										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>RALEIGH, NC - The COVID-19 public health care crisis continues to impact all of us and we are very sad to announce that our Memorial Weekend plans that were rescheduled for August (during the South Atlantic FIRE RESCUE Expo in Raleigh) are being cancelled. This cancellation includes the 15th Annual Memorial Service scheduled for August 14th and the Memorial Stair Climb scheduled for August 15th.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The health and safety of everyone is a top priority and we want to ensure that everyone remains safe.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The NCFFF will honor this years new Angel families and their Fallen Firefighter during our 2021 Memorial Weekend. The 16th Annual Memorial Service will be held on May 1, 2021.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The 15th Annual NCFFF Memorial Service is now scheduled to take place concurrently with the North Carolina State Firefighter’s Association (NCSFA) annual Conference and Convention held in August. The Conference and Convention is known as the South Atlantic FIRE RESCUE Expo (SAFRE) and is held August 12-15, 2020 at the Raleigh Convention Center, located at 500 South Salisbury Street.</p>

<blockquote><p>“Given the uncertain circumstances regarding public gatherings in the foreseeable future, the NCFFF is planning to conduct the 15th Annual Memorial Service during SAFRE in Raleigh this coming August,” according to NCFFF Public Information Officer Jeff Harkey. “In addition to the Annual Memorial Service to be held on Friday, August 14, the NCFFF will also be participating in the NCSFA Memorial Service on Thursday, August 13. It is important to note that these two events will take place on different days at specific venues.”</p></blockquote>

Tucker, Jr, 62, was responding to a structure fire Saturday night, March 7,2020 and suffered a medical emergency.</p>
<p>He was transported to a local medical facility but did not survive.</p>
<p>Joe Jessie Tucker, Jr., age 62, died suddenly early Sunday morning while serving his community as a volunteer fireman with Thoroughfare Fire Department. Joe was born in Wayne County to the late Joe Jessie Tucker and Addie Gooding Tucker. Joe was also preceded in death by his siblings, Liza “Tempie” Aycock, Linda Hall, Sherby Hines, Earl Tucker and Ernest Tucker. In addition to being a member of the Thoroughfare Fire Department, Joe had served with both the Arrington Fire Department and Mar Mac Fire Department. He was a member of Providence United Methodist Church and a former Boy Scout Leader with BSA Troop 10. He was employed with FleetPride, Inc. and enjoyed spending free time hunting and fishing.</p>
<p>A service to celebrate Joe’s life will be held Saturday at 11:00 am at Providence United Methodist Church with Rev Bryan Sexton and Mr. Rudy Peedin officiating. Burial with Fire Department Honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family will greet friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm in the church sanctuary.</p>
<p>Joe is survived by his wife, Delaine Tucker; a son, Brandon Tucker and wife, Cassie; a daughter, April Tucker Hamilton and husband, Julian; his sisters, Eloise Tucker, Virginia Pope and Judy Harper; and a grandchild, Addie Hamilton.</p>

<p>Corbin Lee Rogers, 20 of Carthage, passed on Friday, Jan. 31, 2020, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.</p>
<p>Corbin was born Feb. 23, 1999, in Pinehurst to Jimmy Rae Rogers and Karen Faith (Key) Rogers. He joined the Carthage Fire Department as a volunteer in March 2018, shortly before graduating from Union Pines High School. He went on to earn his firefighters certifications through the Sandhills Community College Fire Academy. He worked part-time with the Carthage Fire Department and full time with the Spring Lake Fire Department in Cumberland County. He loved to play guitar, video games with Spencer and Jay, cooking, and old music like the Beatles and Johnny Cash. He is and will always be well loved by his family, friends, and brotherhood of firefighters.</p>
<p>He is survived by his parents, Jimmy and Karen Rogers, of Carthage; his brother, Logan Rae Rogers, of Carthage; godsister, Kendyl Cole, of Charlotte; grandparents, Wayne and Loreen Key, of Carthage, Jimmy L. Rogers, of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Marylyn B. Rogers, of Carthage; a step-grandmother, Kathy W. Rogers, of Wilmington; many aunts, uncles and cousins.</p>

Messer, 74, died Friday, September 20th after he was involved in a wreck on US 276, North of Maggie Valley while driving his fire apparatus to an emergency traffic accident call.</span></p>

We are devastated.”</span><br />
