As the lights dimmed at the historic Gwanghwamun Square in chilly Seoul, the energy was just as electric thousands of miles away in the tropical Philippines. As BTS took the stage to celebrate their highly anticipated new album ARIRANG, Filipino fans shared the same magical moment from home.

On the evening of March 21, PLDT Home gathered its subscribers for an exclusive watch party of BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG – the historic reunion of RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook which also marked the launch of the Kpop group’s newest album ARIRANG. The much-awaited comeback signals BTS’ return following their hiatus for mandatory military service, with Netflix livestreaming the 60-minute performance globally.

The watch party took place at Myeongdong Korean Gastropub, Quezon City, treating around 200 BTS fans to a night of food and drinks and fun and games, and making them feel the collective joy of seeing BTS back together on the global stage. The workshop didn’t just discuss environmental topics—it highlighted how sustainability affects our daily lives, our communities, and most importantly, our children’s future.

Andrea started with the basics: the transition from the 8 Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to today’s more comprehensive 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It focused on improving global well-being—things like health, education, gender equality, and reducing hunger.

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals are organized into five pillars—People, Prosperity, Planet, Peace, and Partnership—and are guided by principles that ensure everyone is included, protected by human rights, supported starting from the most vulnerable, led by each country, and encouraged to participate in the process.

Century Tuna officially celebrates the return of mountaineer and Superbod athlete Jeno Panganiban to the Philippines after successfully reaching the top of Mount Everest, the world’s highest summit.

Through a couple of months of relentlessly climbing the unforgiving terrain and enduring the frigid climate of Mount Everest, Jeno has etched his name in Philippine history as the youngest male Filipino who has reached its summit in almost two decades, inspiring a new generation of Filipinos to embrace the challenge of facing their own summit with strength and proper nutrition.

Century Tuna honors his monumental achievement and welcomes Jeno home, shining a spotlight on his triumphant ascent. He embodies strength, endurance, and resilience in his pursuit to reach the summit of the world.

Youngest male Filipino Mount Everest summiteer, Jeno Panganiban, shares stories about his journey climbing the highest mountain in the world.

“When we were approaching the summit, I approached it with pride because by that time, we knew that the whole nation was watching us. And I felt emotional because I was able to carry the Philippine flag to the top of the world,” Jeno shared as he recounted the once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Jeno’s summit to the world’s peak is a testament to years of hard work and dedication to fueling his passion for mountaineering and optimizing his lifestyle. He transitioned from a former software engineer, working a 9-to-5 job, to owning a distribution business, supplying healthy produce to restaurants across Metro Manila, which has given him the flexibility to control his own time.

When he set his sights to finally achieving his long-time dream of conquering Mount Everest, Jeno knew that it required singular focus and relentless drive. It wasn’t only about rallying together all his previous mountaineering experiences. It was also about actively choosing to go through extreme preparation and intentionally nourishing his body with the right nutrition that can push him to become one of the Philippines’ national prides.

From high altitude sickness, hazardous weather, to the looming threat of avalanches, Jeno persisted through the life-threatening challenges. He endured temperatures reaching below freezing, extreme sun exposure burning, and loss of oxygen as he was reaching the summit while pushing through exhaustion.

At the 19th Philippine Summit hosted by The Asset, Eduardo F. Francisco, President of BDO Capital & Investment Corporation, underscored the vast potential of the Philippine economy to thrive through strategic infrastructure investments, particularly in the energy sector.

Francisco highlighted the strong interest from foreign investors in the country, especially in large-scale energy projects. “Many foreign investors, like the French, some Canadians, the Japanese, and the Chinese, are coming here in the Philippines as engineers or consultants,” he said.

Offshore wind projects, in particular, are garnering significant attention. “We are talking to a lot of these groups for offshore wind. These are huge projects. It is fascinating,” he added. The increased openness in the energy sector and government efforts to streamline the regulatory process have created a favorable environment for large-scale investments.

Government initiatives aimed at infrastructure development have also been crucial in attracting foreign investments. Recent policy changes, including amendments to the Public Service Act and Renewable Energy Act, have facilitated greater foreign participation in key sectors like energy, telecommunications, and transportation.

“These reforms are making it easier for foreign companies to come in and invest in critical areas, such as renewable energy. The government is taking steps in the right direction,” Francisco commended.

These policy advancements align with broader objectives to enhance the ease of doing business, boost infrastructure, and promote energy security and sustainable development. With foreign investments and government support, the Philippines’ renewable energy sector is positioned as a pivotal driver for meeting future energy demands and spurring economic growth.

Francisco’s remarks at the summit highlighted growing confidence in the Philippines’ economic outlook and emphasized the importance of infrastructure, especially renewable energy, in achieving sustained growth.

Dominion Holdings’ 9M 2024 net earnings at ₱171 million

Dominion Holdings, Inc. (DHI, previously BDO Leasing and Finance, Inc.) reported a net income of ₱171 million for the first nine months of 2024, down from ₱205 million during the same period in 2023.

In May 2024, the company distributed ₱3.2 billion in cash dividends, which decreased the funds available for investment and led to lower income from these investments. This dividend payout also reduced Total Assets and Stockholders’ Equity from ₱6.3 billion a year earlier to ₱3.3 billion.

I was skeptical about watching the sequel. The first movie (Hello, Love, Goodbye) delivered a heart-wrenching yet satisfying conclusion, so I wondered if there was more left to explore. But here we are, diving back into a story of love and pain. This film reminds us just how complex relationships can be, especially when distance and dreams come into play.

Alden’s Performance: Sad Eyes That Speak Volumes

Alden Richards truly brought a sense of weariness and depth to his character. His expressions, especially those sad eyes, conveyed the struggle and exhaustion that many OFWs feel. The pain etched on his face was palpable, making it easy for the audience to connect with his journey.

Kathryn Bernardo: A Beauty in Every Scene

As always, Kathryn Bernardo dazzles on screen. Even in scenes where she’s teary-eyed, her beauty shines through, adding depth and realism to her character. Her performance in Hello, Love, Again was nothing short of captivating, and fans of Kathryn will surely appreciate her role in this film.

A Bed Scene Done Tastefully

Yes, there’s a bed scene, but it’s executed with such subtlety and class that it’s neither excessive nor uncomfortable. Kathryn and Alden's chemistry makes these moments feel real and authentic, adding to the film’s appeal.

The Challenges of OFW's

The plot of Hello, Love, Again does have its intense moments. Some parts felt a bit exaggerated—every problem seems to fall on these characters like an avalanche! But considering the challenges OFWs often face, the story does manage to strike a chord. It’s a reminder of the hardships that love and distance bring, even if some situations feel larger than life.

Joross Gamboa’s Lighthearted Touch

Thankfully, Joross Gamboa brings in a dose of humor with his witty banter and jokes, balancing the heavy moments. His comedic timing made certain scenes lighter, offering the audience a break from the intense emotions running through the film.

BDO Foundation and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) have collaborated with several local government units (LGUs) to launch initiatives designed to enhance the financial literacy of government staff and local residents.

In Odiongan, Romblon, the foundation, and BSP held a three-day training-of-trainers program, targeting local government officials, cooperative members, and community representatives. This training was intended to equip participants with valuable financial knowledge that they could then share with their communities, empowering Odiongan residents to make informed financial choices.

Odiongan Mayor Trina Firmalo-Fabic encouraged participants, saying, “Today is a day not just for learning but also for empowering others through financial education. Echoing our goal to uplift the lives of every Odionganon, let us appreciate the importance of fin ed as a tool that can help our community reach bigger goals.”

The training covered various financial literacy topics, including financial planning, budgeting and saving, debt management, basic investing, and digital financial literacy.

“There is strength in numbers. We hope to continue conducting these sessions and create a multiplier effect across local communities—to share knowledge that is not only engaging and informative, but also inspiring,” said BSP Economic and Financial Learning Office Director Marianne Santos.

Capacity-building at the LGU level is essential to BSP and BDO Foundation’s broader strategy to strengthen financial education nationwide. This training in Odiongan is one of the many efforts led by the partners to raise financial literacy among Filipinos.
