The MacBook is an impressive machine, but adding MacBook accessories is a great way to make this computer customized to your own needs. Most people think of MacBook accessories as a new high tech printer or possibly a digital camera, which are all great extras that provide many benefits. MacBook accessories that are often overlooked are notebook keyboard protectors. Some people think they are just dust collectors, but in reality, they are custom-designed, which prevents liquids, hair, crumbs and dust from getting inside your keyboard. They can also quiet down the noise that is created by typing. Looking at customer reviews provides helpful insight about value, construction, ease of use and appearance.

VisiKey VisiSkin

This skin or keyboard cover specializes in easy-to read keys, which is a nice option for those people that may be visually impaired. The cover fits the keyboard well and the skin is one of thinnest on the market made from silicone. These are designed to fit all of Apple’s current keyboard designs, but the downside is that the skin blocks keyboard back lighting. The key cover does fit each individual key well and reviews of this cover state that the typing is great.

ProTouch FX

The ProTouch FX fits the keyboard for a MacBook, but users report that typing with this skin takes some getting use to. In order to get each key stroke to record properly you must strike each key directly in the center. Any keys accidentally hit off center do not always register properly. The cover feels unusually rigid and stiff in comparison to other skins.

Moshi Clearguard

This cover is one of the thinnest available on the market and is constructed of thermoplastic urethane rather than silicone as so many others. The skin is exceptionally clear allowing you to easily read the keys underneath. With this clear design, back lighting shines through just fine. The cover feels just slightly tacky to the touch as you type. The skin does fit well and typing is smooth and not restricted. Typing pressure required to engage a key feels the same as it would with no cover making this an ideal choice.

Interested in purchasing MacBook accessories for your favorite teen? The MacBook is popular with the teenage crowd and can be used for research, presentations, and socializing. It’s no secret that teens want nothing but the best when it comes to electronics and technology. Don’t let that special teen in your life down.

A Colorware custom paint job is one of the best MacBook accessories for teens

A custom paint job from Colorware will affect your wallet significantly, but your teen will love you forever. Featured in the February 2011 edition of Vogue magazine, Colorware offers customers the choice of 28 solid, metallic, and pearl colors. If your teen isn’t a fan of any of the colors, Colorware can mix several together for an additional fee to create the perfect blend. Worried that the new paint job won’t match the rest of the computer? Colorware also paints Magic Trackpads, Magic Mouses, and wireless keyboards.

A case cover is one of the best MacBook accessories for teens

When you were a teen, did you want to own the same exact thing as all of your peers? Yes, but you also wanted it to be better than the version they had. A colorful or patterned case cover is an inexpensive and great way to help your teen express her individuality. Because nothing says “I’m different” like owning the same computer as everybody else, right? Case covers are available in a variety of styles and materials. You can even purchase a translucent case cover in your teen’s favorite color.

An invisibleSHIELD is one of the best MacBook accessories for teens

Teens are messy. They spill soda, eat chips while updating their Facebook status, and lose their MacBook in a pile of dirty laundry. MacBooks aren’t cheap, so odds are high that you don’t plan on purchasing another one any sooner than you have to. Help your teen protect his MacBook with an invisibleSHIELD cover. Scratch resistant and dent resistant, this clear cover was originally created by the US Military. Dirt and sharp objects don’t stand a chance.

Early in 2011, Verizon started offering the iPhone. For years, you could only get an iPhone through the cell phone carrier AT&T. Now that Verizon now has their hands on it, the iPhone is able to reach an even broader market. More people with an iPhone means more apps to use. Are you looking for a new iPhone apps to mess around with? Bored with Angry Birds and Words With Friends? Whether you’re looking for new games or ways to get back at your enemies, there’s an app that’s right for you. Create voodoo dolls, cast magic spells, and track the presence of ghosts near you using the iPhone apps mentioned below.

Create Voodoo Dolls with an iPhone App

Are your boss and coworkers getting on your nerves? Tired of dealing with obnoxious neighbors? Healing from the pain of a broken heart? Don’t let them get away with it! Get revenge with iVoodoo. Use your iPhone camera to take a picture of the guilty party, or download one from an email or website. Upload the photo to the voodoo doll provided in the app, and teach the person who was stupid enough to mess with you a lesson they’ll never forget. In addition to sticking pins in all sorts of painful places, you can use iVoodoo to help others. Voodoo doesn’t always have to be evil.

Cast Magic Spells with an iPhone App

Tired of working hard to get the things you want in life? Cast a magic spell instead with Charodan’s Magic Spell Book for the iPhone. Be careful, though; this app is rated 4 stars, and fellow users warn that it is not a toy. The book contains the 7 most popular spells, all of which can also be purchased separately, on iTunes. Find love, banish away evil spirits or people, gain protection, and/or cast spells for victory, luck, confidence, and travel. All spells are spoken by Charodan, a sixth generation wizard. Spells will only work for those who believe in them.

Track the Presence of Nearby Ghosts with an iPhone App

Do you ever get the feeling you’re not alone in your house? Find out whether or not you’re just paranoid with the Paranormal State EMF Meter. Created by Moderati, this app measures electromagnetic fields to determine if a ghost or spirit is lurking nearby. The best part? This app can be switched from an automatic to a manual mode, providing you with the opportunity to freak out unsuspecting friends and family members.

Are you a fan of the iPad? Join the club. According to Steve Jobs, co-founder and CFO of Apple,, over 15 million iPads were sold in 2010. That’s fairly impressive, especially when you consider that the figures are not based on a full 12 months; the iPad wasn’t even released until April of 2010. The iPad 2 was released in March of 2011 and it is estimated that the iPad sold over 500 thousand units on the first day. Ready to learn more fun facts about the iPad? Continue reading to learn about usage statistics, popular apps, and why you should never jailbreak an iPad.

Usage Statistics for the iPad

While the iPod was more popular with males than females, most studies show an equal amount of male and female iPad owners. Also worth noting: when the iPad was first released, only 34% of users were female. The number has continued to grow, and approximately 49% of women in the United States now own an iPad. The average iPad owner is male, Caucasian, and between 35-44 years old. Coming in second place for usage are 21-29 year olds, with 19% of them owning an iPad. Apple lovers tend to be repeat customers; 30% of people with an iPad 2 also own the original iPad.

Popular iPad Apps

Looking for the best iPad apps? Well, what are you interested in? Create your own library full of books you’d like to read with iBooks, one of 2010′s most popular book apps. Entertain your children (or yourself) while stuck in long lines or crowded waiting rooms with movies and TV episodes on Netflix or Flixster. Drown out your coworker’s terrible choice of music with Pandora, a free music app. Use The Photo Cookbook to view tasty recipes and learn the steps required to properly prepare different dishes.

Don’t Jailbreak your iPad

What is jailbreaking? Jailbreaking refers to the act of hacking into a phone or other electronic device to switch carriers. It can also be used to customize screens and download apps not offered by Apple. Sounds good, right? Sure, until you consider the fact that Apple is fighting to make jailbreaking illegal. Did you know that you can go to jail for up to 5 years if you jailbreak an iPad? It’s not worth it. If you want to customize your phone, add some stickers or something. It’ll keep you out of trouble.

The future of the entire line of Apple products continues to look very bright indeed, thanks in part to the International Trade Commission’s March 23, 2011 ruling in favor of the technology giant in its ongoing patent battle with Nokia. Dating back to 2009, the two companies have been locked in litigation over, among other issues, Nokia’s allegation that the iPhone and iPad 3G represented infringement upon several patents held by Nokia. The ruling is an extremely positive outcome for Apple, as the ITC holds the authority to halt imports into the United States of products found to infringe upon the intellectual property of others, and a ruling in the opposite direction could have been dire indeed. Though the entire ITC court still must declare its concurrence with Judge James Gildea’s ruling in the matter, the initial victory bolsters Apple’s prospects significantly.

The lengthy patent wars between Apple and Nokia are so critical because they have great bearing on the future of the worldwide market for portable devices such as the iPad, iPod and iPhone, among other Apple products. Because the stakes in the battle are so high, almost immediately after the initial ITC ruling in Apple’s favor, Nokia filed yet another complaint alleging that the iPhone and other products infringe upon seven patents related to data synching, operating systems, call quality, and other tablet, computer, and phone features. Therefore, it appears that the recent ITC ruling was simply the conclusion to one battle in an ongoing war.

Despite the protracted patent litigation, Apple products such as the iPad 2 show enormous promise in terms of breaking into previously limited market sectors. Specifically, many industry observers believe that the newest incarnation of the popular tablet device has the potential to gain ground in the elusive enterprise segment. Business users can benefit from the appealing price structure and the fact that no premium is attached for enterprise clients. Additionally, Apple has launched its Joint Venture service intended to support small business users of its products. Further making the iPad 2 a logical choice for enterprise customers is the proliferation of business applications which have launched in recent days. Dictation, file sharing programs and PC synchronizing applications are now available, making device integration that much simpler for business clients.

Tech geeks and bloggers are raving over the new Apple iPad 2, but are their glowing recommendations warranted? It seems as though any time Apple releases a new product, it’s something of a technological Golden Child. The iPod, the iPhone, and now the iPad have all romanced tech-hungry consumers into believing anything Apple must be the next best thing. But, will the same pattern apply to the new second generation Apple iPad?

Aside from scarcity in the market, it seems the second generation iPad is well on its way to gaining the media darling status each previous Apple device has enjoyed. For most consumers, waiting up to a month to get their new iPad will be well worth the exercise in patience. If you’re on the fence about upgrading, here are some things to consider before whipping out that plastic.

The Pros

Thinner design – the new second generation Apple iPad, at just 8.8 millimeters, is much slimmer than the 13.4 millimeter first generation version.

Lighter weight – Apple trimmed a little thickness and width from the original iPad design, resulting in a svelte 1.3 pounds.

Better operating system – running on iOS 4.3, the second generation iPad is notably missing many of the bugs its first generation sibling displayed. The browser performance is nothing short of phenomenal.

More features – Want to use your new second generation iPad on Verizon’s 3G network? You can. Like the gyroscope feature of your iPhone 4? The new Apple iPad has it, plus dual cameras, as well as HDMI and video mirroring output options so you can see your iPad screen on your TV screen.

Same price points – You get all the increased performance and gadgets at the same pricing structure offered with the original Apple iPad.

The Cons

Hard to get – As reported by numerous media outlets in recent weeks, it’s hard to get your hands on a new Apple iPad 2 without a wait. Since many of the internal parts are made in Japan, the recent disasters overseas may make it even harder to get.

Bugs – The new iOS 4.3 operating system has an odd glitch concerning the home button. It doesn’t always work.

Only a peripheral – iPads are still only intended for use as peripheral devices. They are meant to supplement your Mac or PC, not replace it entirely. Sorry, Charlie. You’ll still need a computer.

Trying to decide if the iPhone is the right phone for you? Created in 2007, the iPhone is an amazing device if you are a person who is looking for something other than a standard cell phone. The Apple iPhone has several features currently not offered with any other phone on the market. There are numerous reasons you should purchase an iPhone, including applications, storage capabilities, and options for internet and email.

Purchase an iPhone for the applications

Applications, commonly referred to as apps, are one of the most popular features Apple’s iPhone has to offer. Apps can help keep your personal and professional life organized. Use apps to decide what to cook for dinner or locate restaurants in the area. Track weight loss results or record calories consumed. Follow Ebay auctions, list items for sale on Craigslist, and manage your PayPal account with iPhone apps. Download apps for Facebook, Twitter, and your other favorite social networking sites. Whatever you love to do, there is an iPhone application available that meets your wants and needs.

Purchase an iPhone for the storage capabilities

Tired of trying to decide which pictures and videos to delete? Wish you had more space to download songs? The iPhone offers users the choice between 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB of storage. That means your iPhone can hold hundreds, possibly even thousands, of photos, songs, and videos. In addition to providing storage for all of these items, the iPhone also offers the option for items saved on your phone to be uploaded to your personal computer or laptop.

Purchase an iPhone for the email and internet options

Did you see that funny email your friend sent, or the cute pictures of your nieces and nephews? What about that important message from a potential client? Check emails anywhere with an iPhone. If you want instant access to all of your email accounts, as well as the ability to connect to the internet no matter where you are, an iPhone can make that happen. Studies performed by Nielsen have shown that over 88% of iPhone owners use their iPhone to access the internet.

Many individuals are purchasing the Apple iPhone since you can do just about anything with it, such as talk to . . .

Many individuals are purchasing the Apple iPhone since you can do just about anything with it, such as talk to your friends and co-workers face-to-face and download music. The Apple iPhones are expensive, but worth every cent that you will pay for it. It is one of the best phones that you can ever own. Before Ebay and Amazon, the only way you could purchase an Apple iPhone is through Apple. By purchasing your Apple iPhone through Ebay or Amazon, you will save money. Plus, you won’t have to deal with customer service representatives who try to get you to purchase more accessories than you need.

Purchase New or Used iPhones on Ebay

Apple may offer you a deal that you may not be able to resist, but you can purchase your used or new Apple iPhone through Ebay. You will have the option to purchase the phone now or bid on it. To make sure that you are not paying too much money, put in an amount of money that you are willing to pay for your iPhone in the price box. A number of iPhones will appear and you can choose from that selection. You won’t have to sign up for a plan, until you receive your iPhone. In order to purchase the iPhone, you will need to create a free Ebay account and pay for your item with PayPal.

Customer Service Representatives

When you order from a vendor that the product came from, sometimes their customer service representatives can be annoying. Once you let the customer service representative know what you need, they will more than likely try to get you to purchase other accessories that you may not be ready to get yet. They may even offer you a discount, but at the time, the only thing that you want is the iPhone. You may even have to be rude to the representative to let them know that all you want is your iPhone and plan.
