3 New Need for Speed Titles in the next year

In their quarterly financial report, EA among other things listed 3 Need for Speed games scheduled for release in the following 12 months.
Starting with Q1 (April - June 2010) is Need for Speed World, the PC exclusive MMO racing game. In Q3 (this year's holiday season) another game is scheduled to launch with a TBA title and most likely being the Criterion developed game. But the big surprise comes in Q4 (January - March 2011) when another consoles and PC targeted game is scheduled to launch. The game's developer is currently unknown, but it might be the return of the series to Black Box.

Ferrari Racing Pack Announced for NFS SHIFT!

So it's official, Ferrari will make its first comeback to NFS since its last appearance in NFS Hot Pursuit 2.

The Ferrari Racing Pack will be available exclusively on Xbox360 for $10.00 or 800 MS Points and will include the following Ferrari models:

- FERRARI 430 SCUDERIA
- FERRARI 599 GTB FIORIANO
- FERRARI CALIFORNIA
- FERRARI F50 GT
- FERRARI F430 CHALLENGE
- FERRARI F430 GTC
- FERRARI F430 SPIDER
- FERRARI FXX
- FERRARI SCUDERIA SPIDER 16M
- FERRARI SUPERAMERICA

Also those following bonus racing events will be available:

- Ferrari Race Exhibition – Four single race events
- Ferrari Time Challenge - Hot Lap – Four single time attack events.
- Ferrari Mixed Track Competition – Four series events consisting of two races at multi layout tracks.
- Ferrari Time Challenge - Time Attack – Four single time attack events.
- Ferrari Series Competition – Three series events consisting of five races.
- Ferrari Eliminator Competition – Four eliminator based events (2 Lap eliminator and 2 Time eliminator).
- Ferrari Endurance Competition – Two single endurance events.
- Ferrari World Tour – A single race series consisting of 5 races.

SHIFT Category Competition

Some of you may have noticed the SHIFT Category Competition we launched in Showroom Weekly Issue #49 and to get more contestants we bring the rules and information of the competition to the news.

Here's how it works:
If you have a few images you would like to see featured in SHIFT Showroom category's thumbnail, send a private message to me (Rizur) with a link of the picture or as an attachment of private message.

Rules:
- Max. 4 pictures per user, so you can send one picture for every category (Classic, Artistic, Action, Wallpapers) or you can compete in one category with 4 different pictures.
- Remember to tell us which category you want your picture to compete in.
- Entries that have already been uploaded to the site ARE allowed.
- No resizing or cropping required, that shall be taken care of the SRW Staff.
- Image editing (Photoshop, etc) is only allowed in the Artistic and Wallpapers categories.
The winners will be announced in Showroom Weekly Issue #51 so you have about two weeks to send your pictures. SRW staff will choose the winners.

Everyone would see your work every time they go to the SHIFT Showroom so this is an opportunity you don’t want to miss! Remember, we don’t judge the looks of the car, it’s the picture itself that matters in this competition. Read the category descriptions to get some idea what we are looking for to each category.

World Online Beta Signup and more Developer Blogs

The signups for closed beta of Need for Speed World, the upcoming racing MMO are now open! Head on to this page and apply!

Along with the signups for the beta, EA also launched the official World Online website with new developer interviews. Exceptionally cool is the part 3 of All the world's a stage by World's art director Eduardo Agostini. There's also a new video interview featuring Dave Elton, a senior designer on Need for Speed World.

Another thing that happened is the name change: NFS World Online is no more, the official title is now Need for Speed World.

Ferrari in Need for Speed SHIFT?

From what we hear, Ferrari is coming to Need for Speed SHIFT. Right now it's only a rumour, but stay tuned, this might just be incredible enough to be true!

A new series of articles has recently started on the official NeedforSpeed.com website introducing the guys behind the upcoming Need for Speed World Online to the community. Posted last week is a video interview with the World Online's art director, Eduardo Agostini. Among other things he's responsible for environment art, you might remember him from the "All the World's a Stage" articles on the Developers blog on the official website.

$30k SHIFT Tournament update

The Autotrader.com Need for Speed SHIFT tournament is well underway with plenty of users posting rather fast times on the specified set of Career events. Remeber, this is a tournament open to North American residents with the first prize being $30,000 toward the purchase of a new car on Autotrader.com.
To qualify for the final tournament where 4 finalists race each other in EA studios in Blackbox, you need to post a top time as many of the 7 events as you can, with the events being the following:

Tier 1 Manufacturer 135i Coupe Race at Donington National
Tier 1 Race Coalition Alpental
Tier 1 Time Attack at Tokyo Club
Tier 2 Europe Series Race at Spa GP
Tier 2 Mixed Event Laguna Seca
Tier 3 Endurance Race at Ambush Canyon
Tier 3 USA vs Europe Race at Brands Hatch GP

Yes, these are all offline career events. So if you're from North America, own an Xbox 360 or a PlayStation 3, start racing on these events and posting top times. And of course register here on the official tournament site.

Recent Next NFS Game Announcements Fake

New rumours have started about Criterion developing a new Need for Speed game titled "Need for Speed: Out of the Law". Everything related to this title has been confirmed to be fake by Criterion.

Criterion is however developing a title for the series and as soon as there's anything official released, we'll let you know.

[CTC 18] - Product Placement Challenge Results Announced!

Product Placement challenge is officially over, and of all the stylish company cars in the competition the voters have chosen Flash-Ka's "Walkman Eclipse" as their favourite on 413 points.

Close behind in second place was Moe-Z- with his detailed automotive themed ride,". K&N M3 ." on 411 points. kostovmilica9's bright 7UP VW Golf followed behind in third place.
