The Utah landscape contains a lot more red, yellow, and orange than the typical Colorado scene. Overall, I think it made for some striking photographs. If you would like a print or digital copy of one of the images please contact me here.

I really like the perspective in this one. The lines in the sand along with the foot prints lead your eye into the background with the hiker and the mountains, and the clouds keep it from fizzling out at the end.

Anyway, it’s not really a photography book (it actually details my years in policy debate), but I thought I would write something about it because you could very easily use the Blurb service to create a photogrpahy book. All of the pictures I used looked pretty good, the only thing I noticed was that they were slightly more saturated towards yellow than my monitor showed. But you wouldn’t notice unless you were comparing the two.

My next book will probably focus on photography, but I haven’t decided what the subject should be for it yet. Any ideas?

I’m glad I took this when I did, because not too long afterwards, we had a storm that knocked the tree down.

Well, here is the first batch of my pictures from our canoe trip down the Green River in Canyonlands National Park. The other chunk should be forthcoming in the next few weeks or so. This really was a great trip, 50 miles of warm, downstream canoeing. You can also see some of my latest HDR images in this gallery if you look closely (more on that soon).

Since I’m a busy person, it’s also the picture of the week (which I haven’t been updating regularly, but oh well). What I like about this picture, and the one on the homepage, is the backlighting. I think that it really brings out the green colors in the grass. Let me know what you think in the comments!

This weeks photo was taken in January this year soon after the new art museum opened. I really like how it juxtaposes the metal that covers the majority of the building with the glass from the bridge that connects the new addition with the old museum. Archetectural photography is one very interesting subset of this art form.

Here is this week’s post. I thought I might do something a little different this time. I took this photo at the Pike Place Market (you can find more pictures here) in Washington. If you’re ever in Seattle (regionals next year anyone?), definitely make this one of your stops. You can find everything from tulips to flying fish here.

Although Winter and Fall aren’t all bad, the Spring definitely trumps for best season. It’s not too hot or cold, and everything is nice and green. So I thought that this picture might help us remember that. BTW, if you haven’t figured out the last picture yet, let me know in the comments.

There is a new photo this week, just like I promised.

Anyway, I took this a few months ago when we tried to climb Mount Audubon. Since it’s pretty far North we didn’t get there earlier enough to make it to the top, but we hiked to Mitchell Lake, where I got this picture. This one actually has a hidden message in it, let me know if you can figure it out.

Hello, we haven’t spoken for a while.

Basically, I’ve been really busy with no time to work on either my photos or this website. Maybe a few more weeks I’ll get around to more regular gallery posts, but until then I have another idea. Instead of posting an entire gallery, I will attempt to post just one or two pictures once a week.

This week’s photo is shown here. I took it last fall right next to our driveway. I really like the way the backlighting brings the vein structure to life. Let me know what you think with the comments.

I just got back from the NCFCA National Championship Tournament, which has been eating up a lot of my time. I also took my SAT and finished my comp class, so I now have a lot more time to devote to photography.

My first project, though, is a book about my years as a Team Policy debater. It will probably be finished in the next week or two, and then I might post it as a free download. We’ll see.

After that I’ll probably try redesigning the site and getting some more photos up. What would you guys like to see on the site?

Shrine Pass is located above Vail pass and, during the summer, has some great flower photo ops. It was actually recommended to me by Larry Johnson, who has a gallery in Downtown Littleton.

It’s also a fun place for an overnighter, since you can just show up and camp, no permit necessary. But you need a four wheel drive vehicle to get to some of the spots that are off the normal road. I recommend bringing your own water, since there isn’t any near a convenient campsite.

Anyway, I hope you like the photos.

Anyway, this trip is significant because it was my first (and most unfortunately, last) real backpacking trip. I also got hooked on photography during this excursion as well, so you can thank Mr. Edwards from Troop 280 if you like the pictures of this site.

Our trip was a 56ish mile loop in the southern half of the Scout Ranch. We had a great time, although Colorado definitely has better mountains

I hope you enjoy the pictures though, I certainly do. (But I guess that’s a bit biased…)

If you have no idea what a feed reader is, I have three simple steps for you:

1. Download Firefox (unless you already have it of course).

2. Open the news page in Firefox and click the RSS link. (Because I changed my feeds around, you actually should click the rss icon in the address bar. It’s the blue box:

3. In the drop down box that appears right next to the text “Subscribe to this feed using,” choose Live Bookmarks and then click the subscribe now button.

4. A dialogue box will pop up asking you what you want to call this bookmark. Type in something catchy that you will remember and click Add.

That’s it. Okay I lied, there were four steps, but was it really that complicated? Now you have a button on your bookmarks bar called whatever catchy phrase you named it, and when you click on it, it will show you the newest stuff from this website.

PS: Now that you have Firefox, you should start using it instead of Internet Explorer. If you want to know why, just check this book out from the library.

I’m going to try and devote one post for each gallery, so if you want to comment on some pictures from a gallery, just find the corresponding post and comment your heart out.

I’ll also have posts about this site, other sites, cool techniques, and other photo-related babble. Let me know if there is anything else that you’d like to see on the site.

The next project will probably be to revamp the very sorry-looking galleries page. Any ideas?

Over the summer (after everything else ends) I’m going to try and write up the site by hand in Dreamweaver. I have some ideas, but no time .
