Square Enix mới đây đã công bố rằng đã có hơn 1 triệu người đăng ký thử nghiệm giai đoạn Closed beta của tựa game nhập vai sắp ra mắt Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Trong khi đó, trang web của tựa game vẫn mở cửa cho phép game thủ đăng ký account thử nghiệm trò chơi này, vì thế con số 1 triệu rất có khả năng chưa phải con số cuối cùng.

Mới đây đại diện của đội sản xuất Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn thuộc Square Enix - Naoki Yoshida đã tái khẳng định rằng tựa game này chắc chắn sẽ ra mắt người hâm mộ vào mùa hè năm nay. Được biết cả phiên bản dành cho hệ máy PS 3 và PC đều được phát hành cùng trong thời gian này. Tuy nhiên vẫn chưa có thông tin gì dành cho hệ máy PS 4.

Trên thực tế, mặc dù là phần 14 của series Final Fantasy nhưng tựa MMORPG này không hề đi theo lối chơi turn-base (đánh theo lượt) như trước mà chuyển hẳn thành một game online nhập vai thực thụ. Đây cũng là toan tính của Square Enix khi muốn Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn tiếp cận tới mọi tầng lớp game thủ.

Điểm đặc biệt có thể thấy ngay chính là việc game sở hữu nền đồ họa cực đẹp, hấp dẫn ngay từ những cái nhìn đầu tiên. Dẫu vậy, có thể thấy rằng Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn không có nhiều đột phá về gameplay so với nhiều game online đã xuất hiện trên thị trường: sở hữu lối chơi target và phong cách thiết kế có phần khá giống với Aion.

Tuy nhiên, điều đáng tiếc rằng dù bạn không phải trả phí giờ chơi nhưng vẫn sẽ phải "mua bản quyền" game, đồng nghĩa với việc Final Fantasy XIV sẽ trở thành một game "buy to play". Hiện tại, giá bán game vẫn chưa được công bố.

RuneScape

Được ra mắt vào năm 2001, tính đến nay, tựa game MMORPG nền trình duyệt RuneScape đã tồn tại được ngót nghét 12 năm, và trở thành webgame lâu đời bậc nhất trong làng game online thế giới. Vào ngày 22/07 tới đây, phiên bản thứ 3 của tựa game này sẽ được tung ra, đánh dấu một chặng đường mới cho webgame trường thọ RuneScape. Dự kiến, phiên bản này sẽ được chuyển thẳng lên nền HTML5, chứ không còn bắt game thủ phải cài đặt những plug-in Java phức tạp và nặng nề như trước đây.

RuneScape là một game thuộc thể loại nhập vai MMORPG thiết kế bằng ngôn ngữ Java. Được phát hành từ năm 2001, cho đến nay sau hơn 9 năm RuneScape đã đạt được con số hơn 2 triệu lượt người chơi, và hơn 100 servers từ khắp các đất nước trên thế giới.

Đến với thế giới của RuneScape người chơi sẽ dễ dàng mất phương hướng bởi vì một hệ thống map khổng lồ, và 20 nghề nghiệp khác nhau để lựa chọn. Người chơi sẽ dễ choáng ngợp trong thế giới mênh mông rộng lớn của game, những cách đồng bao la bát ngát, những nông trại đàn đàn gia súc, những ngôi mộ cổ bỏ hoang…

Để cho người chơi nắm được các chức năng chính, game thiết lập sẵn một phân đoạn hướng dẫn người chơi mới. Bạn sẽ được chỉ cho cách tấn công, các mở hành trang, các sử dụng vật phẩm và công cụ… các di chuyển, chạy, ngồi… cũng như giải thích các chỉ số.

Bạn chính thức bắt đầu game tại một ngôi làng nhỏ, điều đầu tiên mà bạn sẽ cảm thấy thú vị là tại đây có rất nhiều NPC, ngoài một số NPC giao nhiệm vụ và bán hàng, bạn có thể chọn tấn công và giết bất cứ NPC nào, từ quái vật, chuột, chó, gà, bò… cả người cũng có thể giết. Mỗi một NPC bị giết sẽ rơi ra một loại item khác nhau, bạn có thể bán để lấy tiền mua trang thiết bị cho mình.

MU Rebirth

Vào ngày 03/07 vừa qua, giai đoạn closed beta của tựa game "MU tái sinh" - MU Rebirth đã chính thức được Webzen bắt đầu. Dự kiến giai đoạn thử nghiệm này sẽ chỉ diễn ra trong vòng 1 tuần và sẽ kết thúc vào ngày 10/07 tới đây. Bên cạnh đó, để đánh dấu sự ra mắt của tựa game này, Webzen cũng tổ chức một giải đấu PvP toàn cầu dành cho những game thủ MU Rebirth với khoản tiền thưởng khá lớn cho những game thủ đoạt giải.

Hiện tại WEBZEN vẫn chưa hé lộ nhiều thông tin về MU Rebirth, chúng ta mới chỉ được biết rằng trò chơi sẽ giữ lại những gì tinh túy nhất của cái tên từng làm mưa làm gió trên thị trường trò chơi trực tuyến Việt Nam cũng như thế giới MU Online cũ trên nền đồ họa 3D tân tiến. Ngoài ra game online này nhiều khả năng sẽ tập trung nhiều vào phần PvP và luyện cấp.

Dragon's Prophet

Nếu chúng ta điểm danh những tựa game online dạng MMORPG mới ra mắt thời gian gần đây, có lẽ sẽ phải kể tới Dragon's Prophet. Được phát triển bởi Runewalker, tựa game nhập vai này đã chính thức được ra mắt vào ngày 30/05/2013 vừa qua. Tuy nhiên trong mắt những game thủ đã và đang thưởng thức tựa game, Dragon's Prophet là một thứ gì đó tương đối mâu thuẫn, và rõ ràng nó là một viên ngọc cần được mài giũa thêm một cách cẩn thận bởi nhà phát triển game. Trong game, người chơi sẽ được trở thành những chiến binh trong một vùng đất mà những con rồng đóng vai trò cực kỳ quan trọng.

Mâu thuẫn đầu tiên đến ngay từ phần hình ảnh của tựa game. Trong khi mô hình những chú rồng, hiệu ứng phép thuật hay cử động nhân vật được thực hiện một cách xuất sắc, thì cử động di chuyển cũng như chất lượng texture của mô hình vật thể trong game lại tệ tới mức nhiều game thủ có thể quay ngoắt 180 độ và nói không với trò chơi này. Thậm chí ngay cả với thiết lập đồ họa ở mức cao, mọi chuyện cũng không có nhiều thay đổi theo chiều hướng tích cực.

Thứ hai là về phần gameplay. Trong khi cơ chế combat của tựa game nhập vai này vô cùng có chiều sâu, thì hệ thống quest lại được thực hiện hời hợt một cách đáng ngạc nhiên. Ở mỗi khu vực, tất cả những việc bạn phải làm đơn giản là hoàn thành bằng hết những nhiệm vụ trong thị trấn, đi cày cuốc đánh quái train level, và chuyển sang khu vực mới khi đã đủ level. Điều này khiến cho game thủ trở nên chóng chán sau 1 tiếng đồng hồ cố gắng ngồi với game, mặc dù trước đó họ đã bị những đòn đánh hay hiệu ứng phép thuật trong game hút hồn.

Thẳng thắn thừa nhận thì, Runewalker đã hơi quá cẩu thả trong việc hoàn thiện tựa game của họ và tung ra phát hành. Bên cạnh những bằng chứng kể trên, không ít game thủ còn chỉ ra được những sự khác biệt một cách rõ rệt giữa những game thủ sử dụng cash shop, và những game thủ chơi game miễn phí. Điều này, nói theo cách của một vài game thủ, đã biến Dragon's Prophet trở thành một tựa game "pay-to-win" đúng nghĩa đen.

Mang trong mình không ít những ý tưởng mới lạ, thế nhưng đội ngũ phát triển và phát hành game đã vô tình để cho sự cẩu thả của họ biến Dragon's Prophet trở thành một tựa game tầm thường, lọt thỏm giữa những cái tên lớn đã và đang ra mắt cộng đồng game online thế giới.

Đối với những game thủ lão thành trên thế giới, một trong những MMORPG 2D lâu đời nhất họ từng biết tới chính là Mix Master. Ở thời điểm hiện tại, Mix Master vẫn còn được phát hành tại một số quốc gia châu Âu và vẫn sở hữu cộng đồng gắn bó với tựa game. Trong khi đó tại thị trường Hàn Quốc, nhà phát triển Aurora Games đã chính thức tung ra những thông tin đầu tiên về tựa game mang tên Hench.

Được coi như một hậu bản kế nhiệm tinh thần của tựa game cổ điển, trong Hench, người chơi sẽ vẫn có nhiệm vụ đi thu thập những con quái vật khá dễ thương được mang tên "Hench", nuôi nấng chúng, cho chúng chiến đấu và thậm chí là... dung hợp hai quái thú với nhau để có thể tạo ra những con quái thú mới độc đáo hơn. Hiện tại, Hench vẫn chưa có ngày ra mắt chính thức tại thị trường Hàn Quốc cũng như thế giới.

Age of Storm

Mới đây, nhà phát triển Pmang và nhà phát hành Dragonfly đã chính thức công bố tựa game nhập vai Age of Storm: Kingdom Under Fire sẽ đi vào giai đoạn stress test server vào ngày 31/07 tới đây. Sau đó vào ngày 08/08, Age of Storm sẽ chính thức đi vào giai đoạn Open beta.

Tính ra, Age of Storm cũng đã có ngót nghét 3 năm “thai nghén”. Giống như rất nhiều tựa game MOBA khác, các lớp nhân vật của Age of Storm cũng được chia thành những nhóm với khả năng chính như tanker, AOE, ranged hay healer.

Trong mỗi trận đấu mang đậm chất MOBA của Age of Storm, những game thủ sẽ không bị bó buộc vào một faction hay một phe cố định, và cách chơi của game cũng trở nên vô cùng thoải mái: Hai đội sẽ cùng tranh tài, và khi đồng hồ đếm ngược kết thúc, đội nào phá hủy được nhiều công trình hơn, hoặc phá hủy được công trình ở spawn base của đội còn lại sẽ chiến thắng.

Sura Online

Sau 6 tháng trời bặt vô âm tín, những tưởng dự án đã biến mất, tuy nhiên mới đây nhất, NSE Entertainment đã tiếp tục công bố những thông tin mới về tựa game nhập vai mang tên Sura Online của họ. Từ đó, không ít những lo lắng của game thủ đang trông chờ tựa game này cũng giảm đi phần nào.

Là một game online dạng MMORPG, Sura Online hứa hẹn một câu chuyện cũng như bầu không khí trong game còn ấn tượng hơn hẳn những cái tên như Diablo 3 hay Path of Exile. Đi kèm với đó, hệ thống gameplay phong cách action RPG, chế độ PvP, PvE đa dạngcùng 3 lớp nhân vật để người chơi lựa chọn giúp cho Sura Online có thể chiều lòng thị hiếu game thủ không chỉ tại Hàn Quốc mà còn trên toàn thế giới.

Hiện tại, Tencent Games đã chính thức có được bản quyền phát hành Sura Online trên thế giới. Trong khi đó NSE vẫn đang tìm kiếm một nhà phát hành cho tựa game này tại thị trường Hàn Quốc. Chính vì thế, đây có thể sẽ là một trong những lần hiếm hoi game thủ quốc tế được thưởng thức một tác phẩm được liệt vào hàng bom tấn đến từ Hàn Quốc trước cả cộng đồng game thủ xứ Kim Chi.

Đã có rất nhiều người tự hỏi, TUG là gì. Nghe qua thì có vẻ đáng sợ, thế nhưng rốt cuộc TUG là tên viết tắt của The Untitled Game, tạm dịch là "Game chưa có tên" (!)

TUG là một tựa game online mang nhiều tham vọng của nhà sản xuất Nerd Kingdom. Vừa mang trong mình những chi tiết nhập vai, TUG vừa là một tựa game sandbox với lối chơi tự do. Chưa dừng lại ở đó,TUG còn mang cả gameplay xã hội hóa, khi game thủ sẽ phải tương tác với những người chơi khác theo nhiều cách khác nhau trên bước đường trở thành một hiệp sĩ.

Hyper Hippo Productions mới đây đã chính thức công bố Mech Mice, webgame chiến thuật theo lượt mới nhất của họ đã bắt đầu đi vào giai đoạn Open Beta. Một đoạn trailer của Mech Mice đã được nhà sản xuất kiêm nhà phát hành tựa game tung ra để chào mừng sự kiện này.

Trong Mech Mice, tựa game được thiết kế hướng đến cộng đồng game thủ nhỏ tuổi, người chơi sẽ phải xây dựng một đoàn quân "chuột máy" và sử dụng những chiến thuật có thể để phòng thủ trước sự xâm lấn của quân đoàn xấu xa mang tên Dark Union. Phụ huynh của các game thủ nhí hoàn toàn có thể an tâm khi hình ảnh trong Mech Mice khá dễ thương và vui tươi, không có những hình ảnh bạo lực hay rùng rợn.
