My Marathon experience, or how I kept running... And yes you can still donate

10 weeks ago I could run 6 miles on a good day.

On Saturday morning I landed from Lagos and at around 10am Sunday I passed the start line of the London Marathon.

The first 5 miles are always hard then you ease into it. At the halfway point it takes determination to keep going especially as a lot started to walk then. Around mile 18 your body starts to stiffen and you feel like slowing down. When I got to mile 20, my body wanted me to just stop up and rest a bit which took some willpower to ignore. By mile 24 everything in you is screaming to stop, but I knew if I did that I would never get started again and it would be a long slow depressing hobble to the finish. I was almost in tears crossing the finish line, couldn't believe I actually did it without any stops or walking on the way.

The highlights were definitely crossing Tower Bridge and running past Cutty Sark, but also all the people shouting my name and cheering me on, not forgetting the numerous steel drum bands, the 20 piece Jazz orchestra and the Gospel choir as well as all the pubs who had music blasting outside, especially the pub somewhere on Isle Of Dogs blasting Firestarter with old geezers raving on the tables while shouting my name and cheering us all on. On the way I passed a Hulk, a Wonderwoman, two Supermen, a Spiderman, a Rino, a Womble, a signal tower and a Caterpillar.

And special thanks to my support team Tine and Sue who was cheering me on and helped me change my shoes at the end as I couldn't bend down to get them off.

Without having done anything like this before the London Marathon must be the greatest in the world, so much support from everyone that along the route called out my name and cheered me on which made me go the extra mile.

Would I do it again? Hells yes!!!

Ok I'm done writing this, now how do I get up? Tine?! Tiiiine!!! Erm, looks like I might be on the internet for a while…
