Governor Jim Doyle signed Senate Bill 123 - 2009 Wisconsin Act 55 (Oct 28, 2009; PDF | 33 KB) which furthers protects against invasive aquatic species by establishing statewide enforcement and increasing Department of Natural Resources authority requiring seaplanes, watercraft, vehicles or boats to remove attached aquatic plants.

Acting Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding offered homeowners some suggestions on how to keep out unwanted pests, including the brown marmorated stink bug, multicolored Asian lady beetle, and the boxelder bug. More information on these and other species is available at local Penn State Cooperative Extension Offices, or on Penn State’s entomology Web site, and the Pennsylvania Invasive Species Council.

The day-long seminars will help attendees identify EAB, learn the early signs of an affected tree and how state and federal quarantines are implemented once EAB is confirmed in a community.

Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program.
The Department of Defense's (DoD) Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP), is seeking to fund environmental research and development in the Sustainable Infrastructure focus area. The development and application of innovative environmental science and technology supports the long-term sustainability of DoD’s installations and ranges, as well as significantly reduces current and future environmental liabilities. The Sustainable Infrastructure focus area concentrates on natural resources, cultural resources, and the sustainable management of DoD facilities.
Closing Dates: For the Core solicitation, pre-proposals from the non-federal sector are due Jan 7, 2010, and federal proposals are due Mar 11, 2010. All SEED proposals are due Mar 11, 2010.
