Lamborghini Murciélago Roadster in World

After the first-ever roadster, which appeared in World just a couple of days ago, EA is at full swing and has released a new one: the Lamborghini Murciélago LP 650-4 Roadster. This very rare Lamborghini (only 50 were produced) was released in 2009, as a limited-run update of the normal Murciélago Roadster. The increased output of the 6.5-liter V12 was rated at 641 horsepower (650 PS, hence the name 650-4, the "4" referring to being four wheel drive). This updated engine allowed the car to reach 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, and a top speed of 330 km/h. It is only available in Grigio Telesto gray with Arancio orange highlights.

Get this Tier 3 luxury car in your garage today!

Car of the Week #4 '- Neon Streets -' and #5 'soft_1'

Last week we were a little busy so this week we're giving you a double shot of Car of the Week!

- Neon Streets - by Dr Houbenheimer

The first of our features this week is a prime example showcasing that you don't necessarily need the latest game to create a stunning ride. '- Neon Streets -' takes us back to the days when Need for Speed Underground 2 was in it's prime; it's your everyday tuner with a little bit of a modern twist: an eye-catching colour-scheme combined with a neat selection of striping to create that 'stand-out' look any tuner should have.

You can leave a comment here:
http://www.nfsunlimited.net/showroom/entry/63082

soft_1 by TeA

'soft_1' from the ProStreet showroom was created by one of the newer tuners on the site - TeA. Speaking from experience, transforming a Lexus from a luxury ride into a head-turning street vehicle is no easy feat, however TeA has pulled this off nicely. A delicious candy-purple base combined with an artistically placed mess of vinyls creates a delicious graffiti/street-art styled design that catches your eye and gets you drooling.
First roadster in World

It took a long time, but finally all Need For Speed: World players can enjoy the very first roadster to appear in the game: the second-generation (987) Porsche Boxter Spyder! Created in 1996, the Boxter is Porsche's first road vehicle to be originally designed as a roadster since the Porsche 550 Spyder. The name is a portmanteau of the word "boxer", referring to the vehicle's horizontally opposed or "boxer" engine.

The second-generation Spyder, which was unveiled at the 2009 Los Angeles Motor Show, is powered by a 3.4-liter flat-6 engine capable of producing 320 horsepower at 6700 rpm. Being a light car (1275 kg only), the Boxter Spyder can go from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 5 seconds. Its firmer suspension and a lower centre of gravity than other Boxster models make the Spyder supremely agile, both on the road and on the track. Get this new type of car in your World garage today for 2400 Speedboost!

New lightweight contender in World

The British automaker Lotus is well known by the sports cars it produces. Usually very light on weight and with fine handling characteristics, these cars are especially good for track days and motorsports. And now, all Need For Speed: World players can enjoy a new feather weight in the game. After the Elise, the Exige Cup 260 and the Evora, it is now time for the Lotus Europa S to join the car list.

Powered by 2.0-liter turbocharged GM Ecotec engine capable of developing 200 hp @5400 rpm, the Europa S can reach a top speed of 230 km/h, and it goes from zero to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds, mainly due to its low weight: just 995 kilograms. The aluminium chassis with composite body panels sure helped to reduce the weight. Still, this two-seat rear engined sports car was not stripped of things such as air conditioning, sound system or leather interior. Get this Tier 2 lightweight contender on your garage today for 3000 Speedboost.

April's IGC car for World

It's the end of the month, and as usually, the dev. team of Need For Speed: World has launched a new in-game cash (IGC) car: the Nissan Skyline GT-R (R32).

After cancelling the second generation Skyline GT-R, due to low demand and a gas crisis at the time, Nissan decided to revive the Skyline brand in 1989. The new generation GT-R had a new chassis, codenamed E-BNR32. This led to the shortened and common name, which is R32. Over the years different models of this Skyline were made available, such as the NISMO Group A Evolution (560 made), the V-Spec (1453), the V-Spec II (1303), and the N1 Race Version (228).

Nicknamed "Godzilla", this Tier 2 monster is now available for $400,000 IGC!

New rules for NFS World Leaderboards

This is just a heads-up to all Need For Speed: World players who compete in the leaderboards here. The new rules regarding the leaderboards will come in effect tomorrow, the 1st of May, as it was already announced in mid-April.

Here is a small tutorial explaining how you can add a video or a screenshot of your race. Please read the link provided above to understand why you have to start doing this.

How to add a video / a screenshot to a time in the leaderboards:

1. Go to your World profile (as an example, this is mine)

2. Choose the track you want by clicking the black down arrow on the right side.

3. An Edit button next to the car you used to beat the record will appear. Click on it (example of my time in Main Street Circuit using the Toyota MR2).

4. Now you can either post a URL for a video hosted on YouTube with the entire race (for players 1st to 20th), or upload a screenshot of the post-race screen (for players 21st to 100th). This is how the page looks like. Remember, you can list your video on YouTube as "unlisted" and select the option "private". This way only we, staff, will be able to see your video, so you don't have to worry about sharing your racing line with other players.

Have fun recording times in World, and if you have any questions about the new rules, feel free to ask!
This week our Showroom Car of the Week comes from kostovmilica9, tuner on the site since 2009. ‘KM9’ has quickly developed into one of the Showroom’s elite tuners, displaying a great sense of design in a variety of Need for Speed games. ‘LimeVidia’ is a prime example of his work, combining a flowing vinyl design with a striking black and green colour combination. The spoiler-less body and green lips complete the look, and the car is cleanly presented using a simple but effective background.
Porsche Panamera Turbo in World + other news

The Porsche Panamera is Porsche's first commercial attempt in creating a 4-door luxury sports car. Competing with the Maserati Quattroporte or the Aston Martin Rapide, the Panamera is considered by many as the natural successor of the Porsche 989, a 4-door concept car created by Porsche in the late 1980's, which unfortunately never went into production (only one was built). However, many Porsche purists criticized this luxury car when it was revealed , just like they did when the Cayenne SUV was launched. According to them, Porsche are deviating from their roots by creating this type of car, which is completely different from their usual two-door, rear engined sports car. Still, sales have been quite positive.

Powered by a 4.8-liter V8 twin turbo engine, the Panamera Turbo develops 500 hp and is capable of reaching 303 km/h, which is impressive since the car weighs more than 1800 kilograms. Its luxury interior, front engine, rear-wheel drive (four-wheel drive in some models), and three different types of gearboxes (6-speed manual, 7-speed ZF PDK dual clutch or 8-speed Aisin Tiptronic S) make the Porsche Panamera Turbo a sight to behold on the road. After being previously available as a top-up gift, this luxury car is now available to all World players in the car lot for 3000 Speedboost.

All Nissan 350Z temporarily retired

In other news, the dev. team decided to temporarily retire all Nissan 350Z (Z33) cars for retuning. According to World's Facebook page, these cars will be re-released shortly.

New supercar in NFS World

The release of the Koenigsegg CCX Elite, back in December 2011, marked the beginning of "Elite" cars in World. However, not everyone could afford such a piece of art, so the dev. team has finally decided to let the stock Koenigsegg CCX appear in the game for all players to enjoy!

Built by the Swedish car manufacturer, the CCX (Competition Coupé X) was created as the replacement of the CCR. First unveiled at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show, this rear wheel drive and rear engined supercar can surely fight against the best and take the win. The time it takes to go from 0-100 km/h is just 3.2 seconds, and with a top speed of 395 km/h, there aren't many cars in World that can keep up. The use of carbon fibre where possible to reduce weight and the aerodynamic shape of the CCX contributed to a very fast supercar, but the engine, built by Koenigsegg themselves and assembled at their factory, is the main factor here: the massive 4.7-liter V8, helped by two centrifugal superchargers, is capable of producing 806 horsepower at 6900 rpm. The engine block, cast by Grainger & Worrall, a British company that produces drivetrain components for Formula One cars, is made of 356 Aluminium that has undergone a T7 heat treatment to become stronger and withstand higher cylinder pressures.

If you are a fan of Koenigsegg, you definitely have to spend 10000 Speedboost and get this supercar in your garage as soon as possible.

BMW M6 Coupé now in World

The list of BMW cars in Need For Speed: World keeps increasing, and today a new addition enters the car lot: the BMW M6 Coupé.

The M6 made its début at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show. It is heavily based on the BMW E63/E64 6-Series, which was introduced in 2004. Powered by a 5.0-liter V10 engine, the M6 Coupé produces 500 hp, can reach a top speed of 312 km/h and go from 0-100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds. It weighs 1,710 kg thanks to a carbon fibre reinforced plastic roof panel as well as thermoplastic front wings, aluminum doors and bonnet and compound boot lid. You can get this Tier 2 car in your garage for just 2400 Speedboost.

Free 750 Speedboost code

In a rather rare move, the dev. team at Need For Speed: World decided to give all players an universal code to redeem 750 Speedboost. According to them, today was a "Community Appreciation Day", and "to celebrate how much we appreciate our community, the NFS World game team thought it would be cool to give you all a one-time universal code that's good for 750 SpeedBoost!" Whatever that means, don't forget to redeem your code at World's website as soon as possible. It will expire on the 26th of April at 12:00 GMT. Spend that free boost wisely!
Most Wanted 2 in the pipeline?

It looks like the sequel to one of the most appraised Need For Speed games ever, Most Wanted, is about to see a sequel being released in 2012. South African retailer BT Games, which got famous by revealing Jak and Daxter HD Collection before the official announcement, has done it again by revealing Dead Space 3 and Need For Speed: Most Wanted 2. The news spread like wildfire, and since then both these titles have been pulled off the website.

For those who don't remember, Need For Speed: Most Wanted was launched in 2005. After Underground 1 and 2, cops were back in NFS, along with free roam, tuning, illegal street racing and also exotic machines such as the Porsche Carrera GT, the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, and the Lamborghini Gallardo, just to name a few. The story took place in Rockport (which is now part of NFS: World). From Most Wanted also came the most popular car of the entire series: the BMW M3 E46 GTR.

Official confirmation on both Dead Space 3 and Need For Speed: Most Wanted 2 is not out as of yet, but let's hope BT Games is right again. According to various sources, Criterion Games is developing another entry in the NFS franchise to be released this fall. On 23rd January 2012, Criterion's creative director, Craig Sullivan, said on Twitter that their studio has "lots to share over the coming months". Sullivan didn't provide any further details, except to say the upcoming announcement is "going to be BIG". If all of this is true, we can probably expect an official announcement at E3 2012 in June. Hot Pursuit 2010 was also announced at E3 2010.

Fingers crossed for Most Wanted 2!
