So when I saw @photocanvas’ tweet about how to get a free print from ZaZaGallery.com I took the bait. (You might be able to grab you own here.)

I chose an image that I took just a few days after I got my DSLR. It’s kind of a special picture to me because it’s one of the first good pictures that I took and probably my best landscape to date. It has won first place in a photo competition at my local fair.

I had to upsize the image to get the desired resolution. Which was something I had never done before. I was a little nervous about this, so I sent the guys at ZaZaGallery two versions of the photo, one upsized and one not. They sorted thing out and I’m very pleased with the outcome.

The canvas is a 16x20, which is a very nice size. The quality is impressive. Any lack of quality seems to be merely from the image (which I expected from the upsizing). But unless you get really close (6 inches) you can’t tell the difference.

The canvas itself is nice and well stretched. It is archival quality canvas, and, according to the website, is good up to 100 years under proper care. Nice.

One thing I really like is the fact that the edges are mirrored, so that none of the image is lost around the sides. It took me a while to even notice this and it’s not at all odd. It’s very seamless and not even a noticeable transition. It seems very natural. This is of course and option, and a traditional gallery wrap style can be selected if you like.

The prices on the canvas are great with 8x10s starting at $25. The great thing about ZaZaGallery is the amount of options that you have to choose from. You can choose from different wrap thickness, color styles, and wrap styles.

So that’s the long and short of it. I would definitely recommend ZaZaGallery.com to photographer looking for an affordable great quality canvas print.

Photo Breakfast Show #7: "Creative Rut"

In this episode I do a review of a canvas gallery wrap I recently received from ZaZaGallery.com
