<div> </div>
<div>Once we pulled in it was amazing. The track looked fantastic and just the facility was first class,</div>
<div> </div>
<div>so clean, not all run down.</div>
<div> </div>
<div> </div>
<div>As soon as I started the bike for practice it was go time, the first lap on the track I was on the</div>
<div> </div>
<div>gas. I have a big problem of taking too much time to get up to speed so I’ve really been working</div>
<div> </div>
<div>on every time I’m on track I just go. I was feeling good, the bike was awesome, and the track was</div>
<div> </div>
<div>a blast. It was about 3/8 mile with tons of banking, you could ride anywhere. James Hart and</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Earring Bill had the bike dialed, we made a few changes after each practice and the bike just got</div>
<div> </div>
<div>better and better.</div>
<div> </div>
<div> </div>
<div>In the heat races the top 3 went to the Dash for Cash and the heat was stacked, Brad Baker,</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Henry Wiles, and Brandon Robinson to name a few. I got the hole shot then had Brad pass me,</div>
<div> </div>
<div>then I would get him back, then he would get me back. We swapped the lead just about every</div>
<div> </div>
<div>turn, the race was great, it was such a blast. Brad and I have raced together since we were 4 so</div>
<div> </div>
<div>it was thrilling to have such a battle. In the dash we had a bit of trouble with the rear brakes and</div>
<div> </div>
<div>lost them. Billy bled the brakes to try and get them better but we didn’t get a chance to try them</div>
<div> </div>
<div>so it was just a guessing game.</div>
<div> </div>
<div> </div>
<div>Before the main event we were watching the amateur races and the Pro race and everyone was</div>
<div> </div>
<div>running a different tire then us and only Brandon had one so they put it on his bike. I was</div>
<div> </div>
<div>debating on what to do but I didn’t even have the tire of choice until I noticed Luke Baird pitted</div>
<div> </div>
<div>next to us had an extra one on his back up bike and we stole that one. It was very last minute but</div>
<div> </div>
<div>it was a great choice. It was the best thing we could do. It ended up being a great race, after</div>
<div> </div>
<div>taking the lead from Brad on about lap 3 out of 15 I lead the whole thing. I had a very good line</div>
<div> </div>
<div>through both turns. My corner speed was very good because I had no rear brakes after</div>
<div> </div>
<div>overheating them in the heat race. It was a very fun race and felt Brad and Jared Mees breathing</div>
<div> </div>
<div>down my back the whole time. That was my first Expert win since 2011 and the first time leading</div>
<div> </div>
<div>laps since then too. It was great and felt so good. I can’t explain how happy I was with that.</div>
<div> </div>
<div> </div>
<div>The TT got rained out on Sunday so we got home early. Things have switched gears now with</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Barber next weekend. I can’t wait to get there on get back on my Road Race bike.</div>

<p>Overall, the weekend was alright but I could have done a lot better. &#8221;</p>
<p><strong>NMC</strong>: Are you excited for Round 3 at Barber?      </p>
<p><strong>RM</strong>:  Barber is one of my favorite tracks. I haven&#8217;t done much since road America except get myself ready for Barber. After the way Road America went, I know I&#8217;m going to have to get up front right off the line and not let anyone get away. I haven&#8217;t been doing any riding; my bike stays in Colorado and I live in California, but I have been working out.  The only track time I get is the 50 minutes before qualifying, but I am ready.</p>
<p><strong>NMC</strong>: What are your expectations or goals for the weekend?</p>
<p><strong>RM</strong>: To finish better than I did last year, which was 8th place. That has been my best finish so far is AMA Pro Supersport so I am shooting for any finish better than that!</p>

<div></div>
<div>&#8220;Veterans Empowered Through Motorsports has done some great things by utilizing these men and women in the AMA Paddock. From what we&#8217;ve seen this is fantastic idea! Having worked with and employed many combat veterans in the aviation industry, I know first-hand the attention to detail and dedication they bring to work with them, which is the same they used to defend our country around the world. I&#8217;m honored to have them join our team and want to thank Pete (Cline) and his organization for making it possible,” said Espinosa.</div>
<div></div>
<div>Peter Cline, Founder VETM, added, “We are really looking forward to Barber this weekend. We learned quite a bit at Road America when we worked within the SuperSport class. As an outreach program we are always looking to improve, and we are going to bring in some additional veteran components this weekend. Working with James Gang / Hoban Brothers this season has been critical for us. And now for Dennis (Espinosa) at M.O.B. Racing to ask us to come in and assist them is great.”</div>

<p><span style="font-family: Arial;">Moto West Grand Prix took to the Streets of Willow course in the counter-clockwise direction for Round 4 of the 8 race series. Jason Aguilar had never ridden Streets in that direction before. It was going to be a challenging weekend with a new course and windy conditions forecast. In the first race on Sunday, 600 Superstock, Jason got a great start and was pulling a gap on Jake Dolan in 2nd, and Benny Solis in 3rd, when a red flag incident forced a restart that eliminated Jason’s holeshot. <p><span style="font-family: Arial;"><a href="http://www.nextmotochampion.com/nmc-news/jason-aguilar-takes-the-lead-in-2-moto-west-grand-prix-championsh%e2%80%8bips/attachment/aug2" rel="attachment wp-att-13514"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-13514" title="aug2" src="http://www.nextmotochampion.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/aug2.jpg" alt="" width="350" height="233" /></a></span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial;">Jason’s second race of the day, 750 Superstock, saw Jason get another great start and open up a 3 second lead on the second lap. As fate would have it, another red flag erased Jason’s lead and forced a 4 lap restart. Once again, Jason could not duplicate the holeshot dropping to 2nd at the start behind Travis Goldstein, with Javelin Broderick in 3rd. Javelin got by Jason with 1 lap to go. Jason was pushing hard when Javelin’s bike popped out of gear, slowing Javelin and forcing Jason to check up. “Once I got by Javelin, I didn’t think I could catch Travis”, who had opened up a several bike length gap. But, going into the final turn, Jason closed the gap and was right behind Travis. Jason got in the draft and pulled out to try to pass. In a finish that was too close to call, Jason was declared the winner. The win moved Jason into 1st place in 750 Superstock Championship.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial;">                              <wbr>                              <wbr>                              <wbr>                              <wbr>                              <wbr>                                                            <wbr>                  Picture courtesy of Caliphotography</wbr></wbr></wbr></wbr></wbr></wbr></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial;">The final race of the day, 600 Superbike, once again saw Jason get the holeshot. But, Jason ran into the first corner a little too hot and that opened the door for Bryce Prince to put an inside move on Jason for the lead. Jason pushed hard to match Bryce’s pace running a personal best of 1:17.842, but Bryce was able to open up a gap. Bryce took the win, with Jason all alone in 2nd place. The finish was good enough to move Jason into 1st place in the 600 Superbike Championship. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Arial;">Thanks to all of Jason’s Sponsors:</span></p>

<div><span style="font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;">One of the many battles that caught a lot of attention this weekend were in SuperTwins GTU between an MRA long-time champion, Shannon Moham and a visitor from California, Frankie Garcia. Ray Gaimara and Chris Weed also had their own back and forth action in the race. They all put on an impressive display of race craft and trust. Moham started the race taking the hole shot into turn one with Ray close behind. Shannon started pulling out a gap from the field shortly after. Frankie Garcia took </span>second and started working to close the gap to Shannon. Once Frankie caught up, he passed Shannon prior to turn one, both riding a Suzuki SV650. However it didn&#8217;t take long for Moham to fire back at Garcia by getting a better drive out of turn three and passing him onto the back straight. Fankie came right back into turn four around the outside of Shannon. Meanwhile Ray Gaimara and Chris Weed went head to head for 3rd place! Weed would get around Gaimara in the back section of the track while Ray would fight back by passing him in the straights. Shannon and Frankie clicked off laps in the 1:55s and ultimately Frankie pushed Shannon to break the class record he had previously set four years prior with a 1:55.468. With a little over one lap left Garcia passed Moham again into turn four by putting the brakes on late. On the start of the final lap Moham came across the line alone with Garcia nowhere in sight. As the checkered flag came out, Shannon took the win while Chris madea final pass stick coming in second with Ray following in third.</div>
<div></div>
<div>Tracy Schram wins Race of the Rockies on his Kawasaki ZX-10R in front of Turner and Thornton. The 2012 Race of the Rockies (ROR) champion Dan Turner on pole position got a great start. Doug Kahl then passed Turner into turn four on the first lap. However when they all came across the Start/Finish on lap two the running order was Schram, Turner and Mike Applegate. This was the start of the neck and neck battle that lasted through the end of the race. Applegate was then able to get around Turner in pursuit of Schram. This order remained for a few laps until Mike put the hammer down and turned his fastest lap of the race at the time of a 1:49.416. He got around Tracy to take the lead from the pack. Tracy fought back with a 1:49.993 and looked up the inside of turn four on Mike but didn&#8217;t make it stick as Mike is a demon on the brakes. Dan also followed with a fast lap of 1:49.904. The riders stayed incredibly consistent clicking away lap after lap in the 1:49s. Just behind the front three, Ricky Orlando swapped positions with Ray Thornton. Ray eventually made a pass on Ricky that stuck. He then proceeded to pull out a small gap on Ricky. Back in the front, Schram and Applegate continued to swap positions and rode a close, clean race. Turner stayed with them on cruise control in third place waiting to pounce. Unfortunately for Applegate, he crashed during the fantastic battle, which lead to Tracy taking it home with the win.</div>
<div>When asked how he is adapting to the new bike during the post-race interview, Tracy answered, &#8220;It&#8217;s awesome, it&#8217;s really tough to translate what I&#8217;ve been riding into this thing. But it is starting to come along; we&#8217;ve got a ways to go. I feel there is a lot more left in myself and the bike&#8230;&#8221;</div>
<div></div>
<div>The Imperial Sportbike and ABATE of Colorado 4 Hour Endurance Race was a success with many riders competing for the trophies and cash purses. The grids for the Titanium Butt and True Endurance classes were larger from the previous year. Racing action for the race started at 4pm on Saturday and finished up by 8pm as the sun was starting to set. In the end, the participants squeezed into the pavilion at High Plains Raceway in the late evening for the awards ceremony where trophies for all three classes down to fifth place were given out in addition to the purse money that came to a grand total of $3000. The purse money was funded from the generous sponsorship support of Imperial Sportbike and ABATE of Colorado, in addition to a portion of the surcharge that all participants paid.</div>
<div></div>
<div>The MRA regularly sees racers traveling from Montana, New Mexico and a few other states. This weekend brought in additional racers from out of state (Texas and California to name a couple) that came for the 4 Hour Endurance Race or the known camaraderie and family like atmosphere.</div>
<div>One long time MRA traveler from New Mexico, Ray Thornton confirmed that when he said, &#8220;Glad to be here. I want to thank the corner workers, the MRA, it&#8217;s a great organization. Great competition, great tracks and it&#8217;s just a great time. It makes it worth the drive and thanks to all of you.&#8221;</div>
<div>The group from California were seen all weekend long full of smiles and laughter around the pits, even when MRA locals played a few friendly pranks on them. The MRA welcomes you to come out to Colorado and have some fun&#8211;on and off the track.</div>
<div></div>
<div>On June 29th and 30th the MRA will head to Pueblo Motorsport Park for Round 3. ABATE of Colorado will be hosting a BBQ Cook-off between the member districts. This cook-off is put on for the racers and the paddock. Typically a couple hundred pounds of meat will be smoked along with all the fixings.</div>
