Fox News Channel Celebrates a Decade as Top News Network

Fox News Channel (FNC) achieved a rare television milestone today in clinching ten years as the number one news network in cable television.

Having surpassed CNN in January 2002, FNC has now reigned over the cable news universe for an entire decade while continuing to outpace both CNN and MSNBC combined in total viewership, according to Nielsen Media Research.

Remarking on the feat, FOX News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes said, “We are extremely proud of the phenomenal achievement created by the hard work and talent of the FOX News Channel employees and recognize how difficult it is for a cable network to sustain this level of dominance for a decade. America has clearly embraced fair and balanced news.”

Ten years since becoming number one, FNC has sustained a 147% advantage over CNN and a 144% advantage over MSNBC in Total Day viewership. In Adults 25-54, FNC beat CNN by 92% and MSNBC by 101%. Meanwhile, in Primetime, FNC has surpassed CNN by 131% in total viewers and 58% in A25-54 while overtaking MSNBC by 142% in total viewers and 105% in A25-54, according to the Nielsen averages for January 2012.

In Primetime for January 2012, FNC averaged 1,942,000 viewers, an increase of 78% since January 2002 when the network averaged 1,091,000. In fact, the Primetime ratings FNC achieved in 2002 after becoming number one eclipse what CNN and MSNBC are currently averaging today in 2012 (841,000 and 801,000 viewers respectively). Additionally, FNC’s current 2012-to-date Primetime average beat CNN and MSNBC combined.

During the January Nielsen month, FNC had a clean sweep of the top 13 programs based on total viewers with each of its programs besting its timeslot cable news competitors. The network also claimed nine out of the top ten programs based on Adults 25-54 in cable news. Furthermore, while having dominated the cable news landscape for the past decade, FNC ranked overall fifth this past month, according to Nielsen, only behind ESPN, USA, History and TBS (CNN and MSNBC ranked 23rd and 27th respectively).

News Corp Agrees Plans for Fox News, Fox TV Apps on XBox 360

Microsoft Corp. and News Corporation have announced plans to launch a series of new apps for Xbox LIVE that will feature content from News Corp.'s leading broadcast, news and Web properties.

The apps will incorporate content — as well as voice- and motion-activated controls using Kinect for Xbox 360 — from brands including Fox Broadcasting Co. (FOX), Fox News Channel, IGN Entertainment Inc. and The Wall Street Journal.

Video content from the Fox News Channel and FOX apps will be made available to authenticated subscribers of participating cable and satellite television distributors. News Corp. expects to announce authentication agreements to support the FOX and Fox News apps in the near future.

All the News Corp. apps will be available to Xbox LIVE Gold members and are slated to launch in 2012.

"This new partnership with News Corp., which will bring FOX, Fox News, IGN and The Wall Street Journal to the Xbox LIVE service, is a significant milestone in our vision to bring consumers the entertainment they love, shared with the people they care about, made easy," said Alex Garden, general manager, Xbox LIVE. Dedicated to all-things gaming, the IGN Entertainment app will offer must-watch previews, reviews, gameplay videos and live streams, as well as instant access to game help walkthroughs and IGN's extensive catalog of popular shows, including The Daily Fix and IGN_Strategize. Fans of IGN.com can queue up videos from a browser with a new "watch later" feature, bringing great gaming content to the biggest screen in the house. The app will also have full support for Kinect magic, voice control, and Facebook sharing. Fox News Examines A380 Wing Cracks

Fox News have been questioning whether news that cracks have been found in the wings of the Airbus A380 super-jumbo leave the aircraft unsafe to fly.

According to Fox News, engineers in Australia are calling on airlines to ground these planes immediately, while Airbus and airlines maintain that the planes are indeed safe.

With the political debate season hotting up, and the Iowa caucuses only weeks away, Fox News is to re-air it's Republican Presidential Debate from Iowa on Saturday 17th December at 9pm ET.

The debate, which originally aired on Thursday 15th December, was moderated by a panel of Fox News presenters. Following the debate, they gave their opinion on how the debate went;

Secretary of State Clinton Discusses Troop Withdrawls and Gadaffi Death on Fox News Sunday

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton joined Fox News Sunday to discuss the president’s announcement that all U.S. troops will depart Iraq by year’s end, as well as the death of ousted Libyan Leader Muammar Qaddafi.

Secretary Clinton said that President Obama came through on his commitment to get troops out of Iraq and that the wheels of leaving began during the Bush Administration, citing that the goal all along was for the Iraqi’s to be able to stand on their own.

On Libya, Clinton said she supports an investigation into whether there was any wrongdoing in the killing of ousted Libyan Leader Muammar Qaddafi. She said this would be a way for finding out who was accountable and pave the way for a responsible Libya moving forward.

On Pakistan, and the terrorist group known as the Haqqani network, Clinton told Chris that we want to both talk with them and kill them. She said they’re trying to gauge who among the groups will be sincere about moving forward with an Afghan peace process.

The U.S. has intervened in Libya, and now has troops on the ground in Uganda. When asked why the U.S. has remained out of the growing uprisings in Syria, Clinton said that, “we have to look at every situation and make the right decision,” and that this ties in with President Obama’s overall smart leadership in a complex world.

Fox News to Host Republican Presidential Debates in Iowa and South Carolina

FOX News will host additional Republican presidential debates in Iowa and South Carolina in the upcoming months, announced Michael Clemente, Senior Vice President of News.

The Iowa debate will be held at the Sioux City Convention Center on December 15th from 9:00-11:00 PM/ET, in conjunction with the Iowa Republican Party. Additionally, FOX News will host a debate with the Republican Party of South Carolina at Myrtle Beach Convention Center on January 16th from 9:00-11:00 PM/ET.

In making the announcement, Clemente said, “We are pleased to host these additional Republican presidential debates and provide viewers an opportunity to gain more insight into the nominees at such critical junctures in the 2012 election season.”

Fox News Cover Boston Apartment Block Fire

Fox News have been covering a fire in a Boston apartment block apparently caused by a failed suicide attempt that has injured at least 15 people.

Fox News said on the Fox News Insider blog;

"An explosion followed by a six-alarm fire broke out in an apartment building in Boston early Monday. Shepard Smith reported that officials said this may have been a result of a failed suicide attempt.

"Firefighters rescued at least 15 people from the blaze, including a six-year-old boy who jumped from a third floor window into the arms of a firefighter.

"Mohamed Abdul Jabar, 28, of Medford, was arrested after he showed up at Boston Medical Center with burns, admitting he blew up his own house. Police say he is now facing arson and attempted murder charges."

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor Talks Jobs Legislation on Fox News Sunday

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) joined Fox News Sunday to discuss how Washington will move ahead on jobs legislation, after the Senate defeated the president’s bill this week.

Cantor said the president should “stop campaigning” and find elements in common between the House Republican plan and his own. When Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace asked what Cantor thinks is wrong with the president’s bill, he said he does not like the “all-or-nothing approach” and that he won’t support taxes on small businesses.

Cantor did agree that there is a need for infrastructure spending, but said that we need to cut through the bureaucracy so that jobs can be shovel ready.

To the question of whether to give money to states for teachers and first responders, Cantor replied, “We saw what happened with the stimulus money. Much of that went to the states. And you know what happened? It sustained some jobs for about a year and then the states were faced about with billions of dollars in debt once that year was over it.”

The message from Cantor is clear: “We believe in private enterprise. We believe in small business. Our job creators’ agenda is just that.”

Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Dianne Feinstein also joined Chris Wallace to discuss the alleged Iranian plot to kill the Saudi Arabian ambassador to the U.S., foiled by federal authorities.

She said, “To cross to the other side of the world and try and attack in this country is an escalation, and that’s what concerns us.” She also does not believe the plot was an isolated incident, but rather an ongoing effort by the Quds force. The difference this time is that they attempted to carry out this mission on U.S. soil.

“Iran is increasingly hostile,” Feinstein reiterated. “My hope is that there can be some kind of discussion that can be convincing for the Iranians to change course. Absent that… we are on a collision course. If we want to avoid it, we have to take action to avoid it.”

Neil Cavuto and Fox News Celebrate 15 Years Together

Peter Larsen of the Orange County Register writes about Fox Business Network head Neil Cavuto, who joined a fledgling Fox News operation 15 years ago.

Larsen writes, “Today, of course, Fox News Channel is ubiquitous as it celebrates 15 years since its debut on Oct. 7, 1996. And Cavuto is one of its most recognized faces, from years on Fox News and since 2007 on Fox Business Network, too, where on Tuesday he marks his 1,000 episode of his self-titled show ‘Cavuto.’

“Though it was a few years before Fox took off, Cavuto says that even with the occasional worries about its future – and some reservations from his wife, too, he notes – he was mostly comfortable with his decision to jump to the unknown network.

“I’d been at PBS for years, then started up CNBC, so it was getting to be old hat at these start ups,’ he says. ‘I was not really concerned about the new initiative.’

“And unlike some of his colleagues at CNBC, Cavuto says he also had the freedom to leave for new opportunities.

“‘It was a battle back and forth whether I would re-sign at CNBC,’ he says. ‘For some reason early on they had offered a lot of (longer contracts), because they knew, or were fearing, competitors would arise. I had opted not to. Not that I had any clairvoyance, but I just wanted to have some flexibility.’”

Fox News Keeps 'The Five' in The Schedule Following Successful Summer

FOX News Channel’s (FNC) ensemble opinion show, The Five, has been picked up as a scheduled program for the network’s 5 PM/ET timeslot, announced Roger Ailes, Chairman and CEO of the network.

The lively roundtable of five co-hosts will be comprised of rotating FNC personalities Dana Perino, Bob Beckel, Eric Bolling, Juan Williams, Kimberly Guilfoyle, Greg Gutfeld and Andrea Tantaros.

In making the announcement, Ailes, who created the show, said “The Five is unlike any show in news and politics, from the co-hosts’ chemistry to the provocative, yet fun presentation style. It has quickly connected with the audience, and I’m pleased to install it in our daily lineup.”

The Five originally began as a summertime replacement program for Glenn Beck in July and has steadily increased viewership since its debut. According to Nielsen Media Research, the program was the sixth most-watched show in cable news with an average of 1.4 million total viewers in the third quarter of 2011.

Since its launch, The Five’s total viewership has increased by 16 percent, to nearly 1.5 million viewers in the Nielsen month of October to date. In the key 25-54 demographic, the program is up by 26 percent, averaging 349,000 viewers this month to date, drawing national advertisers back into the 5 PM timeslot.

Fox News Gearing Up for Republican Presidential Debate

Fox News is gearing up for its exclusive Republican presidential debate, broadcast live from Iowa ahead of the state's straw poll.

Fox News' Bret Baier will be in the chair for the debate which airs at 9pm ET.

Prior to the debate, Margaret Hoover and Gretchen Carlson will join Baier to preview the debate.

The O'Reilly Factor will also be looking ahead to the debate at 8pm ET.

Immediately after the debate, Sean Hannity will pick apart the answers, and analyse the fallout at 11pm ET.

Fox News Ramps up Market Coverage as Dow Posts Ninth Largest Drop on Record

Fox News has been covering the market sell-off today in great detail, and Fox & Friends will hit the airwaves an hour earlier tomorrow morning to keep viewers up-to-date.

Your World with Neil Cavuto kick-started the coverage as the markets closed, with Fox Business Network's Cheryl Casone giving the play-by-play of the day's volatile trading session.

Cavuto and Casone also looked at the concerns of debt problems in the Eurozone, including a rumoured French credit downgrade and rumours that Societe Generale, France's second largest bank could be on the brink of collapse.

Discussions also focused on rumours on Wall Street that following a 10 percent drop today in Bank of America shares, that the firm may need an injection of capital to remain solvent.

At 5pm ET, 'The Five' continued the debate, kicking off the show with coverage of the market sell-off.

Fox & Friends will also take to the airwaves at 5am ET Thursday morning, one hour earlier than usual, with a look at the overnight Asian trading, how the trading day in Europe is panning out, and how the futures are indicating the day ahead on Wall Street.

Neil Cavuto to Air Live on Fox News This Saturday as Market Instability Continues

For over a month now, Neil Cavuto has been live on Fox News on a Saturday morning, and this Saturday is no different.

As the markets continue their wild swings up and down around the world, Cavuto will be looking for the answers to the state of the US economy, the national debt, and the worries of a double-dip recession.

On Wednesday's 'Your World', cavuto gave a rallying call to Washington DC, telling congressmen and the White House that he's coming in on his days off to find solutions, and so should they.

Cavuto went on to lambast the politicians of the US, for being in recess and therefore on their summer holidays, when the markets are in turmoil, the debt crisis still continues to weigh on investors and the economy, and the effects of the crisis in the Eurozone.

Cavuto challenged senior politicians, and the president, to take part in this weekend's show, proclaiming that "The Buck Stops Here".

Fox News Focuses on Economy as S&P Downgrades US Credit Rating

Fox News has been breaking into taped programming throughout the night Friday night and early Saturday morning to update viewers on the news that Standard and Poors has downgraded the US sovereign credit rating to AA+ from AAA.

Additionally, Neil Cavuto will be hosting a two hour economics block of live programming from 10am ET on Saturday. It is the third week in a row that Cavuto has been live on the air on a Saturday.

Cavuto, who has been broadcasting all week from Washington DC as Congress came close to the wire on a debt ceiling deal, will look at the effects of the ratings downgrade, and what it means for the economy going forward.

Speaking to Fox News Insider, Cavuto said; "This weekend, we’ll look at why we’re still weakened – very shaken, but sadly, not much stirred. Washington is at a loss about what to do, and markets the world over are flummoxed over whether there’s anything ANYONE can do. That’s why we’re LIVE again this weekend. Same tune. Different Saturday. Same purpose: Cut through the clutter and the noise and help you get a grasp of a world increasingly unable to get a grip.

"...Normally we come out of recessions with a boom, then at best, a slow bust. Not this time. Because this time, we’ve got some company. Actually we’ve got the entire world. Italy’s teetering. Spain’s hiccupping, and nervous European lenders are wondering: do we have enough money to bail out ALL these guys? The truth is, no, they don’t, and we’re hardly in a position here to fix this fix. Our fiscal well has run dry and we’ve just signed onto a debt deal that still adds more than seven trillion dollars in red ink over the next ten years, even after the two trillion in planned spending cuts. Fox News Gets it Right with 'The Five'

Fox News announced that the panel discussion show 'The Five' would replace Glenn Beck over the summer, probably a temporary measure whilst something more long-term is sought to fill the slot.

I think Fox News needn't look any further.

The round-the-table discussion format with five highly opinionated folks is definately something that I was at first skeptical about, but having watched, and found myself enjoying the show, there is definately a gap in broadcast television for a current affairs discussion show, that doesn't include a prominent politician, lawmaker, high-flying businessman or sportsman.

The uniqueness of 'The Five' is the form of anyone's view is valid, and the next person's view is as valid as the person before. Discussion and debate on the day's top story's then ensues.

The benefit for Fox News is that not only is 'The Five' a very economical show to produce, it is simply a table, with five chairs, a couple of camera's and some screens with fancy graphics on them. Secondly, the show consistently produces engaging television, whilst explaining the day's major stories, discussing and debating the issues.

'The Five' also remains an entertaining alternative to fast-pased newscasts or business wrap-ups on the other news and business networks.

The News on News view on 'The Five' is that it should be kept until at least year's end, and see how it performs in the timeslot over a six month period. I'd put some money on it not doing too badly at all.

The Five airs every weekday on the Fox News Channel at 5pm ET and features guest hosts such as Greg Gutfeld, Bob Beckel, Kimberly Guilfoyle, Monica Crowley and Fox Business Network's Eric Bolling.

IZEA CEO Ted Murphy Featured on Foxnews.com Live

When asked why people get addicted to social media Mr. Murphy exclaimed "social media is awesome!" At the same time he pointed out that many people over share information and fail to filter their content appropriately. Murphy, a self-proclaimed social media addict himself with over 12,000 Tweets and 27,000 Twitter followers believes that moderation is key. "I Tweet a lot but I also make a conscious decision to unplug regularly and not share every aspect of my personal life," said Murphy.

Fox News Politics Twitter Feed Hacked, Wrongly Announces Obama Assassination

Fox News has been the victim of a sickening Twitter account hacking, when its @foxnewspoliics twitter feed began announcing that Presiden Obama had been shot dead.

The rogue news rapidly spread around the web, with news services scrambling to confirm the news, however it quickly became apparent that the story was a hoax.

Sceptics quickly identified that the hacker was not using the language expected from a journalist, especially in the first two tweets;

"@BarackObama has just passed. The President is dead. A sad 4th of July, indeed. President Barack Obama is dead," came the first tweet. The string of messages continued:

A journalist simply wouldn't use the term that someone 'has just passed'.

Fox News Replaces Glenn Beck with 'The Five'

Fox News Channel has announced that it will launch a new weekday program on July 11th at 5pm ET as a temporary replacement for the now ended Glenn Beck show this summer.

The temporary ensemble show format was announced by Bill Shine, Executive Vice President of Programming for the network.

The program has been given the title "The Five".

The new opinion show will feature a roundtable ensemble of five rotating FOX personalities who will discuss, debate and at times debunk the hot news stories, controversies and issues of the day.

In making the announcement, Shine said, “The Five brings together an eclectic group of FOX talent whose knowledge of key issues and unique insights will undoubtedly make for a dynamic program.”

Some of the revolving FOX personalities to be showcased in the weekly ensemble include: Greg Gutfeld, Juan Williams, Dana Perino, Judge Andrew Napolitano, Geraldo Rivera, Andrea Tantaros, Eric Bolling, Monica Crowley, Bob Beckel and Kimberly Guilfoyle. The program will also feature added guests, including politicians, celebrities, sports figures and key newsmakers.

Prior to the launch of The Five, FNC will run encore presentations of Glenn Beck from Monday, July 4th through Friday, July 8th.

Glenn Beck Signs off Fox News Channel for Final Time

Glenn Beck signed off as a presenter on the Fox News Channel by thanking his team, his viewers and gave an insight into what he plans for the future.

TVNewser's Merrill Knox wrote;

Beck, who ad-libbed much of his last hour as an FNC host, spoke candidly about the decision to launch a web-based TV channel, saying he hoped he had earned viewers’ trust on “The Glenn Beck Show.” “Anyone watching this show knows that I have bent this format so far out of its structure, out of its parameters,” Beck said. “This is a news channel. I do commentary.”

“This show has become a movement,” he said. “It’s not a TV show. And that’s why it doesn’t belong on television. It belongs in your homes, it belongs in your neighborhoods.”

Beck denied that his departure from Fox News was due in part to a ratings decline, and re-iterated that his show has broken records in its 5pm ET slot. He also said that he has left on good terms with FNC chairman Roger Ailes.

As Beck's final hour progressed, parts of his set were removed, leaving very little of his set left in his final segment where the window blinds were lifted, essentially leaving the set as he "found it", an empty shell.

Fox News Sunday Celebrates 15 Years on the Air

Fox News Sunday, a show that has been on the air longer than the Fox News Channel, will celebrate it's 15th year on April 28th.

Chris Wallace, the show's current presenter, spoke to US News' Paul Bedard about the show's anniversary, and his role as the programme moderator.

"His aggressive but folksy style have put the show on the ratings map and made it the first stop for many of the 2012 GOP presidential candidates. "I think that some of the candidates understand that Fox News Sunday is maybe the very first primary," he says. So far potential candidates Gingrich and Tim Pawlenty have appeared, and Rep. "For a cable show up against the network Sunday public affairs programs, his ratings are impressive, say industry insiders. Consider his April 3 show. Fox News Sunday had a combined 3.7 million viewers between cable and Fox broadcast channels. In March, he averaged a combined 4.1 million viewers.

"Because he has over three decades as a Washington correspondent and is the son of fabled 60 Minutes correspondent Mike Wallace, he brings a different perspective to the job. "At this particular point in my career to be able to take the benefit for all that I've learned in 35 years in Washington and to put it to use, and you just sort of know how it's going to play out, and to be able to attack an issue or question a newsmaker with the benefit of all that perspective is very satisfying," he says."

Fox News Announces Royal Wedding Coverage Details

Fox News Channel will present extensive live coverage of the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton throughout the week leading up to the celebration.

The main event will be co-hosted by Shepard Smith and Martha MacCallum from Buckingham Palace on Friday April 29^th beginning at 4 AM/ET.

On the wedding day, Shepard Smith and Martha MacCallum will be joined by Gretchen Carlson and Jonathan Hunt reporting live from Westminster Abbey, while Happening Now co-anchors Jenna Lee and Jon Scott will provide analysis from New York. Event coverage will run commercial-free from 5:30-8 AM/ET. Additionally, Royal experts providing commentary throughout include: former Royal butler Paul Burrell; Christopher Anderson, author of William and Kate: A Royal Love Story; and former Good Morning America host Joan Lunden, who covered the wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana in 1981. During primetime hours, FNC will highlight special moments from the ceremony and the day’s events.

Additional FNC coverage plans for the week of the Royal Wedding include:

· On Sunday April 24^th, FNC will present a one-hour special primetime documentary, Countdown to the Royal Wedding at 9 PM/ET. Fox News Gives Scant Coverage to Jobs Data

Andrew Newbold of Media Matters for America writes that the reporting by Fox News of the jobs data released by the government on Friday should have been better and longer.

Newbold writes, “Yet tonight on Your World, guest host Stewart Varney ignored the job report for more than 56 minutes. Then, just before the show’s last commercial break, he said: ‘The economy adding jobs. A positive report today, a game changer in this budget battle fight. Is it?’

“When he came back from commercial, Varney said: ‘You are looking live at the Capitol building, Washington, DC. Democrats say today’s good job numbers prove that this is no time to cut spending, but is it just the opposite? That’s what we’re going to explore tonight on the Fox Business Network one hour from now.’

“That’s it. Varney spent less than thirty seconds discussing the new job numbers. Furthermore, Varney invited viewers to learn about the job figures under the Obama administration later on Fox Business Channel.”

Fox News Channel Bolsters Japan Quake Aftermath Coverage

On Sunday, Fox News Channel bolstered its coverage of the aftermath of the devestating earthquake and tsunami in Japan, and has sent Shepard Smith to Tokyo.

Across its programming on Sunday, Fox News had Greg Palkot and Adam Housely reporting live from Shimoda, and David Piper reporting in Tokyo.

The network aired an extended edition of the Fox Report, which broadcast for two hours, and an extended live edition of Geraldo at Large.

On Monday, Shepard Smith is expected to be on location in Tokyo to present his Studio B and Fox Report programs live from the region.
In addition, Fox News will be covering the developing nuclear crisis at the Fukushima nuclear power plant, along with continuing coverage of the quake aftermath through its other programming on Monday.

Greg Palkot Returns to Air after being Attacked in Egypt

Fox News reporter Greg Palkot has returned to the air for the first time since being attacked during the Egyptian uprising.

Sent straight out on assignment, Palkot is currently in Japan reporting on the aftermath of the devestating earthquake which generated a terrifying Tsunami and a nuclear crisis which is still playing out.

Palkot is reporting live for Fox News from Oarai, and will be contributing to the network throughout their reporting from the region.

On Sunday, Fox' Sunday talk show, Fox News Sunday will be featuring an additional interview with the Nuclear Safety Expert, Joe Cirincione, discussing the latest developments on the nuclear crisis that is developing in Japan.

Fox News Did its Best During Japan Quake

Rather than flat out news reporting, as is expected from a 'news channel', Fox News provided coverage of the disaster and applauded itself for pre-empting Glenn Beck.

Based on the circumstances, that would be a given, but to be fair to Fox News, FNC did break into overnight programming at 1:09 am et to report that the earthquake had hit and went on to provide continuing coverage with what staff it had on hand.

‘Fox and Friends’ the following morning had wall-to-wall coverage of the tsunamis and the earthquake including its aftermath, and started an hour earlier than normal, (5am instead of 6am) to cover the disasters as they unfolded.

Shepard Smith presented a special report in place of the normal Glenn Beck show, and overnight, an anchor team of Marianne Rafferty and Rick Folbaum were in place to cover the news starting at 11 PM ET after On the Record and Hannity which were both 'live as always and focused on Japan'.

On Saturday, FNC had coverage from around the region with reporters arriving in the region including David Piper, and Adam Housley. Neil Cavuto aired a special programme looking at the effects of the catastrophe between 10am and 12et.

In terms of a news channel, Fox News has been below par on this story, and this isn't the first time. A major situation has developed in Japan, not only with the quake and the following disasterous tsunami, but also the nuclear fallout that is continuing.

Fox News Dominates State of the Union Coverage

Fox News Channel was the dominant news network in cable last night during President Obama’s second State of the Union Address.

FNC averaged 5 million viewers for the address, beating all cable news nets in every category. All ratings are according to Nielsen Media Research.

Fox News Confirms Florida Republican Presidential Debate

Fox News and the Republican Party of Florida have jointly announced that they will present a presidential debate, which is expected to attract the top 2012 Republican contenders for President of the United States.

The debate is scheduled for October 2011 at an Orlando location to be determined and will be presented live and exclusively on FOX News Channel (FNC), FOX News Radio, FOX News Mobile and FOXNews.com.

In making the announcement, FOX News’ Senior Vice President of News Editorial Michael Clemente said, “Fox News is looking forward to producing more of these critical debates, which ultimately help voters make the most informed decisions during the 2012 election cycle.
