My grandmother likes to watch the entertainment news. She especially like hearing about what celebrities studied in college.

In this edition, she mentions about how Daniel Dae Kim, who was on the TV show “LOST” and is currently on the re-make of “Hawaii-Five-O” became an actor.

Did you know that he studied to be a lawyer in college?

I can see how the skill-set crosses into acting.

So, just because you study a particular subject in college, it does not mean that you are stuck with that career path for the rest of your working life.

Unemployed? Think beyond your current situation

One of the contestants of a TV game show introduced themself as being unemployed.

Being a freelancer, I have always known that one has to market where they want to be, rather than where they are now.

I was slightly annoyed when the contestant said they were unemployed, period.

My question was “An unemployed what?” They didn’t follow up with anything after that statement. If they said they were an unemeployed ______, one would have some kind of context as to their experience.

It’s true what they say. Whether you have a national audience, or are networking one-on-one, it’s important to point out what one can bring to the table, rather than where one has been.

In my opinion, one of the things college has taught me is to how to communicate with different types of people. Of course, people can site the books of Gates and Jobs. They are the exception.
