We’ve got one last UK festival for the Summer, Farm Fest – which kicked off today. We’ll be playing at 7pm tomorrow, can’t wait!

After that we are taking some time off playing live to concentrate on writing new material and generally return to normal life. We’ll be back in the autumn with more touring and new songs for you to hear. Thanks to everyone who has come to see us play, sent us kind messages and supported us over the past few months, it’s been pretty special.

Our good friends Capac have been promoting their forthcoming release on our label On The Shelf Records. The EP titled ‘Pastels’ sounds awesome and to celebrate finishing their hard work in the studio, they’ve made a mixtape including exclusive never heard before tracks and remixes from the On The Shelf crew as well as some other good friends including worriedaboutsatan, Sideshow (aka Fink) Ambeson and Prdctv.

After two incredible experiences at top European festival’s (Sonar and Roskilde – pictured above), we’re now looking at a run of great UK festivals over the next 3 weekends. Hope to see you at one of them, here’s some essential info:

Latitude festival is this weekend! It takes place in Suffolk over three days and the sheer number of acts and comedians performing is quite overwhelming. If you don’t have a ticket yet, I’m afraid it’s too late, it sold out weeks ago.

However, if you do have a ticket, we recommend you come check out the Lake Stage. Curated by the BBC Introducing team, headed up by Radio One’s Huw Stephens, it features some of the best emerging acts in the UK and we were delighted to have been chosen for a slot.

Our STAGE TIME is SATURDAY: 6.45pm – 7.15pm (LAKE STAGE)

Playing directly before us is the superb Zun Zun Egui whom we’ve had the pleasure of sharing a stage with before in Italy. Not to be missed!

We’re delighted to be playing Truck for the third year in a row! Our first ever show was at Truck 2008, so this always brings back fond memories. Truck is an excellent, independently run festival, based on Hill Farm in Steventon, near Oxford. It boasts 5 stages with a great scope of musical talent. Taking place on the 24th/25th July, this years acts include the unmissable 65daysofstatic, Mew, This Town Needs Guns, Future Of The Left and about 100 other great acts.

Our STAGE TIME is SUNDAY: 4.30pm – 5.10pm (BEAT HIVE STAGE)

You can still get tickets here. There’s a whole array of options, day tickets, weekend tickets, teenage and minor tickets etc. Very nicely done and all for a reasonable price.

On 30th / 31st July Farm Festival will celebrate it’s 5th birthday. And we’re excited that we’ll be there to join in the festivities. Like Truck, this festival stands strong behind it’s independent values and the organisers work very hard to keep the ticket cost low (a mere £35!! – meaning you could go to Farm Fest 5 times for the price of a Glastonbury ticket!). It’s famous for putting on bands who went on to be massive (Friendly Fires and Post War Years both played in recent years), so you should expect to see some very good upcoming talent. It takes place on Gilcombe Farm in Sommerset and you can buy tickets here.

Our STAGE TIME is SATURDAY: 7pm (MAIN STAGE)

The following day (Sunday 1st August) we are in London for a very special all-day gig at the beautiful Cecil House in Camden. Hosted by our friends The Local and The Line Of Best Fit, this is a celebration of intimate and delicate music and we’ll be playing a headline set, perhaps focusing on our more ambient moments (although don’t expect a jazz odyssey just yet). Other acts include Kyte, Mark Hole, Treecreeper and a whole host of others, this is going to be very special indeed.

Last night Radio 1 was alive with the sounds of Sonar! Huw Stephens, Bethan Elfyn and Mary Anne-Hobbs all did excellent features on last weekend’s festival and we were delighted to hear live recordings from our set there!

We played at Sonar because we were chosen by BBC Introducing to represent them and would again like to say a massive thank you to the team there for making a dream come true for us. Anyone reading this who is playing in a band or thinking of starting out, I highly recommend spending some time on the Introducing site exploring the videos and blog content – these people have worked hard to give you excellent and helpful information on all aspects of being in a band. An excellent service.

Huge news day. We have been confirmed to play this summer’s Roskilde festival in Denmark. We will be playing on Sunday afternoon on the Pavillion stage, check it out here. Wow.

Summer has arrived, it was a joy to come home from Italy to some beautiful sunshine. Let’s see how long it lasts!

Over the past 6 weeks we’ve driven over 6000 miles and played across England, Scotland and Italy. So many more places we still want to visit, but for the time being we’d like to give a huge thanks to all involved who made this happen. A number of UK promoters put us on for the first time and were excellent, our wonderful label Monotreme Records worked extremely hard and offered vital support as always and in Italy, Christian from Triciclo booked a great tour in a notoriously difficult period (end of the European touring season).

We discovered so many interesting and vibrant venues in sometimes out of the way towns in Italy and have a whole wealth of stories to tell, it was really quite amazing to see a lot of promoters just putting on shows for enjoyment – profit free, a place for the local community to enjoy music from around the world. The coming days will be spent emailing the many who helped out. And of course it was a joy to play to new people, many of which took time to get to know us after the gigs and enrich the whole experience.

We really have to mention our friend Simon who joined us as a driver at the start of the UK tour and quickly took on the multiple tasks of tour managing, merch selling, photography, car repairs, moral support and much more. We could not have managed this without him.

So, onto the present day. This week we’re playing a couple of big support slots. First up is London on Thursday. We’re sharing the stage with the wonderful Pure Reason Revolution and Islington Boys Club at the Hoxton Square Bar & Kitchen. It’s a great venue, excellent sound system and is due to be quite a busy night. You can buy tickets in advance for £8 here. It’ll most likely be our last London show for a little while, we’re entering the festival season and also World Cup fever is upon us, so please come along and join the fun.

The following day we’re heading up to Nottingham, one of the favourite places we visited whilst on tour, to play a FREE show at the ridiculously named Spanky Van Dykes. Also playing are the hotly tipped New Young Pony Club, alongside DJs Hot City and Harlot. There is some info about it here. This is sure to be a fun filled night, see you there.

After that, it’s festival season! We’re bursting at the seams with excitement over being selected by BBC Introducing to play at this year’s Sonar Festival in Barcelona. Huw Stephens officially announced it on his Radio 1 show this past Wednesday, which was fantastic, he also played ‘Squid Cat Battle’ in it’s entirety. Listen again here. We’re due to be making a video diary of sorts for this, should be fun. Also, excited to hear that our friend Sebastien aka One Day Forever will be there all weekend capturing events with his incredible camera skills.
