Review: LumenTale: Memories Of Trey (Switch) - A Refreshing, If Jarring, Take On Black & White-Era Pokémon

Nostalgia hit.

Late at night, I’m huddled up in bed with my Switch 2 millimetres from my face, when suddenly it feels like I’m being slapped with a Ratatouille flashback. My mind is flung back in time to the days of late evenings fervently exploring Pokémon Black and White, to weekends huddled in front of my TV playing Xenoblade on Wii, and countless hours helping Tidus explore Spira.

While swimming in this nostalgic bliss, suddenly I’m yanked back to the present as I navigate infuriatingly slow menus, tackle manic controls, or spend another 30 mins lost, just wandering around different buildings. This is where LumenTale sits for me: a game so good at evoking nostalgic feelings, but then slamming the brakes on the experience with small, jarring issues.

Read the full article on nintendolife.com

Video: Xenoblade Chronicles Compared Across Wii, 3DS, Switch, And Switch 2

It's Reyn time, again.

Nintendo dropped a lovely surprise during its most recent Direct showcase when it confirmed that not only will the mainline Xenoblade Chronicles series receive Switch 2 Editions across the board, but the first is out now.

Yes, Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is available and boasts 4K visuals when docked alongside 60fps performance. It looks absolutely lovely, and it's a huge step up from the dodgy upscaling seen in Xenoblade Chronicles X.

Read the full article on nintendolife.com

Feature: Six Things That Need To Change In The Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Remake

And one that MUST stay the same.

Until earlier this year, I'd not really considered what I'd want to see in a Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. After all, the 2011 3DS version did a pretty good job at updating the 1998 original, and so I'd operated under the assumption that it wouldn't be a thing again for a long, long time.

Alas, it's real. Ocarina of Time will be "reborn" on Switch 2 later this year, with our first brief glimpse at Link suggesting the most realistic depiction of Hyrule and its residents that we've seen so far.

Read the full article on nintendolife.com
