Join Nick and award winning wildlife photographer Nick Garbutt on a bespoke workshop safari in Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park, one of Africa’s finest wildlife areas, in December 2013 (dates and full details to be confirmed). Combining morning and afternoon game drives (when light conditions and wildlife activity are at their best) with practical demonstrations and tuition in field sketching, sculpture and photography, the aim will be to inspire participants towards a new appreciation of wildlife and help them translate what they see in the field into photos and field sketches and then finally into finished pieces of photographic or three-dimensional art. Wildlife Artist of the Year 2012

The Wildlife Artist of the Year 2012 exhibition will be held between 22 and 26 May at London’s Mall Galleries. Entry is free and Nick has four pieces appearing in this fabulous showcase of international wildlife art, bringing together the best of the competition entries with work from Three Generations of the Shepherd family and special artist friends, including Masai botanical artist Riziki Kateya. You can view and buy art from established and exciting new artists at a week of wildlife art on The Mall.

New Work May 2012

Nick has recently completed a series of British wildlife sculptures, including baby hare (leveret) sculptures, some new fox sculptures and some otter sculptures. Also featured this month are lion sculptures and honeybadger sculptures. As always, you can view all the latest photos in the Portfolio. Nick is always happy to accept commissions on any animal sculpture, whether she has made it before or not, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch if your favourite animal is not featured. Every piece is a one-off and Nick will send you regular photo updates as your animal sculpture takes shape. Competition Shortlist Announced

We are excited to announce that all of the animal sculptures submitted by Nick to the 2012 Wildlife Artist of the Year competition have been shortlisted, including the elephant sculpture shown below. This means that Nick’s animal sculptures will again feature in the exhibition to be held at the Mall Galleries, London, 21-26 May. Nick won the Open category of the competition in 2010. New animal sculptures by Nick Mackman released in March include the snowy owl sculpture shown below. She has also completed a new lion cub sculpture and another of her ever popular dog sculptures. Every piece is made to order and Nick will provide you with regular photo updates by email, giving you feedback on your animal sculpture and a unique input into the creative process. Fauna Exhibition

We are pleased to announce the launch of the new Nick Mackman website. We have completely rebuilt the site from the ground up using a new responsive design. This should ensure the site displays well on any platform, including mobile devices. The News pages now have built-in feeds from Facebook and Twitter. We have also included ‘Like’ and ‘Share’ buttons (as displayed below this post) on the main news and porfolio posts. We hope you like it.

Nick has a new Facebook page, where she regularly posts notes and images about her work and activities. You have probably already noticed that we have embedded her Facebook feed into the News sidebar, so you can see what’s going on. You can also follow her on Twitter (see the page footer for links). You will particularly enjoy this if you like to see behind the scenes, as Nick posts lost of photos from the studio, showing new animal sculptures in the making. We are working on some other ideas too, including video, so make sure you bookmark these pages or subscribe to her feed.

BBC Wildlife Photo Awards 2011

The winners of the 2011 BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition have been announced. Nick is delighted to announce that she was again commissioned to make a series of trophies for the award winners. As in previous years, her trophies were based on the award winning photographs.
