Air Products to Feature Technologies That Help Improve Combustion and Lower Costs in Cement Manufacturing at 2012 IEEE-IAS/PCA Cement Industry Conference

Air Products Signs Contract with Yongxin Glassware in China

Air Products (NYSE: APD), a leader in oxy-fuel combustion technology and an integrated solutions supplier to the global glass industry, recently signed a contract to supply its oxy-fuel solution to Kunshan Yongxin Glassware (Yongxin), a leader in heat resistant glassmaking for microwave ovens and other home appliances in China, to improve productivity and reduce emissions.

The integrated oxy-fuel solution includes the supply of Cleanfire® HRi oxy-fuel burners, automatic control skid for burners, and PRISM® vacuum swing absorption (VSA) oxygen generator, which will supply reliable and economical oxygen. Air Products also consulted on furnace design, and process and technique optimization.

Air Products Makes Strategic Acquisition of Xebec’s Adsorption Technology

Air Products (NYSE: APD) today announced it has acquired advanced adsorption technology assets for its Generated Gases product lines from Xebec Adsorption, Inc. In this acquisition, Air Products purchased the technology, intellectual property and know-how related to structured adsorbents, beaded adsorbents, and rotary valves from Xebec, a publicly-traded Canadian company specializing in adsorption technology headquartered in Blainville, Quebec, Canada. Air Products is not disclosing terms of the acquisition.

“This acquisition will strengthen and differentiate our current offering portfolio and gives us immediate access to this innovative technology,” said Victoria Boyd, general manager, Global Generated Gases at Air Products. “Adsorption process technology is a core competency of Air Products and a key component of our gas generation plants that produce significant revenues. The acquisition moves Air Products’ adsorption technology platform to a unique proprietary position compared to our competitors.” Monty Alger, chief technology officer at Air Products added that, “the technology will allow for smaller footprint plants and higher process efficiencies for customers, along with other sustainability benefits.”

Advanced gas separation technology uses solid phase adsorbents to purify gases. Adsorption systems are part of the front-end pre-purification technology for air separation units (ASU) for water and carbon dioxide removal, hydrogen-carbon monoxide syngas purification, vacuum swing adsorption (VSA) oxygen, and pressure swing adsorption (PSA) nitrogen generation.

“Air Products has achieved very high adsorption unit performance by applying advanced process cycles to systems using traditional adsorbent materials. Examples would be our world class hydrogen business and leading VSA oxygen technology. This technology acquisition also provides an offering foundation to enter new gas clean-up and purification markets,” said Alger.

As part of this technology acquisition, Air Products will acquire more than 100 patents with significant focus on areas directly related to Air Products’ existing business interests. Air Products also has acquired Xebec’s technology center and testing facilities in Burnaby and Surrey, both located in British Columbia.

Terms of the deal also include a grant-back license to allow Xebec to continue to sell its systems, predominantly in the biogas, natural gas and associated gas purification markets.

Air Products Completes Acquisition of CryoService Limited

Air Products (NYSE:APD) today announced it has completed the acquisition of the UK company CryoService Limited, which will now be known as Air Products CryoEase® Services.

This acquisition follows an initial 25 per cent stake in CryoService that Air Products purchased in 1998 and subsequent majority shareholding the company acquired in 2008. For over a decade both businesses have operated in partnership to supply cryogenic and specialist gases to customer's in science, leisure and general industry.

"CryoService's commitment to customer service, innovation and technology operations complement Air Products' business," commented Ivo Bols, Air Products' Vice President and General Manager, Merchant Gases – Europe. "This acquisition demonstrates Air Products sustained commitment to our integrated industrial gas model as a means of creating higher growth and profitability. CryoService's existing base in Worcester has become the Air Products' UK and Ireland Centre of Excellence in CryoEase® products and services, as the company plans to extend into new geographies.

Het bedrijf, dat in 1970 werd opgericht, zal verder gaan onder de naam Air Products CryoEase® Services. Air Products vient d'annoncer qu'il avait finalisé l'acquisition de la société britannique CryoService Limited qui portera désormais le nom d'Air Products CryoEase® Services.

Ce rachat fait suite à une première prise de participation de 25% de CryoService effectuée en 1998 par Air Products , suivie d'une prise de participation majoritaire en 2008. Depuis plus d'une décennie, les deux entités travaillent en partenariat pour approvisionner en gaz cryogéniques et gaz spéciaux leurs clients scientifiques, professionnels des loisirs ou de l'industrie générale.

« Le service client, l'innovation et la gestion technique ont toujours été prioritaires pour CryoService et sont en parfaite adéquation avec l'activité d'Air Products », a commenté Ivo Bols, Vice Président et Directeur général d'Air Products pour les Gaz marchands en Europe. « Cette acquisition démontre bien la stratégie d'Air Products : fonctionner comme un producteur de gaz industriels intégré pour optimiser croissance et rentabilité. Imaginé pour les clients qui consomment mensuellement entre 100 m3 (10 bouteilles) et 3 000 m3 d'un seul produit (azote, argon ou oxygène), ce service exclusif comprend la location d'un petit réservoir de gaz liquide sur leur site, directement connecté aux équipements de production, en service 24h sur 24, 7 j/7 et ré-approvisionnable automatiquement.

Après une étude gratuite du site et de ses applications afin de valider le choix de la solution CryoEase® et de déterminer la taille du réservoir (de 230 à 2000 litres), ce dernier est installé rapidement, sans travaux de génie civil ou branchement électrique. Il est ensuite rempli de produit liquide (azote, argon ou oxygène) par un véhicule dédié. Puis le gaz est acheminé, au choix, sous forme liquide ou gazeuse, par un réseau, directement au point d'utilisation et donc disponible de façon permanente.

Les camions CryoEase® actuellement en service sont des 19 t ou 26 t spécialement conçus pour accéder aux sites les plus confinés. Mais leur réelle originalité réside dans leur pompe embarquée. Sa capacité de 28 bars permet en outre d'éviter les arrêts de production habituellement causés par la chute de pression dans le réseau du client au moment du remplissage du réservoir.

Son immersion dans l'azote liquide prévient également toute perte de produit. « Anti-gaspi », la pompe des véhicules CryoEase® est aussi efficace : elle remplit un réservoir de 2000 l en moins de 20 minutes sans même nécessiter la présence du client. Le service CryoEase® supprime toute manutention et manipulation de cadres et bouteilles. Le gaz est directement connecté au point d'utilisation réduisant du même coup l'exposition aux gaz pressurisés. La suppression des connexions et déconnexions des bouteilles garantit quant à elle une absence de pollution éventuelle du réseau de distribution du gaz lors des changements d'emballages.

Le client voit sa procédure administrative allégée et ne paie que le gaz qu'il utilise puisque les pertes résiduelles inévitables avec les bouteilles ne sont plus à l'ordre du jour. Finies les zones de stockage séparées pour les bouteilles de gaz vides et les pleines : l'empreinte au sol d'un réservoir de 1000 l de produit liquide est de 1m x 1m, soit l'équivalent en capacité de 7 cadres environ (ou 70 B 50) qui occuperaient 6 m2 au sol !

CryoService ist spezialisiert auf die Gasversorgung von Unternehmen, die kleinere Volumina benötigen und über die Befüllung von Kleintanks versorgt werden. Air Products Supplies Oxy-fuel Integrated Solution to Techpack Solutions in Korea

Air Products (NYSE: APD), a leader in oxy-fuel combustion technology and integrated solution supplier to the global glass industry, today announced it has signed a contract to supply its oxy-fuel integrated solution to Techpack Solutions in Korea to reduce emissions and improve energy efficiency and productivity in container and tableware glass production.

Under the contract, Air Products supplies its Cleanfire® HRiTM oxy-fuel burners and flow control skid. The company will also install its Prism® vacuum swing adsorption (VSA) unit at Techpack Solutions’ site to supply reliable and economical on-site oxygen used to power the oxy-fuel burners for melting glass.

Air Products Announces North American Price Increase for Liquid and Bulk Industrial Gas Products

Effective, October 1, 2011, or as contracts permit, Air Products (NYSE: APD) will increase product pricing and monthly service charges for merchant customers in North America. The pricing adjustments include increases of:

– 5 to 10% for liquid oxygen, liquid nitrogen, liquid argon, liquid and bulk hydrogen; and;

– 3 to 5% for monthly service charges.

Some price adjustments may be outside of these ranges based on other specific situations.

The revised prices will offset higher operating costs and increased input costs. Air Products is taking aggressive actions internally to mitigate rising costs by reinvesting to improve efficiencies and maintain reliable supply.

Air Products to Site New ASU and Modernize Middletown, Ohio Operations

Air Products (NYSE: APD) today announced it will build, own, and operate a new air separation unit (ASU), a new hydrogen production facility and will make additional investment in an existing ASU and liquefier which has been producing industrial gases in Middletown, Ohio. The new facilities, planned to be on-stream in the fourth quarter of 2012, will provide additional capacity to meet customer demand for industrial gases and merchant liquid products in the region.

“Air Products has supplied customers in Middletown and the surrounding region with on-site and merchant gases since the 1960s. This new investment shows commitment to our customers in the Midwest market, it will expand our capability to serve the area, and it provides significant modernization of our operations there,” said Wilbur Mok, vice president–Tonnage Gases North America for Air Products. Mok noted that the new facilities will replace some smaller existing operations at this location to meet the increased demand for both on-site and merchant industrial gas products.

The new ASU will have production capacity of over 700 tons per day of combined pipeline and merchant oxygen output, and total argon capacity for the site will increase. Air Products will also generate hydrogen at Middletown to meet customer requirements with its PRISM® Hydrogen Generator steam methane reformer (SMR) producing over one million cubic feet per day of hydrogen. Air Products’ India Joint Venture Investing in Three New Merchant Gases Plants; Building a Fourth Plant for Long-Term Supply to Saint Gobain Glass

Air Products (NYSE: APD)today announced that INOX Air Products Ltd., its joint venture (JV) in India, will construct three air separation units (ASU) and liquefiers for the merchant market and also will build a fourth plant for long-term industrial gas supply to Saint Gobain Glass India. The four facilities are scheduled to come on stream during 2012.

“We are the market leader in merchant industrial gases in India, and these new plants are part of our strategy to continue to provide efficient and reliable product to support the strong growth in India. The anticipated manufacturing growth is more than seven percent annually over the next five years, and the demand for industrial gases has been steadily increasing,” said Pavan K. INOX Air Products will build the ASU and liquefier merchant plants to produce liquid oxygen, liquid nitrogen, and liquid argon in the states of Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat and Puducherry. All three locations have a strong manufacturing base, and these cost-effective facilities are strategically located close to the principal markets that they serve.

INOX Air Products will also build an ASU and liquefier for the merchant market and signed a long-term supply contract for nitrogen and hydrogen with Saint Gobain Glass India (SGGI). The production plants, to be located at SGGI’s facility in the state of Rajasthan, will supply nitrogen from the ASU by pipeline and hydrogen from a steam methane reformer (SMR) plant designed to meet the specific requirements of the customer. The SMR is a product offering from Air Products’ PRISM® gas generation portfolio.

Air Products Announces North American Price Increase for Liquid and Bulk Industrial Gas Products

Effective October 1, 2010, or as contracts permit, Air Products (NYSE: APD) will increase product pricing and monthly service charges for merchant customers in North America as follows:

4-8% for liquid oxygen, liquid nitrogen, liquid argon, liquid and bulk hydrogen;
5-10% for liquid and bulk helium; and
3-5% for monthly service charges.

Some price adjustments may be outside of these ranges based on other specific situations.

The revised prices will offset higher operating costs and increased input costs. We are taking aggressive actions internally to mitigate rising costs by reinvesting to improve efficiencies and maintain reliable supply.

Helium is severely impacted by the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) cost increase for crude helium announced last month.

Air Products (NYSE: APD) today announced plans to build a new world-scale air separation unit (ASU) at its La Porte, Texas industrial gases facility. The energy efficient ASU will replace older assets at the site and provide benefits to customers through higher-reliability pipeline oxygen and nitrogen supply, and enhanced production of merchant and electronics products including argon and xenon. The new ASU is to be on-stream in October 2011.

Air Products and the Abdullah Hashim Group (AHG) today announced that their joint venture, Ajwaa Gases Emirates Company LLC, has brought on stream a new Air Separation Unit (ASU) and hydrogen production facility for Emirates Float Glass Company (EFG) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The new plant, built, operated and maintained by the joint venture, is the first ‘over the fence’ gas supply in the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi and one of the first in the Middle East.

Air Products Brasil is also supplying hydrogen, via an on-site plant, and a Cleanfire^® HRi^TMburner system for Guardian’s new float glass line.

“We were able to demonstrate that significant operational benefits, specifically fuel savings, can be achieved with the grouped offering we presented to Guardian. The combination of our technologies and reliable supply of essential industrial gases can provide Guardian with the most efficient way, both operationally and environmentally, to produce float glass from its new production line. Air Products Brasil’s construction of an air separation unit to produce nitrogen and oxygen is part of the bundled product offering for Guardian Tatui. Float glass is produced by floating a continuous stream of molten glass onto a bath of molten tin. The molten glass spreads onto the surface of the metal and produces a high quality, consistently level sheet of glass that is later heat polished. The glass has no wave or distortion and is now the standard method for glass production. In fact, over 90% of the world production of flat glass is float glass. Float glass can be cut and fitted directly to frames or custom tabletops for making modern windows, or used as raw material in processes such as glass tempering, lamination, and manufacture of mirrors and solar panels.

When introduced correctly, industrial grade oxygen used to displace combustion air in the manufacturing process can significantly improve heat transfer to the glass batch and glass bath. The Cleanfire HRi burner’s advanced oxy-fuel boost application offers several unique benefits to glass production. “This technology delivers higher efficiency melting that reduces the amount of fuel consumed to produce each ton of glass. It also reduces the amount of pollutant emissions by delivering a flat flame geometry that incorporates oxygen staging technology,” says Kevin Lievre, global glass segment market manager at Air Products. “Customers using this Cleanfire application can expect to increase glass quality, boost production, and decrease emissions of NOx, SOx, CO2, and particulate matter.”

Air Products Announces Investments in Europe

Today, Air Products announced that it is capitalizing on its recent investment in Eastern Europe with several announcements in the region.

Air Products has signed a contract with Alcoa, in Russia, to supply nitrogen to Alcoa’s aluminum plant in Samara. As part of the agreement, Air Products will install two high purity nitrogen generators, and will take over the existing generator on the site. The new generators will be on-stream in 2009.

Russia is an important growth market for Air Products, where the company is involved in projects in the Moscow region and now in the Samara region.

As the largest supplier of technical and industrial gases in Poland, Air Products is further strengthening its leadership position in the Polish market with the announcement today that it will build a state-of-the-art cylinder filling depot in Warsaw, Poland. The construction is due to start in 2009 and the depot is due to be operational in 2010. The depot will use the latest technology to fill over 3,000 cylinders per day at a pressure of 200 bar, which is the standard cylinder pressure currently used in Poland. A 200 bar cylinder holds a greater quantity of gas than 150 bar cylinders, which translates into cost reduction for the users, as less frequent fillings are needed, and in turn reduces transport and storage costs.

The depot will be equipped to fill cylinders with all types of medical gases, technical gases, including argon, nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide and mixtures, and Linx™ gases, the most technically-advanced range of welding gases available in Poland, as well as modified atmospheric packaging (MAP) gases for the food industry.

This is the second technical gas filling depot to be built by Air Products in Poland, following the opening of the depot in Kędzierzyn-Koźle in 2005.

In Slovakia, Air Products’ new high purity hydrogen plant, in Novaky, is now on-stream. The plant will bring on additional hydrogen capacity to customers in Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary. It complements the company’s existing facility in Litvinov, Czech Republic, and will support key industries such as glass, metals and food.

Air Products Announces North American Price Increase for Liquid and Bulk Industrial Gas Products

Effective October 1, 2008, or as contracts permit, Air Products (NYSE:APD) will increase schedule pricing on liquid oxygen and liquid nitrogen by eight percent, liquid argon and liquid and bulk hydrogen by 12 percent, and liquid and bulk helium by 15 to 30 percent for merchant customers in North America.

The pricing initiatives are needed to address continued cost pressures and the need for ongoing investment in infrastructure to improve operating efficiencies. These cost pressures include escalating material, labor, and energy costs associated with the production and distribution of merchant gas products, and to support capital investment required to meet current and future demand.

Air Products Acquires Harvest Energy Technology to Enhance Global Hydrogen Product Offerings

Air Products (NYSE:APD) today announced it has acquired Harvest Energy Technology, Inc., a leader in the development of hydrogen generation technology for industrial and energy applications, to enhance its overall global hydrogen product offerings. Terms of the deal for the company based in Sun Valley, California are not being disclosed.

“This acquisition enables Air Products to offer a cost-effective generated hydrogen solution to augment our current gaseous tube trailer and liquid hydrogen tanker offerings,” says Robert Dixon, senior vice president and general manager, Merchant Gases at Air Products. “This new hydrogen generation offering rounds out our merchant gases portfolio and enables us to better serve our customers globally.”

“We have worked with Harvest on several hydrogen fueling projects for smaller scale systems. The combination of Air Products’ hydrogen pressure swing adsorption capabilities with Harvest’s reformer technology provides the lowest cost hydrogen available for the merchant market in this production range. Beyond fueling stations, we have already identified several global industrial applications for the system’s capabilities, enhancing our offerings to the steel, glass, metals processing, and photovoltaic markets,” said David Guro, the generated gases global product manager for Hydrogen Generation and Purification at Air Products. Guro added, “This highly packaged on-site hydrogen generation technology allows for easy field installation and is an important addition to the Air Products portfolio of hydrogen delivery options.”

Air Products has teamed with Harvest’s patent-protected on-site reformer technology previously for two United States Department of Energy hydrogen energy station and vehicle fueling projects. The demonstration projects located in Las Vegas, Nevada, and in State College, Pennsylvania at The Pennsylvania State University, provided optimal testing grounds for the successful combination of the two companies’ technologies and also provided early insight to potential industrial system applications.

Die stetige Anhebung des Rohölpreises in den vergangenen Monaten hat einen immensen Anstieg der Betriebskosten in der gesamten Versorgungskette sowohl bei den technischen als auch bei den Spezialgasen zur Folge.

Energie ist ein essentieller Rohstoff innerhalb des Gasgeschäfts; sie wird für den Luftzerlegungsprozess, bei dem Luft in ihre Gasbestandteile zerlegt wird, ebenso benötigt wie für die Hochdruckbefüllung von Gasflaschen und Bündeln oder die Lieferung der Gase an Lieferstellen und Kunden.

Trotz unserer Energiesparprogramme sehen wir uns aufgrund der aktuellen Entwicklung an den Energiemärkten daher gezwungen, ab dem 1. August 2008 den für alle Gasflaschen, Bündel, Minitanks und CryoEase ®-Produkte geltenden Energiekostenzuschlag zu erhöhen.

Kundeninformation Anpassung des GGVS Mautsatzes zum 1 Marz 2008

Anhaltende Kostensteigerungen in Vertrieb und Logistik erhöhen den Kostendruck auf die Air Products GmbH. Insbesondere die folgenden Entwicklungen wirken sich sehr belastend auf die Distribution von Industriegasen aus:

Gestiegene Dieselpreise

Laut Statistischem Bundesamt erreichten die Dieselpreise bei Abgabe an Großverbraucher im November 2007 ihren historischen Höchstwert von 103,96 EUR pro 100 Liter. Im Jahresvergleich (Dezember 2006 - Dezember 2007) stiegen die Dieselpreise sogar um 18,2% von 87,62 EUR auf 103,56 EUR pro 100 l.

Erhöhte Mautgebühren

Die Mautgebühren wurden zum 1. September 2007 um 8,9% von durchschnittlich 12,4 Cent auf 13,5 Cent pro Kilometer angehoben. Darüber hinaus hat das Bundesministerium für Verkehr, Bau und Stadtentwicklung (BMVBS) bereits jetzt die nächste Mauterhöhung zum 1. Oktober 2008 um bis zu 52% je nach Emissionsklasse angekündigt.

Reduzierung der Arbeitszeiten für Kraftfahrer

Seit April 2007 dürfen Kraftfahrer laut Arbeitszeitgesetz nur noch maximal 48 anstelle der bisherigen 60 Stunden pro Woche arbeiten. Diese Neuregelung stellt eine erhebliche Kostenbelastung dar, da der verkürzte Arbeitszeitrahmen zusätzliches Fahrerpersonal erfordert.

Selbst ständige Prozessoptimierungen und Rationalisierungsmaßnahmen können diese zusätzlichen Belastungen nicht völlig kompensieren. Wir sehen uns deshalb gezwungen, Teile dieser Kostensteigerungen an unsere Kunde weiterzugeben und den GGVS/Mautsatz für unsere tiefkalten verflüssigten Gase (Sauerstoff, Stickstoff und Argon) sowie für Wasserstoff anzupassen.

New Joint Venture One Step Closer

Air Products is to ship a cold box, key equipment for an air separation unit (ASU), to reach the port of Abu Dhabi at the end of February 2008. This shipment is the main stage of a project by the joint venture between the Abdullah Hashim Group (AHG) and Air Products to build, operate and maintain a new ASU and a hydrogen production facility for Emirates Float Glass Company (EFG) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The new plant will be the first over-the-fence gas supply in the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi, and one of the first in the Middle East.

The newly set-up UAE joint venture between Air Products and Abdullah Hashim Group combines Air Products’ technology and the regional know-how and experience of the Abdullah Hashim Group, and will deliver projects following Air Products’ globally recognized standards for operation and maintenance.

The cold box is the core element of an ASU and enables the air to be cooled so that it can be separated into different gases. The cold box and other cryogenic equipment are being manufactured at Air Products’ facility in Acrefair, North Wales, UK.

“We are very excited to bring this project one step closer,” explains Richard Boocock, vice president, Tonnage Gases, Equipment & Energy, Air Products Europe & Middle East. “We bring extensive worldwide experience in designing, constructing and operating ASUs, and will provide globally proven in-house nitrogen cryogenic distillation technology. Our partner, AHG, has unrivalled Middle East project management expertise and extensive liquid gases back-up capabilities in the gulf region.”

“Our joint venture enables us to offer the highest standards of nitrogen and hydrogen supply safety, reliability, product purity and power efficiency,” adds Khalid Hashim, managing director of AHG.

Air Products has operated a helium and cylinder gases filling and distribution facility in the Jebel Ali Free Zone in UAE since 1990, and strengthened its presence in the Middle East with the opening of its office in Doha, Qatar last year.

“With leading positions in the Middle East in key markets such as LNG, GTL and refineries, we are now looking at expanding our presence in new sectors – and this new contract illustrates that our core skills can be applied in many different industries,” said Boocock.

“We are proud to be part of a project of such strategic importance to both Emirates Float Glass Company and the United Arab Emirates’ industrial development. This project supports the growing high demand from the construction market in the UAE,” adds Hashim.

Under the long-term supply agreement, the ASU will supply nitrogen and hydrogen for the production of float glass* at EFG’s new state-of-the-art plant located in the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi. The nitrogen and hydrogen facility is expected to be on-stream during the third quarter of 2008 and will include design features allowing for future gas production expansion required for EFG’s float glass Phase 2.

Air Products Builds New Hydrogen Plant in Novaky, Slovakia

Air Products today announced it is building a new high purity hydrogen plant, in Novaky, Slovakia. The plant will bring on additional hydrogen capacity to customers in Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary and is due to be on stream in March 2008.

Americká spoločnosť Air Products, najväčší svetový dodávateľ chemikálií, vysoko čistých plynov a súvisiaceho technologického vybavenia, buduje v areáli Nováckych chemických závodov, a.s., nový závod na výrobu vysoko čistého vodíka. Výstavba bude dokončená vo februári budúceho roka a od marca bude vodík z nového závodu dodávaný zákazníkom zo Slovenska, Poľska, Maďarska a Českej republiky.

Spoločnosť Air Products je najväčším výrobcom vodíka na svete a výstavbou nového závodu na Slovensku posilňuje svoju pozíciu v stredoeurópskom regióne. Prvý výrobný závod v tomto regióne bol postavený v Českej republike v Litvínove a j eden z ďalších sa buduje v Poľsku (Kedzierzyn)08. Dôvodom pre výstavbu nového závodu v Novákoch je skutočnosť, že Air Products odoberá z chemických závodov vodík ako odpadový produkt a vo svojom zariadení ho potom čistí na potrebnú úroveň. V súčasnosti dodáva Air Products svojim zákazníkom na Slovensku celú paletu svojich výrobkov od chemických látok až po vysoko čisté technické plyny, ako sú argón, dusík alebo kyslík, a to vo veľkých objemoch i v malých tlakových fľašiach. Obrat spoločnosti Air Products v Českej a Slovenskej republike (obidve krajiny tvoria spoločnú obchodnú jednotku) dosiahol v uplynulom roku 1,5 miliardy Sk.

Air Products to Expand Liquid Oxygen and Nitrogen Capacity in Poland with New Liquefier

A new liquefier to be built by Air Products (NYSE: APD) will generate an additional 400 tonnes per day (TPD) of industrial gases to meet fast growing demand in Polish manufacturing sectors. The new liquefier will be located at the company’s Kedzierzyn facility in the south of Poland, taking the total capacity there for oxygen and nitrogen products to 800 TPD. The facility is scheduled to be on-stream early in 2009, subject to approvals from the authorities.

Manufacturing in Poland grew by 7.4 percent in the six years to 2006. Nearly 30 percent of the total Polish manufacturing output and approximately 25 percent of new manufacturing investment are located within 150km of Air Products’ Kedzierzyn facility. It is expected that the Polish gases market will become severely short of capacity in 2008 as demand continues to rise and will increasingly rely on imports.

Commenting, Air Products’ vice president, bulk gases–Europe, Graham Rhodes said, “We are delighted to be making our first major new investment in Poland so soon after the acquisition of the BOC industrial gas business from The Linde Group. Air Products Wins Long-Term Contract to Supply Oxygen to Jushi, Asia's Largest Fiberglass Manufacturer

Air Products (NYSE: APD) has signed a long-term contract to supply gaseous oxygen to China's Jushi Group Co., Ltd., the largest fiberglass manufacturer in Asia. This is the third contract awarded to Air Products in support of Jushi's glass production in Tongxiang, Zhejiang Province.

Under this agreement, Air Products will build a new air separation unit (ASU) and oxygen generator to supply on-site oxygen to Jushi. This is the second Air Products built ASU supporting Jushi since 2004. The two ASUs will also produce 600 tons per day of liquid products to supply additional customers, further expanding Air Products' liquid production capacity to meet the fast-growing liquid demand in Eastern China.

"Air Products has been supplying Jushi for our phase one and phase two expansions, and we are satisfied with their technology and service," said Zhang Yu Qiang, chairman of Jushi Group. Jushi, located in the Tongxiang Economic Development Zone, has built the world's largest fiberglass furnace and has embarked on a multiple phase plan to increase production capacity. Air Products Forms Joint Venture with CNOOC Oil Base Group Ltd. to Serve China's Fast-Growing Fujian Province

Air Products (NYSE: APD) today announced that it has formed a joint venture with CNOOC Oil Base Group Ltd., which is a wholly owned subsidiary of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), one of the largest state-owned oil companies and the leading offshore oil and gas producer in the country.

The joint venture will build and operate an air separation unit (ASU) and liquefier in Putian, Fujian Province, to produce liquid oxygen, nitrogen and argon by using cold energy from liquefied natural gas (LNG). It is the first application of LNG cold energy at an ASU plant in China.

Air Products will also build and operate the associated storage and distribution operations at the ASU plant to supply the liquid products to the local market in Fujian Province, a fast growing marketplace for industrial gases.

"This is the first use of cold energy to make industrial gas products in China. Air Products Completes Expansion of Its China Technology Center

Air Products (NYSE: APD) has embarked on a major expansion of its China Technology Center in Shanghai to support the fast-growing businesses in Asia. The expanded center will further complement Air Products’ regional technology centers in Japan, Korea and Taiwan.

The expansion, built on space adjoining the current facility, has a high bay which is equipped with two high-pressure polyurethane machines and accessory tools for both rigid and flexible applications that supplement the existing shoe sole capability. Two spray booths, aqueous and non-aqueous, will be used for spray coating development. The new space also features a general-purpose lab with additional fume hoods, expanded chemicals storage areas and associated office space to provide new application and product development, technical services, process R&D and in-region analytical to support all businesses including Gases, Performance Materials and Electronics.

Air Products' Membrane Manufacturing Facility Expanding to Meet Growing Demand

Air Products (NYSE: APD) today announced that it is doubling manufacturing capacity at its PRISM® membrane production plant in St. Louis, Mo. The 25,000 square foot building expansion project, expected to be on-stream in the summer of 2007, will provide the additional capacity to meet membrane product demand from several major market applications. Air Products currently produces approximately 20,000 membrane modules per year at the location.

The St. Louis facility produces advanced proprietary hollow fiber membranes which separate mixtures of gases by permeating molecules through membrane fibers at varied rates. For example, the PRISM membranes can separate compressed air -- oxygen from nitrogen -- to produce an inert nitrogen gas with 95 to 99.5 percent purity. In addition to generating nitrogen from compressed air, Air Products' membranes are also used to dry air and natural gas, and to recover for reuse industrial process gases such as hydrogen. Air Products' PRISM membranes have a wide array of applications ranging from producing gases to inert fuel tanks aboard aircraft, to use in coal mine methane recovery operations in China, for use in enriching oxygen for passengers on the world's longest and highest highland railway -- the Qinghai-Tibet railway, and to produce nitrogen for blanketing chemical, methanol and liquefied gas shipments around the globe.

Air Products Institutes Bulk Industrial Gas Price Increases

Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD) is instituting the following initiatives:

Effective July 15, 2005, Air Products will increase pricing on liquid/bulk oxygen, nitrogen, argon, hydrogen and helium 5 to 25% as contracts allow. These price increases are primarily related to production, feedstock and distribution cost increases.
Also effective July 15, 2005, Air Products will increase the amount of its hazardous materials (hazmat) charge to $20 per delivery. This hazmat increase reflects the additional costs and investments related to enhanced security and compliance activities.
Air Products instituted an argon recovery charge of $3.00 per 1000 scf, effective June 15, 2005, to cover the significant additional cost increases it has experienced to produce argon as a result of softening steel production and in an effort to meet continued strong demand.

Air Products expects to continue its ongoing regional surcharge and cost recovery efforts related to the extraordinary increases in both diesel fuel and feedstock costs it experiences in specific geographies.

Air Products Acrefair, North Wales, To Host Royal Visit

His Royal Highness, The Duke of York will visit Air Products manufacturing facility in Acrefair, North Wales on Wednesday 13th April 2005.
In his role as special representative for international trade and investment, His Royal Highness will undertake a tour of the manufacturing facility during which he will meet members of staff.

"We are honoured to welcome His Royal Highness to our facility. This visit gives us a unique opportunity to highlight the manufacturing skills of our workforce and profile some of the important projects we are currently working on," said Laurence O'Donnell, General Manager, Air Products Acrefair. "At Acrefair, we manufacture and export plant and equipment all over the world, including process equipment for air separation, natural gas liquefaction, hydrogen purification and other gas processing applications."
