As of 30th September 2008, Sage (UK) Limited (“Sage”) is adopting a policy of no longer supporting any Act! version 6 or below users.
As of 30th September 2007, Sage will no longer sell Act! version 6 single user (multi user sales ceased on 30th June 2006).

What is a Withdrawal of Sale/Support Statement?

A Withdrawal of Sale/Support Statement is a declaration that Sage will no longer provide technical support for specific versions of Sage software. In a Withdrawal of Sale/Support Statement Sage will also provide a withdrawal of support date, being the date after which a new SageCover contract cannot be purchased or an existing contract renewed for the particular product version in relation to which a Withdrawal of Sale/Support Statement has been issued.

Why issue a Withdrawal of Sale/Support Statement?

The above versions of Sage software are now up to 4 years old and are not tested on the latest operating systems. A Withdrawal of Sale/Support Policy enables you and your business to take advantage of the latest technology and allows Sage to focus resource on improving the quality of its products and support.

Which versions does this apply to?

Sage will apply this policy from 1st May 2007 to the following versions of Act!:
Act! version 1
Act! version 2
Act! version 3
Act! version 4
Act! version 5
Act! version 6
Act! for Line 50 version 6
Act! for Line 100 version 6
Act! for Web version 6
Act! for Palm version 6
Act! for Pocket PC version 6

When will support be withdrawn for these versions of ACT?

Support will be withdrawn as follows:
Customers whose existing annual SageCover contract expires on or before
30th September 2007 may renew their contract for one further year.
No new SageCover contracts for the above versions will be available to purchase on or after 1st October 2007.
All technical support for these versions of Act! will end on 30th September 2008.
Supported versions of ACT!

If you are using one of the following versions:
Act! version 7, Act! version 8, Act! 2007 (version 9)
Sage will continue to offer additional licenses and SageCover contracts until further notice.

It was announced this week that Sage (UK) Ltd are running trials to stop the production of paper-based manuals to accompany their products.

Sage are making this move to reduce the impact their current manual production is having on the environment. They have already stopped sending out manuals with Sage Line 50 and Payroll, on a trial basis, and no doubt the other packages will shortly follow suit.

Instead of paper-based manuals with new Sage Line 50 and Sage Payroll, the manual will be available in electronic format on the program CD. Payroll already uses this feature to automatically install the electronic manual upon program installation, and this feature will be introduced in the next release of Sage Line 50, in Autumn 2006. They can also be downloaded directly from the SageCover section of the Sage web site.

Sage hope that stopping the manuals will not only reduce the impact on the environment, but it will also make it easier for users to access information. There will be no more searching through piles of papers – everything will be available at the click of a mouse!

Sage are eager to hear customer reactions. If you are a current Sage customer and have an opinion on this, Sage encourage you to e-mail csr@sage.com with the subject “Focusing on the Environment”.
