Romance is a difficult topic. Some things are romantic, but only at certain times, and some things generally aren’t, but quickly become so randomly. Understanding how to be romantic means understanding your partner and what they really want. It is important to remember that men and women experience things differently and do not always react in the same way to things. Whilst a romantic evening for a man can mainly involve sexy lingerie, for a woman it needs to be a sensual process which is executed smoothly. Here are some tips on how to understand what your partner needs:

Listen

The most important part of romance is listening to your partner. This is not because listening is romantic (although it often is); it is because you need to understand what your partner wants. Think back and you will certainly be able to recall times when your partner has said ‘how romantic’, ‘that’s my favourite’, or ‘I’d love to do that’. This is a woman’s way of telling you how to woo them. Listen to what their favourite fresh flowers are and buy them for them, listen to what they found romantic and do it.

Plan

A huge part of romance for a woman is that everything goes smoothly. If a meal is great but the taxi doesn’t show up then this will put a dampener on the evening and reduce its impact. Making plans is also a great way to assert yourself. Women like men who are confident and in charge so be sure to make it clear that you are. Arranging an evening of events and taking them along with you will make a woman trust in your judgement and appreciate your effort. Remember though, that you need your plan to fit into the plan your partner has subconsciously crafted by telling you what to do!

Execute

The execution of an evening relies on you being relaxed and enjoying yourself. Do not set out a plan and a schedule verbally at the start of the date; just quietly guide your date through the evening. By coming across as relaxed, whilst also executing your romantic plan successfully, you will be understood as being in control of things around you. This is a very important element of romantic evenings because women love a confident man.

Dress to impress
The final ingredient to romance is dressing well and properly. You will undoubtedly be given the same treatment by your partner so be sure to get dressed up and to look the part. Be sure to compliment your date on how they look when they arrive because you will be expected to notice their effort too. Woman are attracted to men in smart clothes but be sure to draw the line between businesslike and smart because you do not want to come across too serious on a date. Another key aspect is to smell good. Women find men in decent men’s fragrances and attractive scents far more attractive than those who do not utilise it. This is a very simple way to improve your chances.

The key to successfully being romantic is to give your partner the things which they really want. Listen to what they say and what they discuss because they will literally tell you what they want without actually saying it directly. This is their way of giving you a hand without having to ask for a date and allows you to remain in charge and full of confidence.

It’s natural for most wakeboarding beginners to favour their heelside; the toeside takes a lot more practice. As a beginner at this sport, it’s impossible to avoid falling, and we feel a lot more comfortable falling backwards than forwards onto our faces. However, if you put enough practice into riding toeside, you’ll open yourself to a whole new side of wakeboarding. If you love spending your holidays trying out new water sports, make sure that you have travel insurance that covers them. That way you can get into trying new techniques full-steam, without being distracted by whether you chose the best travel insurance on offer. In this article, we’ll show you how to improve your toeside tricks.

Learn the Correct Toeside Position

In order to master toeside tricks, you must learn the proper position. Start by standing nice and tall, with your chest pointing upwards, your arms straight but relaxed. Keep the handle close to your hips, too, but push it down to your front hip; this has the effect of centering the pull on your body. Make sure you don’t let the handle move too high, as this will have the effect of shifting your upper body. Essentially, around 90 per cent of the pull should be in your back arm. If you feel your back bicep pushing up against your back pec, then you’ve got the position on lock.

A Toeside Exercise

Here’s an exercise you can try in order to improve your toeside technique. When completing this drill, keep in mind that a properly executed wake jump is all about keeping up the direction and momentum. And now for the exercise…

Start by slowing the boat to about 30 kph with the rope at about 20 metres. This will give you a large landing area.

Use a progressive edge to perform a one-wake jump with an approach on your wakeboard of about five feet. At the beginning, the edge should be nice and easy, but you can slowly increase the angle into the wake by taking a harder edge.

When you reach the wake, the handle takes control of the pop. Remember to keep the handle low and it will pull you up and across. Remember to keep two hands on the handle at least to the peak of your jumps. You shouldn’t be trying any grabs until you’re confident with the toeside wake jump anyway.

Always keep your eyes on where you want to go, ideally a few metres ahead of you at all times. When you land, continue riding, keeping your speed until you’re a few metres past the wake. Then, if you feel ready next time, try going a little bit further by lengthening your approach, no more than a couple of metres at a time.

Safety procedures are often a continuous frustrating element of every business. They seem to slow down every process, create endless piles of paperwork, and generally end up being an expensive exercise for the company. There is no doubt, however, that safety is essential within any business. Cutting corners may seem like a good idea in the short-term but in the long game of business, it can end up ruining everything you have worked for. This article considers the dangers of cutting safety regulatory corners.

Preventing Injuries

One of the main reasons why safety is so important is not a financial but a moral one. Ensuring that no one gets hurt whilst in your duty of care is a part of your moral obligation as a business owner or manager. If you are regularly putting someone in your work place in danger through negligence then it is likely that at some point a life changing accident could take place, which could be very costly to your business as well.

Protecting Business

Any injuries or damages that take place at work will have a direct effect upon you as the owner or manager of a business. An injury will initially slow down processes while necessary safety audits and repairs are made. In addition to this, it is likely that you will find yourself with a compensation claim made against the company if you are unable to demonstrate that the correct safety procedures for prevention were in place. Protecting the safety of your staff is as much a system to protect your company, as it is a way to prevent injury.

Ensuring Financial Security

The largest cost associated with the injury of a staff member is that of compensation. Most importantly, the company needs to have proper insurances in place in the event that a compensation claim is filed against the company. Insurance premiums are an ongoing relatively high cost, which in many cases will impact profits made by a company. These premiums are, however, a necessary expenditure.

It is possible to become a self insurer to protect yourself from the costs of premiums though this process is one which needs to be approached carefully. Self insurance means that the company itself takes on the risks of any compensation claims from staff members. The fund sits within the company and is managed internally, which means all responsibility rests with the company owners. This structure does not require the company to pay an insurance premium, it merely has to put funds aside in the event of a compensation claim. This also allows companies to increase their assets over time, however, running the risk that large payouts will have to be made in the event of an accident.

Safety Record

Having a good safety record is simply good for business in every way. Employees look to work in a safe, tidy and hygienic environment. By taking efforts to keeping the workplace safe, you will likely improve employee satisfaction. Having a good safety record will also help you to obtain contracts with larger companies, who do not want their name associated with workplace accidents.

From the perspective of humans, exercise is something that is directly related to health and wellness, but from the canine perspective, it has a significant effect on behaviour as well. Dogs – especially puppies and young dogs – have a lot of energy, and if they don’t have regular opportunities to burn it off, then that excess energy is often channelled through destructive behaviour. If you are annoyed with your dog about the multiple holes dug up in your garden or the pillows that have been reduced to a pile of fluff, then you need to ask yourself whether or not your dog is getting enough exercise. The amount of playtime your dog requires to stay healthy and happy is dependent on a lot of different factors:

Age

Although each individual dog is unique in how much exercise they need, you can generally expect that your young dog or puppy will need an excessive amount. To ensure a happy pooch that will sleep through the night, you will probably have to walk your puppy at least three times during the day for 20-30 minutes each time, take them outside once every couple of hours for bathroom needs, and fill in the gaps with a lot of playing at home. Keeping your puppy healthy right from the start will lower your pet insurance costs, and increase the likelihood that your dog will behave well in subsequent years. Taking your puppy outside for training or to puppy training school also counts as exercise since she will be active and engaged in play with other puppies.

When it comes to older pooches, you will just have to observe them and discern how much exercise they need based on how tired they are during and after walks. If your dog seems to be lagging behind or panting heavily, then these are signs that the walk has gone on too long. Although they still like to get outside frequently, you can make the walks shorter than they used to be, and get suitable pet insurance for older dogs.

Breed

How much exercise your dog needs doesn’t so much depend on size, but is rather governed by breed. Some breeds simply don’t need much exercise at all, while others, such as border collies, huskies and greyhounds need tremendous amounts. Pugs, bulldogs, Boston terriers, and basically any breed that has a compressed face, generally don’t need as much exercise as other breeds – in fact, you could be putting their health at risk by forcing them into too much activity. If you have a small dog, don’t assume that it gets enough exercise inside the home, as many small breeds have an equal amount of energy to large dogs, if not more.

Health

Too much of a good thing can have negative consequences for dogs with pre-existing musculoskeletal problems, such as hip or elbow arthritis, joint pain, spinal problems, or obesity issues. Dogs with these issues shouldn’t be forced into exercising, so you will have to try and clue in on their needs by observing their behaviour. Of course, giving your dog an appropriate amount of exercise to begin with can prevent many of these problems!

Life insurance is something about which there is a lot of divided opinion. Some people think that it is absolutely essential and others consider it to be just a waste of money. This article looks at life insurance, its benefits, and the alternatives.

Life insurance

The benefit of life insurance is that it provides a security net for your family. It means that if you pass away unexpectedly, then your family will be protected in the income that they will have to play with and will be able to maintain a similar level of lifestyle as during your life.

Such insurance is often used to pay off the mortgage on a family home or to set money aside for the education of children. This enables an easing of the burden on the remaining provider for the family and ensures that there is a roof over the heads of your family.

Life insurance quotes vary in what they offer and at what cost. There is, however, one thing that remains consistent in the fact that prices are lower for healthier people. The younger and the healthier you are when you apply for life insurance, the better placed you will be to get a good premium.

Many younger people put off applying for insurance until they are older and this can actually end up costing them more in the long run. If you leave applying too late then you won’t even be eligible for cover. If you are intending to get insurance to cover your family then starting earlier is far better in terms of finances.

Investing

Making investments is another way to protect your family in the future. If you are able to create a system of wealth large enough then this will easily protect your family from hardship if you should happen to pass away.

Investing in property, for example, can allow you to create a system whereby you will be able to generate rent each month and this will allow you to create an income separate from your wage. Having such an income can amply protect your family and negate the need for insurance. Similarly, investing in stocks or shares can generate a large amount of wealth which will be able to support your family even after your death. Investing is a great way to improve your position whilst you are alive and also protect those whom you leave behind after your death.

Savings

Generating large savings is another good way in which to protect your family after death. If you can generate enough savings then this will act like an insurance policy because you can restrict access to the fund, unless you pass away and it is needed. When making savings it is important to ensure that they are placed into high interest accounts so that you can make the most of them.

Using ISA accounts and other high interest bond accounts is a great way to ensure that your savings are growing quickly and will be enough to support your family when they ware needed.

Your study may be getting a little out of date or you have children who need to use it too. This is a great opportunity to completely redesign your study. The keys are to create a warm and inviting work environment that is free of clutter, functional and has plenty of storage for everything from pens to text books. Don’t be scared to add your own unique style either, such as a pot plant, to enhance the aesthetics.

Colour

Colour plays a big part in creating the mood of the room. Not all colours suit all rooms and that is particularly the case with a study. When it comes to the walls, choose neutral or warm tones. Light blues and greens also work well, but don’t go too bold with them.

Avoid red (it invokes excitement and increases energy levels) and yellow (it can cause feelings of frustration and anger).

When it comes to furniture, white usually fits in best. Beech-coloured furniture is also popular because of its neutral tone. While neutral works best, there is no harm in adding a splash of colour to add your own personal style. Consider some accessories, such as a lamp, rubbish bin and desk trays, all in one colour such as a bold red.

Storage

To keep your study functional you need to reduce the clutter. You also need to have everything within easy reach. Consider a lockable filing cabinet for your more sensitive documents that fits under the desk. You will also want a storage cabinet where books, files and other items can be kept out of sight. There are plenty of options but sometimes the tall cabinets can take up valuable space. Consider a cabinet that is only half the height – it then gives you another surface on which to place other items.

Shelving is also a great way to store and display items. They are simple to install and come in a wide range of sizes and colours. Install them over the desk to create a professional feel or on a wall where they can also act as a design feature. Make sure the colour fits in with the rest of the furniture. Get some funky stationary holders for your desk as well. Not only do they look good but they keep all of your pens, pencils and other items tidy and within easy reach.

Consider your computer

Everyone has a computer these days and they can take up a lot of space in the study. Consider your desk space and don’t overwhelm it with electronics. Place the computer box under the desk to save valuable room. Get a monitor that is an appropriate size – the same goes for peripherals such as printers. They can be bulky so consider their position carefully. Use a wireless keyboard and mouse as well to save on unsightly cables. If you do have a lot of cables, there is a wide range of cable ties that can manage them much better. Even better, use a laptop which takes up much less room and doesn’t need as many peripherals.

Desk and chair

A good desk is the cornerstone of a functional study. They vary widely in cost, style, colour and features. You need to make sure you get the desk that fits your room and needs the best. Measure your room before buying a new desk to make sure it will fit. Keep it within the colour scheme of the entire study. Most of all, ensure it is sturdy and has enough room for you to work.

Don’t ignore the chair either. It should be comfortable and supportive. Make sure it is on wheels and can be easily adjusted. Consider getting a chair mat that will allow it to roll about more easily. It will also protect your floor coverings.

When you look at other business’s websites do you notice any problems that you don’t want associated with your business? Perhaps it is the copywriting on the site not being up to scratch or even a completely hopeless web design that isn’t functional. Whatever it is, we can all learn from other businesses online and other technology mistakes.

Not doing your background research (especially on competitors) can mean you are missing out on opportunities. It can also mean that you are falling behind the rest of your industry in terms of best practices and technology usage. This could be something basic like backing up on cloud computing services or not using the best software for improving productivity.

Missing Out on Opportunities

If anything is to be learnt from many traditional retail businesses it is the dangers of missing the boat on new opportunities. With retail businesses failing the online commerce sector is booming and while it is not completely replacing the lost revenue it could have saved many businesses. But how can you really recognise any future developments?

Well, the best way to do this is to be open to new ideas and processes. If you are at least trialling new things you will know if they are working or not. This is especially true for low investment opportunities such as online stores.

Not Investing Enough

You might also have noticed that many businesses make the right moves but do not back it up with the right investment. The old saying that you have to spend money to make money is true enough and this is especially pertinent in relation to IT. If you have a great online store but are not investing in marketing properly you may as well not have an online store.

Just because something is new and IT related does not mean that the same rules for investment do not apply. However, it is also possible to have a lot of wastage in terms of IT.

Wasting Time Online

There has been a lot of talk in the last decade about investing time in IT, especially in relation to the Internet. However, some of these views are changing and for some businesses, IT is a bit of a waste of time. This is not to belittle its influence but to understand when computer use really isn’t needed.

Many tradesmen actually complain about computers taking up too much of their time when they just want to do their actual job according to their qualification, not answer emails all day.

This is best demonstrated by social media and the amount of lost hours there are due to workers and companies using it. This would be fine if there was a return on investment valuable enough to warrant such a move, however, it is easier to employ others to do this for you while you concentrate on your core business.

Messing Up New Strategies

While it is important to keep experimenting and trying new strategies, you will also have to make sure you don’t make a mess of your IT. Be careful with online strategies especially, because anything you do online may linger for longer than you think!

Protecting your home with alarm systems is something that we all do to protect ourselves from fire and theft. It is a constant worry that your home will become victim of a burglary or a fire, so it is important to protect your property wherever possible. The simple systems that we all have are often not enough to protect your home from theft or fire. This article will consider some of the steps you can take to prevent both fire and burglary affecting your home.

Fire

Get your wiring checked to ensure there are no fire hazards. Electrical failure is one of the biggest causes of fires, so it is important to ensure your home’s wiring is up to standard. It is also important not to overload the circuits by drawing too much electricity out with extension cords. Overloading an extension cord can cause it to overheat. This can also occur where long extension cords are left coiled whilst in use.

Keep fire starters out of reach of children. Children are inquisitive and do not understand the dangers of fire. They are often both the cause and the victim of fires so it is essential to prevent them from being able to start a fire in the first place.

Under no circumstances should you leave cooking unattended. If you are leaving the room for just a minute then turn the gas off for just a minute; it won’t make a difference to your food but it could save your life.

Install fire alarms on every floor so that you are quickly alerted to the outbreak of a fire. The earlier the warning you get, the more of your house can be saved and the easier it will be to escape.

Never leave materials either on a radiator or near an open fire. Using fires and heaters to dry your clothes is a very dangerous practice which is entirely unnecessary.

Theft

Always have a lamp on a timer switch so that, even when you are away, it appears as though someone is home. One of the easiest ways to deter burglars is to make them think someone is at home. No burglar wants to get caught so they will target an obviously empty house instead.

Draw your curtains when you are out, no matter what time of day it is. By drawing your curtains you prevent people from being able to see into the house to identify possessions that are worth taking.

Place a flashing LED light in a window. Whilst this may sound silly, burglars are intimidated by any suggestion of alarms. If you have a not-so-obvious alarm or no alarm at all, then a flashing red LED light will make the thieves believe that you do.

Invest in safety glass. One of the easiest ways into any house is through an old single-pane window. Investing in security windows will make it near impossible for thieves to get through your windows undetected.

Always lock the doors when you are in or out of the house. Many burglaries take place as snatch and grab offences when someone has a sudden opportunity to steal something. Leaving a door open momentarily or leaving a back door unlocked whilst you watch TV could allow someone to grab your car keys and wallet.

Australia really is a lucky country, although when it comes to the awesome education system here, it’s all thanks to hard work and dedication. If you or your children are lucky enough to get your education down here, you are sure to be treated to some of the best quality, modern and comprehensive education you could find anywhere. The following are five of the best things about Australia’s education system.

Top Quality

The teaching standard in Australia is extremely high, right across the board, so whether you are talking about primary school, high school or post secondary education, the quality of education in Australia is up there with the best in the world. Where once teachers were grade 9 students plucked from the class and given authority over their peers, nowadays the training process for teachers is both thorough and intense, with the result being some of the world’s best educators.

Modern

Being a wealthy first world country, Australia’s education system is equipped with all of the latest in educational resources and teaching tools, meaning students here are able to take advantage of the latest in modern learning. Obviously there is a significant difference between state and private schools, with the private schools far better supplied, though overall, the education industry is very modern here and therefore provides a big advantage to its students.

Active

Australia is a very active country. This is reflected in the education system with a big focus on fitness, health, and sport forming a major part of all levels of schooling. Australian schools realise that it is important that their students are active, as this helps their overall development and leads to higher quality learning. Sport is also seen as a great training ground for mateship, leadership and teamwork skills. Kids here often outperform their equivalents in other countries, both in academia and sport; so if you are looking for a place to exercise your brain as well as your body, try Australia.

Respected

Regardless of the level of schooling, it is always important that the institution you or your child graduates from, is respected by other places where you may want to apply at later on. Australian schools are highly respected throughout the world, so whether you are wanting to do an exchange to another university overseas, or you are moving and need to get your child accepted by a school in another country, the great reputation of the education system here will make life way easier for you. This is a huge bonus as it can often save you having to retake a class or repeat a year, saving you time and money.

Multicultural

One of the real highlights of the education system in Australia is that it comprises people from all over the world, both in terms of teachers and students. Multiculturalism is firmly embedded in most education curriculum here, whether it be primary school history or hotel school cooking, making for a well rounded education involving multiple different cultural perspectives.

Giving without thinking is a very uncommon trait in human beings. And yet, giving without thinking can also make us better people and help us to find more rewarding things in life. So how can you start to give more to your family and your community?

Be Proactive, Give First

Part of the art of giving, is to give first, without being asked to do so and without it being in return for a favour. Being proactive in your giving could mean helping your child with their homework, before they even asked you or by volunteering your time at a local church, community group, hospital or retirement village.

Ask For Nothing in Return

Giving should be a selfless act – and so when you give, you should neither ask for anything in return, nor expect it. Instead, think about what you yourself got from the ‘giving’ experience. Should someone give you a gift basket or a thank you card in return for your help, however, accept it graciously and think about how you might use the gift to give once again.

Pay It Forward

Part of being giving and open-minded is also about ‘paying it forward.’ If someone does something nice for you, you repay the favour by doing something nice for someone else. Alternatively, if you do a favour for someone – ask him or her to show their appreciation by conducting a similar action for another person. You’ll be surprised how fast it catches on!

Help Those in Need

The art of giving is also about helping those in need. This could be as simple as helping an elderly woman carry her shopping bags or as extravagant as donating money to a charity. Helping those in need can also be lots of fun. Volunteering at a hospital can put a smile on the face of some that are struggling with their health in the long or short term. If you are the creative type, you could design some Christmas cards for charity, and perhaps even get some assistance from your kids on different designs.

Believe in Someone

Believing in someone is a huge part of giving, because it means you inspire, love and give this special person the motivation they need to succeed. You might believe in your partner, your child, a friend or a work colleague – whoever it is, be open and encouraging and support them in their passions and endeavours.

Give Blood

Giving blood is something that only a few Australians do each year. The Red Cross Blood Bank, however, is always looking for more donors. If you don’t donate blood, consider whether you should. This is an incredibly selfless act, where your donations go directly to those in life-critical situations, whether it’s for a complete stranger or someone you know.

Give Forgiveness

Forgiveness is one of the greatest gifts you can give to someone. It’s easy and often quite natural to remain angry, hold grudges or sulk about certain things – but forgiving someone can help you become a much more giving person, especially in relation to your friends and family. While you shouldn’t just brush things under the carpet or turn into a “push over,” forgiving those that are close to you is the most rewarding gift of all.
