Dates are always subject to change but its neat to see that The Lone Ranger which is already shooting and is about cowboys is going to come out the same time as Iron Man 3 that hasn’t even finished casting or started shooting yet.

Two Marvel movies next year will keep you Avengers fans happy – and as of now the only other superhero is Superman: Man of Steel that will also have a film in the Summer with a new cast and director.

We’ve been following Johnny Depp‘s career since 21 Jump Street – and what an amazing career its been, culminating in worldwide breakthrough success in the Pirates of the Carribbean films.

Opening today in Hong Kong, Johnny Depp stars in the film version of classic TV-series Dark Shadows – it’s a fun film we saw last night; with equal parts humor, romance and classic dialogue – its not the best Tim Burton/Johnny Depp collaboration but its still a fun time at the movies.

We’ve featured Robert Downey Jr. and Daniel Craig in the past – but Johnny Depp definitely follows his own style drummer and here is a gallery of some of the pieces we like best on him:

He likes to layer his clothes bringing textures and character to each of his looks when out in public. He also seems to have a penchant for vintage style mixed, silver jewelry and a touch of American Indian culture (which he has in his blood) that defines him as a bit eccentric but unmistakably Johnny Depp:

We don’t post many music events on Neonpunch.com but we just had to do a quick shout-out for this one – Songs for Children and Mirror Ball presents The Jesus and Mary Chain in Hong Kong at KiTec on May 23 and we for one couldn’t be more excited.

The iconic band from Scotland is making (we believe) their very first trip to Hong Kong as they snakedrive around Asia (even Beijing!) this month. You probably know them best from their song “Just Like Honey” during the closing scene from the Bill Murray/Scarlett Johansson movie “Lost in Translation” – and as one of the main influences for indie bands in the 90′s to today – we’re lucky to have them visit HK.

Actor and businessman Michael Wong (王敏德) became the 1st customer of mobile service provider 1010 to get a 4G LTE Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 in Hong Kong.

Micheal who has appeared in local movies like Overheard and Seven Swords rode up on a BMW racing bike to pick up his Galaxy Tab 8.9 personally.

OK, so you’ve read our review of the new iPad and seen the photos it can take in our photo gallery – you might still not even have one yet, but we’re going to point out 10 awesome things about the new iPhoto app for iPad.

This app goes hand-in-hand with the new iPad camera – you will be taking better photos and video with the new camera so you might as well edit your works of art right afterwards or chances are you’ll NEVER edit them. iPhoto not only makes it easy, it makes it downright fun.

iPhoto will probably be of great use to most of you as you take photos with your iPhone, because of Photo Stream the images you take they will automatically go to Apple’s cloud (if you have this feature turned on in settings) which lets you access them on the bigger iPad screen and do some quick post production with iPhoto.

There are a ton of photo editing apps out there – but iPhoto for iPad works a lot like it does on the Mac and its easy and fun to use. Here are some key things:

• Effects allows you to add variations on 6 effect channels – we found the AURA effect to be very cool as it desaturates greys and pops out colors like red and yellow for an amazing effect. It also has various effect filters like Vintage, Black and White and Artistic and they are all more or less original that we haven’t seen exactly the same in other apps.

• Brushes – so much fun here as you can choose from 8 brushes to wipe your finger onto the image to repair, saturate, lighten, sharpen, soften and more – so easy!

• All edited photos go into an Edited folder so you can still have the original one and go back and apply different effects to the same photo.

• When you take a photo of the ocean and its a bit off, as in not straight – iPhoto can automatically help you fix that or you can do it manually with the gyroscope! This is very cool!

• You can tap on your favorite photos and it will create another folder for it.

• One click sharing to Camera Roll, iTunes, Email, Twitter, Flickr and Facebook as well as printing and beaming from your iPhoto to any other iOS device with iPhoto on it via WiFi – and it goes into a folder called Beamed so its easy to find!

• The other very cool feature is Journals – choose a bunch of images and let iPhoto create an amazing gallery that you can share online – it even adds dates, maps and notes – allowing you to create a very special gallery. Check out the one we did of The Avengers shoot we did for the iPad camera review of The Avengers display at The One.

• You can pull up 4 photos at a time just by swiping to the right on them to compare similar shots or see how they look with each other for a Journal or gallery.

• Once you apply effects to a photo, with one button press you can copy and then paste on another photo.

• If you take a lot of similar photos of say your friends – iPhoto can group those together for you to see them all side-by-side so you can choose the best one you want.

That’s really the tip of the iceberg – there are a bunch more exciting features but these are the ones that should get you excited to download iPhoto now.

A few things though are missing:

• It doesn’t sync with the desktop version of iPhoto – maybe it will come in a later version.

• It’s missing a few other photo editing features that would make us delete some of the other ones like Tiltshift and triptych – but we’re sure they are working to add them over time.

Comparison time:

• Much better control than Snapseed – but Snapseed has different crazy filters and effects.
• Way more control than Instagram – but Instagram has the community and the sharing aspects.
• Probably more useful to regular people who just want to fix up their photos quickly and not apply too many crazy filters like Pixlromatic, PowerCam and Hipstamatic.
• Its 100 times easier to use than Photoshop Touch but also not as advanced. We’re using both of them side by side but open iPhoto more often for simpler editing tools.

iPhoto for iPad is US$5/HK$40 in the app store and are more than worth that price – so get it now – and yes they are universal apps so they will also work (albeit a bit cramped because of the screen size) on your iPhone.
