As Paul tells Timothy in his letter to him, he has taught Timothy, mentored him and lived as an example to him with a long view toward eternity. Paul’s letter poses the question we must answer: What are we going to do with what we’ve been given? Legacy is not just something given to us - but something we give away to others.

http://s3.amazonaws.com/churchplantmedia-cms/the_north_canton_chapel/ryan-johnston-may-8-2016.mp3

“Eternal Perspective” - Matt Brumfield

Matt Brumfield, Pastor of Student Ministries, teaches this week from Ephesians 2. As we move through each stage of life our perspective changes - we see difficult challenges where before we experienced rainbows and butterflies. And when we accept Jesus Christ as our savior our perspective changes to realize that we have a Father in heaven who loves us unconditionally. In Ephesians the apostle Paul reminds us of the transforming grace we receive through Christ’s death on the cross. But is it enough to know Jesus died on the cross for us - or do we need to change our perspective even more to live fully for Him?

http://s3.amazonaws.com/churchplantmedia-cms/the_north_canton_chapel/matt-brumfield-may-1-2016.mp3

“Authority Over All” - Ryan Johnston

Ryan Johnston teaches from Mark Chapter 5 and the passage in which the demon-possessed man is saved from the evil forces that have gripped him emotionally, spiritually and physically. In this passage three main points are driven home: 1) Jesus is God; 2) Jesus is powerful, and; 3) Jesus must be proclaimed. This portion of scripture shows that even a legion of demons believes that Jesus is the Son of the Most High God - but they don’t accept Jesus as their savior and live according to his ways. The challenge we face today is to proclaim and live in a way that shows Jesus is the authority over ALL of life.

http://s3.amazonaws.com/churchplantmedia-cms/the_north_canton_chapel/ryan-johnston-april-24-2016.mp3

“Missions Moment”

This week Ryan Johnston interviews members of the missions teams who have traveled to Cuba and Thailand to share the opportunities and challenges of sharing the Gospel in very different but similarly challenging countries. The storm is raging and the disciples question Christ’s concern for their lives. But Jesus showed his followers he is aware of their circumstances, he is capable of calming the storms of life and - most importantly - He Is Lord. Christ is Lord of everything - not just some things - but everything. Is today the day you trust Jesus to be Lord of all of your life?

http://s3.amazonaws.com/churchplantmedia-cms/the_north_canton_chapel/ryan_johnston_april_10_2016.mp3

“Parable: Kingdom” - Jim Colledge

This week guest speaker Jim Colledge continues the Parables series from the Gospel of Mark - this week in Chapter 4. In the parable in these verses and the one before it, Jesus again demonstrates the power of a parable or story to connect abstract ideas with the concrete and to cause people to think for themselves. The power of this particular parable is its ability communicate that the Kingdom of God is meant to live, to grow and that it should take root. Jesus’ story tells us that he has opened the way to the Kingdom of God. Have you listened to Jesus? Is he your savior?

http://s3.amazonaws.com/churchplantmedia-cms/the_north_canton_chapel/jim_colledge_april_3_2016.mp3

“All of Life: Salvation” - Ryan Johnston

Easter Sunday is defined in so many ways, but in his message this week Ryan Johnston teaches from John 3:16 & 17. “For God so loved the world…” This familiar yet profound passage teaches us that claims that “things” of this world will bring us significance are not true. In fact, life and significance is found in recognizing and worshiping our Creator. God made us, He knows us, and He loves us - so much that he gave us his son Jesus to redeem us. This Easter, place your life and confidence fully in Jesus Christ and enter a new life of freedom and true significance.

http://s3.amazonaws.com/churchplantmedia-cms/the_north_canton_chapel/ryan_johnston_march_27_2016.mp3

“All Of Life: Redemption” - Ryan Johnston

This Palm Sunday Ryan Johnston teaches from two passages - Matthew 21 in which Jesus’ entrance into Jerusalem is described, and 1 Corinthians in which Paul reminds of how we are to live our lives for Christ knowing of the events of Holy Week. In this short All Of Life series surrounding Easter we have the opportunity to live the present tense reality that Jesus is risen! We know of his triumphant entry into Jerusalem, his trial, crucifixion, death - and resurrection. As Paul says in 1 Corinthians, we are being saved if we hold fast to the word he preached to us. Are you living in anticipation of his resurrection? Or are you living a redeemed life thanks to the reality that he paid the penalty for our sins?

http://s3.amazonaws.com/churchplantmedia-cms/the_north_canton_chapel/ryan_johnston_march_20_2016.mp3

“Parable: Action” - Ryan Johnston

Ryan Johnston continues in Mark Chapter 4 and the conclusion of the parable of the seeds and the soil. Once we know what the parable of the seeds and the soil means, what do we do with it? It is one thing to know what Jesus is teaching us and yet without action we are living a life that isn’t truly lived for Christ - we are living just to have a position of knowledge. We must continue to grow up and mature in our faith, and that includes taking action in our faith. What do we do when we hear God’s Word? Do we allow it to grow in our head and our heart AND our hands?

http://s3.amazonaws.com/churchplantmedia-cms/the_north_canton_chapel/ryan_johnston_march_13_2016.mp3

“Seeds and Soil” - Ryan Johnston

This week begins a new series on the parables of Jesus in the Gospel of Mark. In the first 20 verses of Chapter 4, Jesus teaches the parable of the seeds scattered on different types of soil. Ryan Johnston teaches us how the four types of soil Jesus mentions are reflective of the condition of our heart. Is our heart like rocky ground that allows his Word to grow for a short time till difficulties derail us? Or are we a fertile soil that will be a good place for the seed of Jesus’ words to take root?

http://s3.amazonaws.com/churchplantmedia-cms/the_north_canton_chapel/ryan_johnston_march_6_2016.mp3

“Message and Calling: The Remix” - James Talbert

This week James Talbert, our church planting resident pastor, preaches from Mark chapter 1. In this passage Jesus proclaims that the kingdom of God is at hand - a proclamation that surely upset the religious leadership of the day. But Christ didn’t make his announcement in a vacuum - and we learn in today’s message that from the beginning of creation God has planned for his kingdom to return with even greater glory. And the good news? We are given the power and the authority by the Holy Spirit to share salvation through Christ - and in the book of Mark we see that action in sharing Jesus and not just knowing about Jesus is required. Listen carefully to this remix of the Gospel message!

http://s3.amazonaws.com/churchplantmedia-cms/the_north_canton_chapel/james_talbert_feb_28_2016.mp3

“Disciple: Faithfulness In Opposition, 2″ - Ryan Johnston

Continuing the message from last week, Ryan Johnston teaches from Mark Chapter 3. Our culture tells us it is insane to follow the teachings of Jesus, that we should instead live the shallow life of this world and chase after money, fame and anything else that is in opposition to what Jesus taught. We must realize that the pressures we feel to disavow Jesus were the same pressures Jesus himself dealt with from the culture he lived in and from his own family. But Jesus tells us that the most sane thing we can do is follow him - to live as he has called us to live. Jesus continually reshapes us to shift away from focusing on the unimportant things of this world and to live our life fully for him. Are you facing opposition to your love of Jesus? Are you feeling pulled into a relationship with him that you haven’t had before? Let’s stop contemplating what it is we are to do for Jesus and start doing what we know in our hear he is calling us to do.

http://s3.amazonaws.com/churchplantmedia-cms/the_north_canton_chapel/ryan_johnston_feb_21_2016.mp3

“Disciple: Faithfulness In Opposition” - Ryan Johnston

This week Ryan Johnston teaches from Mark 3 and focuses on the opposition Jesus faced - even from his own family - and how his example is the model we can use today. But before we can deal with opposition to our faithfulness we must ask ourselves if we believe Jesus is Lord and has all authority. Put another way, we must ask if Jesus is - as many in Jesus’ time and today will say - a lunatic, a liar or a legend. Is he just a figment of the overactive imaginations of a bunch of ancient writers? Or is he Lord of all. If you believe his is Lord then we are commanded by Jesus to step into relationships with others that will expose us to the pain of life. If Jesus is Lord of all for you then this week’s message will help you to remain faithful in the face of opposition.

http://s3.amazonaws.com/churchplantmedia-cms/the_north_canton_chapel/ryan_johnston_feb_14_2016.mp3

“Disciple: Follow Me” - Ryan Johnston

This week we return to the Gospel of Mark series, learning from Mark Chapter 3. The book of Mark is written to the early church and is pointedly teaching that Jesus came for all people - Jew or Gentile - and that Jesus very intentionally appointed twelve followers to be apostles who would learn from him and later be sent out to preach with great authority. In today’s message Ryan Johnston teaches that to be a disciple we must marry what we say about Jesus with what we do with our life. Does it reflect the truth of Christ? Do we “invest and invite?” In other words, do we invest our lives in Christ and invite others to do so as well?

http://s3.amazonaws.com/churchplantmedia-cms/the_north_canton_chapel/ryan_johnston_feb_7_2016.mp3

“We Are Driven” - Ryan Johnston

In the final message in the “We Are” series, Ryan Johnston teaches from Acts Chapter 1. Throughout Acts we are shown the incredible truths of Christ’s words - specifically that God’s design and plans for the world to know of his love for us through Christ will come to be not because of the amazing talents and perseverance of the disciples but because the Holy Spirit has come to be the power of God through his people. Believers today have that same power - the infinite power of God himself - if we only devote ourselves to following Jesus’ command to be his witnesses to our world. We do that individually and corporately as a church body - and we learn how we are driven to reach Stark County and beyond in this message. These are exciting times!

http://s3.amazonaws.com/churchplantmedia-cms/the_north_canton_chapel/ryan_johnston_jan_31_2016.mp3

“We Are Devoted” - Ryan Johnston

Ryan Johnston teaches this week from Luke 9:23, a passage in which Jesus lays out what it means to be a disciple in a brief but powerful way. What we learn in this passage - and the context of this chapter in Luke - is that Christ asks us to do what he himself did for us. He tells us to take up our cross and follow him, to make a choice and recognizing that though we may not know exactly what it means to be a disciple of Jesus we’re willing to commit to a life of radical self-denial, rejecting a life of self-fulfillment and self-interest. In short, to be devoted to him. When you think about it, we are all a disciple of something - the news, sports, today’s culture. But what would it mean if we were to stop looking for the blessing and start looking at the blessing?

http://s3.amazonaws.com/churchplantmedia-cms/the_north_canton_chapel/ryan_johnston_jan_24_2016.mp3

“We Are Better Together” - Ryan Johnston

This week Ryan Johnston speaks directly to one of the myths of our culture - that it is better to “go it alone” rather than seek out others to live life with. But the truth is we are better together, just as Christ taught his disciples. They weren’t taught to live separated from other disciples; instead they came together, spoke truth into each others’ lives and learned from others. Jesus’ extravagant love for us has saved us from the penalty, power and presence of sin - and people will know we are disciples of Jesus by the extravagant love we have for one another. We display that love by investing into others what we’ve been given by those who’ve poured into our lives. Which means we have to be humble learners, always pursuing the truth of Jesus, praying God will bring someone into our life who desires to know him more. Jesus’ commission is the road to becoming a loving, kind, holy spirit-filled, discipling believer in Jesus Christ.

http://s3.amazonaws.com/churchplantmedia-cms/the_north_canton_chapel/ryan_johnston_jan_17_2016.mp3

“We Are One” - Ryan Johnston

This is a very special service in the life of North Canton Chapel as Ryan Johnston is installed as Lead Pastor. The message based, on Galatians 2:20, is broken into two sections: 1) The specific calling and description by Dr. Johnston of who he is and the manner in which he is called to live a life for Jesus, and 2) Where North Canton Chapel is going in the future and how we as a body are going to proclaim the incredible truth of Jesus Christ to our community, our country and the world. The church isn’t a place - it is a movement that is commissioned by Christ to share his love. And the great work of the church is dependent upon people saying, “I have been crucified with Christ” and that we unify under our confession of Jesus Christ as Lord over all and in all. “I hope the Lord would take us together as one into the deeper waters of faith to trust Him beyond all that we can imagine.” - Ryan Johnston

http://s3.amazonaws.com/churchplantmedia-cms/the_north_canton_chapel/ryan_johnston_jan_10_2016.mp3

“Undivided, Part 2″ - Ryan Johnston

Ryan Johnston continues the “Undivided” series, this week teaching from several passages in which we are commanded to continue to grow in our relationship with God through his son Jesus Christ. Growing in our faith means we are more spiritually-minded; we don’t turn the spiritual switch on and off depending on where we are. Our spiritual switch is “on” more and more because of five things: 1) Increasing humility; 2) Increasing faith & love toward Jesus; 3) An increased holiness in life and conversation; 4) An increased devotion in all of life, and; 5) An increased love for all people in and out of the body of believers. God is asking all of us to grow up - to never stop increasing our spiritual-mindedness. That growth in our faith helps us to remain undivided in our devotion to God.

http://s3.amazonaws.com/churchplantmedia-cms/the_north_canton_chapel/ryan_johnston_jan_3_2016.mp3

“Undivided” - Ryan Johnston

In this weekend after Christmas Ryan Johnston begins a new series focused on living an undivided life. What would it look like for me and my heart to live solely for him? The reality is we often live our lives as functional non-believers; we proclaim one thing with our mouth but then functionally live our lives very differently. Another way of putting it is we’ve exchanged the truth about God caring for every aspect of our lives with the lie that we are better able to control what happens to us. But by truly living our lives for Jesus - to love Jesus more than the machine of life - the gap begins to narrow between my confessional faith (what I say) and functional belief (what I do.)

http://s3.amazonaws.com/churchplantmedia-cms/the_north_canton_chapel/ryan_johnston_dec_27_2015.mp3
