An El Niño is a temporary change in the climate of the Pacific ocean, in the region around the equator, an abnormal warming of surface ocean water, its effect, a complete reversal of trade winds bringing torrential rain, flooding and mudslides to the usually dry coastal areas and a collapse of monsoons which can bring severe drought. The phenomenon also causes severe weather disturbances around the world.

For most of us, summertime is the best time of the year, vacation, break  for students, sunny day and most of the all, the beaches! its is the time of the year when the weather is really good and can enjoy the splashing waters of the sea… I do hope i have the time to visit one this summer just to enjoy, relax and have a summer fun time!

Here are my top 10 beaches to visit in the Philippines.

10. Anawangin Beach (Zambales) - if you like  camping, boat ride, adventure, mountain climbing and a touch of  united states view, this is the place to be…   I was here last year and really enjoyed the view.  Check my post here. Spending your summertime here is cheap and you will definitely enjoy the island hoping and the mountain views.  You can either do a trail hike to the campsite and beach front or have a 45 minute boat ride.  Just setup your tent and do whatever you like.  Be sure you have a complete set of outdoor gears as there are no electricity, no hotel rooms, no convenience stores.  And lastly, never go there if the weather is bad… just a tip!

9. Siargao (Surigao del Norte) - For all you surfers out there, you might want to check this out.  a tropical island that hosts one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and home of wave surfing. The island offers huge waves that can curl up to 12 feet and the breath-taking white sand beaches that still remains unspoiled by urban lifestyle.  September to November is the best time for surfing and every year a surfing competition is held here. 8. Dakak (Zamboanga del Norte in Mindanao )- Dakak Park Beach Resort is located near the provinces of Cebu and Dumaguete. 1. Boracay (Panay Islands) – yes, the top choice… has always been the favorite place of beach goers to go in the Philippines. This is because of the great white sand and cool waters, plus the night life….  Years ago, Boracay Island was a well-guarded secret, almost possessively so that only a few knew of its existence.
It was only in the 70s when, it is said, a foreign movie crew accidentally “discovered” this island paradise. Others maintain that it was the German traveler, ‘Jens Peters’ book, which included rave reviews of Boracay that changed the island’s pace from that of being a quiet secret to eventually being voted as having the best beach in the world.
Whichever story is true, it was around this time that Boracay Island slowly ceased to be a private travelers hangout and eventually became one of the major tourist destinations in the Philippines.

I know that there are still some other beaches out there that has not been discovered and is not included in the list.  Philippines is composed of 7,107 island during High tide and 7 of them disappears during low tide. I have been to some of these islands that are not open commercially and they are one heck of a work by mother nature. Really… Awesome!

At the end of the day, the gang meet for a mob scheme… then at night a round of poker!  These run in the world on facebook social gaming…though unreal, these apps let people play with their friends, interact with them and continuously leveling up for prestige and glory… as some would say…

I used to play Mafia wars, Farm Town and Restaurant City and i find these games very amusing as well as addicting… Since my old facebook account is gone.. i stopped playing, now focusing on other ideas….

For Zynga founder Mark Pincus, the formula for gaming success on Facebook  and other sites was as simple as it might seem counter-intuitive: create simple games that people like but can easily set aside.

Farmville – One of Zynga’s top title.  A kind of game wherein you can grow delicious fruits and vegetables and raise adorable animals on your very own farm.  My Nephew and Niece, kenneth and Kyla as well as my Bee are also addicted in this game…  I still like the looks of farmtown compared to this game…
2. Mafia Wars – One of the games that i got addicted, (its a good thing that i screwed up my old facebook account) A popular game by Zynga that allows the player do and master jobs in order to earn cash and gain experience with the goal of strengthening, establishing and advancing once status and becoming the ultimate mafia.  By sending requests to your facebook friends, one can gain control and expand your family and fight other mobsters. I miss playing the game… but its annoying that you would start all over again. I think i already leveled up to 200 when i was playing it.
3. Texas HoldEm Poker – For all poker enthusiasts and gamers, this one is for you… individuals compete for an amount of money or cloths contributed by the players themselves called pots. Because the cards are dealt randomly and outside the control of the players, each player attempts to control the amount of money in the pot based on the hand the player holds. I’m not into this game but since the popularity of poker in the world, this game got lots of attention.
4. Restaurant City – created by Playfish, one of the games i got addicted, i remember my brother-in-law warren, who usually sleeps beside his laptop and wakes up every 2 hours just to check his crew if they are still alive.  In this game you may experience working and managing a restaurant employ your friends and family to work for you either a chef, a waiter or a janitor… (If you are annoyed with someone hire him and let him work as janitor.. hehehehe).  And with lots of options and decorations you can create your restaurant unique from others.
5. Fishville – Another game released by Zynga, its like an underwater farmville wherein you will start with a few fish in a virtual aquarium, feed them, take care of them, harvest them and sell them to acquire new fish eggs. Not much interested on this game but my Nephew and Neice is also addicted to this game.

The story depicts the life of Michael Oher, a homeless African-American kid who is a product of a broken home, taken cared of and adopted by the Touhy’s, a rich white family who helped him unlock his full potential. Oher became the 2009 NFL draft playing as an offensive lineman for the Baltimore Ravens.

For 17 years, Michael Oher (Quinton Aaron) has been in foster care with different families.  Everytime he is sent to a new home, he usually runs away, feeling lonely and depressed. His fathers friend enrolled “Big Mike” in a christian school after the father convinces the coach that he is a natural athlete.  

At Wingate Christian School ( a fictional representation of Briarcrest Christian School in Memphis Tenessee ), “Big Mike” met SJ, the son of Leigh Anne Touhy.  One night, the family saw “Big Mike” strolling in the park, shivering  in the cold.  Leigh Anne pities his situation and offered “Big Mike” a place to stay.  The next morning, much to Leigh Anne’s dismay, He saw the bed sheets properly folded and saw “Big Mike” walking out to the driveway.  She then offered him if he could stay for thanksgiving, which he did.  From then on, “Big Mike” slowly became part of the family and got close with SJ and Lily.

With Leigh Anne’s kind heart, She then enrolled “Big Mike” to school and discovered that He has a 98th percentile in “protective instinct” but low in every aspect.  They decided to join him in football to have scholarship but needs to have a 2.5 GPA.  Due to his enormous size and titanic strength, he catched the eyes of every football coach.

Leigh Anne hired a private tutor for him to raise his grades and with the help and support of the teachers, the did succeed… Big Mike got 2.52 GPA.

The only conflict in the story is the time when the NCAA called Big Mike the same time he is about to choose the school wherein he is going to play, the organization suspected that the Tuohy’s forced Michael to select Mississippi, rather than Tennessee, his home-state team. But everything was resolved.

The film ends with the 2009 NFL Draft, showing the real-life Michael Oher being drafted by the Baltimore Ravens.

REACTIONS:

The only thing i find anoying in the movie is that i have not heard “Big Mike” say thanks to the Touhy’s.  Yet i find the movie amusing and with moral values.  Sometimes in life, it takes someone or another factor that brings out the best in a person.

I would rate the movie 4 stars.. Since the movie “Speed” and “The Net”, i loved Sandra Bullock, some signs of ageing yes but still she have those cute smile and a nice b***.  Try to watch the movie and see what i mean…

Many blogs provide information on a particular topic, a good subject and some mostly used as an online diary. It is usually a combination of text, videos and photos related to the said topic.

But what are the main resons why people blog?

Determining the goal why you need to blog is one of the most important thing in th field. This will determine the success of your blog and your survival.

Most of the new aspirant bloggers tend to start eagerly, writing topics as often as possible, touching different subjects without knowing and planning how their blog would succeed.

Currently, im into social networking and i have learned so much from the training.  Below are some reasons why people blog.

• To have fun and share ideas – one of the reasons i blog, to have fun and share my thoughts and opinions.  Some people i knew does not have the access nor the resources to find something interesting, especially on the topics they are interested in, whether it is a good movie, a new music album, latest happenings, some motivational story, technical stuff, tutorials  and other information. Though i am starting in this field, that is one of my goals, so hopefully in the near future i may be able to provide information as well as knowledge to impart on every visitors.
• To connect with people – one way to gain friends is through blogging, i admit i gained a couple of them like zxt, chingya, marlene, amor, laura, Nick, John, Renz, Izzat Aziz, kelvin and many others.  I enjoy reading their articles, gain knowledge and have fun…
• To market and promote something – Many blog sites i visit usually promote something or advertise their business and i agree that it is one of the cheapest form of marketing reaching millions of people. Using facebook, creating fan pages, and tweet infos are some of the strategies.  Most companies in the US now gain sales coming from social networking sites and Twitter.
• To establish yourself as expert in your industry – One way to share your knowledge to everyone is blog what you know, some individuals/industries provide information to their customers and visitors showing their say.  Intelletrace, one of the experts when it comes to providing data and internet all through out the US and internationally is an example.   Marc Alciati, the CEO of the company and Dean Zerbe, the VP usually take a time out after a stressing day in the telecom world to write about something, establishing their business as well as giving some thoughts.
• To earn online – i have met several bloggers out there really earning online.  Most of their niche’s are giving some tips on “how to earn online” and what they say is indeed true. Using affiliates, banners, tweets, PPC’s and referrals are some of the strategies, Some are even hired to write something on a certain product just to promote their business.  I have done some yet my earnings are still small

There are still other reasons why people blog and it takes a lot of patience, study, determination, creativity and the will to be successful.  Let us not be discouraged of failures, we should learn from it because  that’s where we will find success!

Now it has been remade with another group of artist of different backgrounds, ages and genres… showing their support and commitment for Haiti, to help them rise from the rubles.

As we remember last January 12, Haiti was struck by a Magnitude 7.0 earthquake one of the most severe earthquake that hit the country for over 200 years. The Epicenter was just outside the country’s capital Port-Au-Prince. It has been estimated that the death toll could reach to more than 200,000. As a result of the Tragedy,  a new version of the song was recorded.  The new version featured updated lyrics and music, as well as a rap segment pertaining to Haiti.

Any one who has the Idea?

At first, i am not impressed with this device as I am not an Apple user, (I am a blackberry geek) but this device really got my attention as it seems to be a killer of those Netbooks in the market today.  You know why? because of its features… Just finished watching the keynote presentation of Steve Jobs on this device and somehow… I am starting to love apple!

A few weeks ago, Apple has just sold 250 million Ipods, establishing 284 retail App stores having 3 billion Apps downloaded all for Ipod and ITouch and this is world wide! Not to say their revenue earning to 50 billion dollars a year. They are much larger than Sony, Samsung and Even Nokia as Apple is now considered the Top Mobile Devices Company… IPods + IPhones + Mac = 50 Billion….. and that is amazing!

Way back 1991, Apple has shipped the first Power Book, and if i remember it right it has this Trackball but with a modern TFT screen. 2007 thay have reinvented Mobile phones and a few years later, The Iphone 3GS.

Now this 2010, Apple came up with a third Category on the mobile device, something in between, common for our everyday tasks, something that is much better and more intimate than a Laptop and more capable than a smart phone.

Apple’s Ipad, had revolutionaized Browsing, Email, Photos, Videos, Music, E-Books and even Games.  Below are some of its Key Features.

And for your busines pleasure, you can have IWorks, saw on the presentation, there is this unique auto wrap up feature that is really cool.

Another thing I enjoyed on the presentation was when they actually did a simulation for EA Games, Need for Speed Shift and all i can say was spectacular! And lastly, the Price? Its starts with $499… who knows what does starts mean….

SO what do you think of this device? a Hype or Just a Fad? But i really do admire the marketing strategies of Apple, and Somehow, I’m thinking of getting one… Hmmm…

The video was last uploaded on the 22nd of January 2010 and up to date, it has generated 1,170,386 views and still counting.  The inmates of cebu started dancing to Michael Jackson’s songs way back 2007, one showing the phenomenal success of “Thriller”, which rocked the youtube world, worldwide as this is one of a kind.  It is such a great discipline for these inmates proving that even behind bars, they can do something worthwhile. it would have been so awesome if the King of Pop rendered it himself.

Warden Byron Garcia who lead the introduction commanding the group “attention!” really gave some hightlights on the video.   One thing that supposed to be they should have done was the inmates wearing white globes, to give highlights on the waving of hands… i remembered our ROTC days…. Anyways, I like how the dance was choreographed, the formation and the peace sign! Really Awesome! I’m proud to be pinoy!

What can you say about the inmates? Are they good or what?

Somehow it has been considered as a four or five year struggle with books, strict professors, never ending projects, quizes and other stressful activities that molded us as a person today. A symbol of complete freedom and Self-Discovery….But we know that all of those things made us what we are now, in this thing called life!

Here are some of the things, the usual lessons we have learned during our college days…

• Dealing with Boredom – During college, boredom is one of the things we encounter, and we usually get bored on the tasks given to us. But since we are free, we can do what ever we want, we can cope up to every boredom challenges we face as we have those friends that we can influence anytime… either to drink, watch a movie, cut classes or do some chick hunting.  But still, there are priorities that needs to be set during college and that is the time we decide for ourselves, do we need to be a happy-go-lucky person?  Nowadays, when you are working, boredome should not be the key to be irresponsible on your work.  If you are bored with your job, you always have a choice to look for another or just stay bored all the time…

• Living on Tough Spaces – I remembered when i was in college, i only have 50 bucks to spend for the whole day, 30 bucks for the fare and 20 bucks to be spent for food, i cannot afford to go to dorms during that time so i need to travel 2-3 hours. I cant imagine how in the world i survived but I managed to.  Some of us had the chance to live in an apartment or a dorm near to the school. And most of those people managed to live in tough spaces as they share the room, they share the toilets, enduring the noise and staying on a crowded and messy place.. also we need to work and live with people that we don’t necessarily like, you know how to deal with it, right? That was a college lesson.

• Problem Solving/Critical Thinking - This is one of the best lessons I have learned during college Days, It was on my Integral Calculus Class when I was called by my professor to answer the problem, since i was one of his naughty students i was caught red handed. I have not reviewed at all and have no idea on the topic, there I was standing in front of the board, squeezing everything on my mind…  after almost an hour, the bell rang and there i was, feeling stupid as my classmates pack their things… and My Professor just smiled at me…. When i got home, i concentrated for a while and said to my self, i would never be embarrased again…. Then after a few days… i got an almost perfect score on one of our quizzes and my Professor thought that i have cheated…. Then the time came when He called me again to answer another question. Though I am not that prepared, I was able to analyze the problem and answered it within 15 minutes…. Its not knowing the question but to think and analyze for the solution. Not just memorizing the steps but dealing on how to solve any given task. No matter how you twist and turn the problem, you can still have the solution.

• Social Drinking – Almost 90% of people who go to college never missed any event of social drinking. The modern professional is presented with plenty of opportunities to have a few pints, pitchers, or cocktails after work. If you didn’t go to college and learn that there’s always a time and a place for this type of event, you may not have been able to control yourself.  It is bad to go to work smelling like a “chico” or being late with a “hangover” and generally being unproductive..

• Socializing – One of the lessons to be learned when you are in college…. is to socialize, you may never know that maybe one of your classmates would be the next CEO of company or maybe He/She may get a high position in one of the fields you are at with. Having friends and contacts even when you are now working improves your life and may gain oppurtunities. A business partner or even a friend that can help you land a good job. Who knows…?

• Managing Finances and Debt - Not everything we learn in college is fun, it is really hard to move when you are on a tight budget, so you need to find a way to save and be wise spending on those branded shirts, cool shoes and expensive gadgets. Even you are working part-time, it makes things complicated.  I remembered I worked as a service crew at McDonald’s during my college years and the problem I usually encounter is saving extra money. Because it would be a big problem if i dont have any spare when ever you are 50 miles away from home and no one to ask for help….As an employee now, we need to work on the credit cards and shopping spree, or else we will fall into big debt…

• Appreciating Vacation - And here is the fun part.. Vacation, every Semestral Break, you have the time to go out of town with Friends, go mountain climbing, Sleep over to a friends house and drink till the break of dawn, with no worries.  We’ll as long as you think that you wont get a 5 on your classcard after two weeks… And if you are working now, You would definitely miss those free time, sleeping all day and watching movies and just lying in your room…If you find to be lazy to go to work, you need to file a leave… and if you are just making reasons for a sickness, there would still be hassles along the way…Get a medical certificate for crying out load.. Unless you have a doctor in the family.. That would be easy….

• Writing and Communication Skills – one of the common problems especially on the IT field, most techies are good on hands-on application but sometimes worse when it comes to writing and communicating.  One thing I learned during college days is to speak and somehow write well. I never had a doubt that I would be using these skills if i’d be working for a good company and indeed it paid off…:)

• Time Management - This is a very important lesson, When in college or even on the secondary and primary school days, we are being trained not to be late and do things in an organized manner. If our class starts at 7am, then we plan things 2 or 3 hours before considering the distance and preparation we need to do. Same when we are now an employee.  When our time is 7am, we should be responsible to wake up early, anticipate the traffic and compose ourselves to do our job well.

• Continue Learing – I still remember my professor in College (Engr. Limos) told our class “After college, life does not stop there, as well as learning new things and learning new skills, it is always a continuous process, you will not succeed if you stop learning…” And he is true… learning new things everyday will make you succeed in this life. I usually dont close my eyes everynight if i dont acquire or learn something during the whole day i lived.

There are other values that we can learn during college days and so many friends to be with but let us face it, not just because you have High grades or graduated in college with flying colors does not mean that you will be successful, it is always the determination, the patience and willingness of the person to be successful.
