Lina and Tim have a wonderful garden, full of beautiful flowers and atmosphere — a perfect place for an early morning summer portrait. I arrived at their home on Friday morning, was warmly welcomed, and during our chatting while I was preparing for their session, learned that their wedding anniversary was on Sunday. Congratulations on your many, many years together.

They were just a dream couple to photograph so here are just a couple of my favs..

After the session, we had coffee and wonderful Greek cookies. I also heard all about Karyn & John and the accomplishments of their daughter, Niccoda, and son, Aiden. (They were just babies the last time I saw them.) Lina and Tim are so proud of their grandchildren and their entire family.

We had a beautiful afternoon for their portrait session and with great help from one of their friends who sat and played with Lillian once her first photo session was completed, we had a great deal of fun at one of our favourite locations for portraits — Sunnydale Park in Barrie.

Saturday, July 10th was beautiful — sunny, hot and just an absolutely great day for a wedding at the Dalewood Golf & Curling Club in Cobourg, Ontario. It’s a great venue for a wedding and reception. Michelle Heron was my second shooter/assistant for their day. (Thanks, Michelle, great job!)

We had a ball with everyone — their bridal party was phenomenal to work with (thanks again for being such good sports!) in spite of the heat in the afternoon when we had them all over downtown Port Hope for photos.

Hi Gail,

The planning is coming along at a crazy and fast pace… Now that school is out for me, my time has been completely shifted to wedding planning. I don’t think we got a chance to tell you, but matt and I just bought a B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L new condo just around the corner from our current place. The best part of it is a fantastic 280 sq. foot terrace that overlooks the queen street and beyond treetops. We are so thrilled!

We chose the picture of us on our current rooftop, CN tower in the background, to use for personalized wine labels that are being gifted to all those coming for the weekend. I can’t tell you how thrilled I am with the shots you have taken. It’s truely been memorable!

We had an absolutely wonderful time “celebrating the dress” and Jennifer had so much fun (and the dress survived beautifully after the dip in the lake — took 2 days to dry!) that she wants to do it again!

Helping Get Poppa Don's Boat Ready for Launching

Lincoln really wanted to help Poppa Don get the boat ready for launching so he help put away the life jackets, the ropes and the survival kit.

Lincoln then thought it would be a good idea if Gramma got up in the boat too but by then all the work was done so I just kept snapping a few shots.

Getting Ready for a Swim

It was a little cool with the wind but Lincoln was so looking forward to a swim so Poppa Don and Gramma got on our suits; helped Lincoln get ready and down we went to the lake for a quick dip. (And it was a quick dip.. it was pretty cold — even for our water baby!)

We had a visitor who swam up very close to us while we were in the water and as soon as we had made our way up to the cottage, Mr. Duck jumped up on the dock. Guess his feet were cold too!

Lincoln thought that Mr. Duck might be hungry so Poppa Don got some crackers ready. Lincoln (who has a fantastic throwing arm) actually got some of the crackers out so that the duck could have a snack.

All in all, it was a wonderful couple of days and we are really looking forward to our daughter, Jenn, and grandson, Lincoln, coming up a few more times over the summer! We are also really looking forward to Shaun, Brandi and Riley’s first visit later this summer as well!

Grandpa particularly wanted only a “family” celebration for this special event so all of the family – sons, daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren who were able descended on Belleville on June 12th for this event at the Ramada Inn and a great time was had by all.

Each family was charged with putting on a few moments of entertainment after the amazing buffet dinner. Some chatted about memories of Grandpa, some sang, some danced and our family played “You Are My Sunshine” on the bells. Some of the memories really hit close to home for me.. some things I’d forgotten.. some things made me laugh and some made me tear up.

We are all very blessed to be part of such a LARGE and loving family!

I am guilty of not taking enough photos of my family and very recently, my Mom turned 80 years young.  She is a vibrant, wonderful woman who raised six daughters (my fabulous five sisters) and as you can probably image — seven women in one house — got to be a little much!  Anyway, on May 16th.. my sisters who were able, turned up in Markham at Sharon’s to spend the weekend and hang out.

Montana's Singing Waitresses

We took Mom out for a fabulous dinner on Sunday night after spending a great weekend together. 

(And while we were all there, we started planning our entertainment portion for my Mom’s Dad’s 105 birthday party — coming up in a few weeks).  Thanks Mom for being a great inspiration and encouragement for helping us out with the surprise for Pop’s BIG day!

Adrianne & Dwight really wanted to do “The First Look” at the Novatel and because they wanted a more relaxed photo session, they booked us to have their photoshoot completed before the ceremony.  This allowed them to have a lot of fun before the ceremony.

Both Adrianne and Dwight are big family people and Adrianne’s niece just had to get a good look at that ring before they went off to their photo session.

We loved the idea of walking from the Novatel Hotel (the preparatory location) up to the King Edward Hotel (the wedding night space) and onto the Rosewater Supper Club which was the ceremony and party location.  Adrianne & Dwight were such fun and game for anything that would give their album an urban and sophisticated look.  We picked just a couple of images to give you the idea.

Don’t you just love these natural backdrops of the city street, the brick wall and gorgeous archway.. and the bronze wall!  Well, we cannot wait to use these location again!

Adrianne & Dwight took a few minutes out of their very busy wedding day to relax at the King Edward Hotel and we snapped a few photos in their bridal suite.

Due to completely unforeseen circumstances between Adrianne & Dwight booking NightinGail Photography and their wedding day, I was not personally able to photograph their day.  I want to thank Dwight & Adrianne again for allowing our associates (Shiri & Al from Focus Studios) to step in and beautifully photograph their day.

When they suggested possibly having their engagement photos done at Belcroft, I was thrilled because Belcroft has been undergoing a transformation to prepare for all of their new clients for 2010.  Jim and Sue were wonderful when I contacted them about photographing the first engagement session on the grounds.. so without further ado..just a few of my picks from their portrait session last Friday.  (I had a hard time selecting just a few..)  Thanks, Jennifer & Jason, for coming out and playing with NightinGail Photography and allowing me to take fabulous photographs of you both.

What absolutely amazed all of us was the new tropical blue water that runs through all of the pond water system.  Sue took the time to explain how the blue clay that is natural on the property has caused this effect.  I also fell in love with the new little cabin that is now on the property.  There is also a lot of new things happening at Belcroft which are going to be ready by the time that we photograph Jennifer & Jason’s wedding in September.

AND I cannot wait!!

Last Saturday, we had a great play date with Lincoln.  He and Poppa Don had a lot of fun on the swing and the slide.  It was a wonderful day to spend with our family!

Lincoln had to get all dressed up because he was going out with Poppa Don.  He just had to get a “good” shirt on to go out for lunch with us.

Jenn is a wonderful mom and it’s great to see her working so hard with Lincoln.  He’s grown up so much in the last few months and we are all very proud of both of them.

Our “panel” was our three writers (one in Vancouver, one in Halifax and one in.. Texas!) – all three are ladies who have been “doing weddings” for years and years. I am just the coordinating cog in the middle – but I have only contacted the THREE photos from Ontario (out of hundreds) that they all-three-of-them agreed on.

In other words, your photo was unanimously and independently considered “great” – you should be proud.. for all that the opinion of some strangers is worth, …
