The application demonstrates the use of several useful technologies:

The Google Analytics Data Export API.

The Google Analytics API PHP Class developed by Chris Hope.

The excellent Open Flash Chart 2 Flash charting component. This component is used for the majority of the charts.

The Google Visualization API used for the GEO Map as Open Flash Chart doesn’t currently support this. Also the Google Chart API has been used for the sparklines and for the GEO Map chart in the PDF Reports.

The FPDP Library is used for the generation of the PDF files on the server.

The demo can be viewed at Red5 Analytics Demo.

The demo by default uses the Google Analytics Data from this site however you can change it to view the data from any analytics account using the settings dialog:

Just enter the account details and select one of the accounts from the accounts drop down and the data will be fetched for that account.

The account details are stored in a cookie and the password is encrypted and never passed in plain text.

Screen shot

On Saturday 28th June my wife, daughter and I went to see Mamma Mia at the Prince of Wales theatre in London’s West End.

For those who don’t know this is the musical based around the hits of Abba, that tells the story of a young girls wedding on a small Greek island to which she invites 3 of her mother’s past lovers each of who could be her farther.

The Abba songs are very cleverly incoporated into the story, in some cases a bit cheesily. There are also some very funny moments.

The whole product was quite superb and I can recommend that anybody who gets a chance to see this does so, you don’t have to be a die hard fan of Abba, it’s jsut very enjoyable.

As as first timer at the Isle of Wight Festival at the age of 42 I thought it was great, the line up was what really attracted me so well done on that. I have been a huge fan of The Stranglers, The Sex Pistols and The Police for many years and the opportunity to see all of them in 1 weekend was too good to pass up.

I travelled by train and foot passenger to the site and had no problems in either getting there or getting away Monday morning. (just one word of advice, buy your bus tickect early, I did and it saved queuing with a heavy rucksack, I just got staright on a bus).

I have only really one quite small gripe and that is that I did not arrive till about 4:00pm on Friday and by this time finding a place to pitch the tent was somewhat difficult, I know I was a bit late but that couldn’t be helped but wehat was annoying was that there did not seem to be any information availiable as to where there was any space left or if any space had been held back for latecomers. I paid the same price so why should I not get a space to put up the tent.

For next time, could we have an alternative to the lager/cider I am a real ale fan and had to pop into Newport on Saturday to get a decent pint.

As far as line up go I would say just keep it a diverse as possible, some old stuff and some new stuff and mix it up through the weekend. Definately keep the Big Top, but as many other have said keep it away from other load music. This also applies to the Platform One stage, where I saw some excellent performances that were somewhat competing with the noise form the varoius fairground rides with their thumping music.
