: I wanted a simple, reliable, comfortable, economical auto. The Yaris is perfect for the job. Great looks, Toyota dependability, excellent fuel economy and I think it handles well. I’m not comparing it to models with lots of options so my rating reflect this. I didn’t want abs or electronic stability control (ESC). That doesn’t take the place of a good driver.

: Wish, wish WISH it had cruise control; 6 cd changer; more colors from which to choose.

Automobile Review Toyota Highlander Hybrid

I purchased a 2008 2wd Limited in Atlanta in November 2008. Its a great car, interior well thought out with the right touches in all the right places. Ride is nice if not sporty. My only complaint is the following. My gas mileage for city driving is consistently around 15.5 to 16 significantly below the 18 Toyota promises. I use Costco gas, don’t put much in the car, have tried to not acclerate very fast but this problem continues to persist. This mileage issue is a real disappointment.

great seating positions, total accessibility - great milage - runs on regular so cheaper gas

Suggested Improvements

The “S-Mode” shift feature is basically useless. You can’t start out in second which would be great combined with snow mode, and while accelerating in higher gears, it just down-shifts like any other transmission. What’s the point!? Also at this price, can I get an air temp and maybe a MPG readout? Photos

Review and Scam Yaris Review

: Very good vehicle, doesn’t look like a inexpensive car. Fun to drive. Very good mileage, worst 39 mpg high 43 mpg. Built very solid, when you shut the doors feels like you shut a car door not a beer can. Visibility excellent. Not the quietest but it’s not a $50, 000 Cadillac either. Low insurance premiums, low property tax. All in all one awesome car. I love it!

: The plastic interior does seem to scuff easily, but it is wiped away very simply with some armor-all or a wet wipe. The back windshield (I think) rattles when I go certain speeds, but it may just be my storage container in the trunk.

: The road noise is bad on some roads. I hit one spot on the interstate that made some much noise that the radio could not be heard. Look into the protection option with undercoating. Other cars loaded can offer more for the $$’s and less road noise, if you want a loaded unit.

: I replaced a 1981 Toyota Starlet with a 2008 Yaris S Hatchback. The new car is superior to the old one in every respect. Fuel economy over my 20 mile round-trip commute in moderate-to-heavy traffic has ranged from 35 to 39 mpg thus far. The car is tremendously fun to drive, and has plenty of power for freeway maneuvers. Thus far, after 3 months — no complaints!

: Cruise control and ABS on the base 5 speed model without the power package upgrade. Rear wiper/defogger and 15 inch wheels should be standard equipment.
