Hipotesis merupakan suatu jawaban yang bersifat sementara terhadap permasalahan penelitian, sampai terbukti melalui data yang terkumpul. Hipotesis adalah suatu anggapan dasar atau jawaban sementara dari suatu permasalahan yang dihadapi, sehingga harus dibuktikan kebenarannya (Arikunto, 1998 : 67).

Dengan permasalahan yang peneliti kemukakan di muka, maka hipotesis yang diambil adalah : "Diduga biaya unit dan harga pokok penjualan berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan laba".
