Bill Maher is having a field with the polygamy issue and this image was the result.

I checked out the official site through MSN Ireland who obviously purposely put a bogus link  on their news story, not surprising really, the bad quality of their stories is either due to a crap filtering system on behalf of HR hiring writers or a blatant case of nepotism. Forgive me, maybe I was too harsh, perhaps it’s just due to the fact that it is a one-sided conservative promoting sludge pipe! IMHO

Anyway, the opinion of the “common” people seems to be of no importance to this campaign. Neither the main campaign website nor the “cheerful” youtube video allow any form of commentary. You know why? Because they would be told exactly how Joe Blow feels about their shenanigans. The jingly new age music video containing a fast moving PowerPoint presentation especially written for morons only adds insult to injury. Disabling comments about the video Youtube is  pretty lame and cowardly.

The old tricks are losing their shine lads so stop trying to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes. Or will it be a repeat performance of the Lisbon treaty where the country shouted a resounding “NO” only to be bullied into what I consider an illegal arm twisting revote.

This is neither a “for” nor “against” statement but just an observation noticing how closed the “debate” is and how little opportunity is afforded the public in openly expressing their opinions on this very important topic.

I just decided to ramble on a bit and without apologizing mean nobody no harm…lol…yes it was intentional. ;o)

So…you might be inclined to think “what a pretentious bollocks”….fair enough…but who isn’t? Everyone seems to have an assortment of masks in their wardrobe to suit every occasion…it’s the way we were brung up! lol The “look at me I mean what I say mask” for example is great at convincing people that your point of view is valid. Or the good old “solemn sadness I feel your pain mask” implies empathy. So if you find that insulting then leave or if not leave a comment. But I feel like indulging myself. )

Having waded for years through a tsunami of ideas which have tried to answer my seemingly big question I finally broke it down to a few words. Although you may find my answer naive, I had to get to the core which was staring me in the face all along. When you peel away all the theater and games we all play every day then the solution is extremely simple. We are here to reproduce. End of story. Everything else is icing on the cake. As much as my ego would like me to believe in a greater purpose, there is none. It is just so blatantly obvious when you look at it. Politics, the arts, science, work etc. are simply diversions. The main reason we are here is to bear fruit and give it a good head start in life and then to die with grace. I was lying in bed this morning thinking about fruit…zoinks…here we go…and I thought about how apples have everything they need to regenerate. They are sealed with a protective coat on the outside which seals in the pulp until it rots into compost and fertilizes the seeds inside which then obviously grow into a new tree. Congrats Nigel….10 points for pointing out the bloody obvious. Maybe, but it has changed my whole perspective in life, the fear that I was carrying has just melted away. The simplicity of it makes my life so much easier now that I don’t have to focus on the bullshit. This is not intended to be a sermon and I am sorry if it comes across preachy but I really feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders not that I don’t have to over think things. Of course I have to continue to work and integrate because the game goes on (even more so now) but everything is becoming less heavy. And even though I don’t fancy dying immediately I won’t be afraid when it comes.

Like I say, I’m just having a good ramble so feel free to join in. This is just something that has made me feel lighter and feels like a quantum jump for me. Agree, knock it, ignore me lol whatever…. )

How this will affect rankings within the search engines remains to be seen. Up to now the .com variant has been proven to be the strongest extension for achieving placings and is definitely the most well known for most internet users. In fact, any business up to now would always try to get a brand / keyword in the hostname and a .com extension. This has always led to initial priority for the domain name. A sort of leg up, if you like before the SEO process is initiated. It also allowed the search engines to prioritize websites semantically for ranking (indexing) and giving pagerank authority based on other factors such as SEO. (I apologize for the simplicity but this is not an SEO article)

So what is going to happen, will chaos ensue?

I don’t know about chaos but sitting in bed this morning thinking about the possibilities certainly caused a few giggles.

How exactly will Google and the other search engines measure the relevance of content or allocate strength to these new domain extensions when semantics come into play? In the internet marketing world folks have been trying to create software to produce original content of a high level from scratch but the complexity of  language structure has always made this task impossible as the results lack that human touch and sound like gibberish. So how much more complicated will it be for the search engine algorithms to decipher the true nature of content linked to these new domain extensions.

It all seems relatively straight forward, harmless  and self explanatory, but is it really?

Think about these two domain names “boston.terrier” and “terrier.boston”.

The meaning may seem obvious but which part will the search engines allot the most weight?

Will it be the hostname or the extension?

The onpage content for these domains would probably make it clearer to the spiders and although Google has been focusing more on content recently with their last 2 monumental shakeups other engines have always focused less on the domain name as a key to relevance.

Also, will the number of cease and desist letters go through the roof or will the same “soft” rules apply to extensions that now applies to the hostname? I can see the introduction of much stronger regulation concerning this issue over the next couple of years.

So lets say hypothetically I was purchasing the domain names for the company XYZ.

So suppose I buy support.xyz, sales.xyz, store.xyz but I forget to buy, say, jobs.xyz and a squatter buys it as an investment knowing that my firm has probably forgotten to buy it, where does that leave me legally. (In reality, I believe that the domain squatters are well aware of the impending avalanche of names available next year and will buy as many as possible when the floodgates open)

Come to think of it, this could be a great niche to work for the next 6 months. Advising companies to be prepared to purchase their online real estate ASAP in 2012. But lets not digress….

I have some great ideas in mind as to how I can use these new names and look forward to doing all kinds of testing on these new babies.

I live in Essen Germany and the thought that made me giggle most was the domain names “essen.menschen” and “menschen.essen”. (german words menschen=people and Essen is a city name but it also means “to eat”) So the first domain name would be great for people meeting in the area and the second might be good for a cannibal cult! LMAO

The only way I can see these new domains working is if  the content on the pages is the only factor taken into account but this is probably a naive perspective considering the preference I believe will be given to specific brand related extensions. I have only touched the tip of the iceberg here but hope it is food for thought and would seriously suggest you consider the effects of these new changes.

I quickly realized that in order to build an online business there are numerous skills you need to acquire unless you have extensive capital to outsource the many tasks involved.
