MW3 DLC Map #4 March

We are just two weeks away from MW3 DLC map #4 releasing for Xbox players with a premium Elite subscription. The Elite service has over one million subscribers four months into its debut, and is showing no signs of slowing down.

The next Elite downloads available on March 13 include multiplayer map “Black Box” and missions “Black Ice” and “Negotiator.”

According to a statement from publisher Activision, “Black Ice” features a diamond mind where players must “plant high-grade explosives” and shut it down, while “Negotiator” takes players to India to rescue hostages.

The DLC schedule is part of Activision’s efforts to entice more players to the online service Call of Duty: Elite, which they can use for free to check stats in the game’s multiplayer component. Players can also spend $50 on an annual subscription that guarantees early access to future downloads tied to Modern Warfare 3

Black Ops 2 Listed for November 2012

A listing for the heavily-rumored Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 has popped up on Spanish and Portuguese retailer FNAC.

The shop lists the game for a November 2012 launch.

Of course, this isn’t the first time the game has appeared online, with Black Ops 2 recently being listed on Amazon France before it was hastily removed by publisher Activision.

This year’s instalment in the multi-million selling Call of Duty franchise has yet to see an official reveal, though Black Ops 2 remains the popular choice with Treyarch once again taking the development reins.

While the above listing is by no means an official confirmation, it’s looking very likely we’ll be seeing a sequel to 2010’s Cold War-era military shooter before the end of the year.

Black Ops 2 on Playstation Vita

After yesterdays accidental Amazon listing of Black Ops 2 for the Sony PlayStation Vita a lot of chatter started to circle around about a Call of Duty game that was playable on a portable device over WI-FI. This has the opportunity to be a real game changer, as we would never stop playing Call of duty if we could take it with us.

There have been multiple reports from developers that Black Ops 2 will release later this year, as well as this interesting statement from Guy Longworth, Senior Vice President of Playstation Brand Marketing,

When asked about upcoming games for the Vita, and he said that his kids were “in the autumn really looking forward to Call of Duty on Playstation Vita. We think that’s going to be a real Gamechanger.” He was immediately asked which CoD game is coming, but Guy couldn’t confirm any more than that.

Although there have been no official reports to state that the game to be released on the PlayStation Vita will indeed be black Ops 2, but it is starting to line up in a way that the timeline would fit together nicely.

I for one would consider buying a PlayStation Vita , if I could play Black Ops 2 on it all day, this might be the first time I have purchased a handheld since buying a PSP a few years ago, that I was highly disappointed with.

Xbox Hacker Sends Swat Team to Another Teens House

An Xbox 360 prank apparently caused by a hacker brought police from several municipalities to a borough home Saturday night after receiving word that someone was shot and killed inside.

Police Lt. John Kaczmarczyk said it was 9:30 p.m. when officers were called to 325 E. Centre St. for a report that a 16-year-old boy shot his mother and was about to shoot his brothers.

That call came into the Schuylkill County Communications Center from an ATT Instant Message Relay Service designed for hearing impaired people, the chief said. The system is designed to allow hearing-impaired users to reach someone with a standard telephone.

There was some initial confusion since the name given was slightly different than the resident and the fact that the address was an apartment building.

Fearing the worst, Kaczmarczyk said police from Shenandoah borough and Mahanoy, West Mahanoy, Butler and Ryan townships came to assist.

Kaczmarczyk said when officers were able to speak to the teenager, they learned he was playing an Xbox game and received a threat from someone also playing the game. The person was going to “call SWAT” if the teen didn’t send money over the Internet, Kaczmarczyk said.

That call was actually made, finding its way to the county communications center.

Kaczmarczyk said police learned the call came over the Internet and that the IP, or Internet Provider address, has been traced to the state of Colorado and was routed through a call center in New Jersey.

The incident is still under investigation, Kaczmarczyk said, adding that the FBI will be contacted since the matter appears to be interstate extortion.

A similar incident occurred Feb. 13 in Lewisville, Texas, when a teenager was playing “Call of Duty: Black Ops.”

According to CBS-Dallas-Forth Worth television, the teenager had joined friends playing online when his game system was hacked.

Xbox 360 allows users to play over the internet with others and use headsets to talk to each other.

In Texas, the boy went into a chat room between games when someone contacted him and said they were going to get his information and call the SWAT team. CBS-DFW reported that the teen ignored the message and kept playing.

About 20 minutes later, authorities received a call from the ATT Instant Message Relay Service reporting that a person was shot inside the home and someone was still inside the house shooting, the news station said. Authorities arrived on the scene and learned that there was no shooting, no one was hurt and the whole incident was a hoax caused by a hacker.

Similar incidents have been reported last year in Washington and Florida and now Pennsylvania.

Free MW3 Weekend Noob-apalooza

This weekend will be a free weekend for MW3 multiplayer, I’m not sure how many Newbs this will bring this weekend as I would guess that most people who have Modern Warfare 3 probably have an Xbox Live account.

The free weekend will be offering all maps, classes and weapons to everyone who downloads the client from Steam. The free weekend will run through Sunday night at 9pm EST.

Hopefully you are able to run across a couple of these Newbs this weekend, and if you are one of the Newbs that is going to take advantage of the free weekend, I can’t wait to blow you up with some C4.

MW3 New Map Overwatch DLC Trailer

When Xbox Hacker’s Threats Become Real

I was watching a YouTube video uploaded by the commentator known as xJawz last week when he started to tell a story about how some YouTube commentators were being targeted by hackers, and that these hackers were planning on sending an armed swat team to his house by making an automated call to police stating that there had been a shooting at the residence and that people were hurt.

The story sounded like something from a Hollywood movie script, and I figured that the whole thing must have been exaggerated and blown out of proportion. That was until I came across an article this morning posted on Cnet.com about another case involving the same thing.

Here is a small excerpt from the story dated 2/14/2012

I base this announcement on the tale of a teen in Lewisville, Texas. He was, according to CBS Dallas-Fort Worth, playing “Call of Duty: Black Ops” online on Monday with friends. Suddenly, someone interrupted him in a chat room to give him a message.

“Some dude just popped out of nowhere, and basically said he’s going to hack me, he’s going to get my information, call the SWAT team over to my front yard,” he told CBS.

The scary part of this story is that the person from the chat room came through on his threat, and did indeed have a swat team show up at the teens house. This is obviously a dangerous thing no matter which way that you look at it. I guess the next time that you have the urge to get loose lips with someone in a game lobby, be aware that it has become possible for them to find out personal information, and the threat could be real.

This story had a happy ending without anyone getting hurt during the raid, but whenever there is a police raid of someones house, the possibility of someone getting hurt is a major concern. This is not the first time this has happened, nor will it probably be the last. Police are trying to get a subpoena so that they can move forward with their investigation.

Xbox 720 Next Generation Xbox Rumors

Over the next few months the rumor mill about the next generation of gaming consoles will kick into high gear as we approach E3, June 5-7 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. I will do my best to keep you up to date on the rumors as I come across them, such as one that I saw this weekend regarding the new controller for the next generation Xbox.

It looks like Microsoft is chasing after Nintendo again as they did with Kinect. I don’t understand why they would think that putting a HD touch screen on the controller would be a good thing, I have gone through 4 controllers since owning a 360, and would not be interested in replacing a controller that would likely cost 4 times as much as what we are paying this generation.

A touch screen controller is just another sign that Microsoft is spending more time and resources developing media centers rather than concentrate on giving us a quality gaming console, we all have iPhones and iPads do we really need Xbox to deliver us our social media?
