HEDA, the Human And Environmental Development Agenda, has called on the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to investigate the claim by five oil producing communities in Delta State and their leaders who shut down the National Assembly in protest last month that the Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke and Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) limited are involved in a N58.9 trillion shady oil.

The claim was made on April 26 by the Itsekiri Ethnic Nationality (led by Chief Emami Ayiri), Ijaw Ethnic Nationality (led by Chief Aribogha Johnny) Urhobo Ethnic Nationality (Olorogun Jaro Egbo), Isoko Ethnic Nationality (Zino Onaemor) and Ndokwa Ethnic Nationality (Emmanuel Orwti).

“The communities accused the minister of having secretly transferred production rights in four large oil blocks (OMLs 26, 30, 34, and 42) to Atlantic Energy Drilling Concept Limited (Atlantic Energy) allegedly owned by one Mr. Jide Omokore,” HEDA said in its letter to the Commission signed by its chairman, Olanrewaju Suraju, drawing attention to a report in sunnewsonline.com.

“According to the report, Mr. Jide Omokore’s Atlantic Energy Drilling Concept Limited neither tendered for, nor bided for the blocks. The petition alleged that on the above named OML, the minister entertained no bid under the guise of a “Strategic Alliance Agreement” that earned the federation account a little more than $50 million as initial entrance fee from Atlantic energy. The petition further added that if the open and competitive bidding process mandated by Public Procurement Act had been followed, the market value of the OML 30 assets divested to Atlantic Energy should not be any less than $800 million.”

HEDA recalled that the oil industry, especially the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, has been plagued for years by accusations of corruption and fraudulent dealings.

“This has led to misappropriation of revenue earned from oil production, consequently leading to under development and widespread poverty in the nation, not to mention injustice to the indigenes of the Niger Delta,” HEDA said.

It argued that the state, over time, failed to ensure the exercise of the right to development of the communities in the Niger-delta which has led to such consequences evidenced in the rise of militancy in the region to which the government has lost billions of Naira in revenue.

“The duty to ensure exercise of the right to development is one given to the state by virtue of Article 22(2) of the African Charter on Human and People’s Rights,” HEDA said, calling on the NHRC to use the powers available to it to investigate these allegations and make appropriate recommendation(s) to the Federal government for the revocation, prosecution and such other actions as it may deem expedient.

Idele Edith, an Auchi polytechnic student, yesterday was killed as a result of an electric pole falling on her body in the school premises. According to the report; the girl celebrated her birthday the day the incident happened in her residence. After being struck by the pole, she was rushed to the nearby hospital where the doctor confirmed that she had given up the ghost.

Idele Edith was known by her peers as a dedicated student in her class. the unfortunate incident has caused a lot of commotion, pains and distraction among her lovely class members and most of all, to her family.

Lagos, Nigeria (CNN) — At least 20 insurgents were killed Friday as Nigeria’s military carried out an aerial bombardment of suspected militant Islamist camps in the country’s northeast, a Defense Ministry spokesman said.

The raid by Nigerian Air Force jets and attack helicopters is part of what the military says is a “massive deployment” of Nigerian forces this week to tackle insurgent groups, including Boko Haram.

“Our military has overrun a number of the militants’ camps in north and central Borno state,” said defense spokesman Brig. Gen. Chris Olukolade.

“Within those insurgents’ camps, we discovered that they have been storing sophisticated, high-caliber weapons including anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons.”

Asked if the military had inflicted any casualties on the insurgents, Olukolade said, “definitely so. Conservatively speaking, over 20 dead so far.”

Members of the armed forces have suffered only minor injuries, according to Olukolade.

“The operation continues, we are injecting even more troops and resources into those areas,” he added.

The military operation was announced Wednesday, a day after President Goodluck Jonathan declared a state of emergency in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states.

The president blamed “terrorists” aimed at “rebellion” who have caused “fear among our citizens and a near breakdown of law and order in parts of the country.”

He also noted a rise of insurgent violence in eight other states, including Nasarawa, where scores of police officers were killed last week.

“Insurgents and terrorists,” including Boko Haram, are trying to destabilize Nigeria, Jonathan said.

“The military operation will focus on tracking down criminal elements within the vicinity of border communities prone to terrorist activities,” Olukolade said Wednesday.

He did not confirm the number of troops deployed or which units are involved in the military operation.

Much violence over recent years has been blamed on Boko Haram, whose name means “Western education is sacrilege.”

According to Human Rights Watch, the group has killed more than 2,800 people in an escalating campaign to impose strict Islamic law on largely Muslim northern Nigeria.

Nigeria is Africa’s most populous country, with a population of nearly 175 million according to the CIA World Factbook, and is the political and economic powerhouse of West Africa.

Angelina Jolie’s announcement of undergoing a double mastectomy (surgically removing both breasts) even though she had no breast cancer is not the innocent, spontaneous, “heroic choice” that has been portrayed in the mainstream media. Natural News has learned it all coincides with a well-timed for-profit corporate P.R. campaign that has been planned for months and just happens to coincide with the upcoming U.S. Supreme Court decision on the viability of the BRCA1 patent.

This is the investigation the mainstream media refuses to touch. Here, I explain the corporate financial ties, investors, mergers, human gene patents, lawsuits, medical fear mongering and the trillionsof dollars that are at stake here. If you pull back the curtain on this one, you find far more than an innocent looking woman exercising a “choice.” This is about protecting trillions in profits through the deployment of carefully-crafted public relations campaigns designed to manipulate the public opinion of women.

The signs were all there from the beginning of the scheme: Angelina Jolie’s highly polished and obviously corporate-written op-ed piece at the New York Times, the carefully-crafted talking points invoking “choice” as a politically-charged keyword, and the obvious coaching of even her husband Brad Pitt who carefully describes the entire experience using words like “stronger” and “pride” and “family.”

But the smoking gun is the fact that Angelina Jolie’s seemingly spontaneous announcement magically appeared on the cover of People Magazine this week — a magazine that is usually finalized for publication three weeksbefore it appears on newsstands. That cover, not surprisingly, uses the same language found in the NYT op-ed piece: “HER BRAVE CHOICE” and “This was the right thing to do.” The flowery, pro-choice language is not a coincidence.

What this proves is that Angelina’s Jolie’s announcement was a well-planned corporate P.R. campaignwith carefully-crafted messages designed to influence public opinion. But what could Jolie be seeking to influence?

…how about trillions of dollars in corporate profits?

Upcoming U.S. Supreme Court decision to rule on patent viability for BRCA1 gene

Angelina Jolie’s announcement and all its carefully-crafted language had four notable immediate impacts:

1) It caused women everywhere to be terrified of breast cancer through the publishing of false statistics that drove fear into the hearts of anyone with breasts. (See below for explanation.)

2) It caused women to rush out and seek BRCA1 gene testing procedures. These tests just happen to be patented by a for-profit corporation called “Myriad Genetics.” Because of this patent, BRCA1 tests can cost $3,000 – $4,000 each. The testing alone is a multi-billion-dollar market, but only if the patent is upheld in an upcoming Supreme Court decision (see below).

3) It caused the stock price of Myriad Genetics (MYGN) to skyrocket to a 52-week high. “Myriad’s stock closed up 3% Tuesday, following the publication of the New York Times op-ed,” wroteMarketwatch.com.

4) It drove public opinion to influence the upcoming U.S. Supreme Court decision to rule in favor of corporate ownership of human genes (see more below).

Women all over the world are being duped into supporting Angeline Jolie, having no idea that what she’s really doing is selling out women to the for-profit cancer industry. But to fully understand what’s happening, you have to dig deeper…

Myriad Genetics sees stock price skyrocket thanks to Jolie, and Obamacare will funnel billions their way

“Salt Lake City-based Myriad Genetics (MYGN) holds the patent on the test that determined the actress had an 87% chance of developing breast cancer, as well as the genes themselves,” wrote MarketWatch.com.

And that’s only the beginning. If the U.S. Supreme Court can be influenced to uphold Myriad’s patent, it could mean a trillion-dollar industry over just the next few years. Even more, Myriad Genetics is reportedly “ripe for mergers” according to the financial press, because it’s part of the super-hot human genome industry.

“The world’s largest maker of DNA testing and analysis tools, Life Technologies Corp. said that it is set to be acquired by Thermo Fisher Scientific for a record $13.6 billion,” writes MarketWatch.com. “A race that kicked into high gear more than 26 years ago is heating up, with foreign governments and corporations joining the U.S. in funding the quest to map all the human genomes. And even as the recent flurry of mergers and acquisitions in the genomics space has spurred returns, investors still have opportunities to profit from this multibillion-dollar industry.”

The higher Myriad’s stock price goes, the more profitable a merger becomes for its current owners. So Jolie’s P.R. stunt just happened to generate unknown millions of dollars in value for the very people who claim a patent monopoly over the breast cancer genes residing in the bodies of women. Coincidence? Hardly.

Obamacare mandates taxpayers pay for BRCA gene testing: yet another government handout to wealthy corporations

But here’s what’s even more crooked about all this: You know how Obama likes to talk “free market” but actually engages in so-called “crony capitalism” by handing out money to all his corporate buddies, Wall Street insiders and deep-pocketed campaign donors? Part of Obamacare — the “Affordable Care Act” — mandates that taxpayers pay for BRCA1 genetic testing!

Myriad Genetics, in other words, stands to receive a full-scale windfall of profits mandated by government and pushed into mainstream consciousness through a campaign of “medical terror” fronted by Angelina Jolie and the New York Times. Are you starting to see how this all fits together yet?

This is all one big coordinated corporate sellout of women, and it’s all being hidden by playing the “women’s power” card and using “choice” language to more easily manipulate women. Angelina Jolie, remember, is a key spokesperson for the United Nations, an organization already caught engaged in child sex slavery and drug running. Although Jolie obviously isn’t engage in that sort of behavior, her job is to covertly influence American women into supporting a carefully-planned, plotted and executed corporate profit campaign that turns women’s bodies into profits.

Here’s why the Supreme Court decision puts trillions of dollars at stake…

Details on the upcoming Supreme Court decision

The ACLU and the Public Patent Foundation filed a lawsuit in 2009, challenging the corporate ownership of human genes. Anyone who believes in women’s rights, human rights, civil rights or even the right to eat non-GMO foods should immediately agree that corporations should NOT be able to patent human genes and then use those patents to rake in billions of dollars in profits while stifling scientific research into those genes.

A question to all women reading this: Do you believe a corporation in Utah owns your body? If not, you should be opposed to corporate ownership of human genes. It also means you should oppose Angelina Jolie’s P.R. campaign because although she’s running a brilliant public relations campaign, behind the scenes her actions are feeding potentially trillions of dollars of profits directly into the for-profit human gene patenting industry that denies human beings ownership over their own genetic code.

The ACLU explains the basics of its lawsuit against Myriad Genetics as follows:

On May 12, 2009, the ACLU and the Public Patent Foundation (PUBPAT) filed a lawsuit charging that patents on two human genes associated with breast and ovarian cancer, BRCA1 and BRCA2, are unconstitutional and invalid. On November 30, 2012, the Supreme Court agreed to hear argument on the patentability of human genes. The ACLU argued the case before the U.S. Supreme Court on April 15, 2013. We expect a decision this summer.

On behalf of researchers, genetic counselors, women patients, cancer survivors, breast cancer and women’s health groups, and scientific associations representing 150,000 geneticists, pathologists, and laboratory professionals, we have argued that human genes cannot be patented because they are classic products of nature. The suit charges that the gene patents violate the First Amendment and stifle diagnostic testing and research that could lead to cures and that they limit women’s options regarding their medical care.

Got that? If the Supreme Court rules against Myriad Genetics, it will cause a multi-billion-dollar breast cancer genetic testing industry to collapse virtually overnight. This means a huge loss for not just Myriad, but also many other human gene corporations that wish to exploit the human body — including the bodies of women — for monopolistic profits. (All patents are government-granted monopolies.) Ultimately, trillions of dollars in corporate gene patents are at stake here.

Patenting human genes is huge business

Today, about 20 percent of your genes are already patented by corporations and universities. As the ACLU explains, “A gene patent holder has the right to prevent anyone from studying, testing or even looking at a gene. As a result, scientific research and genetic testing has been delayed, limited or even shut down due to concerns about gene patents.”

This means that when corporations own patents on human genes, it stifles scientific research while granting that corporation a monopoly over the “intellectual property” encoded in your own DNA! (How criminal is that? You decide…)

What this means is that if the Supreme Court rules against Myriad, it would set a precedent that would dismantle the entire human gene patenting industry, affecting trillions of dollars in future profits.

This, I believe, is the real reason behind Angelina Jolie’s announcement. It seems designed to invoke women’s emotional reactions and create a groundswell of support for corporate-owned genes, thereby handing these corporations a Supreme Court precedent that will ensure trillions in future profits. It’s a for-profit PR stunt that tries to trick women into supporting a corporate system of patents and monopolies that claims, right now, to own portions of the bodies of every woman living today.

While most media outlets have no clue about the patent issues at stake here, theDetroit Free Presstook notice, saying:

“The Hollywood star’s decision to get tested for a breast cancer gene mutation, undergo a double mastectomy and then write about it calls attention to a case now pending before the court. The justices have just weeks to decide if Myriad Genetics’ patent on the two genes that can identify an increased risk of breast and ovarian cancer is legal. Critics complain that the company’s monopoly leaves them as the sole source of the $4,000 tests needed to determine each woman’s risk.”

Lying with statistics: Jolie’s 87% risk exaggeration

There’s more to this story than just the patents on BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes. Angelina Jolie is also using blatantly misleading statistics to terrify women into thinking their breasts might kill them.

In the NYT op-ed piece, Jolie claims her doctor told her she has an “87% risk” of developing breast cancer. But what she didn’t tell you is that this number doesn’t apply to the entire population: it’s actually old data derived almost exclusively from families that were previously documented to have very high risks of breast cancer to begin with.

A study published on the National Human Genome Research Institute websiteand conducted by scientists from the National Institutes of Health reveals that breast cancer risks associated with BRCA1 genes are significantly lowerthan what’s being hyped up by Jolie and the mainstream media.

In fact, in a large room of 600 women, only ONE will likely have a BRCA mutation in her genetic code. The actual incidence is 0.125 to 0.25 out of 100 women, or 1 in 400 to 1 in 800. I used 600 as the average of 400 and 800.

And out of that 1 in 600 women who has the mutation, her risk of breast cancer is only 56 percent, not 78 percent as claimed by Jolie. But 13 percent of women without the BRCA mutation get breast cancer anyway, according to this scientific research, so the increasedrisk is just 43 out of 100 women.

So what we’re really talking about here is 1 in 600 women having a BRCA gene mutation, then less than half of those getting cancer because of it. In other words, only about 1 in 1200 women will be affected by this

Yet thanks to people like Jolie and the fear-mongering mainstream media, women all across the nation have been terrified into believing their breasts might kill them and the best way to handle the problem is to cut them off!

This, my friends, is the essence of doomsday fear mongering. This issue affects less than one-tenth of one percent of women but is being riled up into a nationwide fear campaign that just happens to feed profits into the for-profit cancer diagnosis and treatment industry, not to mention the monopolistic human gene patenting cartels.

That’s the real story of what’s happening here. Don’t expect to read this in the New York Times.

Corporate media refuses to mention real prevention and treatment options

As part of the breast cancer fear mongering and treatment scam now being run across the mainstream media, nearly all media sources are prohibiting any mention of holistic or natural options for treatment or prevention.

Sure, the media talks about “options,” but all those options just happen to lead back to the for-profit cancer industry. As an example, read this story by ABC News, part of the lying mainstream media that misinforms women and pushes a corporate agenda:

If you do test positive for BRCA, you have options, and you don’t necessarily have to go the Jolie route. Some women choose not to have surgery. Instead, they increase cancer surveillance with imaging tests. These include regular mammograms to test for breast cancer, and regular pelvic sonograms and blood-tests to watch for ovarian cancer.

Nowhere in this article does ABC News mention ways to suppress the BRCA1 gene by, for example, eating raw cruciferous vegetables containing Indole-3-Carbinol (I3C), a potent anti-cancer nutrient that halts breast cancer in its tracks. Nowhere does ABC News mention vitamin D which prevents nearly 4 out of 5 cancersof all types, including breast cancer.

Nope, the “options” being pushed by mainstream media are nothing more than mammograms, surgery, radiation and chemotherapy — all owned and run by the for-profit cancer industry that feeds on women and exploits their bodies for profit.

Nor is their any discussion of the total scam of the “pink ribbons” cancer cure industry which is primarily focused on giving women cancer through “free mammograms.” As any scientist or physicist already knows, mammograms cause cancer because they emit ionizing radiation directly into the breast and heart tissues. Get enough mammograms done and sooner or later they will detect breast cancer because they caused it! To date, 1.3 million women have been harmed by mammography.

Thanks, Angelina, for keeping the wool pulled over the eyes of women everywhere while selling out to for-profit, monopolistic, corporate interests that incessantly seek to exploit women for profit.

NewsRescue- Terrorists suspected to be the usual Boko Haram culprits launched a destructive attack on the hometown of ex-president, General Muhammad Buhari, Thursday night.

The attack involved a police station, prison from which unspecified prisoners were released, and attacks on other facilities. An explosion was also heard near Daura Motel. The terrorists were said to have robbed a bank in an operation that lasted several hours without interference of Nigeria’s lacking security services.

The Federal government of Nigeria declared a state of emergency across three north eastern states at the centers of the violence that has plagued Nigeria for several years. Katsina state, where this attack occurred is not covered by the state of emergency, however the president also promised heightened security in all states due to the predictable spillover and anger of the frustrated cult under attack.

People could be seen on the streets shouting that “no more President Jonathan in 2015.”

We are yet to understand how these apparently spontaneous riots and civil disobedience broke out, but they might not be unrelated to the state of insecurity and corruption in the nation which recently culminated in a declaration of a state of emergency in the northern states.

Anti-Corruption Network Protest At The US Embassy Asking For Visa Ban On Jonathan Ministers Diezani, Adoke, And Orubebe

The Anti-Corruption Network (ACN) today escalated the war over the non-war against corruption in Nigeria by sending a petition to United States President Barack Obama, citing the dangers of failing to check “corruption with impunity” in the country, and linking it with growing insecurity.

The group led by a former house of representatives member Dino Melaye led protesters to the US Embassy in Abuja to drop a letter demanding that President Obama revoke the visas of key officials of President Goodluck Jonathan’s regime and their families.

“We are deeply concerned that if this gravity of corrupt practices goes on unchecked, unpunished and unabated, it will definitely worsen the unpalatable security situation and challenges we are already facing which its root course could also be traceable to destructive impact of corruption,” the group said in the letter, dated May 16 and routed through the US Ambassador in Nigeria. -SaharaReporters

The last-standing vociferous Niger Delta militant, Alhaji Mujaheed Asari Dokubo, recently addressed a press conference. The entire drivel of his speech was saddening on several levels. Dokubo started by describing Fulanis as interlopers “who migrated and invaded our land from Fouta Djallon” and fail to “show respect for the owners of the country.” He added some other small-minded spiel not quite worth repeating. It makes me wonder, in 2013, who prattles like this? Who are not the owners of the country? Historically and anthropologically considered, which people are not migrants? Whose ancestors grew up organically from the soil of Nigeria? All humans have been migrants at one point or the other.

But those cheap shots are not what were unfortunate about the whole affair.

Let me state upfront that I had some measure of respect for Dokubo. My regard for him was planked on his immaculate honesty: He is one of the tribe of “activist” rabble-rousers who doesn’t hide that he is agitating for a meal. In Nigeria’s austere clime, it has become amoral to take up forms of gangsterism and make a lot of noise until your bread is buttered. (It only becomes immoral when you hide your beggarly lingo under the garb of activism and social crusade). In Dokubo’s case, he has turned into an election consultant who advocates President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election for all the wrong reasons.

Just last December, Dokubo was criticising Jonathan for squandering the goodwill invested in him by the citizens of Nigeria. In that newspaper report, he had harsh words for the President’s spokesman, Reuben Abati, too. In January, he granted an interview to National Mirror where he, specifically, admitted that his angst was because food had been taken from his mouth (his paraphrased words). Five short months later, he is vehemently supporting the President! It does not take many brain cells to conclude that the feeding bottle has been pushed into his mouth, again. He is now a nationalist of unquestionable zeal, barracking all opposition. We have seen his types before and, God knows, the uncouth manners can be exasperating.

Nowadays, when the likes of Dokubo, Annkio Briggs, Kingsley Kuku and other Niger Delta “activists” insist Aso Rock will not be vacant in 2015, they do not articulate beyond the maudlin fact that other presidents — from other regions of Nigeria — spent two terms and one of their “sons” must do same too. That is the sole lame leg on which their logic rests. The country must stand behind their tribal flag, swallow the bitter pills of ill-governance, poor vision and monumental corruption, simply because the country feeds off the Niger Delta oil. But come to think of it, considering the poverty rate and the poor economic situation, are Nigerians really benefitting from “our oil” to justify a second term for Jonathan? The endless rant about “our oil” quietly evades this question and instead yells that their “son” has to be good enough for Nigeria if “our oil” is good enough to sustain the economy. The rest of us, they insist, are parasites that contribute nothing to Nigeria except for our animal presence and the many problems of it.

The trio of the conquistadors and other ethnic jingoists are one of the reasons I get weary of our nation and even the African continent. In terms of technological output and scientific advancement, we are at the lowest rung of the ladder. Rather than invest in education and technology, we spend all our lives killing and maiming over natural resource. We cannot even advance the use of the resources beyond what the Oyinbo man told us.

With all the sense of propriety latent in their rhetoric of “our oil”, what did anyone’s ancestors do to deposit the oil in the ground? Until the Oyinbo man told us the oil had economic value, what did the black man know about it? And what have we done for ourselves with “our oil” other than the mindless corruption that has been ongoing for decades? Dokubo and co might have earned the right to call the rest of Nigeria “parasites” but if they reflected deeply, they would find that they freeload on nature’s goodwill as anyone else.

As things stand presently, we are thoroughly messed up as a people and sometimes it appears it is too late to lament our comprehensive emptiness. The very least we can do is to tell these 2015 consultants to cease fire, go back to the drawing board, re-strategise and fire some smart shots. They should tell a better tale other than insisting we live with whatever odium foisted on us because it came from the Niger Delta. For a start, can this trio bring out the 2011 campaign promises and check what has been achieved?

So far, Aso Rock has pretended it didn’t send these foot soldiers on any errand to us but we have lived long enough in Nigeria to know the voice of Jacob even when the hairy hand says Esau. There is nothing new happening here, they are merely deploying the same boring approach that was used by the late Gen Sani Abacha in the not too distant past. The new addition to the script is that while Dokubo tries to portray the Fulanis as enemies of Nigeria, he makes his candidate seem like one who needs somebody to take over his remote control.

And finally, the rant of the trio should teach the rest of Nigeria about our national and institutional shortsightedness. Dokubo and others are justified when they holler all day about “our oil” because, all said and done, the resource is on their land. Those of us whose ancestors did not settle on oil-rich land should start thinking of how to wean ourselves off the Niger Delta breast otherwise, we will forever be held to ransom. We will be harassed, blackmailed and morally harangued into accepting any defective product as long as it comes from the Niger Delta.

The likes of Prof. Ango Abdullahi who boast that Jonathan will not get a second term, that a northerner must occupy Aso Rock come 2015, should face up to the question of what percentage of resources their region contributes to Nigeria. (Seriously, what makes him so conceited?) They had better start looking ahead in case tomorrow comes, when there will be no more easy money to make Aso Rock so alluring.

Turmoil has gripped Syria for over two years, and many people, including large numbers of Syrian soldiers and security personnel, have been killed in the foreign-sponsored militancy.

The Syrian government says that the chaos in the country is being orchestrated from outside, and there are reports that a very large number of the militants are foreign nationals.

The National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, has disclosed that President Jonathan took the last option of declaring a State of Emergency in three Northern Nigeria states yesterday because the terrorists were planning to declare a state of their own.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja today, he called on the 36 states of the federation to join the war against terrorism in order to make the State of Emergency work effectively.

The PDP chieftain said that although Borno, Yobe and Adamawa would principally feel the heat of the State of Emergency, all the states in the country must begin to guard their boarders, as a proactive measure for limiting the scope and space for the operations of terrorists.

Tukur, who spoke to journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, said no sacrifice should be considered as being too much in the efforts aimed at containing terrorism in the country, a reason he said the PDP has been at the forefront of the campaign against the menace in the country.

He said all states must proactively guard their boarders so as to contain expected spill overs from those states where terrorists would be flushed out.

“Before now, I have been campaigning against terrorism which I described as evil,” he said.   “I said the fight against the evil must involve everyone and not security personnel alone.

“If our security men are fighting terrorists in Yobe, the neighbouring states should not fold arms. We all need to be more vigilant and active such that if terrorists escape from one state, they would have no breathing space in any area they may decide to invade with the aim of re-grouping.”

He said that President Jonathan took the last option of declaring a State of Emergency because the terrorist were becoming more daring.

“They were even planning to declare a state of their own and these happened because many of us believed that the menace of terrorism has been a problem for the north alone.”
