Citrix unveiled NetScaler 10, a landmark release that brings the elasticity, simplicity and expandability of the cloud to both enterprise and carrier networks. NetScaler 10 features the groundbreaking new Citrix TriScaleTM technology, making it easy for businesses of any size to scale their networks “up, in and out” with ease, just like the world’s largest public clouds. This revolutionary new technology elevates NetScaler beyond traditional service and application delivery controllers, creating the industry’s most advanced cloud networking platform. The new release ships today and will be featured prominently in the upcoming Citrix Synergy 2012 conference May 9-11 in San Francisco.

NetScaler is already well established as the industry’s leading internet delivery system, touching an estimated 75 percent of internet users each day. The new NetScaler 10 release builds on this leadership to deliver the world’s most advanced “cloud networking platform”, giving customers a single integrated solution that brings the elasticity, simplicity and expandability of the cloud to networks of any size. This powerful combination helps customers deliver public and private cloud services with the best performance, security and reliability to any device.

Introducing NetScaler TriScale Technology

The centerpiece of NetScaler 10 is the product’s new TriScale technology, a revolutionary advancement of the NetScaler architecture that brings multi-dimensional scalability to enterprise datacenters and provider networks. This innovative approach delivers the unique capability to Scale Up the performance of a single appliance for greater elasticity, Scale Out to expand capacity by deploying NetScaler appliances in a unified cluster, and Scale In by consolidating multiple networking functions into a single NetScaler service delivery platform to dramatically simplify network infrastructure – all with the same powerful, but simple, management capability.

For the first time, datacenter and cloud managers can provide a comprehensive set of network-based services at virtually unbounded network flexibility and scale. This ensures that network infrastructure always has the capacity and performance to handle the demands of even the most intensive application or service in the most efficient way possible – and that customers never overpay for capacity they don’t need.

The new TriScale technology enables customers to:

Scale Up elasticity with 5x faster performance on-demand with the simple NetScaler Pay-As-You-Grow software-based licensing model. This eliminates costly over provisioning, avoids regular ‘forklift’ appliance upgrades, and obviates the need to buy expensive chassis-based systems just to reserve empty slots in anticipation of future growth.

Scale In consolidation with the multi-function NetScaler SDX platform to simplify datacenter networks, eliminate appliance sprawl and streamline operational management by consolidating up to 40 independently managed devices into a single, easy-to-manage appliance. Unlike alternative solutions, the new NetScaler TriScale technology consolidates multiple appliances with no loss of functionality, and no performance compromises.

Scale Out to expand capacity up to 32x by seamlessly adding appliances to existing NetScaler deployments in a “plug-and-play” fashion with TriScale clustering, without the need to stand up redundant high-availability pairs. For the first time, datacenter managers can build a highly efficient infrastructure that meets current application demand, and then scale incrementally as traffic increases, with the capability to reach unprecedented performance levels exceeding 1 terabit/sec (Tbps).

More than 160 new Features

In addition to the new NetScaler TriScale technology, NetScaler 10 also includes more than 160 new features, capabilities and enhancements, including:

New ActionAnalytics™ provide real-time monitoring and adaptive policy controls that transform raw data gathered by NetScaler into actionable information to deliver better business intelligence and automatically tune application and service delivery policies across public and private clouds.

Built-in cloud connectivity with Citrix CloudBridgeTM, making it easy for customers to extend their enterprise datacenters into external clouds with optimal security, performance and manageability.

New scalability, security and visibility enhancements for NetScaler DataStream™ technology that improve the performance of database infrastructures - further extending the product’s leadership in the emerging arena of database scaling.

New capabilities to power the delivery of virtual desktops with Citrix XenDesktop®, including support for smartcard authentication for secure access to virtual desktops, and sophisticated policy management that completely separates virtual desktop management from on-going network administration tasks.

Powerful advancements to the Citrix Application Firewall™ module, making it easier to protect against leakage of sensitive data and fully supporting the common event format (CEF) standard. These improvements make it easier for security analysts to correlate app firewall data to gain greater insights into the increasingly sophisticated threats facing all types of web and cloud applications.

Pricing and Availability
NetScaler 10 software is supported by NetScaler MPX™ hardware appliances, NetScaler VPX™ virtual appliances, and NetScaler SDX virtualized multi-tenant appliance platforms. NetScaler 10 software is available today, with list prices starting at $2000. The new software release is available at no additional charge for existing Citrix NetScaler customers with a valid NetScaler maintenance agreement. Citrix TriScale clustering capabilities are currently offered in controlled availability. Citrix TriScale clustering upgrade licenses will be available for purchase later in Q2 2012.

Nicira, the network virtualization company, today publicly unveiled its Network Virtualization Platform (NVP). NVP is a software-based system that creates a distributed virtual network infrastructure in cloud data centers that is completely decoupled and independent from physical network hardware. With Nicira NVP, global market leaders such as AT&T, eBay, Fidelity Investments, NTT and Rackspace are already realizing service delivery acceleration from weeks to minutes and dramatic cost reductions in data centers of tens of millions of dollars.

“AT&T, working with Nicira, is delivering enterprise-grade, secure and scalable network virtualization within its internal OpenStack deployment,” said Toby Ford, AVP Cloud Architecture and Strategy, AT&T. “Nicira’s technologies support our work to open the network for innovation and unlock numerous, differentiated offers such as the AT&T API Delivery Platform, the AT&T Developer Center ForHealth, and other services we’ll be building for developers and businesses.”

“Nicira’s Network Virtualization Platform is a game changer,” said Lew Moorman, President, Rackspace. “Nicira’s product and industry contributions with OpenStack are tightly aligned with our strategy to bring together the most innovative and open technology with our own fanatical support. Together we are bringing enterprise private networking to the cloud.”

Redefining Network Operations and Economics
NVP was designed to address the shortcomings of traditional networks by offering a platform that provides the operational model of a virtual machine. While applications have been decoupled from servers through compute virtualization, they have not yet been decoupled from the network through any type of scalable network virtualization. As a result, virtualized data centers face limits to what applications they can support and where the workloads can be placed.

These limitations restrict workload mobility, thus lowering resource utilization of servers, a primary cause of operational overhead. Legacy approaches can leave as much as 20%-30% of the server capacity in data centers under-utilized and drive up networking costs several fold, based on Nicira’s work with the largest cloud data center operators.

“Network virtualization is the biggest change to networking in 25 years,” said Stephen Mullaney, Chief Executive Officer of Nicira. “NVP provides the final pivotal piece to cloud computing, the most transformational change to IT in a generation. And the largest most forward-thinking cloud providers are laser-focused on operations and economics, the two benefits Nicira delivers.”

Distributed Virtual Network Infrastructure
NVP is a scalable software system implemented at the network edge and managed by distributed clustered controller architecture. The system forms a thin software layer that treats the physical network as an IP backplane. This approach allows the creation of virtual networks that have the same properties and services as physical networks, such as security and QoS policies, L2 reachability, and higher-level service capabilities such as stateful firewalling. These virtual networks can be created dynamically to support VM mobility anywhere within or between data centers without service disruption or address changes.

The NVP platform is compatible with any data center network hardware. It can be deployed non-disruptively on any existing network, and it allows for future changes to the network hardware without disruption to the operations of the virtual network platform.

Nicira was founded by networking research leaders Martin Casado and Nick McKeown from Stanford University and Scott Shenker from University of California at Berkeley. Casado’s work at Stanford led to the creation of OpenFlow and Software-Defined Networking (SDN), an architectural approach in which the intelligence of networking shifts from hardware to software. The company has raised $50 million in funding to date from Andreessen Horowitz, Lightspeed Venture Partners and New Enterprise Associates, as well as individual investors including VMware co-founder Diane Greene and Benchmark Capital co-founder Andy Rachleff.

Pricing and Availability
NVP software is delivered through a usage-based, monthly subscription-pricing model, which scales per virtual network port. Customers only pay for what they use, and pricing scales accordingly. NVP software has been commercially available since July 2011.

Lancope, Inc., a leader in flow-based security and network performance monitoring, today announced that it achieved remarkable corporate and technology milestones in 2011. These milestones include 13 consecutive quarters of profitability and quadrupling the number of million-dollar deals over the previous year. Overall, Lancope's revenue grew by 45 percent in 2011, and the company signed on 47 brand new customers, bringing its total customer count to more than 550 enterprises around the globe. Lancope is also experiencing a 95 percent renewal rate among its customers.

"Our accomplishments this year validate the criticality of NetFlow for gaining end-to-end network visibility and maintaining high levels of performance and security for government and enterprise infrastructure," said Mike Potts, president and CEO of Lancope. "As networks continue to grow in complexity, and online attackers become even more nefarious, more and more organizations are turning to Lancope's flow-based monitoring technology to fill in the gaps left by conventional security solutions."

Lancope also achieved several significant advancements in its StealthWatch System in 2011. Unlike conventional solutions that block attacks at the perimeter or rely on signature updates, StealthWatch leverages NetFlow and other types of flow data from existing systems to provide comprehensive, continuous awareness of everything happening on the network. This complete visibility eliminates network blind spots and dramatically expedites troubleshooting for a wide range of network and security issues – at a fraction of the cost of traditional monitoring solutions.

With the launch of StealthWatch 6.0 in early 2011, Lancope added key capabilities for application awareness, advanced reporting and relational flow mapping. Q3 2011 saw the subsequent release of StealthWatch 6.1, which extended behavioral analytics to perimeter devices like firewalls, enabling the integration of internal and external monitoring for more advanced contextual awareness.

Version 6.1 also doubled StealthWatch's maximum flow processing speed to 3 million flows per second, and expanded its storage capabilities to up to four terabytes. To further assist customers in achieving a single, consolidated view into their network infrastructure, Lancope also added interoperability with SIEM technology from HP ArcSight into StealthWatch in 2011.

These efforts resulted in several awards for Lancope, including one for "Best Network Security" in the GSN Homeland Security Awards, as well as the Frost & Sullivan Global Customer Value Enhancement Award for Network Performance and Cloud-Based Application Monitoring. The company was also invited to present at several prominent industry events in 2011, including Interop, Infosecurity Europe, Cisco Live and several vertical conferences in the healthcare and education sectors.

User education continued to be a major focus for Lancope in 2011 as the company advised enterprises on how to maximize their use of flow data for vastly improved network and security operations. Lancope presented more than 30 of its popular 'University of NetFlow' seminars last year, as well as monthly webinars with guests including Cisco and Forrester Research. Lancope also collaborated with Enterprise Management Associates in 2011 to examine and produce an educational report on NetFlow trends and usages.

"As a result of trends such as IT consumerization and virtualization, the threat landscape and enterprise computing requirements will continue to become more intricate in 2012 and beyond," added Potts. "Now more than ever, organizations need to seek out advanced solutions like StealthWatch to keep them at the leading edge of security."

Shunra, the industry-recognized authority in network virtualization and application performance engineering, today announced the availability of NetworkCatcher Express for iPhone and Android, their newest mobile application performance engineering offering.

With NetworkCatcher Express Mobile, organizations now have a way to immediately measure network performance from a mobile phone and subsequently use that captured data to virtualize network conditions within the test lab. By speeding the discovery of real-world network conditions, NetworkCatcher Express Mobile expedites the test process and helps ensure that test results accurately reflect real-world application performance.

This mobile app, available now in both the Apple App Store and the Android Market, provides on-demand measurements of the mobile network on which it is being used. Users simply download the app and select a test destination – any addressable domain or IP address can be tested. The app will connect via the mobile network to the selected destination and measure both packet loss and network latency. Once it captures these network conditions, NetworkCatcher Express Mobile displays the results graphically and emails a summary of network conditions and specific impairment measurements for analysis.

In addition to a summary email, NetworkCatcher Express Mobile generates a dynamic results file that contains the captured network conditions. This file can be easily imported into Shunra’s core application performance testing solutions, Shunra PerformanceSuite or Shunra vCat, in order to reliably recreate real-world mobile network conditions within the application test environment.

“As organizations continue to engage both a mobile workforce and mobile customer base, there is a growing and necessary focus on application performance,” said Gary Jackson, CEO of Shunra. “Organizations can no longer afford to deploy tested applications only to find they don’t perform as expected. NetworkCatcher Express Mobile represents one more way we are arming companies with knowledge about the effect of real-world networks on the performance of their applications.”

Today’s announcement from Shunra represents a continuing focus from the company on enabling more accurate and reliable testing platforms for mobile applications. The company expects several additional announcements in the first quarter of 2012 in support of this effort, including partnerships and additional product capabilities.

Shenick Network Systems, provider of per-flow IP communication test and performance measurement solutions, today announced that it is leading the market with an IP test and measurement solution that can operate in a multi-hypervisor environment. Shenick’s diversifEye™ Virtual Machine (VM), a virtual, per-flow test solution for cloud computing environments, gives service providers and network equipment manufacturers the ability to emulate and analyze real-time IP traffic in cloud environments for multiple hypervisors right down to each individual application flow.

Shenick is bringing the benefits of testing the virtualization of key network infrastructure in the cloud, ensuring that data migration works properly in both crisis and everyday data migration scenarios. For companies that deploy networks in virtualized environments they need to have the ability to test with opensource hypervisors as well as fully supported vendor hypervisors. The end result is virtualized network performance that is more reliable with greater visibility of issues in virtual IP networks.

“The migration from dedicated network boxes to flexible, fluid cloud environments requires a test capability that can work with dedicated environments or can operate in the new virtualized or cloud environments,” said Olga Yashkova, Program Manager-Global Communications Test & Measurement Practice, Frost & Sullivan, “Shenick’s diversifEye gives the market a comprehensive solution for determining network performance with multiple hypervisors in the cloud.”

“To test a cloud environment, you need a completely virtualized test system. diversifEyeVM emulates and tests a cloud infrastructure with multi-hypervisors, giving test analysis right down to each application, so that virtualized networks run smoothly especially in extreme situations,” said Robert Winters, CMO, Shenick.

Unlike other solutions, Shenick’s diversifEyeVM gives network equipment manufacturers greater flexibility, scaling capabilities, easier software migration to virtual machine-based testing and the ability to pin-point errors across layers 2-7 on a highly granular basis.

Shenick’s diversifEyeVM is available immediately.

Talari Networks, Inc. today announced the addition of the Mercury T510 appliance to its family of Adaptive Private Networking (APN) products for WAN Virtualization, offering enterprise-grade connectivity for small branch offices. The company also announced an accompanying software release, APNware 2.3, which introduces system-wide improvements that simultaneously boost WAN reliability and provide accurate accounting on the availability of underlying networks.

Talari’s newest entry-level appliance, the T510, offers enhanced hardware within a 1U rack with integrated power supply (PSU) and 1 Gb Ethernet interfaces. Designed for SOHO and small remote branch offices, the whisper-quiet model delivers up to 24 MB/second across one to three WAN connections. Replacing the Mercury T200, the T510 complements Talari’s higher-capacity, rack-mountable Mercury T730, T750 and T3000 models.

APNware 2.3 features easier integration into complex networks, geographic redundancy for network control nodes, and enhanced reporting at the network and application levels.

“While we were testing our geographic redundancy feature, there was a major Internet blackout in North America,” said John Dickey, vice president of Engineering at Talari Networks. “In spite of the fact that two of our service providers were taken out, the new APNware ensured that our network kept working.” The Internet outage was caused by a router bug as reported in early November 2011.

Talari’s networking solutions are part of a new product class developed to deliver a revolutionary approach to building corporate WANs by increasing bandwidth using additional network resources from various Internet Service Providers (ISPs), including both high-speed Internet connections at customers’ central locations, and broadband connections (DSL and cable where available) at branch locations.

WAN Virtualization provides reliable, cost-effective support for business applications such as VoIP and virtual desktop infrastructure, allowing organizations to take advantage of the affordability of broadband without foregoing business quality, reliability or availability.

“As the market more fully embraces WAN Virtualization and the use of multiple network connections at each site, we are able to find more ways to solve real networking problems for our customers, and this maturity is now reflected in the depth of our product range,” explained Keith Morris, VP of Marketing.

The Mercury T510 appliance is available now with a suggested list price between $3,995 and $5,995 depending on configuration.

CradlePoint today announced an important new addition to its family of business continuity solutions for the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE Network. CradlePoint has received LTE Certification from Verizon for CradlePoint's fully-integrated 4G LTE failover solutions for existing multi-WAN CPE routers and new network installs in distributed enterprise locations.

Designed from the ground up to provide fixed-location network connectivity for businesses, CradlePoint's retail failover solutions integrate 3G/4G LTE modems to provide the performance, reliability, and security required for point-of-sale (POS) transactions and the growing set of high-bandwidth retail cloud computing applications providing enhanced customer service. CradlePoint's integrated business series router (the ARC MBR1400LE) provides a modular, flexible approach for business customers to utilize the 'blazingly fast' Verizon 4G LTE network.

CradlePoint's integrated business series adapter (the ARC CBA750LE) in "IP Pass-through" mode enables a high-performance LTE failover solution for practically any dual-WAN CPE router (including Cisco, Juniper, SonicWALL and others) currently in use in retail stores, quick-service restaurants, and branch office locations. Offering a dual-mode 3G/4G connection enables a single solution to be deployed at all company locations, leveraging 3G in locations where the Verizon 4G LTE network is not yet available.

For new locations, temporary situations, or applications that require isolation from the corporate network, the CradlePoint integrated ARC series router can serve as a primary connection enabling quick and easy deployment of a business-grade network.

"Today's distributed enterprises, particularly in the retail sector, are increasingly dependent on remote and cloud-based applications to enhance the customer experience and lower operational costs in their stores and restaurants," said George Mulhern, CEO of CradlePoint. "When the primary network connection goes down and failover occurs, retailers are discovering that their legacy DSL and dial-up failover connections are unable to efficiently access their bandwidth-intensive cloud applications. The last thing a retailer wants to tell a customer is 'Sorry, the system is down. We can't take your credit card right now.' CradlePoint's integrated business solutions deliver the performance and security required for reliable failover that keeps these business-critical applications up and running on Verizon's 4G LTE network."

"CradlePoint is a leading partner in providing robust, dual-mode business solutions that enable customers to take advantage of Verizon's 4G LTE Network," said Eric Sorensen, Executive Director, Machine-to-Machine Solutions, Verizon Wireless. "These dynamic solutions provide automatic failover to either 3G or 4G LTE for the reliability retail businesses require and future-proofing for those businesses where 4G LTE will soon be available."

Integrated Routers Provide Business-Grade Performance, Reliability and Security

Performance: CradlePoint's integrated ARC series routers come standard with external high-gain antennas that optimize throughput and reduce latency, especially in poor reception areas.

Reliability: CradlePoint integrated solutions are designed for 24/7 reliability with improved heat dissipation for longevity, enhanced RF (Radio Frequency) engineering for better reception, and employs CradlePoint's modem health management features to improve modem stability.

Security: In addition to LAN connections that are protected with advanced WiFi encryption, LAN Segmentation, and vLAN capabilities; the wireless modem is integrated into the router, secure from theft or unauthorized use.

Wireless Access for Failover, Primary and Alternate Network Connections

The CradlePoint integrated ARC series adapter provides a "drop-in" 3G/4G network failover solution that can be added as an overlay on top of existing network infrastructure to enable continuous uptime.

The CradlePoint integrated ARC series router provides an easy-to-install, one-box solution for wired primary connections and wireless failover in new network installations, temporary locations, or for applications where an alternate network, off the main corporate network, is desired. For example, the ability to partition the router to create multiple networks, both public (customer WiFi) and private (POS devices, 3rd party applications, employee laptops, etc.), to simplify PCI compliance.

The modular configuration enables great flexibility in primary connection, failover connections and load-balancing situations.

The integrated ARC series routers will be available from authorized CradlePoint distributors and partners in January. Contact CradlePoint at +1.208.424.5054 or email routersales@cradlepoint.com for more information. The integrated ARC series routers both include the MC200LE-VZ business-grade modem, which has received Verizon ODI Certification.

The Open Networking Foundation (ONF) announced today the Board’s approval of OpenFlow Switch Specification Version 1.2 – the first update of the OpenFlow Software Defined Networking (SDN) standard since the ONF’s launch in March, 2011. The new release builds significantly on Stanford University’s Version 1.1 in a number of ways, including support for IPv6, extensible matches, and greater flexibility for ongoing experimentation. Also announced today was the appointment of NTT Communications to the ONF Board of Directors, and the ONF’s membership passing the 50 mark after just eight months.

"ONF continues to grow globally, with Korea Telecom and Spirent Communications our latest members” says Dan Pitt, ONF’s Executive Director. “There is a shared vision of OpenFlow as the vital foundation upon which a dynamic, policy-based orchestration layer is being created – allowing processes to be defined on the fly and deployed automatically to deliver agile, scalable cloud services to a satisfy a wide range of user needs in every geography."

The OpenFlow Switch Specification 1.2 includes three significant improvements:

Support for IPv6. In addition to the previous support for IPv4, MPLS, and L2 headers, OpenFlow 1.2 now supports matching on IPv6 source address, destination address, protocol number, traffic class, ICMPv6 type, ICMPv6 code, IPv6 neighbor discovery header fields, and IPv6 flow labels.

Support for extensible matches, addressing a larger number of parameters and providing far greater flexibility for current and future protocols.

Support for experimenter extensions through dedicated fields and code points assigned by ONF, facilitating experimentation and fine-tuning by a growing population of developers across academia and industry.

Software Defined Networking using the OpenFlow standard addresses the challenges faced by service providers, data-center operators, and enterprises in aligning the network with an increasingly dynamic and customized computing infrastructure. OpenFlow defines a communication protocol between a logically centralized control plane and the network’s data delivery plane, together with a standardized network management interface potentially allowing, for example, a data-center network to be made as flexible and responsive as the virtual servers that it supports.

The new Director representing NTT Communications is Yukio Ito, Senior Vice President, Services and Infrastructure, NTT Communications Corporation. His deputy is Dr. Kenji Takahashi, President and CEO, NTT Multimedia Communications Laboratories, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of NTT Communications. Mr. Ito commented: “NTT strongly supports the ONF’s goals and has deeply engaged technical experts actively contributing to ONF working groups, underlining NTT’s strong commitment to developing and deploying the OpenFlow standard.”

With other working and discussion groups actively engaged on a number of related enhancements, further significant updates to the OpenFlow specification are anticipated throughout 2012.

About the Open Network Foundation (ONF)
Founded in 2011 by Deutsche Telekom, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Verizon, and Yahoo!, the Open Networking Foundation (ONF) is a nonprofit organization with over 50 members whose goal is to rethink networking and quickly and collaboratively bring to market standards and solutions. ONF will accelerate the delivery and use of Software-Defined Networking (SDN) standards and foster a vibrant market of products, services, applications, customers, and users.

ConteXtream, Inc., a leading provider of cloud-scale network virtualization, today announced the availability of ConteXtream Grid for Cloud and Managed Hosting providers. ConteXtream Grid fundamentally changes the way cloud providers can address elasticity, multi-tenancy and scale challenges. With ConteXtream Grid network virtualization software, customers can offer tenants sophisticated networking and security services, achieve optimal utilization of physical resources, reduce capital costs for network infrastructure and drive down operational expenditures.

“Cloud and managed hosting providers are continuing to make the transition from physical to virtual computing,” said Lauren Robinette, principal analyst, managed services and cloud, ACG Research. “As a Hypervisor-agnostic solution, ConteXtream’s Grid product is unique in its ability to help service providers bridge their physical and virtual infrastructures. This allows them to attract enterprise customers to the cloud with on-demand services such as cloud bursting that complement the server infrastructure they already own.”

Based on the principles of Software-Defined Networking (SDN), the ConteXtream Grid is a distributed virtual L4-7 switch that works as an overlay on existing networks to connect an unlimited number of endpoints to a flat network. ConteXtream Grid software simplifies network build-up, administration, and management, and eliminates scalability challenges associated with VLANs, Spanning Tree and flooding-based address learning. With ConteXtream Grid software, IT organizations no longer need to retrofit legacy solutions, limit virtualization zones, or constantly reconfigure networking infrastructure. ConteXtream Grid software is both hypervisor and networking equipment independent, enabling customers to maximize their ROI from previous investments in networking and virtualization solutions.

The commercially-available ConteXtream Grid is fundamentally different from other proposed SDN solutions in three ways:

Distributed Control Plane: ConteXtream Grid implements a fully distributed control plane as opposed to relying on a centralized controller. A distributed control plane maintains autonomy of network elements to increase reliability and security, eliminate network chokepoints and prevent vendor lock in.

Efficient Address Learning: ConteXtream Grid uses a unique Distributed Hash technique rather than flooding to identify new elements as they connect to the network. This allows for massively scalable networks and eliminates a significant source of network congestion from address broadcasting.

Top-Of-Rack Deployment: ConteXtream Grid creates a natural demarcation between networking and compute at the top-of-rack in the data center. It reduces the number of connections that have to be managed in the network by three orders of magnitude and eliminates the need to install software on every application server. Because the Grid solution is not integrated with the hypervisor, customers can support both virtualized and non-virtualized environments.

ConteXtream Grid software is deployed today by tier one service providers, providing them with a new approach to monetizing and managing their broadband networks. ConteXtream Grid virtualizes how operators connect subscribers to content and services, leveraging operators’ real-time awareness of subscribers, network and application context to optimize every subscriber-application flow. With ConteXtream, service providers can drive significant CAPEX savings in application resources and networking costs, more effectively add value to and partner with Application Service Providers (ASPs), increase ARPU and improve subscriber loyalty through personalized service bundles and improve overall quality of experience.

“ConteXtream is eliminating barriers to cloud adoption with a market-proven solution that provides superior mobility of end points, flexible allocation of resources, and granular security services within and between data centers,” said Joel Brand, vice president of marketing at ConteXtream. “Our solution enables service providers to quickly react to the elasticity demands of customers by spinning up and down resources as their business require. With ConteXtream Grid, cloud and managed hosting companies have access to a commercial network virtualization solution that mirrors the likes of which Amazon and Google have created for their own infrastructure.”
