The Kingdom Hearts series will be getting a proper release on Nintendo platforms this October, with Kingdom Hearts 4 also confirmed to arrive on the Switch 2 in the future.

As part of its fan event D23 this year, Disney announced a "Deep Dive into Kingdom Hearts", taking place on 15th August 2026. According to an official description, it will commemorate 25 years of the series. The first game debuted in March 2002, so the anniversary milestone is actually next year.

As part of Octopath Traveler's 8th anniversary celebrations, Square Enix has announced the latest entry Octopath Traveler 0 will be getting an update later this year.

Since the reveal of the Switch 2, there have been ongoing rumours about an updated model swapping the LCD screen for an OLED panel.

Although it seems less likely at the moment after rising costs in the tech space and even a Switch 2 price hike, a new report by ZDNet Korea claims Nintendo is currently considering applying OLED technology to its latest product in a future revision.

Last month, Square Enix released a major patch for Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles on the Switch 1 & 2.

Now, it's released another update, bumping the game up to Version 1.5.1. This patch is much smaller update and contains some adjustments to the recently added New Game + mode. A few other minor issues have also been resolved.

Square Enix has announced Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler 2 for the Switch 2, bringing two modern RPG classics to Nintendo's latest console with improved visuals and performance.

Although they're out now in Japan, a western release is due to follow on 1st October 2026. You can bag each game individually either physically (likely a Game-Key Card) or digitally for £49.99 / $59.99 each, or digitally as a bundle for £59.99 / $74.99.

Atlus has released a new video celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Persona 3, featuring remixed music and some lovely pixel art scenes.

The new arrangements have been composed by DJ VaVa, while the pixel art was created by artist Motocross Saito. It's not the most bombastic way to celebrate such a momentous milestone for the game, but it feels appropriate. The Persona series has always been known for its exceptional presentation, and Persona 3 is no different. The vibes here are frankly off the scale.

For those interested, PS5 expectedly took the lion's share of sales at 84%, with Xbox trailing at 15% and PC netting only 1%. Though Cygames has always been a mobile game developer, the company has historically been pretty good about supporting its games with some excellent console-focused spinoffs. Shadowverse got Shadowverse: Champion’s Battle, Battle Champs got Little Noah: Scion of Paradise, and Dragalia Lost got… oh.

Though the company’s popular Granblue Fantasy mobile RPG is still going strong over ten years after its debut, it got its own spinoff in 2024 with Granblue Fantasy: Relink. Now that it’s been reinvigorated with the launch of a shiny new expansion, Cygames has ported it to the Switch 2 as Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Endless Ragnarok. I’m pleased to report that it fits perfectly with the portable hardware, combining thrilling action, tons of replayability, and beautiful graphics to make for an RPG adventure that I’d suggest picking up at your earliest convenience.

The free-to-play co-op third-person looter shooter Warframe, which made its debut on the Switch 2 in March, held its 11th TennoCon Celebration this week, sharing multiple announcements.

Developer Digital Extremes unveiled the next major narrative chapter 'Warframe: Tau', a new Warframe, Brysko, Warframe's first card mini-game, new enemy faction & environment, and new music. The title also now has a Fortnite collab, with the Void joining Epic's popular battle royale universe, allowing players to earn an Excalibur skin.

The relaxing life-sim Pokémon Pokopia has been a surprise hit for the Switch 2, but it apparently wasn't forecast by Koei Tecmo to be as successful as it's been in terms of sales.

Company president and CEO Hisashi Koinuma recently spoke to Famitsu about the game, claiming "there weren't any real expectations" attached to the title "before launch". However, the team at Omega Force supposedly had the intention and "aim" of making it the best-selling spin-off in the Pokémon video game series.

Atelier Yumia got released on the Switch 2 last month alongside a paid upgrade for the existing Switch version.

Last month, Nintendo teased a brand-new Lego Donkey Kong set via the Nintendo Today app. In an update, it seems we've now got our first look via a leak.

According to a photo doing the rounds online, this new set is based on the classic 'Donkey Kong Arcade' video game. It will apparently be arriving in August for $200 USD and contains 1,367 pieces.

Square Enix has just released a new patch for The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales on Steam, with a promise to bring it to consoles in the near future.

There isn't a great deal to go through here, but one of the key improvements includes a new option to disable the voice support completely. This has proven to be a major bugbear with players since the game's launch, so it's nice to see Square Enix take the feedback on board.

Remember the original trailer for Pokémon Go? Well if not, go ahead and refresh yourself, it's right above. Released on 10th September 2015, it ended with a pretty ambitious fantasy in which a whole bunch of players descended onto Times Square, New York to take on Mewtwo.

Well, it's a fantasy no more. As covered by VGC, Pokémon GO celebrated its 10th anniversary by recreating the end of the trailer, taking over a bunch of billboards in Times Square and inviting hundreds of players to capture a special version of Mewtwo only available at the event.
