Published: June 13, 2026 | Last Updated: June 13, 2026 at 4:52 PM.

APPLE VALLEY, MINNESOTA - A brush fire outside a Kohl’s department store in Apple Valley briefly spread to the exterior of the building Saturday afternoon, prompting a large emergency response and the temporary evacuation of the store.

Just after 1:20 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026, crews from the Apple Valley Fire Department, Apple Valley Police Department, and Allina Health were dispatched to the Kohl’s store in the 14000 block of Florence Trail following reports of a brush fire near the front of the business. Initial reports indicated the fire started in vegetation outside the store before spreading to the front of the building. Due to concerns about the fire's proximity to the structure, the incident was upgraded to a second alarm, bringing additional Apple Valley fire units to the scene at approximately 1:48 p.m. Firefighters quickly worked to contain the blaze and prevent further extension into the building. By 1:54 p.m., crews reported the fire was extinguished, and additional units that had been responding were slowed to routine status.

As a precaution, the Kohl’s store was evacuated while firefighters ensured the fire had been fully extinguished and that no hidden hot spots remained. Fire crews continued working near the store’s right-front entrance following the fire knockdown, conducting checks to ensure the blaze had not spread further into the structure. Around 2:16 p.m., employees were allowed to return to the building, and normal store operations resumed while firefighters completed their final assessments outside.

According to Apple Valley officials, it was believed the fire started in the mulch near the building, then spread to the bushes and the building's exterior facade and insulation. The cause of the fire is still being investigated. Officials confirmed there were no injuries.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.

Published: June 11th, 2026

RAMSEY COUNTY: A 20-year-old St. Paul woman is facing a felony charge after prosecutors allege she intentionally struck a DoorDash driver with her vehicle following a road rage confrontation that escalated into a physical fight.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Ramsey County District Court, Tamoreai Kay Marie Allen, 20, has been charged with one count of Second-Degree Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. Prosecutors allege Allen used her vehicle as a dangerous weapon when she struck the victim following the altercation.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:23 a.m. on June 10 near the intersection of Front Avenue and Como Avenue in St. Paul.

According to the complaint, the victim, identified in court documents as ARE, told investigators she was working on DoorDash deliveries when the encounter began. She said she was driving south on Dale Street when Allen allegedly began honking at her, tapped the rear of her vehicle, yelled at her, and continued following her through traffic.

The complaint alleges Allen later drove into an oncoming traffic lane, pulled alongside the victim's vehicle, yelled at her, and exited her car. The victim told investigators Allen then pulled her hair through an open window while the victim's vehicle was still in drive.

According to the complaint, the confrontation escalated into a physical fight in the street, with both women punching each other and pulling hair. The victim told investigators the fight ended after both agreed to let go of one another following a countdown.

The victim alleged Allen then ran back to her white Ford Taurus and said, "Alright bitch, I got you."

Witnesses told police they observed Allen enter her vehicle after the fight and drive toward the victim as she walked back to her own vehicle. One witness stated Allen accelerated and intentionally struck the victim before driving away.

Another witness told investigators the vehicle disregarded a red light and had a "clear intention" of hitting the victim. The witness said the driver could have avoided the collision but did not slow down.

A third witness who recorded part of the altercation told police she saw the victim walking toward her vehicle after the fight when Allen drove south on Dale Street and struck her.

The victim told investigators she heard a bystander yell a warning before seeing Allen driving toward her. She estimated Allen accelerated to approximately 30 to 40 mph and swerved toward her as she attempted to move out of the way.

According to the complaint, the victim believed she was going to die before she was struck. Investigators say she hit the windshield of the Ford Taurus and rolled onto the roadway before Allen continued driving away.

The victim suffered road rash injuries to her left arm and shoulder and was transported to Regions Hospital for treatment.

Police later located Allen's Ford Taurus parked and unoccupied near her residence on Hoyt Avenue. According to the complaint, officers observed significant damage to the windshield and passenger side of the vehicle, and investigators found hair lodged in cracks in the windshield.

The complaint states Allen's mother told officers her daughter contacted her via FaceTime and was hysterical after what Allen described as a road rage incident that escalated into a physical confrontation. According to the complaint, Allen told her mother that the other woman had jumped onto the hood of her vehicle and fell off after she drove away.

Allen was later located at the residence and arrested.

The allegations contained in the criminal complaint are accusations. Allen is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.

Published: June 13th, 2026

EAGAN, MN: A Maplewood man is facing two felony charges in Dakota County after prosecutors allege he threatened multiple people with a firearm and a large butcher knife during a series of incidents at an Eagan apartment complex earlier this week.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Dakota County District Court, Martell Kareem Hopkins, 32, of Maplewood, has been charged with two counts of Threats of Violence (Intent to Terrorize) stemming from incidents that occurred on June 10 and June 11, 2026.

Each felony count carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and fines ranging from $3,000 to $10,000.

Reports of Disturbances Lead to Police Response

According to the complaint, Eagan police were dispatched at approximately 4:07 a.m. on June 11, 2026, after receiving reports of disturbances at an apartment complex on Eagandale Place. Callers reported that a man was banging on the doors of multiple apartments, yelling, had smashed a television, and had left an apartment carrying a knife. When officers arrived, they spoke with a woman identified in court records as "Victim 1." She told investigators that the incident had begun the previous evening around 9:30 p.m. when Hopkins allegedly woke her while repeatedly cocking a firearm inside her residence.

The woman reported that Hopkins allegedly stated he was "going to kill something" and was going to kill anything living inside the residence. According to the complaint, she was the only person present at the time, though two dogs were also in the home. She further reported that Hopkins threatened to kill her while repeatedly manipulating the firearm and warned her not to tell anyone about the incident or he would harm her.

Investigators say Hopkins later left the apartment but returned during the early morning hours of June 11. The complaint alleges he woke the woman again, became upset while looking for his father, grabbed a tablet, and threw it into a television, damaging it. The woman told police Hopkins made additional statements about killing someone before she attempted to call 911.

Before leaving, Hopkins allegedly entered the kitchen, armed himself with a knife, and struck the television with it before exiting the apartment.

Neighbor Says Suspect Threatened Them With Knife

A neighboring resident, identified in court documents as "Victim 2," also provided a statement to investigators. The neighbor told police they awoke shortly before 4 a.m. to loud banging at their apartment door. When they opened the door, they found Hopkins standing outside. According to the complaint, Hopkins attempted to force his way into the apartment, and they had to push him back to prevent him from entering.

They told officers Hopkins repeatedly made threats about killing someone and, at one point, threatened to enter their apartment and kill them. After the banging temporarily stopped, they opened their door again and allegedly found Hopkins standing outside holding a large butcher knife.

Court records state Hopkins then allegedly told them, "I'm gonna kill you. The next time I see you, I'm gonna kill you." They reported believing Hopkins was capable of carrying out those threats.

Suspect Allegedly Admitted Threatening Victim

Police later located a man matching the description provided by the victims and identified him as Hopkins. After being advised of his Miranda rights, Hopkins allegedly told officers he had gone to the apartment complex to visit his girlfriend, who lived in the same building. Hopkins reportedly admitted he had been drinking alcohol and that he and his girlfriend argued because she did not want to have sex with him.

According to investigators, Hopkins admitted going to his father's apartment, grabbing a knife, and smashing a television. While he initially denied threatening anyone with a knife or firearm, court records state he later admitted threatening Victim 1 with both a firearm and a knife.

The complaint further alleges Hopkins admitted to stealing a firearm but refused to tell officers where it was located.

Prosecutors Seek $75,000 Bail

The Dakota County Attorney's Office requested that bail be set at $75,000 without conditions, or $50,000 with conditions. Proposed release conditions include no contact with the victims, exclusion from their residences within a one-mile radius, surrender of any firearms or weapons, abstinence from alcohol and controlled substances, random chemical testing, participation in a pretrial release program, and compliance with all future court appearances.

The court set bail at $75,000 with conditions, $3,000 cash bail with conditions, or $30,000 non-cash bail with conditions. As of the writing of this article, it does not appear that Hopkins has yet posted bail and remains in custody at the Dakota County Jail.

Extensive Criminal History Cited

In the prosecution's bail memorandum, prosecutors noted that Hopkins has an extensive criminal history that includes convictions for felony domestic assault in 2021 and 2022, felony violation of a Domestic Abuse No Contact Order in 2020, felony third-degree assault in 2019, misdemeanor domestic assault in 2018, providing a false name to a peace officer in 2017, and felony aggravated second-degree robbery in 2017.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.

Published: June 13, 2026

LAKEVILLE, MINNESOTA: A Farmington woman is facing a felony criminal vehicular operation charge after authorities allege she ran a red light while looking at her cellphone, causing a serious crash in Lakeville that left another driver with a severe neck fracture and long-term injuries.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Dakota County District Court, Christy Jennifer Dwinnell, 50, of Farmington, has been charged with one count of Criminal Vehicular Operation Resulting in Substantial Bodily Harm (Negligence and Schedule I or II Controlled Substance Present), a felony offense under Minnesota law.

The charge stems from a two-vehicle crash that occurred on September 28, 2025, around 5:42 PM at the intersection of 215th Street West and Dodd Blvd in Lakeville, MN.

Crash Left Multiple Victims Injured

According to the complaint, Lakeville police officers responded to reports of a serious crash and found a silver Ford Explorer SUV partially on a retaining wall and sidewalk. A green Toyota Sienna minivan involved in the collision remained in the roadway behind the SUV. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage.

Investigators said they made contact with the driver of the minivan, identified in court documents as the victim, who remained trapped inside the vehicle along with her two children while emergency personnel evaluated their injuries. The victim reportedly told officers she was unable to move her neck following the collision. One of her children also complained of abdominal injuries. The victim and both children were transported to a hospital for medical treatment.

Defendant Allegedly Admitted Running Red Light

Court documents state officers spoke with Dwinnell at the scene. She was reportedly uninjured and allegedly admitted to running a red light after looking down at her cellphone.

According to the complaint, Dwinnell told officers the crash was "completely her fault." Investigators also noted that Dwinnell's speech appeared slow, labored, and slurred during their interaction. The complaint goes on to state that Dwinnell told officers she had taken a 500-milligram Methocarbamol pill, a muscle relaxant, earlier that morning. She also reportedly disclosed taking additional medications, including medication prescribed for ADHD, and stated she believed she could still drive if she did so cautiously.

Police also interviewed witnesses at the scene who reportedly corroborated that Dwinnell entered the intersection against a red traffic signal and struck the victim's minivan.

Blood Testing Revealed Controlled Substance Metabolites

As part of the investigation, officers obtained a search warrant for a blood sample from Dwinnell. The sample was submitted to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for analysis.

According to the complaint, laboratory results revealed the presence of THC metabolites and amphetamine metabolites in Dwinnell's blood. Court documents note that amphetamine is classified as a Schedule II controlled substance under Minnesota law.

The felony charge alleges Dwinnell operated a motor vehicle in a negligent manner while a Schedule I or Schedule II controlled substance, or its metabolite, was present in her body and that her actions resulted in substantial bodily harm to another person.

Victim Suffered Serious Neck Injury

Investigators later obtained the victim's medical records, which detailed the extent of her injuries. According to the complaint, the victim sustained a C2 cervical vertebra fracture, commonly referred to as a "hangman's fracture." The injury reportedly required ongoing neurological treatment and occupational therapy. The victim told investigators that the collision caused her C2 vertebra to split into two pieces.

Under Minnesota law, substantial bodily harm includes injuries that involve a temporary but substantial loss or impairment of a bodily function, a temporary but substantial disfigurement, or fractures.

Potential Penalties

The felony charge carries a maximum penalty of three years in prison and fines ranging from $3,000 to $10,000, according to the complaint.

A summons has been issued requiring Dwinnell to appear in Dakota County District Court. The first court appearance is set for July 14, 2026, at 9 AM in Hastings, Minnesota. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.

Written by: Will Wight

Published: June 12th, 2026

WHITE BEAR LAKE MN: A White Bear Lake man is facing a felony criminal vehicular homicide charge after authorities say he was intoxicated when he turned in front of a motorcycle, causing a crash that killed the rider.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Ramsey County District Court, 63-year-old Robert Marines Rodriguez is charged with one count of Criminal Vehicular Homicide — Operating a Vehicle in a Negligent Manner While Under the Influence of Alcohol.

The charge stems from a fatal crash reported at approximately 8:31 p.m. on June 10 at the intersection of Highway 61 and Highway 96 in White Bear Lake.

According to the complaint, Minnesota State Patrol troopers responded to a report of a collision involving a Jeep and a motorcycle. The motorcyclist, identified in court records as DML-M, 31, suffered traumatic injuries and later died at a hospital.

Investigators allege Rodriguez was driving a Jeep and attempting to turn left from Highway 61 onto Highway 96 when the collision occurred. Rodriguez reportedly told troopers he had a yellow turn arrow and did not see the motorcycle before turning in front of it.

Witnesses told investigators the motorcycle was traveling northbound on Highway 61 and had a green light as it entered the intersection. The complaint alleges Rodriguez turned in front of the motorcycle, causing it to strike the side of the Jeep.

Troopers reported observing signs of impairment after speaking with Rodriguez, including the odor of an alcoholic beverage, slurred speech, bloodshot and watery eyes, and poor balance. Authorities also allege he performed poorly on a field sobriety test.

According to the complaint, Rodriguez registered a preliminary breath test result of 0.27 blood alcohol concentration, more than three times Minnesota's legal limit of 0.08. He allegedly admitted to consuming a Bloody Mary and a shot of Fireball before the crash.

Rodriguez was arrested at the scene, and investigators obtained a blood sample for further testing. Those results were still pending at the time the complaint was filed.

Court records further indicate Rodriguez has a prior DWI conviction from 2021.

The criminal charge carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, a $20,000 fine, or both. The allegations contained in the complaint are merely accusations, and Rodriguez is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Published: June 12th, 2026

EAGAN, MN: A Flock Safety camera alert for a vehicle displaying stolen license plates led to a high-risk traffic stop and criminal charges after Eagan police stopped a vehicle Wednesday evening, driven by a woman allegedly subject to Minnesota's ignition interlock requirements.

According to court documents, the incident began on June 10, 2026, at approximately 8:42 p.m. when an Eagan Police Officer received a Flock alert regarding an older-model Ford Taurus displaying a Wisconsin license plate that had been flagged as stolen. Shortly after receiving the alert, the officer located the vehicle stopped at the traffic-light-controlled intersection of Eagandale Place and Lone Oak Road in Eagan. As she drove past the vehicle, she observed a female driver. Additional officers from the Eagan Police Department were requested, and officers continued to follow the vehicle into Apple Valley until authorities conducted what was described as a high-risk traffic stop on eastbound 127th Street West just east of the northbound on-ramp to Cedar Avenue. Officers secured the vehicle and took its occupants into custody. Police said there were three occupants inside the vehicle. Apple Valley Police also assisted on the scene with traffic control.

The driver was identified as Latoya Maureen Thomas, 41, of Wisconsin. According to the criminal complaint, Officer Thomas read Thomas her Miranda rights before speaking with her about the vehicle and the circumstances surrounding the stop. Thomas reportedly told investigators that the Ford Taurus belonged to the front-seat passenger, identified in court documents only as "ARL." She stated that she was in the process of moving and that ARL had come to assist her and her boyfriend. Thomas further told officers she was driving ARL back to a residence in Wisconsin.

According to the complaint, Thomas said she had known ARL for approximately 1 to 2 years and believed he had recently purchased the vehicle, but she did not know how he had acquired it. During the investigation, officers conducted a records check and discovered Thomas was subject to an ignition interlock restriction on her driving privileges. A subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly revealed that the Ford Taurus was not equipped with a required ignition interlock device.

As a result, Thomas is facing a formal criminal complaint alleging that an ignition interlock-restricted driver operated a motor vehicle that was not equipped with an approved ignition interlock device. Authorities also cited another individual for receiving stolen property and bringing stolen goods into the state. Court records indicate that the person was not formally charged at the time of the citation.

No injuries were reported during the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges could be filed as authorities continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the stolen Wisconsin license plate and the vehicle involved.

Anyone charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

Published: June 11th, 2026

EAGAN, MN: An Eagan man who fled the scene after striking and killing a pedestrian earlier this year has been sentenced in Dakota County District Court. Rolando O. Miranda Martinez, 58, entered a guilty plea on April 15, 2026, to one count of Leaving the Scene of a Collision Resulting in Death. He was formally sentenced on June 11, 2026.

The conviction stems from a March 7, 2026, crash that claimed the life of Leslie Ann Youngberg, 40, near the intersection of Cliff Road and Nichols Road in Eagan.

Fatal Crash Occurred Early Morning

According to the criminal complaint, Eagan Police officers responded shortly after 2 a.m. on March 7 to reports of a hit-and-run crash. When officers arrived, they found Youngberg lying face down and unresponsive in the roadway on Cliff Road. Emergency responders transported her to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Investigators learned Youngberg and another individual had been walking northbound on Nichols Road and were crossing Cliff Road when she was struck by an eastbound vehicle. A witness told police he was approximately 20 feet ahead of Youngberg when the collision occurred.

The driver did not stop and continued eastbound after the crash.

Investigation Led Police to Eagan Resident

Using vehicle debris left at the scene and surveillance footage from nearby businesses, investigators identified a white Honda CR-V believed to have been involved in the collision. Police later located the damaged vehicle at Miranda Martinez's Eagan residence.

According to court documents, officers observed Miranda Martinez removing a backpack from the vehicle before entering an Uber. Police stopped the Uber and arrested him. While seated in a squad car, Miranda Martinez allegedly made several spontaneous statements, including references to "one person in the road" and identifying the victim as a woman. After being advised of his rights, investigators say he admitted he had been driving his Honda CR-V around the time of the crash and struck what he initially described as "something" in the roadway. He told police he was returning home from a bar in Minneapolis but denied consuming alcohol.

Miranda Martinez reportedly told investigators he left the scene because he was scared.

Prior DWI History

At the time charges were filed, court records showed Miranda Martinez had three prior Minnesota DWI convictions:

March 2012 — Dakota County misdemeanor DWI

January 2017 — Hennepin County gross misdemeanor DWI

May 2023 — Hennepin County gross misdemeanor DWI

The 2023 conviction stemmed from a rollover crash in Richfield in which court records indicated he was found to be impaired and had a blood-alcohol concentration above the legal limit.

Guilty Plea and Sentencing

Court records show Miranda Martinez entered a guilty plea on April 15, 2026. He was sentenced on June 11, 2026, by Dakota County District Court Judge Luis Morales.

Under the sentence, Miranda Martinez received:

A 12-month prison sentence that was stayed for three years

Three years of supervised probation

180 days in the Dakota County Jail, with credit for 97 days already served

Chemical dependency evaluation and compliance with treatment recommendations

Completion of the Driving With Care cognitive skills program

Completion of the Safe Streets First program

Attendance at a victim impact panel

Random testing as directed by probation

A prohibition on possessing firearms, ammunition, or explosives

Restitution to be determined at a later date

Thirty total days of electronic alcohol home monitoring spread over the probationary period

Thirty total days of sentence-to-service work during probation

Miranda Martinez was convicted of Leaving the Scene of a Collision Resulting in Death involving a driver who did not cause the collision but failed to stop and notify authorities as required under Minnesota law.

Written By: Will Wight

Published: June 11th, 2026

RAMSEY COUNTY: A Ramsey County woman who is currently facing multiple pending assault charges stemming from separate incidents involving law enforcement officers is now accused of biting a nurse at the Ramsey County Law Enforcement Center.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Ramsey County District Court, June Beverly Gee, 31, has been charged with felony fourth-degree assault of a licensed healthcare provider following an incident on June 6, 2026.

The complaint notes that Gee is currently facing several pending assault cases. In November 2025, prosecutors allege she bit one law enforcement officer's hand and kicked another officer in the jaw, causing a concussion, while officers responded to a disturbance at a movie theater in Eden Prairie. She faces a pending felony fourth-degree assault charge in that case.

About a week later, while in custody at a hospital, Gee allegedly bit a sheriff's deputy twice in the arm. She faces a second pending felony fourth-degree assault charge related to that incident.

More recently, prosecutors allege Gee bit one officer and kicked another during a response call at Rosedale Center in Roseville in May 2026. She faces two pending felony fourth-degree assault charges in connection with that case.

According to the complaint, Gee has remained in custody at the Ramsey County Law Enforcement Center since the May incident.

The new charge stems from an incident that allegedly occurred on the afternoon of June 6. Prosecutors say Gee was placed in a wrap restraint for the safety of staff while being held at the facility.

At approximately 4:50 p.m., a nurse employed at the Law Enforcement Center approached Gee to check on the restraint. During the interaction, Gee allegedly repeatedly called the nurse "stupid" and a "fraud."

As the nurse examined the upper portion of the restraint, Gee allegedly bit the nurse on the forearm, according to the complaint.

A written statement from the nurse was obtained by investigators. Authorities also recovered surveillance video that allegedly shows Gee lunge her head toward the nurse as the nurse leaned over her. The nurse immediately pulled away following the alleged bite.

The complaint states the bite left a visible mark, with blood pooling beneath the surface of the skin. Photographs documenting the injury were taken.

In addition to the pending felony assault cases, court records indicate Gee also faces charges of fifth-degree assault in two separate misdemeanor cases.

The allegations contained in the criminal complaint have not been proven in court.
Published: June 10, 2026.

ROSEMOUNT, MINNESOTA - A Minneapolis man is facing a felony assault charge after authorities say he stabbed a Rosemount resident in the chest during a confrontation inside a home in May.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Dakota County District Court, Andrew Thomas Cocherell, 47, of Minneapolis, has been charged with Second-Degree Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, a felony offense carrying a maximum penalty of up to seven years in prison and a fine of up to $14,000.

Victim Seeks Treatment for Stab Wound

The incident occurred on May 22, 2026, at approximately 6:50 p.m., when officers were dispatched to a hospital after receiving a report of a stabbing victim seeking medical treatment. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim and observed what was described in court documents as an approximately half-inch incision to the victim's upper left chest.

The victim told investigators he had been at his Rosemount residence with a woman identified in court records as a witness when Cocherell arrived unexpectedly at the home.

According to the complaint, the witness allowed Cocherell into the residence and spoke with him while the victim remained upstairs. At one point, the witness reportedly came upstairs and warned the victim that Cocherell was carrying a knife and intended to stab him.

Confrontation Escalates

Shortly thereafter, the victim heard an argument between the witness and Cocherell. Court documents state the witness repeatedly told Cocherell to leave the residence. The victim then went downstairs to remove Cocherell from the home.

According to investigators, when the victim approached him, Cocherell allegedly raised his right hand and stabbed the victim in the chest with a knife. The complaint states Cocherell then pulled the knife from the victim and continued holding it at his side.

Despite being injured, the victim reportedly told Cocherell to leave the residence, and Cocherell complied before fleeing the scene. The victim described the weapon as a folding knife with an approximately three-inch blade.

Witness Corroborates Account

Officers later interviewed the witness, who told investigators that Cocherell was her former boyfriend and had a history of showing up uninvited at her residence. According to the complaint, she had specifically told Cocherell not to come to her home that day, but he arrived anyway.

The witness stated that after the victim came downstairs and told Cocherell to leave, the two men became involved in a physical confrontation. During the altercation, she heard the victim say he had been stabbed and observed blood on him. She also reported seeing Cocherell holding what she believed was a knife before he fled the residence on foot.

Messages Allegedly Sent While Hiding Nearby

Investigators also obtained the witness's cell phone and reviewed text messages allegedly sent by Cocherell following the incident. According to the complaint, Cocherell sent messages stating that he was hiding in the woods near the residence and could see police officers at the home while they were investigating the stabbing.

Based on the allegations, prosecutors requested an arrest warrant to ensure Cocherell's appearance in court and to protect public safety.

Bail Set at Up to $100,000

Dakota County District Court issued a warrant for Cocherell on May 26, 2026, with the prosecutors requesting that bail be set at $100,000 without conditions or $50,000 with conditions. The judge ultimately set the bail at $100,000 with no conditions and $50,000 with conditions on May 29, 2026.

Cocherell has not posted bail and remains in custody at the Dakota County Jail.

Extensive Criminal History Noted

Court records indicate Cocherell has an extensive criminal history spanning more than a decade.

The court filing notes prior convictions, including:

Felony Retail Theft (Wisconsin) in 2026

Felony Fifth-Degree Drug Possession in 2025

Multiple theft-related convictions

Multiple Domestic Abuse No Contact Order (DANCO) violations

Felony Threats of Violence

Felony Receiving Stolen Property

Felony Mail Theft

Felony Possession of Burglary Tools

The court documents estimate Cocherell's criminal history score at seven, a factor that could impact sentencing if he is convicted. As with all criminal cases, Cocherell is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.

Published: June 10th, 2026

HENNEPIN COUNTY MN: A Chanhassen man is facing felony assault charges after authorities allege he fired an AR-style rifle during a road rage incident in the area of Interstate 35W and Highway 62.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Hennepin County District Court, Richard Kelly Schickel, 28, of Chanhassen, has been charged with two counts of second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon. Each charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of three years in prison due to the alleged use of a firearm.

According to the complaint, officers responded on June 2, 2026, to reports of shots fired in the area of I-35W and Highway 62.

Investigators say the incident began when a driver, identified in court documents as Victim 1, was traveling southbound on I-35W with his wife, identified as Victim 2. The complaint states Victim 1 moved into the left lane to provide space for a law enforcement traffic stop on the shoulder when another vehicle began tailgating him.

Victim 1 told officers that after braking and honking his horn, he merged toward westbound Highway 62. Prosecutors allege Schickel then pulled alongside the victims' vehicle, pointed an AR-style rifle at the occupants and fired a single round.

According to the complaint, the shot did not strike either victim or their vehicle. However, Victim 1 reported seeing a cartridge eject from the rifle after the shot was fired.

The complaint states that Victim 1 followed the suspect vehicle long enough to obtain its license plate number, which led investigators to a Mazda CX-9 registered to an address in Chanhassen.

Carver County deputies later located the vehicle in a parking lot and reportedly observed a rifle case in plain view. Authorities subsequently obtained a search warrant and allegedly recovered an AR-style rifle, loaded magazines and ammunition from the vehicle.

Court documents state investigators identified Schickel as the suspected driver and that his driver's license photograph matched a description provided by Victim 1.

During a June 3 phone interview, Schickel allegedly acknowledged driving in the area at the time of the incident. According to the complaint, he told investigators that the other vehicle had cut him off and swerved toward him, prompting him to arm himself with the rifle. Schickel allegedly admitted having the firearm on his lap but denied pointing or firing it.

On June 8, Schickel appeared at the Minneapolis Police Department Public Safety Building, where investigators conducted a second interview before placing him under arrest, according to the complaint.

Schickel remained in custody following the filing of the charges.

As with all criminal cases, the charges are allegations, and Schickel is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.

Published: June 10th, 2026

DAKOTA COUNTY MN: Hastings woman is facing felony and misdemeanor charges in Dakota County after authorities say she led deputies on a pursuit through rural Dakota County before being arrested in Cannon Falls and admitting to recent methamphetamine use.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Dakota County District Court, BETHANY ARIANA EMANUELSON, 32, has been charged with felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle and misdemeanor fourth-degree driving while impaired.

According to the complaint, at approximately 1:30 p.m. on June 9, 2026, a Dakota County Sheriff's Office deputy was patrolling near the intersection of 295th Street West and Gaylord Avenue in Randolph Township when he observed a white pickup truck traveling at a high rate of speed.

The deputy allegedly recorded the vehicle traveling 72 mph in a 55 mph zone and turned around to conduct a traffic stop. Prosecutors say the driver initially slowed after the deputy activated emergency lights near 292nd Street and Felton Avenue but then accelerated and continued driving after the squad's siren was activated.

The complaint states the truck traveled north on Felton Avenue before continuing toward Cannon Falls on Highway 52. Deputies pursued the vehicle for approximately five minutes before another officer deployed stop sticks. Authorities allege the truck drove over the stop sticks but continued for about another minute before stopping on a residential road in Cannon Falls.

Deputies identified the driver as Emanuelson, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

According to court documents, deputies observed that Emanuelson appeared unsteady on her feet and was sweating profusely during the arrest. A records check allegedly revealed that her driver's license was revoked and that she had active warrants.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies reportedly found alcohol-related items, including bottles of alcohol, as well as a marijuana pipe in the driver's-side door. Investigators also allegedly located two glass pipes commonly used to smoke methamphetamine, including one containing a dime-sized rock-like substance, according to the complaint.

The complaint states Emanuelson agreed to perform field sobriety tests and that her performance indicated possible impairment. Prosecutors say she admitted to recently using methamphetamine.

After being transported to the Dakota County Jail, Emanuelson allegedly admitted she had been speeding. Deputies later obtained a search warrant for a blood sample, which was collected at a hospital. Laboratory testing results were still pending when the complaint was filed.

Emanuelson is charged with one count of felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle and one count of fourth-degree driving while impaired while under the influence of a controlled substance.

The charges are allegations, and Emanuelson is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.

By 3:30 AM, Apple Valley emergency personnel canceled any units not on scene.

Limitless Media News arrived on the scene around 8:20 AM Wednesday morning, and we saw tree removal crews with Minnesota Tree Experts working to remove the massive tree. It appeared it might also have extended into the second floor of the home.

The full extent of the structural damage has not yet been released. We do know that there were people in the home when the tree fell on the home, and they were able to evacuate when Apple Valley Fire crews arrived on the scene earlier this morning, but we don’t know if there were any injuries at this time. We will be reaching out to Apple Valley officials for more information.

The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers posed by overnight severe weather, particularly strong wind gusts that can bring down large trees and cause significant property damage. Additional storm-related damage may be reported throughout Dakota County and the Twin Cities metro as communities continue assessing impacts from the overnight storms.

Limitless Media News will provide updates as additional information becomes available.
