Beginning the week of June 4, Sewer District contractors will begin the latest phase of Euclid Creek Tunnel construction along Lakeshore Boulevard from East 156th Street to Sycamore Street.

The work includes open-cut construction methods in which a trench is dug along Lakeshore Boulevard, new sewer pipe is installed, the trench is filled, and the road is repaired.

Piece by piece, the gigantic tunnel digger that will burrow the underground route for the Sewer District's Euclid Creek Tunnel is arriving on site in Cleveland.

The behemoth is known as a tunnel boring machine, or TBM, and it will take several truckloads and a few more weeks to assemble.

The Court of Appeals of Ohio, Eighth Appellate District, with jurisdiction over Cuyahoga County, today rejected a second round of appeals from groups opposing the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District’s Stormwater Management Program. The initial appeals were dismissed March 30.

On February 15, 2012, Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Judge Thomas J. Pokorny issued an opinion in the case of Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District vs. Bath Township, Ohio, et al. (CV-10-714945). 

This is the second ruling from Judge Pokorny reaffirming the Sewer District’s authority to implement a regional Stormwater Management Program; the first ruling occurred in April 2011.

Many residents may not realize our three wastewater treatment plants—Southerly in Cuyahoga Heights, and Easterly and Westerly in Cleveland—are operated by staff working around the clock to treat wastewater and protect public health and the environment.
