perfectly, first time. The text that goes with each is as concise and
clear. These are idiot- proof, and safe, and fun, and work.

What do they do?
Loosen up, tone, and produce the sort of energy high you may never have
experienced, even as a child. Bon talks about 'vortexes', other traditions talk
about "chakras," and enlightened western medicine now recognizes 'energy
centers' of the body. The moves undo locked in tension in these specific body
areas, and free the 'bound' energy so you will feel like a million dollars, even
if you currently don’t rate ten cents. Find time for these five fun bits (very
little time) in your day, and while you may not make 150, your three score and
ten are going to be a lot nicer. Absolutely brilliant, and even the village
idiot can’t mess the moves up.

Part 2, rite 6, is
for men who aspire to transform from wimps to supermen. Ladies may care to float
this one past their men folk and bin the advert for Viagra, which is nasty
dangerous stuff anyway.

Part 3 deals with
nutrition and has elements Rea certainly aren’t going to tilt at. To the point
and as applicable in Ohio today as in Lhasa of the past.

Part 4 is a voice
exercise and it is an absolute riot. You’ll love it.

Overall, the
interest will be in the first five rites. Chet reckons, from personal
experience, that you get results in three weeks.

The man is wrong!

We put three
friends onto the five rejuvenation rites as a test, and they report the improvement is
noticed in four days. So, if you are looking for a gripping adventure story plus
a way of using a few minutes a day to turbo boost energy and feel good, this is
money you won’t regret spending. Better still, if you think the book is junk,
Chet will give you an unconditional guarantee of refund in full -- and you keep
the book.

It's cheaper than
Ms Wiggles Exercise vid, ten times more enjoyable and it does the business. Go
for it!

Are the Five Rites the Fountain of Youth Sought by Ponce deLeon?

This
downloadable eVersion of Kelder's manuscript contains not only the original
drawings but also the unedited and unexpurgated story of British Colonel
Bradford, the man who searched for and found the long-hidden Tibetan
monastery that housed the ageless monks who taught him the secret rejuvenation
rites in the 1920's.

As
the original publishers say in their foreword:

The Five Rites
produce remarkable mental and physical rejuvenation within a month. So much so,
in fact, that one gains new hope and enthusiasm with which to carry on. However,
the greatest results come after the tenth week. When you stop to consider that
the average man has endured his afflictions from 30 to 50 years, to obtain such
amazing results in such a short time as ten weeks sounds almost
miraculous.

Important: The information given in The Eye of Revelation was, for twenty-five
centuries, confined strictly to men. Now, to the surprise and delight of all
concerned, it has been found that women, too, get equally beneficial and amazing
results. Now, after this long period of waiting every adult, man or woman, can
go on to grand and glorious things, regardless of age, environment or
circumstances.

Get started at
once on the marvelous work of Rejuvenation, Transmutation, and Youthification.
May success, health, energy, power, vigor, virility, and Life follow your
footsteps forever.

Rob's Note: I have know Chet for years and have learned a lot from him. I have talked with him
personally and highly recommend this book on the five tibetan rejuvenation rites for anyone inclined to have a safe, easy and effective exercise routine they can perform daily.
High School

This is part 2 of my Weight Loss Story

I was in my final year of high school and I was 320lbs. I was
subject to numerous jokes around school. I think the final straw was when
I returned to my locker after a class and found a bra attached to my lock.
I went on a Herbalife Diet program. Herbalife tastes
like shit. I had one awful shake in the morning along with some vitamins
and a shot of aloe vera juice. Then went off to school and expected to
learn with my brain running on that crap. Then I raced home for dinner
and feasted on another shake of that same Herbalife crap and
more vitamins. For supper I was allowed to eat some food, and they
recommended a steak and	potato as I recall. In a short six months,
			I lost 80lbs. I graduated weighing 240lbs. I was
happy about that. I think the only reason I lost any weight was not
due to Herbalife, but to the elimination of all the garbage
and high fat foods I had been eating. I must have cut 2000
			calories from my diet alone.

After graduation, I got a job in a
bakery as the fryer and bakers helper. Hmmmmm... What a test. In
3 months, I only put on one pound. Not too bad. I stayed out of
school for about a year, working in my hometown.

The following year, I was off to University in Saskatoon, Sask. and with a
large student loan I was able to buy any kinds of food that I
liked. I ate a lot of Kentucky Fried Chicken and pizza. Without
any physical activity, the weight started to creep back on. One
year later, in 1987, I was 320 again. I remember my sister
visiting me one time (she's a nutritionist), and seeing me.
She came back a little later on in the day with a bag of groceries
containing vegetable soup, whole wheat bread and the like. I had no
interest in that type of food. If it wasn't round and covered in cheese,
I didn't eat it. Her intentions were good of course, but it just wasn't
			going to work.

Another sad thing about my weight gain was that I had
bought a high performance motorcycle in 1986 when I graduated.
It was a $6000 Yamaha FJ1200. I got too fat for it and ended up
trading it for a car that had a blown cylinder head. I was not making
			good decisions.

It was here that I quit school to move to Edmonton to
become a cab driver. That would surely solve my weight problem!

Weight Loss Story

I was born in Melfort Saskatchewan when I was very very young.
(I put that joke on an essay in school in grade 11 and he didn't get it!).
My mother was a good cook, and was health conscious. We always had fruit on
the table for us to snack on.

The earliest I remember having a weight problem
was in grade five. My Weight loss story begins there I guess. I was 175lbs and mom decided that I
should attend Weight Watchers. I went religiously (Ha...meetings
were held in the basement of a church) for I can't remember how long. I also
don't remember if I lost any weight. I do remember that I had a sunflower
seed habit of eating 1 family pack of SS every day! I remember that because
I was told that I couldn't keep that habit up as SS were almost total fat.

For the next couple of years I was pretty steady at playing hockey in town,
so got some steady exercise. Then in grade seven I gave up hockey and the
			 weight started to pile on.

During grade seven, eight, and nine, I was so
self-conscious of my weight that I always wore an eiderdown vest to try
and conceal my weight. I never took that stupid thing off! It got to the
point where I was called to the office by the principal and ordered to
			 take it off.

This was one of the most embarassing moments in my story. I had been called to his office simply because of the coat and my weight. I thought
about how all the teachers had been discussing my weight and this was the final product of their conversations. Then... then I had to walk back to my
room and spend the rest of the day and upcoming weeks without my protective coat hiding my weight.

My recollections of grade 10 are that I ate at least 1
chocolate bar, 1 Super Big Gulp and 1 entire bag of Zesty Cheese Taco's
every single day. By grade 12, I was 320lbs

They contain no cholesterol and they have lots of nutrients like antioxidants.

Do you know that every year, about 500,000 persons in America suffer from heart disease? One of the main reasons behind this huge number is high cholesterol levels. According to studies, if people lower their cholesterol levels, the risk of heart disease will be reduced by up to 40 percent. But what are these cholesterol levels?

Cholesterol levels include the numbers that will indicate whether the cholesterol in your body is desirable, borderline, or less desirable and high risk. By knowing these levels, you will become aware of your condition, allowing you to take the necessary measures to reduce the risk of heart disease. If your cholesterol has already reached the high-risk level, you can seek medical attention at once for cholesterol medication.

Tip! Cell membranes contain cholesterol.

The numbers of cholesterol levels include the average figures for total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, and LDL cholesterol.

The total cholesterol is HDL cholesterol and LDL cholesterol combined. But if the level is 200 to 240mg/dL, it is already considered borderline. Any figure higher than 240mg/dL means you are at a high risk for both heart attack and stroke. Meanwhile, the desirable level for HDL cholesterol level is above 45mg/dL, the HDL borderline is 35 to 45mg/dL, and high risk is below 35mg/dL. For LDL cholesterol, the desirable figure is below 130mg/dL, borderline is 130 to 160mg/dL, and high risk is above 160mg/dL.

The Prescription Free Cholesterol Cure. Discover How To Lower Cholesterol Without Drugs.

2 Simple Steps To Ripped Shredded Muscles

Building muscle, the straight scoop on getting ripped shredded muscle...

Picture this scenario...

You've been training your tail off for the past 4 months, trying to pack on as much muscle size as you possibly can.
You've bulked up considerably and are quite happy with the size you've been able to achieve. Bodybuilding is paying off for you.

There's just one problem...

Along with all of that solid, lean muscle you've gained, you notice that you've also packed on some excess body fat in the process.

Let's face it, no matter how "huge" you might be, no matter how long you've been bodybuilding, no one wants to be walking around with a soft, smooth and flabby body. After most
trainees have finished their "bulking" phase, they decide that it's time to "cut down" and strip off the excess body fat that they
gained due to their high calorie, bodybuilding diet.

How do they usually go about this?

They lighten up the weights and perform higher reps.

This has always been a widely accepted method of “cutting down” and if you ask most trainers in the gym they’ll tell you that
“heavy weights bulk up the muscle and lighter weights define the muscle”.

Do you want to know the reality behind the “light weight and high reps” method of building muscle and obtaining a ripped and defined physique?

It is completely, totally and utterly DEAD WRONG.

It couldn’t be farther from the truth. In fact, there is no logical basis for this way of bodybuilding whatsoever, and whoever
dreamt up this downright ridiculous way of thinking has caused the vast majority of lifters to waste their time and impede their progress in the gym.

Let me clear this up once and for all: you CANNOT spot reduce. In other words, it is physically impossible to target fat loss
from a specific area on your body. Performing bench presses with light resistance and high repetitions will not magically burn
fat off of your chest or cause it to appear harder and more defined. It's not a smart way of building muscle!

Every single time you wrap your hands around a barbell, dumbbell or cable, your goal is to stimulate as much muscle growth as
you possibly can. There are no special, secret bodybuilding exercises that will “define” your muscles or cause them to become more “ripped”.

Training with weights builds muscle mass, end of story.

So how exactly do you “define” a muscle?

The only way to “define” a muscle is by lowering your body fat percentage in order to make your muscles more visible. Body fat
reduction can be achieved in two ways:

Deadlift - The King Of All Upper Body Exercises

Okay, so you’re looking to pack on some serious muscle mass, right?

You want to build a ripped, rock-solid physique that demands respect and turns heads everywhere you go, correct?

Good.

I’m going to talk to you about one single exercise that will help you to achieve that powerful body
quicker than you ever thought possible.

No, it’s not a bench press or a barbell curl.
It doesn’t involve cables or chrome machines.
You won’t need a swiss ball or any other fancy gym gadgets.

All you need is a good old-fashioned barbell and a flat surface. Load the bar with as much weight as you can handle
and pick it up off the ground while keeping your back straight.

Sounds simple enough, right?

I’m talking, of course, about the undisputed king of all upper body exercises: the deadlift.

If you’re looking to pile as much lean muscle mass onto your frame as humanly possibly in the shortest period of time,
the deadlift is your best friend in the entire world.

That’s the good news.

The bad news is that deadlifts are without a doubt one of the most painful and discomforting exercises you will
ever come across. When performed properly, the deadlift will leave you lightheaded, nauseous, gasping for air and will temporarily
have you wishing that you hadn’t come to the gym in the first place. But if it’s serious results that you’re after, this
is the price you must pay.

The deadlift will work you from finger to neck to toe. It is a raw, basic power movement and will literally stress every
single muscle in your entire body to some degree. The main areas of stimulation are the back and thighs,
but once you start doing the deadlift on a consistent basis you’ll see gains just about everywhere.

The high intensity nature of this basic lift will also force your body to secrete higher amounts of powerful anabolic
substances such as testosterone and growth hormone. This causes what is known as a “spill over effect”, and will result
in new, total body muscle mass and strength gains. For example, after a few weeks of doing heavy deadlifts you should notice that
your other lifts, such as the bench press and barbell row, will suddenly increase.

There a few different variations of the deadlift, but in this article we’ll focus on the basic, standard bent-legged
version. Let’s go over the proper technique...

A book review of "Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle" by Rob Cooper, Formerfatguy

Burn the fat, Feed the Muscle is probably the best book I’ve read in my life. Why would a guy who’s already dropped nearly 300 pounds want to buy and read a book about burning fat? Because I believe in constant and never-ending improvement. I’ve been coaching people for quite a few years and with my success in weight loss and now weight management, you’d think that I knew most everything there was to know about reaching your fat loss goals.

As my personal trainer says "when you have legal problems, you see a lawyer, when you’re sick, you see the doctor and when you want to be in the best physical condition based on your goals, you hire a personal trainer". The same can be said for experts in the fat loss field.

As the end of 2004 approaches, I set out some goals for myself. I have hovered around the 12% body fat level for a couple of years now and I figured it was time to push towards 4%. Readers of this website will know that I am very goal driven and action oriented. I takes steps towards my goal no matter how small as long as I’m always moving in the direction of success. Readers will also know about my firm belief in the power of the Universe and it’s role in helping one achieve their goals when one firmly commits to them.

My decision to do something about my weight back in 1990 led me to resources that I needed and mentors / coaches that held my hand while I learned some basic health and Natural Weight Loss principle’s which led to my loss of 288 pounds of fat.

Plug Stamp: FFGNWL

Ten Changes To Your Diet To Make It Better

                By: Jayson Hunter RD, CSCS
Meal Plans

Most individuals do not eat like they are supposed to. Out of those individuals 95% of them don’t realize that by making 10 simple changes to their eating lifestyle they can improve their diet by 90% along with improving their health and overall well-being.

Apply these changes to your diet today and you too will be experiencing an increased benefit to your health, probable weight loss, a leaner body, and likely improvements to your blood profile. This all equals a longer healthier life.

Now let’s get started so you can benefit from these 10 simple changes that everyone can make immediately.

1. Hydration: Is there a difference

Consume Green Tea or Water instead of calorie filled drinks such as soft drinks. Green Tea has many health benefits and is a powerful antioxidant. You should be drinking 1ml of non-caffeinated fluid for every calorie that you consume. This works out between (8-12) 8oz glasses of Green Tea or Water a day.

2. Benefits of Fiber

Recommend consuming 25-35 grams of fiber per day. Since the average diet contains only 14 grams we could all use more fiber. Fiber will help satisfy hunger pangs as well as control insulin and blood sugar levels which tend to promote fat storage when they are elevated. By simply eating at least 1 serving of fruit and vegetables at every meal should get you to the goal of 25-35 grams of fiber per day.

3. The Importance of Protein

Eat lean protein sources which include; lean beef, chicken breasts, turkey breasts, salmon, low-fat cottage cheese and other low-fat dairy products, and whey protein powders, at every meal. This will also help control insulin levels and satisfy hunger pangs which tend to promote fat storage. You will find yourself naturally eating less food throughout the day if you eat some type of lean protein at every meal.

4. Frequent Meals: Why?

Eat 4-6 small meals day a day instead of the usual 2-3 large meals. Eating frequently will help regulate and boost your metabolism to burn more calories. By also including your protein and vegetables at these meals you will tend to eat less overall thereby reducing your calorie intake.

5. What are Whole Foods?

Consume whole foods that are high in fiber and low in sugar such as lean protein (lean beef, chicken, fish, and whey protein), fruits & vegetables (oranges, apples, strawberries, blueberries, broccoli, peppers, asparagus, carrots, nuts (almonds, cashews, & walnuts), and whole grains.

Try to minimize processed foods that come in a box or a bag. Instead choose whole grain choices such as whole wheat foods, oatmeals, and vegetables.

Bodybuilding - Build Massive Biceps and Triceps

The Truth About Building Massive Biceps and Triceps

It’s no secret that every serious lifter out there desires an impressive pair of strong, muscular arms.

Who wouldn’t be happy with tall, peaking biceps sitting on top of rock-hard, horse-shoe-shaped triceps? Who wouldn’t
love to have a pair of ripped, well-developed guns forcefully bursting through the sleeves of their shirt? This arm training article will show you how
and blow the lid off conventional arm training routines.

While developing muscular arms is usually at the top of many peoples’ agenda, the reality is that the majority of
lifters out there have a very poor understanding of how to properly train their arms for maximum gains.

In order to gain the proper insight into effectively stimulating arm growth, we must first recognize three basic truths:

Relatively speaking, the biceps and triceps are small muscle groups.

The biceps receive heavy stimulation during all basic pulling movements for the back.

The triceps receive heavy stimulation during all basic pressing movements for the chest and shoulders.

What do these 3 points tell us about effective arm training?

Arm Training

The most important thing for you to realize is this:

For maximum gains in muscle size and strength, the biceps and triceps require only a very small
amount of direct stimulation!

So why is it that every time I enter the gym I see the same misinformed people, week in and week out, slaving away on
endless sets of bicep curls and tricep extensions?

It’s very important to understand that the biceps and triceps receive a very large amount of stimulation from all
of your chest and back training. Couple this with the fact that your biceps and triceps are already small muscle groups
to begin with and it becomes quite clear that direct arm training is of minor importance.

[Robs Note:] My Personal trainer has this same view about arm training. Her theory is that if I was not to do
any arm training at all, my arms would get bigger as a result of the stimulation they got from back and chest workouts. We've completely cut
arm training out of my program and are monitoring my growth on a monthly basis. To be honest (and dont tell her this), but I still train arms,
but in the fashion outlined here. I train them once during my rotation per 7 days and it's a heavy workout with few reps and only 2 exercise
per side (tricep / bicep). Have you ever noticed that after a short time off from training, your arms hurt after doing your chest or back workouts?.
Same deal. They DO get worked without direct stimulation and are subject to overtraining quite easily.

Read the rest of this Arm Training article

Plug Stamp: FFGNWL

Supplement Combinations

Writen by an anonymous writer, but very well could have parallelled my own experience. This writer has chosen the exact same body building supplement stack that I use.

I get quite a few emails asking about
various supplement combinations, stacking different supplements,
or how to use some supplements. After my recent return to
serious lifting after a one year layoff, I did a basic cycle
(about 7 weeks) using the basics, and came back with a 18lb
gain in these 7 weeks. (of course, its always easier to
                      gain back what you lost.)

So, I'm writing this (probably long) guide
now to answer some of these most often asked questions,
and hopefully help you out. ;-) Now, this guide is just
for beginners who are using some basics bodybuilding supplements, but
lack a good understanding, or for anyone who's considering
using some supplements for the first time. If you've
been using supplements for awhile, then you probably shouldn't
waste your time reading this. But feel free to do so.

Hopefully after you read this, you'll
gain a good understanding of the basic supplements, and
learn to use them to maximize your gains. So, here's what

Atkins Diet Lies Part 1 - Weight Loss Information

10 Lies About The Atkins Diet

... and The Surprising Truth That The Low Carb Gurus Don't Want You To Know About

www.burnthefatbook.com

Low carbohydrate diets such as Atkins have always been controversial, but with the recent wave of new research and publicity, the controversy is now raging hotter than ever. One headline in the San Francisco Chronicle said that the battle between the low and high carbers had become so heated since mid 2002 that "Knives had been drawn."

From my vantage point (as a health and fitness professional down in the trenches), it looks more like tanks, artillery and machine guns have been drawn! Tragically, the people being hurt the most by these "diet wars" are not the experts, but the dieters.

After its original publication in 1972, The Atkins Diet was regurgitated in 1992 as "Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution," creating a new surge of interest in low carbohydrate dieting. Then, in July of 2002, the controversy reached an all time high when the New York Times Magazine published an essay by Gary Taubes titled, "What if it's all been a big fat lie?" The article suggested that new research was now proving the late Dr. Atkins had been right all along.

More research in 2003 seemed to corroborate the Taubes story: Two studies in the New England Journal of Medicine in May of 2003, and another in June 2003 in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, suggested that Atkins was equally, if not more effective for weight loss than conventional diets – at least in the short term.

With the publication of this new information, Atkins supporters boasted, "See, I told you so,” while their opponents fired back in defense of their high carb, low fat positions. Meanwhile, low carb foods and supplements became all the rage, bread and pasta sales took a nosedive and the wheat industry cried the blues.

With differences in opinion as opposite as the North and South Poles, it's become unbearably confusing and frustrating to know which weight loss method is best and safest. At the date of this writing, in late 2003, obesity has reached an all time high –AGAIN! According to the Journal of the American Medical Association, 64% of Americans are overweight and 31% are obese, and it's only getting worse.

Obviously, the popular natural weight loss methods today – including the low carb diet – are still missing something…but what?

If you're confused by the whole high carb, low carb thing and if you're frustrated with your attempts at trying to lose weight and keep it off, then this may be the most important report you will ever read. In the next few minutes, you'll discover the real truth about low carb diets and a real solution to the problem of excess body fat. Read on to learn the 10 Lies about the Atkins diet and the truth that will set your body free!

Lie #1: The Atkins and other low carb diets don't work

If your definition of what "works" is quick weight loss, then the Atkins Diet DOES work. Recent studies showed that the Atkins Diet causes greater weight loss than the American Heart Association-recommended high carb, low fat diet. In fact, for obese people with disorders of carbohydrate metabolism (hyperinsulinemia, hypoglycemia, and insulin resistance), Atkins-style diets have been shown to work especially well.

However, if your definition of what "works" is permanent fat loss, then the Atkins diet doesn't fare so well... but neither do any other diets. It seems that despite some encouraging initial successes, Atkin's dieters still face the same difficulties keeping off the weight as everyone else. Some of the same studies showing rapid weight loss on Atkins in the beginning also showed substantial weight gain as soon as the diets ended.

Truth is, a growing body of evidence is mounting that carbohydrate restriction can accelerate weight loss in the short term, but it has yet to be proven that it keeps the fat off in the long run.

Which approach towards low carb dieting is best is also up for debate: Not all low carb diets are high fat or ketogenic and not all are "ultra-low" in carbs. A low carb diet can be low in carbs and high in fat, it can be low in carbs and high in protein, or it can be somewhere in the middle.

I predict that continued research will discover that moderate carbohydrate restriction (especially in a cyclical fashion) and careful selection of carbohydrates, will in fact assist with fat loss via hormonal control, metabolic efficiency and appetite regulation. I believe that neither extreme - the severely restricted low carb diet (ketogenic diet) or the very high carb, low fat diet – will emerge the victor.
Real World Fat Loss Diet & Weight Loss Supplement Review

"Nutritional Myths that Just Won't Die:
Protein!"

When it comes to the topic of sports nutrition there are many myths and
fallacies that float around like some specter in the shadows. They pop up when
you least expect them and throw a monkey wrench into the best laid plans of the
hard training athlete trying to make some headway. Of all the myths that surface
from time to time, the protein myth seems to be the most deep rooted and
pervasive. It just won't go away. The problem is, exactly who, or which group,
is perpetuating the "myth" cant be easily identified. You see, the conservative
nutritional/medical community thinks it is the bodybuilders who perpetuate the
myth that athletes need more protein and we of the bodybuilding community think
it is them (the mainstream nutritional community) that is perpetuating the myth
that athletes don't need additional protein! Who is right?

The conservative medical/nutritional community is an odd group. They make up the
rules as they go along and maintain what I refer to as the "nutritional double
standard." If for example you speak about taking in additional vitamin C to
possibly prevent cancer, heart disease, colds, and other afflictions, they will
come back with "there is still not enough data to support the use of vitamin C
as a preventative measure for these diseases," when in fact there are literary
hundreds of studies showing the many benefits of this vitamin for the prevention
and treatment of said diseases.

And of course, if you tell them you are on a
high protein diet because you are an athlete they will tell you, "oh you don't
want to do that, you don't need it and it will lead to kidney disease" without a
single decent study to back up their claim! You see they too are susceptible to
the skulking myth specter that spreads lies and confusion. In this article I
want to address once and for all (hopefully) the protein myth as it applies to
what the average person is told when they tell their doctor or some anemic "all
you need are the RDAs" spouting nutritionist that he or she is following a high
protein diet.

Food Combining For Weight Loss

There are sound physiological reasons for eating foods in compatible
combinations. In other words, some foods, if mixed in the digestive system, will
cause distress! The principles of food combining are dictated by digestive
chemistry. Different foods are digested differently. Starchy foods require an
alkaline digestive medium which is supplied initially in the mouth by the enzyme
ptyalin. Protein foods require an acid medium for digestion- hydrochloric
				acid.

As any student of chemistry will assure you, acids and bases (alkalis)
neutralize each other. If you eat a starch with a protein, digestion is impaired
or completely arrested! The undigested food mass can cause various kinds of
digestive disorders. Undigested food becomes soil for bacteria which ferment and
decompose it. Its by products are poisonous, one of which, alcohol, is a
narcotic that destroys or inhibits nerve function. It plays havoc with nerves of
the digestive tract, suspending their vital action such that constipation may
well be a result! As set forth in Dr. Herbert Shelton's FOOD COMBINING MADE EASY
these are the salient rules for proper food combining.

What follows is a listing of the most potent foods to add to your diet if you want to fight high cholesterol and drive your levels down using your diet as a primary tool.

What is cholesterol?

Cholesterol is a type of fat (lipid) made by the body. About 80% of cholesterol is made by the body, the other 20% comes from the diet. Cholesterol is a building block for cell membranes. Our body uses cholesterol to produce many hormones (e.g., progesterone, estrogen, testosterone), vitamin D, and the bile acids that help to digest fat.

Many foods contain cholesterol and high intake of these foods can increase the level of cholesterol in the blood. Having too much cholesterol in the blood is not a disease in itself, but high cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia) can cause the formation and accumulation of plaque deposits in the arteries. Plaque is composed of cholesterol, other fatty substances, fibrous tissue, and calcium. When it builds up in the arteries, it results in the hardening and narrowing of the arteries (atherosclerosis) in the major vascular systems.

Narrowing of the arteries around the heart (coronary heart disease) can prevent the heart from getting as much oxygen-rich blood as it needs, increasing the risk of a heart attack. Decreased blood flow to the brain can cause a stroke, and less blood flowing to the lower limbs may result in exercise-related pain or even gangrene.

Having a high cholesterol level does not cause symptoms and does not make you feel sick. If there is a huge excess, some people develop soft, yellowish skin growths called xanthomas, usually in the area near the eyes. Most people find out they have high cholesterol when they have their blood cholesterol measured as part of a medical check-up.

Yeast may overgrow when antibiotics, medications,
drugs, birth control and hormone pills, and steroids (such as Prednisone
and Cortisone) are taken. These medications tend to kill the good
bacteria in addition to the bad bacteria that caused the present
illness. This allows the yeast to reign freely until our Immune System
					beats it back once again.

The typical modern diet facilitates the problem.
Refined sugars and high starch/carbohydrate foods give the yeast exactly
what it needs to flourish. (This is why we add sugar or honey to the
yeast when we make bread! This is also why so many people CRAVE sweets

Candida Yeast Is An Infection

Candida Yeast is a negative YEAST INFECTION that begins in the digestive system and little by little spreads to other parts of the body.
It is a strong, invasive parasite that attaches itself to the intestinal wall and becomes a permanent resident of your internal organs.
It is causing numerous health problems and discomfort for over 30 million men and women every day and it is estimated that nearly everyone
has or will have a moderate to serious Candida condition eventually in their lives.

It is a major contributing factor to he cause of:

Chronic Fatigue

Immune Weakness

Allergies

Systemic Degeneration

Complete Relief from Yeast Infection in HOURS. Safe, 100% Natural and Drug Free.

12 Hour Cure For Yeast Infection

A Candida yeast cell produces over 75 known toxic substances that negatively poison the human body. These toxins contaminate the tissues where
it weakens the immune system, the glands, the kidneys, bladder, lungs, liver and especially the brain and nervous system. Candida yeast
can become so massive and invasive that is enters the FUNGAL form where it provides very long, root-like structures that penetrate the
mucous lining of the gastrointestinal wall. This penetration breaks down the protective barrier between the intestinal tract and bloodstream,
allowing many foreign and toxic substances to enter and pollute the body systemically. As a result, proteins and other food wastes that are not
completely digested or eliminated can assault the immune system and cause tremendous allergic reactions, fatigue and many other health problems.
It also allows the Candida Yeast itself and bacteria to enter the bloodstream, from which it may find its way to other tissues, resulting in far-ranging
effects such as soreness of the joints, chest pain, sinus and skin problems, etc. An autopsy done on a lady who had died of heart failure for no
apparent reason, found that her heart was encased with Candida yeast. Vaginal yeast infections are more prevalent today than ever, and they will
never completely go away until the Candida yeast has been cleared from the intestinal area. To make matters worse, Candida can be sexually encouraged from
	one person to another.

Complete Relief from Yeast Infection in HOURS. Safe, 100% Natural and Drug Free.

12 Hour Cure For Yeast Infection

Candida Yeast covers the intestinal wall which chemically and mechanically interferes with digestion and assimilation of food nutrients. Many people,
especially senior citizens, cancer victims and those with AIDS are wasting away for want of nutrition because they cannot absorb what they eat.
Many people digest less than 50% of their food because the Candida Yeast creates a digestive conflict and robs them of their nutrition. Candida Yeast creates
chaos in the intestines and diseases of which the doctors have little or no answer and can use only medicines to treat it.
ALL IMMUNOLOGICAL WEAKNESSES AND INFECTIOUS CONDITIONS are made worse by the presence of Candida Yeast throughout the body.

The major waste product of yeast cell activity is acetaidehyde and the by-product ethanol. Many people have a low iron content because this
mineral is hard to absorb when Candida Yeast is present, and therefore have little oxygen in the tissues. Ethanol can cause excessive fatigue and
reduces the strength and stamina which takes away ambition. It destroys enzymes needed for cell energy and causes the release of free radicals
	that encourages the aging process.

Candida Yeast in an incredible destroyer of health and is the main missing link in many of our modern day diseases and sub-health
conditions. The fact that Candida can rob the body of its nutrition and poison the tissues with it toxins is a major contribution,
directly or indirectly to the following list of serious conditions:

High Cholesterol May Cause Prostate Cancer Development

According to general medical opinion regarding causes of prostate cancer, the risk factors are age, ethnic history and family background.

But recently, a research study have found that <a href="http://www.formerfatguy.com/high-cholesterol/high-cholesterol.asp" title="high cholesterol">high cholesterol</a> levels speed up the growth of prostate tumours. This conclusion may help to find an explanation regarding the fact prostate cancer is more frequent in the West world than in Asian countries because of diets <a href="http://www.formerfatguy.com/high-cholesterol/" title="high cholesterol">high in cholesterol</a>. For instance, in rural parts of Japan and China, where people use low fat diets, rates of prostate cancer are up to 90% less than in the West countries. It is also a reality that in United States prostate cancer hits about one in every six men.<p>Plug Stamp: <b>FFGNWL</b></p>

Top 10 Ways To Lower Your High Blood Pressure

BOSTON, MA A special four-page section in the September issue of the Harvard Heart Letter takes a look at the latest
thinking on high blood pressure. It includes information on blood pressure basics, measuring change, and the definition
of what’s normal. The section also offers 10 steps for getting your blood pressure under control and keeping it there: I might call it the Top 10 Ways To Lower Your High Blood Pressure

Check it. You can’t do much about your blood pressure unless you know what it is. Your doctor should check it at every visit. Measuring at home between visits is even better.

Get moving. Exercise can lower blood pressure by 10 points, prevent the onset of high blood pressure, or let you reduce your dosage of blood pressure medications.

Eat right. A diet for better blood pressure emphasizes fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy products, whole grains, poultry, fish, and nuts.

Control your weight. If you are overweight, losing weight can lower your blood pressure.

Don’t smoke. Smoking a cigarette can cause a 20-point spike in systolic blood pressure.

Drink alcohol in moderation. Going beyond a drink a day can contribute to higher blood pressure.

Shake up your salts. Too much sodium and too little potassium can boost blood pressure. Aim for less than 1.5 grams of sodium a day, and at least 4.7 grams of potassium from fruits and vegetables.

Sleep is good. Chronic lack of sleep can contribute to high blood pressure. Get at least six hours a night.

Read about the Power Sleep System for natural ways to sleep less and awake feeling refreshed.

Reduce stress. Mental and emotional stress can raise blood pressure. Meditation and deep breathing can lower it.

Meditation is a great way to lower stress levels. Here is a meditation CD based on scientific technology that can help you lower stress.

Stick with your medications. Taking medication can keep you from having a stroke or heart attack.

Natural Cure For High Blood Pressure

Today my guest is Frank Mangano, who is the author of The Silent Killer Exposed, which is the best selling e-book on the net on the subject of natural ways to reduce your blood pressure.

Now this is a subject I’m passionate about for a couple reasons. First, because the issue goes hand in hand with the obesity issue, which is my primary area of research and expertise and second, because I’m not only an advocate of losing fat and developing your body without drugs, but also an advocate of improving your health in natural ways without drugs, whenever that is possible.

Your health is absolutely your greatest wealth because everything else in your life is meaningless if you don’t have your health. You have to put your own health at the very top of your life priority list. You can’t spend quality time with your family or advance your career, or enjoy anything else in life if you’re laid up in a hospital bed... or worse.

As a natural bodybuilder and fat loss coach, I’m interested not only in being muscular and having six pack abs and so on, but also feeling great and enjoying great health. What good is it to look great on the outside when you’re a mess on the inside, right? So when I say the word natural, I’m referring not only to saying no to steroids and weight loss drugs, but also staying away from other drugs, if those drugs are being used as a means of treating symptoms and not addressing causes, and if there’s an alternative.

First off, before we get into talking about this problem of high blood pressure, how it relates to the obesity problem and what are some natural approaches to fixing it let, me just back up for a minute and explain how I found out about Frank.

For many years, I was the manager of a chain of health clubs here in the New Jersey and New York Metropolitan area, and I met Frank because coincidentally, he was a member of one of our health clubs located in Brooklyn. At the time, I had no idea he was a natural health book author and expert on blood pressure, he was just one of the guys at the gym. It was only later that he found my
Burn The Fat website by accident and mentioned that he also had a website dedicated to natural approaches to better health, and that’s how we originally connected.

So Frank, thank you for this interview and why don’t we get started by you telling us about your background. Specifically, what made you take an interest in researching this subject... was it an academic interest, or was it personal, like did you or a family member have high blood pressure, or was it something else?
Plug Stamp: FFGNWL

How Do I Diet

                By Rob Cooper

The question How Do I diet can be answered in various ways depending on your goals or your desired outcome. You may want to know how to diet in order to lose 10 pounds in the next few weeks or months for some important event like a wedding, a graduation or to get ready for the beach.

How do I diet should be answered, in my humble opinion, on the basis of health.

The word diet is synonymous with starving oneself and I don’t advise you do that. In fact, what I recommend is to eat as healthy and as clean as possible and use the principle of substitution instead of starving yourself.

Your first priority should be to learn about health and nutrition and stop asking how to diet and instead ask yourself,"what could I possibly not know about foods that are keeping me from my goal?"

You’ll want to learn about the Power of Protein, good carbohydrates, the importance of water in your diet and the power of your mind to achieve success. You’ll want to learn about good fats to add to your diet to help you achieve your goals.

How do I diet should be thought of as 'how do I exercise'. Exercise goes hand in hand with your goals of weight loss, if you've got 10 pounds to lose, or losing those last 10 pounds (or first 10 for that matter). Never ever consider dieting without the thought of exercise.

ok, so you want to know how to diet. Here’s some thoughts from myself, a guy who dropped nearly 300 pounds of fat (so I should know a little bit about what I’m talking about)

Learn about foods - Learn all you can from a variety of sources and never consider any one thing as gospel. Continue to learn, apply what you learn and try new things. Experiment with food.
You may have 10 pounds to lose and you’re just starting your fat loss program, or it may be the last 10 pounds to lose from months or years of constant work. The last 10 pounds are the easiest ones to lose and let me tell you how.

One critical thing when trying for the last 10 pounds to lose is the power of the mind. First of all, don't "try" to lose the last 10 pounds, but rather do it. Know that it is going to happen and expect it to happen. Simple enough to say, but it is true. When we get to the last 10 pounds to lose, we begin to coast and ease up on our training and commitment, but I’m telling you to do exactly the opposite. This is the time to push forward and pick up speed, and be every more diligent in your choices. You must know in your mind that the last 10 pounds to lose is the easiest part of the journey. Use the power of your mind to visualize success and yourself not only standing at the finish line having successfully achieved your goal, but even more so than that.. Visualize yourself picking up speed and running through the finish line. Your motto should be "there is nothing more powerful than a warrior running through the finish line". Be a fat burning warrior.
Plug Stamp: FFGNWL

Overweight People May Be Undernourished

It may be hard to think of overweight people as being undernourished but think about it. Our bodies require all of the essential elements to go about their business of building, maintaining and restoring themselves. When the food you eat doesn't contain enough of the elemental building blocks, your body signals your brain to tell you to eat more. It is quite natural for you to willingly oblige and when you do it is quite natural for your body to store those extra calories as fat. If your body was getting everything it needed it wouldn't be hungry and if it wasn't hungry you wouldn't be fat. Sound simple, it is! Weight control is a natural function of your body. Simply give it what it needs and it will respond. Let’s play Sherlock Holmes for a few minutes, let’s begin at the beginning and follow the deductive reasoning that illustrates these simple facts.<p>Plug Stamp: <b>FFGNWL</b></p>

Fat Wars

                What is weight?

I have always noted when I speak about fat loss, not weight loss. There is good and bad weight. Having lean body mass is an imporant aspect of being healthy and dont forget that our organs are all muscles. When they're in good working order, they just happen to weigh something.

Lets be specific!
Most people want to lose weight, but I always ask, "what kind of weight do you want to lose?". Hardly anybody goes around saying "I want to lose 10 pounds of fat", and I hope nobody goes around saying "I want to lose 10 pounds of muscle" !.

Most traditional diets over the years have never considered the fact that fat is incredibly hard to burn. The body will take the path of least resistance and burn muscle tissue instead. Most diets have you lose water and muscle, but very little fat.

The ideal situaton would be to balance your intake of proteins and carbs (low glycemic carbs) over the day so as to have the proper hormonal balance which puts your body in a state of constantly burning fat for fuel instead of sugars for fuel. The idea is to not flood your body with sugar from excess carbs which allows you to be burning fat even while you sleep.

Good weight, Bad weight
So guess which is the good weight? I weigh 220 pounds of which 11% is body fat. The rest is lean body tissue including bone. I have no problems telling people what I weigh, but they immediatly make an assumption (if they're not seeing me in person), that I've put fat on, or I'm out of control, or whatever else comes to mind. What they don't realize is that I train 6 days a week in the gym (resistance training), do 3 days a week of cardio in the mornings, and two or three days a week do taekwondo. I am 6'3" and carry the muscle very well.

So which are you?
Plug Stamp: FFGNWL
