Nityananda ! Gauranga Hare Krishna !

Following is from Jaiva Dharma-

The eternally perfect and eternally liberated souls who have sweetness first and mercy second reside in Lord Krsna’s abode. They are Lord Krsna’s associates. The eternally perfect and eternally liberated souls who have mercy first and sweetness second reside in Lord Gauranga’s abode. They are Lord Gauranga’s associates. Some souls manifest two forms and reside in both abodes simultaneously. Other souls manifest only one form and are present in one of the abodes and not in the other.

This means that since Swamiji is presently living in Puri and not Vrindavan his quality of mercy dominates his quality of sweetness. However I would say his sweetness is also equal as he also worships Radha and Krishna and is thus also going to enter Vraja Dham

Sri Nityananda Prabhu Never Gets Angry

akrodha paramananda nityananda raya
abhimana shunya nitai nagare bedaya

adhama patita jivera dware dware giya
harinama maha mantra dena bilaiya

jare dekhe tare kahe dante trina dhori?
amare kiniya laha bhaja gaurahari

eta boli? nityananda bhume gadi jaya
sonara parvata jena dhulate lotaya

hena avatare jara rati na janmilo
locana bole sei papi elo ara gelo

TRANSLATION

1. Lord Nityananda Raya never gets angry. He is always in ecstasy, supreme bliss. He has no false ego. He wanders to every town and village in Nadia chanting Hare Krishna, dancing, and offering krsna-prema (love of Krishna) to everyone indiscriminately.

2. Sri Nitai goes to every doorstep and knocks on the door, ?Tap! Tap!Tap!? He goes to those who are very much distressed, degraded, and fallen. He goes to them and gives them krsna-prema. He says, ?Please Chant! Please Chant! ?: hare krishna, hare krishna, krishna Krishna, hare hare / hare rama, hare rama, rama rama, hare hare. If they do not chant and shut the door, then He rolls there on the ground and cries!

3. Whomever He meets, catching a straw between His teeth, He begs, ?0 Brothers! Please do the bhajana of Sri Gaurahari and purchase Me, purchase Me, purchase Me.?

4. Saying this, Lord Nityananda rolls on the ground in the dust, cries, and sheds tears, looking like a mountain of gold rolling on the ground.

5. Such a merciful incarnation is Lord Nityananda. If someone doesn?t develop love for such an incarnation as Sri Nityananda-Rama, Locana says, ?Such a sinful person wastes his life, remaining in the cycle of birth and death. He cannot be delivered.?

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! To everyone on NITAAI Yoga community, I thank you all for having contributed towards the growth and preaching of the pure devotional teachings of the Lord and our acharyas with your wonderful services and offerings on this site.

What follows is an absolutely brilliant idea given by Sriman Hadai Nityananda dasa prabhuji for the most wonderful Vyasa Puja offering that we can offering to Swamiji….

This Vyasa Puja he is planning to make a collection called THE BEST OF NITAAI YOGA that has the most memorable material present on this site, etc? Regarding this I request all devotees who have posted on this forum to look at their own posts which they had contributed in the past and choose the very best among them that is very dear to their heart and is most memorable to them. This represents the really finest of all your contributions.

We plan to put all of them together into a garland of offerings which we can all offer to Swamiji on his Vyasa Puja day today. It?s the least we can do for our beloved guruji today as disciples and we certainly owe him this.

So all of you click on your usernames in any of your posts and find all your posts and choose the best among them, posts that were really appreciated, posts with nice content. Copy all the links to those posts and paste them as a reply in this thread. Do not worry about whether it is so great or not so great, feel free to put up all the links to whatever contributions you feel are among your best ? in this thread and we will add them and offer it all to Swamiji. It is meant to be the best birthday gift for a guru.

Dear Guruji,

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! All Glories to you and all Glories to Nitai Gauranga!

So much i want to write an offering for Your Vyasa-puja. But never can I find words ? as usual, when it is needed I turn into a fool, who can not pronounce even a word. It is very difficult to describe how much I am grateful to you for everything what you have done. Even though, I feel myself as a burdan, as a bag with bricks behind your back… You always showered your mercy upon me and encouraged me like a loving father.

Without you… i probably never ever would develop attachment to Nityananda and Gauranga. When you appeared in my life I was about to leave Krishna Consciousness, and turn back to my ?dark past?. I was longing for pure emotions, pure devotion and not even hoping, that someone somebody would answer my questions. Then i met you. And I didn?t even notice, at what moment I did become your disciple. The rest was only formalities. Lord did everything as usually ? as He wants. I was thinking, that I will go away from Him, but He didn?t let go. I was thinking, that even if happens so, that I ever will have a Guru, I will choose him by mind… it happened exactly opposite. What I can do is only to humbly stay at your feet and praise the moment i have met you.

It is not possible to move forward in Krishna Consciousness without a guidance. And the Guide found me to bring away from the miserable material existance. That is you, dear Swamijee. Only Lord knows, how much I am happy, that i have met you once and that you accepted me. By only your sincere wish i have accepted Nityaananda and Gauranga and now I feel more and more taste to their wonderful Names.

Please, Maharaj, on your Vyasa-Puja… I want to wish that by your causless mercy Nityaananda and Gauranga dance in ecstasy in hearts of many many many people.

Dear Swami Gaurangapada Gurudeva,
Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! Please accept my most respectful obeisances at Your Lotus Feet.

The day of Your Vyasa Puja is always an opportunity for me to recollect the beginnings of my devotional life, the time when i came across Yourself on the internet, as well as what important role do You play in my devotional life.

As is the case of all Your wonderful disciples, who are especially thankful to You for Your unfathomably confindential and potent gift of Nityananda Gauranga Naam, i am not an exception.

As i am recollecting the time You kindly give me shelter, some five years back, i can remember how unprepared, sinful, conditioned and ignorant i was, yet You still accepted me without any second thought and took me under Your protection as well as the protection of Nityananda Gauranga Naam. As the time passes by and i feel myself like still being on the same point, still struggeling with the same problems, i am realizing more and more that it is only Your causeless mercy and the causeless mercy of Nityananda Gauranga Naam which keeps me on the track, somehow…

Some time back i wrote an article about how Nityananda Gauranga Naam is accepted and relished by the conditioned as well as liberated. i am happy to see that nowadays there are more and more wonderful, advanced devotees, like Your dear disciples, who keep on relishing the confindential nectar of Nityananda Gauranga Naam, despite of their eligibility for Hari Naam Bhajan. It gives me encouragement and faith. Faith that Nityananda Gauranga Naam is the Ultimate Truth, as it is in the case of Hare Krishna Naam too.

Lords Shri Shri Nityananda Gauranga and Their Holy Names advented to deliver the most fallen, souls who otherwise would not have other possibility for spiritual advancement. Without any duplicity, i can confirm that with my own experience and example. Considering my continuous ups and downs, incompetence in following the rules and regulations of devotional service and also my offending and sinful nature, somehow i feel proud of being the vivid evidence for the unparalleled, incomprehensible, all-saving compassion and love of Lords Nityananda Gauranga, Their Holy Names and most importingly of Their Purest Servants like Yourself, which is being showed towards such an unqualified soul like myself.

i know that it is the nature of the Compassionate to always have mercy with the weak and fallen. This is the only hope keeping me alive in devotional life. And i hope that someday i can actually become the proper recipient of the ultimate mercy You are so unrestrictedly willing to give for complete surrender…

Dear Guruji,

Nityananda! Gauranga! Hare Krishna! My humble pranams!

Words are totally powerless to describe your causeless mercy on fallen sinners like ourselves. I admit my total foolishness in having no realization about this so what power do I have to describe it? Since the day I received your mercy my whole life has changed and the whole spiritual world is eager to take us in because you have accepted us. You have kept me engaged in your service of your most valuable projects and in this I may have fumbled and made so many errors, but yet you always happily accepted whatever I could do and you expressed so much happiness in your words like a father who is so happy to see his little children trying to walk even though they may fumble many times.

In this way you have not only given, but you have also allowed me and all of us to give you something in return. I have zero power to describe your genius in bringing the mantrarajas Nityaananda and Gauraanga and elevate our chanting of Hare Krishna to a class in itself. Although we have said this again and again, we will continue to say it forever as we know we don’t appreciate this achievement enough. In this whole material world, there is never a more sublime process of devotion than chanting Nityananda Gauranga and it is to your credit that you have revealed this to this world and you have given the living entities their biggest spiritual opportunity. Although these teachings had been there all along and were known, yet since the time of Lord Chaitanya’s incarnation, these were kept hidden by our acharyas. But no more of that — those days are now gone. The secret of all secrets is out. It is your greatness that you have recognized the implications of chanting these Holy names and have revealed this to the world, inspite of all opposition you may have faced about which we can only speculate as we have received it freely sitting in our chairs.

In this Vyasa Puja, I intend to give back whatever little I can give for all that you all have given me. Till now I have simply taken and I have simply thanked you with empty words. But this time I will definitely try to reciprocate your love not just in words, but also in deeds. Let us all use today as an opportunity to remember the infinite debt we owe to our guru and try to repay it as far as possible. So I stop my eulogies here and then think about realizing my position as a soul surrendered at your lotus feet and recognize my responsibilities. I think nothing can please a guru more than to see his disciples sincerely follow the spiritual path and make as much advancement as they can with the best of their ability, so I pray to commit myself to this task.

The least I can do is to pray that the 3 kings of all mantras : Nityananda, Gauranga and Hare Krishna should reach as many souls in creation as possible and work their magic on them. I am sure that among everything, this desire is dearest to your heart and so we all pray that it should become a reality. Happy appearance day Swamiji! Our love and prayers are always with you.

You are pure devotee, true follower of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. You gave us Nitaai and Gaura Naam and perfect example of pure devotion.

During last year I learned one important point – that all theories and knowledge withouth practice is worth nothing. Also all my words are empty withouth acts, withouth practical service. In previous year I done nothing for you and I am felling very sad. You gave me everything – I did not offer nothing to you.

O gurudeva,
Who can understand your glories?

You gave me Nitaai and Gaura Naam,
and came here to pick me up,
to the place where I truly belong.

But, alas, I am servant of lust,
attached to my family and wordly duties,
nothing more then materialistic charlatan.
Therefore I must consider myself to be real cheater,
fallen and fully covered with maya.

Dearest Gurudev, on such an auspicious occasion of your Vyasa Pooja day please accept my repeated dandavat pranaams. I feel one of the most fortunate souls in the world to be your disciple. If I was not accepted by you then I am sure I would be eternally trapped in this material world. Even after hearing so many of my incapabilities you never got strict with me. You always politely kept encouraging me. Infact when I met you for the first time via internet, just a few days before I had shown an intense desire to Lord Gaura Krishna about meeting a pure devotee like you. After meeting you I was surprised to know that such a magnanimous pure devotee like you still exists on earth. I instantly felt very strongly in my heart that my life would become successful if you would become my Guru. After being impressed with your realized knowledge, out of false ego I thought of testing you. I kept asking you unlimited questions and you so mercifully answered them all. My entire ego got broken down and then I decided I would not test a magnanimous soul like because I felt like an ant in front of you.

Without your mercy I would still be struggling in Krishna Consciousness, unaware of the blissful potency and wonders of chanting the sublime names Nityananda and Gauranga, not settled in sadhana and totally devoid of devotion and knowledge. Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to you and all the gurus who are preceding you all the way up to Lord Nityananda, Lord Gauranga and Sri Sri Radha Govinda.

On this special day of your Vyasa Puja I express my gratitude for your intense service to the tiny particles of Lord Gauranga Krishna. You know that all living entities are in essence servants of Him and your heart?s desire is to awaken the sleeping individuals to this fact. Your life?s purpose is to stir the supreme love that lies within all of us and to give us the eyes to see the beautiful pastimes of the Lord.

Your super intelligence has given us insight in what is hidden: the mantrarajas. This is the gift of all gifts. I had chanted Hare Krishna for so many years but only after I started chanting the mantrarajas along with the maha mantra everything fell in place and chanting became a pure feast. It is you who guided me from strolling down the street to riding in a rollercoaster. When real life and direct experience kicked in everything got a new meaning.

There is no other place I would rather be right now than here. You brought the spiritual world with you for your disciples and you allow us to play in your garden of grace. Many do not recognize the tremendous supremacy of the offenseless mantrarajas and therefore cannot distinguish the ultimate mission you are on. They take you for granted and see you as one of the many Swamis. It is obvious that the Lord has His own agenda and is handpicking those who can see you for who you are.

When I see and feel your absorption, when I hear the mantrarajas from your lips, my heart sings. You move the tiny shoes I have in front of your picture and you drink the water that I offer you daily. You take the offering plate with food and offer it to the Lord and you make the glorious remnants available for everybody who wants to honor prasadam. You are the touchstone that turns everything into divine nectar.

Some further comments to shed light on how one can realize that how the Holy names carry us and appear by Themselves. Also some insights into japa meditation and how to do it rightare shared. Article by by Shriman Hadai Nityananda Prabhu.

Yes it is hard to understand rationally but very easy with direct experience. The following is an easy exercise to actually experience the difference between producing and not-producing thoughts. When you close your eyes and you internalize for a minute or so, just observe, do nothing but observing. You feel some quietness, some rest, but within that quietness you will notice that thoughts are bubbling up. The thoughts are there spontaneously and you don?t have to do any effort. The thoughts are also random, you never really know the content of the thought that is arising, but one thing is for sure: they arise. This part of the exercise is to experience that thoughts arise spontaneously and there is no any effort from our part.

Now dive even deeper into the quietness where thoughts arise. Focus on the process of thoughts arising. You will find that before the thought has content there is an energy pulse. It is very subtle and it takes a few minutes to even notice, but before the thought arises containing content it is ?naked? and just an energy bubble. It is here where thoughts are still energy fluctuations of the mind, and some don?t even manifest as energy containing content, they stay below the surface of ever getting content. All the above happens spontaneously and we do literally nothing while this is happening. The same as that we do not have to do effort to make our heart beating. It just happens even when we are asleep. And when we focus on it we become aware of our heartbeat. The same is with our thought process.

So the above gives you direct experience of the thought process. Actually it gives you inside in where the root of our tongue lays which goes way deeper than the physical throat. When we want to dedicate our tongues to the Lord, when we want to control our senses which start with controlling the tongue, we have to know its root. Correction at the root is way easier than further along the road. It?s easier to change the course of the river just by its tiny source than hundreds of kilometers downstream where the river is roaring and full force. So at this source of our thoughts how can we assure that the energy of our thought will become ?Nityananda?? The answer is simple: we can?t. It is all His mercy. However what we can do is being open for His mercy. The best word I can find here is anticipation or even aspiration. When you want the Lord in your life, when you want the Lord from deep within yourself, when you cry for Him, when you deeply, deeply long for Him: He will make His entrance. He will take over your energy bubbles with His Name. So it is our deepest inner desire for the Lord that makes that He will come and shape our thoughts with His Name.

There is a tremendous difference when you just say ?Nityananda? on the surface or when Lord Nityananda enters on that subtle level at the spring of your thoughts. When He enters you absolutely recognize Him and the course of your river is entirely shaped by His will. When He enters you are His. In the practice of ASM it goes something like this: you recognize that all your thoughts are arising spontaneously and you have your awareness on that subtle level. Now the Lord?s Name ?Nityananda? comes in the same spontaneous way as all the other thoughts. There is no effort at all from our part. So look for Him at that subtle state of awareness. He will come because you have that desire. Just patiently wait.

The problem with many devotees when they do japa is: hurry. Often we try to finish our rounds within a certain amount of time and we chant against the clock. We easily drift of to other tracks of our thoughts and the holy Names are repeated on automatic pilot. The beads keep our count so we really can go anywhere with the mind in the mean time. But when we really want to chant, really connecting with the Lord, we need a different attitude. We need to get absorbed in His Names. We need to slow down. Sometimes when I do japa and I notice my mind tries to wander off, I just sing His Names an entire round. That definitely slows me down because such a round takes about four times more time. The same is with ASM. When you quickly start to think ?Nityananda, Nityananda, Nityananda? you are producing His Name. But when you take the time to sit down, become quiet, bring your focus to the subtleties within and patiently wait for Him, a whole different experience emerges. And you will instantly know the difference between producing the syllables and Him manifesting His syllables. This all happens at the root of our tongue.

Being acquainted with the subtleties of how my thoughts arise, I can connect my japa (which seems more on the surface) to this subtle plane. Real meditation only takes place when our senses are withdrawn from the many objects that distract our minds. During meditation we really want to be alone with the Supreme Object: The Lord. We cannot force Him in any way except our crying for Him. When He sees your sincere desire to be with Him, when He sees you really and deeply long for Him, He comes, He actually runs towards you and before you know your thoughts are flooded by Him. Then you will absolutely experience that you are not producing His syllables, but He is. And Lord Nityananda will bring you at the feet of Lord Gauranga, and Lord Gauranga opens the doors to Radha and Krishna right within your heart. It all unfolds spontaneously just because of our longing for Him. His mercy knows no boundaries?we can?t ?produce Him, He comes on His own accord.

Hare Krishna!
Every day i go by tram to work and from work. I wirk in part of Riga, where live all the ex-prisoners, alchoholics, place, where drugs are sold… Every time i go bu this public transport i pray Lord to not let me get infected. Every day in Riga 30-40 people get infected with a swine flu. But economics of our country is that much ruined, that government doesn’t even buy vaccine. No vaccine in whole country and most of hospitals due to recession are closed. There is only 1 hospital in the city, where they are taking people with infections. (Infectology department). Already it is full, so they send people back to home. and many people just don’t have money to visit doctor so they walk around, spreading in�fections. Flu, hepatit – these are 2 main problems here in our country. That’s all. So, thank you, Matus for your post. We don’t have anyone to help us here just in case. We just MUST fully surender to Lord .

Obeisances to all Vaishnavas,

Today I wrote to Hadai Nityananda Prabhu about a certain question about Authentic Silent Meditation of the Holy names of Nityananda Gauranga and Hare Krishna Mahamantra.� He gave a very detailed and a clear answer and he thought everyone else would benefit from this and hence he asked me to post it here. So here it is.

I summarise my question. I had a wonderful realization last week while doing Authentic Silent meditation, usually I do it I am blocked by this wall of self absorption and false ego.� In that realization I got a small glimpse that I am not the body and the mind and am a servant of Lord Gauranga Krishna and it was one of the most blissful experiences.

I thought this happened because of concentration as by concentration sattva increases(as per my meagre understanding of Patanjali Yoga Sutra) and thus that created the realization but as I tried to do the same procedure, it was not happening and the self absorption seem to increase and even my eyes started paining. So regarding this I asked him a question, what caused the expereince? how can I be fixed in that realization? And if I am going wrong in the practice. And his reply is as follows.

I am very happy to hear that you had such a wonderful realization. Yes when we see the ups and downs of life from the ‘freedom point of view’ we are the witness. It’s like sitting on the vast and quiet bottom of the ocean floor while looking up at the waves on the surface naturally going up and down: you see the turbulence, you notice it, but you remain quiet and relaxed and anchored to the vast quietness of the depth not being moved by the waves of the surface. So both perceptions are there simultaneously, but your identification is with one over the other.

The stream of thoughts will not really leave, never, you have to tolerate it. Accept everything as it occurs and never fight it. As soon as you fight you are engaged and identifying with what you fight. No, just accept it, witness it, but don’t DO anything with it. What you are experiencing are the tracks. There are many layers or tracks of thinking, almost unbroken chains of thoughts and sometimes you can experience them simultaneously. Leave them for what they are. Then they will come and go, that means you are aware and/or not-aware of them. Those are the waves on the surface. As soon a you give them special attention and you are ‘zapped’ to the surface. Let it be and you are allowed to stay where you are. Allowed! Yes…because:

?.that perfect experience you had is something that overcame you. Such an experience you cannot grab. You cannot say ‘and now I want to experience that happiness’ and it is there. No you are allowed (by the grace of the Lord) to get a glimpse of transparency in which everything turns into Him. You can never ever grab that. It is impossible. We don’t even long for it because that is in the direction of grabbing. We are not looking forward to any experience because that would only be your ego creating an (illusionary) outcome. No we are patiently allowing everything to happen and� within all that we keep our attention to be on: ‘Nityananda, Nityananda, Nityananda’. Besides ‘Nityananda, Nityananda, Nityananda’ there are the other tracks: shopping list, study material, agenda, time factor, feelings, sounds in the environment, etc. These are the ‘other layers’ and we prefer ‘Nityananda, Nityananda, Nityananda’. It’s like driving on the road…our main focus is on the road and not what flies by on the left and right.

Having said that there is one more thing: DO NOT CONCENTRATE. Gently shift your awareness, but don’t ‘hammer’ your focus. ‘Whenever your attention drifts away from ‘Nityananda, Nityananda, Nityananda’ you GENTLY bring it back to ‘Nityananda, Nityananda, Nityananda’. Sometimes that feels easy and natural, sometimes not. Those feelings are secondary tracks. The only thing you really DO is following the main track: ‘Nityananda, Nityananda, Nityananda’.

Patanjali calls this phase ‘pratyahara’ or withdrawing the senses form their objects. We do that in the form of following the Supreme Object: ‘Nityananda, Nityananda, Nityananda’. Normally darana and dyana come after pratyahara but we do them all at once. We don’t fully withdraw our senses from the objects, because that would include the Supreme Object. We don’t want to lose the Lord in the process and merge into His radiant light. No, while we withdraw our senses form the objects we do that by exclusively being with the Lord. So we focus (darana) on Him and we even go into the flow of observing His Being and Activities (dyana) and eventually we get totally absorbed in Him and His Activities (samadhi). So although our path looks similar to that of Patanjali?s there is a subtle difference: we don’t lose all objects during pratyahara, we keep One: the Lord Who in turn allows and guides us into darana, dyana and samadhi.

Very good question, good experience: just a slight adjustment. The burning eyes are because of concentration, effort, trying hard, laboring. During ASM we do less and less and more and more is happening. As long as we are occupied with ourselves al we see is ourselves; a planet of illusion. But when we follow the main track we get more and more absorbed in the Lord, our egos stepping aside allowing the Lord to take a seat. So try less and observe shifting your attention� to ‘Nityananda, Nityananda, Nityananda’. ‘Nityananda, Nityananda, Nityananda’ is the main track which we are following in the quietness of our observation. Then, in the course of the meditation all what is happening becomes more subtle, and even more subtle, and very very faint, and still we follow faithfully the process of having our attention on ‘Nityananda, Nityananda, Nityananda’. The zoom zoom on the left and right, the landscape we drive through, changes all the time, but our focus on ‘Nityananda, Nityananda, Nityananda’ is increasing tremendously and is our only ?anchor? within the turbulence of the zoom zoom left and right. Nityananda is the vehicle. In a way He invites us in His celestial car and He drives that car. We basically do nothing although it seems we ?produce? the Nityananda mantra, which is the last illusion we have created for ourselves, like His car, He being the driver, etc. but that is our last string of attachment to our imagination?He will take that away and then you fall into experiences as you described. When you go more often into these experiences you will see that every time you ?slip? into one, you did absolutely nothing and it really overcomes you. Although we want to be all the time in such an experience, it is not up to us it is up to Him. Our only concern is to make place for such a experience. The secret is that the Lord is always, any moment willing to fill you with that experience. He is knocking on your inner door all the time: ?please let Me give you this awesome experience, make room!? ASM is making space for Him to come in so He can take a seat in our hearts. As a result of this subtle training our chanting improves as well because our inner muscle to stay focussed on Him is more trained on the subtle levels.

I hope the above sheds some light on your recent experiences and gives you some insight into the subtleties of the practice of ASM. Thanks for letting me pointing out the fine line between patanjali’s way of pratyara and the bhakti way of pratyahara. Although the line is fine, the difference is huge.

Nice post Matus. You have nothing to worry about with the swine flu, it’s no stronger or more dangerous than the regular flu. The only people who are in danger of getting seriously ill are people with very weak immune systems like the sick and ederly, just like the common flu. Thousands of people die each year from the flu. The drug companies who make the vaccinations want the people to believe it is more serious because of the billions of dollars they can make.
In all honesty the exaggeration of the severity of the swine flu is downright criminal. Propaganda to scare the gullible public, it’s kali yuga after all.

Text 328-329 ?When Your formm of time destroys the entire creation, I will chant Your name and I will not be afraid. Now that You are here in my house, why should I be afraid?
Text 344 As ?Narasimha? and ?Yadusimha? (the lion of the Yadavas, are two names for the same person, so ?Nityananda? and ?Balarama? are two names for the same person. This I know.

Text 345 I sing the glories of Lord Nityananda. who is known as ?Avadhutacandra? (the moon of avadhutas), who is Lord Balarama Himself, and who is dear to Lord Chaitanya.

Madhya Khanda Chapter 3

Text 134 Even a merchant, or a lowly person, or a fool who chants Lord Nityananda?s name becomes able to purify the entire world.
Text 169 In this incarnation of the Lord some people sing the names of Lord Chaitanya, but when they hear the name of Lord Nityananda, they jump up and run away.
Text 170 They are like persons who worship Lord Krishna but do not honor Lord Siva. These sinners go to Yamaraja?s abode.

Text 171 In this incarnation Lord Nityananda is carefully hidden. Only if Lord Chaitanya Himself reveals Him can anyone see Lord Nityananda.

Text 172 Persons who, not understanding the truth, blaspheme Lord Chaitanya or Lord Nityananda find great obstacles blocking their progress in devotional service to Lord Vishnu.

Madhya Khanda Chapter 4 (Indirect)

Text 67 He voluntarily serves the Lord in many ways. If He makes one qualified, a person becomes able to serve the Lord.

Text 68 Even Lord Siva, who is very powerful, a great yogi, a great Vaishnava, and the first of the demigods, does not know the end of Lord Nityananda?s glories.

Text 69 Persons who, not understanding His very profound pastimes, criticize Lord Nityananda, find that their devotional service to Lord Vishnu becomes stopped.
Text 75 The holy name of Lord Chaitanya is very rare and difficult to find in this world. Lord Chaitanya is the life breath and the great wealth of everyone.

Madhya Khanda Chapter 5 (Indirect)

Text 1 Glory to Lord Chaitanya, who is Lord Krishna Himself, He is the lamp of Navadvipa and the lion who attacks the offenders. On a knotted string He chants a fixed number of His own holy names.

Text 111-113 Even though He is the Supreme Personality of Godhead Himself, even though He is supremely independent, even though He is the creator, maintainer, and destroyer of the material universes, even though He is all-pervading within the material universes, even though He continues to exist after all the material universes disappear, and even though the Vedas affirm that he is limitless and eternal, Lord Ananta Sesha is always delighted to serve Lord Krishna with great love.

Text 119 Please know without doubt that Lord Nityananda is Lord Ananta Sesha Himself.

Text 120 Anyone who sees that Lord Nityananda and Lord Balarama are different persons is bewildered in his heart.
Text 130 Lord Nitaai thinks : ?Anyone who offers prayers to Lord Chaitanya and to Me, and who glorifies Me as a servant of Lord Chaitanya, will certainly attain Me.?
Text 148 The scriptures affirm that a devotee who has no love and devotion for Lord Balarama is the lowest of devotees. Madhya Khanda Chapter 6
Text 139 Then Lord Chaitanya commanded Advaita, ?O Nara! Chant My holy names and dance.?

Text 193 The Supreme Personality of Godhead, the bliss of whose holy name makes Lord Siva forget his clothing, whose glories make Lord Siva dance, now personally dances.

Text 194-195 The Supreme Personality of Godhead, whose holy name made Valmiki Muni wealthy with renunciation, whose holy name made Ajamila attain liberation, and whose holy name, when heard, cuts the bonds of birth and death, has personally descended in this world. Now He dances in the Kali-yuga..

Text 196-197 The Supreme Personality of Godhead, whose holy name Sukadeva and Narada sing as they wander in this world, whose glories Ananta Sesha sings with a thousand mouths, and whose holy name is the great atonement for all sins, now personally dances. Anyone who sees Him dance became very fortunate.

Text 285 By Lord Chaitanya?s order the kirtana stopped. Roaring, the Lord revealed the truth about Himself.

Text 286 He said, ?In Kali-yuga I am Krishna. I am Narayana. I am He, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the son of Devaki.

Text 287 ?I am the master of countless millions of universes. I am the person whose names you sing. You are all My servants.

Text 288 ?Taking all of you with Me, I have descended to this world. The offerings that You make to the Deity form of the Supreme Lord are actually offered to Me.

Text 289 ?Now you should give all those offerings to Me.? Then Shrivasa said, ?Lord, everything is Yours.?

Madhya Khanda Chapter 9

Text 153 ?Come. Come, O great one. Come and see the Lord. By touching you we have made our lives glorious and perfect.

Text 154 Hearing the Lord?s name, Shridhara fainted. Overcome with bliss, he fell to the ground.

Text 229 Shridhara said, ?I don?t want that. You please become my master, and I will sing Your name.?

Madhya Khanda Chapter 10

Text 318 Please know that if even a sannyasi does not offer respect to Lord Chaitanya, then that demon sannyasi will be blind birth after birth.

Text 319 But if even a lowly creature like a bird speaks Loed Chaitanya?s name, then that bird will in truth go to Lord Chaitanya?s spiritual abode.

Madhya Khanda Chapter 12

Text 18 He said, ?Your name is Nityananda. Your form is also Nityananda, or full of eternal (nitya, bliss (ananda). You are Nityananda because You are Lord Balarama personified.

Text 19 ?With great bliss You wander here and there, You eat, and You act in different ways. There is never a time when You are not blissful.

Text 20 ?Where lives a mere human being with the power to understand You? You are eternal, spiritual, and supreme. As Lord Krishna is, so are You.?

Madhya Khanda Chapter 13

Text 175 Bewildered with wine, they said, ?What?s Your name?? Nityananda replied, ?My name is Avadhuta.

Text 204 ?Please be merciful to me. I will chant Your name. Only You, and no one else, can deliver me.?

Text 251 ?Glory, glory to the Lord, the great teacher who enjoys pastimes of chanting His own holy names! Glory to Lord Nityananda, who fulfills Lord Chaitanya?s order!

Text 263 ?A sinner who kills millions of brahmanas, but then chants Your name, at once attains liberation. The Vedas affirm that this is true. (Indirect)

Text 264 ?Ajamila chanted Your holy name. Therefore it is not surprising that he attained liberation.

Text 55 Filled with love for Lord Krishna, the great-devotee demigods returned to their cities. Only Lord Chaitanya?s glories, and nothing else, was on their tongues.

Madhya Khanda Chapter 15

Text 8 When they remembered their previous violent activities, they wept and fell unconscious to the ground.

Text 9 They called out, ?Father Chaitanya, O savior of the fallen!? Remembering Lord Chaitanya, they wept again and again.

Text 68 ?Anyone who worships Lord Chaitanya is My very life. Yuga after yuga, I rescue him.

Madhya Khanda Chapter 19 (Indirect)

Text 116-117 A person who is not delighted by Lord Chaitanya?s glories, glories always described by the mouths of Brahma, Siva, and Goddess Lakshmi, the mother of all, has uselessly accepted sannyasa. He uselessly studies Vedanta.

Text 272 ?Dvija?, ?vipra?, and ?brahmana? are three names for the same thing. In the same way Nityananda and Balarama are different names of the same person.

Madhya Khanda Chapter 20

Text 18 Glancing at Murari, the two Lords smiled. In this way the two brothers taught Murari. Then They left.

Text 19 Waking up, Murari wept. Breathing heavily, he called out ?Nityananda!? again and again.

Text 136 If even a bird chants Lord Chaitanya?s name, that soul with go to Lord Chaitanya?s abode. That is the truth.

Text 137 If a sannyasi does not chant Lord Chaitanya?s name, that soul will life after life be born blind among wicked beings.

Text 138 He is a thief in the clothing of sannyasi. He is a blasphemer-sannyasi, a sinner.

Madhya Khanda Chapter 22

Text 47 When she took the dust from Advaita?s feet, Mother Saci became overwhelmed and fell to the ground. She was no longer in external consciousness.

Text 48 The Vaishnavas called out, ?Jaya! Jaya Hari!? They made a great tumult of chanting Lord Chaitanya?s names.

Text 135 By Lord Nityananda?s mercy I know Lord Chaitanya. By Lord Nityananda?s mercy I know the Vaishnavas.

Text 136 By Lord Nityananda?s mercy offenses are destroyed. By Lord Nityananda?s mercy one attains devotion to Lord Vishnu.

Text 139 A person who has only a little good fortune will not become Lord Nityananda?s servant, for Lord Nityananda?s servant is able to see Lord Chaitanya.

Text 140 Anyone who hears this story of Lord Visvarupa becomes a servant of the limitless Supreme Personality of Godhead. He feels that Lord Nityananda is his very life.

Text 141 Lord Nityananda and Lord Visvarupa do not have different bodies. This Mother Saci knew. Some other great souls also knew.

Text 142 Glory to Lord Nityananda, who takes shelter of Lord Chaitanya! Glory, glory to Lord Nityananda, who is thousand-faced Ananta Sesha!

Text 143 O Lord Nityananda, O king of Gauda-desa, glory to You! Who can attain Lord Chaitanya without first attaining Your mercy?

Text 144 Anyone who loses Lord Nityananda will not be happy in this life.

Madhya Khanda Chapter 23 (Indirect)

Text 43 ?If an outcaste takes shelter of Me, then he is Mine, and I am his. Know that without doubt.

Text 44 ?If a sannyasi does not take shelter of Me, then he is not Mine. I speak the truth.

Text 201 Overcome with bliss, Lord Chaitanya danced in a kirtana of His own holy names. All auspiciousness came there.

Text 329 ?The power of the Supreme Lord?s holy name made Varanasi into the king of holy places. The liberated residents of Svetadvipa always chant the Lord?s holy name.

Text 330 ?It is the power of the Supreme Lord?s holy name that made the demigod Siva worshiped by all. Now the whole world has heard chanted the Lord?s name.

Text 331 ?Renounce all sins and chant the Lord?s holy name. Worship Lord Chaitanya. Then I will not kill you.?

Madhya Khanda Chapter 24 (Indirect)

Text 69 Anyone who will not say, ?Lord Chaitanya is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the master of all?, is a sinner, and is never fit to be seen by Vaishnavas.

Madhya Khanda Chapter 26

Text 73 How handsome was Lord Chaitanya in the mood of Balarama! Gazing and gazing at Him, the devotees no longer felt any of the troubles of this world.

Text 74 Everyone gazed at His indescribable moonlike face. Very loudly He called, ?Nityananda! Nityananda!? (Lord Gaura Himself calls Nityananda)

Madhya Khanda Chapter 28

Text 173 As the fortunate sannyasi Kesava Bharati was thinking in this way, saintly Goddess Sarasvati entered his tongue.

Text 174 In this way he decided on the right name. Placing his hand on the Lord?s chest, pure- hearted Kesava Bharati said,

Text 175 ?You make the whole world chant the name `Krishna?. In this way You make the whole world alive (chaitanya, with kirtana.

Text 176 ?Therefore Your name will be `Shri Krishna Chaitanya?. Because of You everyone in the world will become fortunate.?

Text 177 When the noble sannyasi spoke these words there was a shower of flowers and a great sound of ?Jaya!?

Text 178 A great tumult of ?Hari!? filled the four directions. All the Vaishnavas floated in bliss.

Text 179 All the devotees offered obeisances to Kesava Bharati. The Lord was pleased with His new name.

Text 180 In this way the name Shri Krishna Chaitanya was manifested. Then all the servants of the Lord offered dandavat obeisances.

Text 181 In this way the glorious Lord accepted sannyasa, and in this way He revealed His name: Shri Krishna Chaitanya.

Text 192 Anyone who with his own mouth says, ?I am a servant of Nityananda? will some day see Lord Chaitanya. That is inevitable.

Text 193 Nityananda is most dear to Lord Chaitanya. I will never leave the company of the Lord?s servants.

Text 194 I worship Lord Chaitanya. Lord Nityananda gives to the whole world the gift of ecstatic love for Lord Krishna.

Text 195 Beyond this world of birth and death lies the ocean of pure devotional service. Anyone who wishes to dive in that ocean should worship Lord Chaitanya and Lord Nityananda.

Antya Khanda Chapter 1

Text 50 Taking shelter of Lord Chaitanya?s holy names and qualities, the devotees stayed always around Saci-devi. By the Lord?s mercy everyone was overcome with ecstati love. They wept and they rolled on the ground.

Text 71 All the worlds sang the names of Lord Chaitanya. Only the ghosts and demons would not sing.

Text 72 Please know that anyone who turns his face from the holy name of Shri Krishna Chaitanya is ghost or a demon.

Text 178 Hearing that His wonderful new name was ?Shri Krishna Chaitanya?, everyone called out, ?Hari! Hari!? and ?Glorious! Glorious!?

Text 188 Breathing heavily and chanting Lord Chaitanya?s name, many pregnant women crossed.

Text 189 The blind and the lame all crossed. By the power of Lord Chaitanya?s name, they all saw the way

Antya Khanda Chapter 2

Text 179 Everyone said, ?He is our master. Perhaps you have heard His name: Shri Krishna Chaitanya.

Text 180 ?We are all His servants.? When these words were spoken, tears flowed from the devotees? eyes.

Text 186 Lord Chaitanya will deliver everyone, all except the sinners who blaspheme Vaishnavas.

Text 187 Even the demons melt when they hear Lord Chaitanya?s name and virtues. Only the vilest of sinners will not honor Him.

Text 305 The Supreme Personality of Godhead, whose mantra makes His Deity forms come alive, now bore the name Shri Krishna Chaitanya.

Antya Khanda Chapter 3 (Indirect)

Text 123 He said: kalan nashtam bhakti-yogam nijam yah
pradushkartum krishna-chaitanya-nama
avirbhutas tasya padaravinde
gadham gadham liyatam citta-bhringah

?Let my consciousness, which like a honeybee, take shelter of the lotus feet of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who has just now appeared as Shri Krishna Chaitanya Mahaprabhu to teach the ancient system of devotional service to Himself. This system had almost been lost due to the influence of time.?*

Text 124-125 This verse means: May my heart stay at the lotus feet of the Lord who bears the name Shri Krishna Chaitanya and who, to again reveal the truth of devotional service to Him, a truth that by the power time had become hidden after some days, descended to this world.

Text 126 Then Sarvabhauma said: vairagya-vidya-nija-bhakti-yoga-
sikshartham ekah purushah puranah
shri-krishna-chaitanya-sarira-dhari
kripambudhir yas tam aham prapadye

?Let me take shelter of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Shri Krishna, who has descended in the form of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu to teach us real knowledge, His devotional service, and detachment from whatever does not foster Krishna consciousness. He has descended because He is an ocean of transcendental mercy. Let me surrender at His lotus feet.?*

Text 127 This verse means: To teach His devotional service and detachment from whatever does not foster Krishna consciousness, the Supreme Personality of Godhead has mercifully descended to this earth.

Text 154 Anyone who hears Lord Chaitanya?s glories crosses beyond the world of birth and death and goes to Lord Chaitanya?s spiritual abode.

Text 386 Anyone who once sings Lord Chaitanya?s name or virtues at once crosses the ocean of repeated birth and death, an ocean that becomes like a calf?s-hoofprint mud-puddle.

Text 387 Why, then, should be surprising that everyone successfully crossed the Ganga as they went to directly see Lord Chaitanya?

Antya Khanda Chapter 4 (Indirect)

Text 68 Even that Muslim king honored Lord Chaitanya. Therefore only a blind person will not honor Lord Chaitanya.
Text 69 Though they may shave their heads and wear sannyasi?s garments, these blind people burn in their hearts when they hear Lord Chaitanya?s glories.
Texts 70-72 Anyone who is not happy to hear Lord Chaitanya?s glories, glories that fill the numberless universes, glories that crush ignorance into powder, glories that make Lakshmi, Siva, Brahma, and Ananta Sesha wild with happiness, glories that the four Vedas always sing, finds that all his virtues become faults.

Text 121 ?My heart does not care whether the people are yavanas or demons. In this yuga everyone will chant My names.

Text 122 ?I will deliver the untouchables, demons, yavanas, outcastes, women, sudras, and everyone else.

Text 123 ?In this yuga I will give to everyone the devotional service that the demigods, sages, and siddhas yearn to attain.

Text 124 ?But persons intoxicated by learning, wealth, aristocrati family, knowledge, and austerity, will not become My devotees. They commit offenses.

Text 125 ?In this yuga these people are cheated. They do not understand My transcendental pastimes.

Text 126 ?In every village and country on this earth My name will be preached.
Text 130 Staying for some days in that village, Lord Chaitanya fearlessly performed the sankirtana of chanting His own holy names.

Antya Khanda Chapter 5

Text 192 King Prataparudra prayed, ?Sate me! Save me, O master of all living entities, O ocean of mercy! Please place Your glance of mercy on me, a sinner.

Text 193 ?Save me! Save me, O independent Lord who enjoy whatever pastimes You wish, O ocean of mercy! Save me! Save me, O Shri Krishna Chaitanya, O friend of the poor!

Text 194 ?Save me! Save me, O Lord before whom all the demigods bow, O beloved of Goddess Lakshmi! Save me! Save me, O only object of the devotees? love!

Text 195 ?Save me! Save me, O Lord whose form is pure and spiritual! Save me! Save me, O Lord Krishna eager to enjoy pastimes of sankirtana!

Text 196 ?Save me! Save me, O Lord whose nature, names, and virtues are beyond the understanding of mere human beings! Save me! Save me, O abode of gentleness and virtue!

Text 197 ?Save me! Save me, O Lord before whose graceful feet Brahma and Siva bow! Save me! Save me, O ornament of sannyasa-dharma!

Text 198 ?Save me! Save me, O Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu! O Lord, please give Your mercy to me! Please never leave me!?

Text 216 Effulgent and wild Lord Nityananda roamed in Jagannatha Puri.

Text 217 He was always wild, intoxicated by tasting transcendental bliss. The truth of Him is beyond human understanding. I have no power to write of it.

Text 218 He always chanted japa of the name, ?Shri Krishna Chaitanya?. Even in His dreams no other word came from Lord Nityananda?s mouth.

Text 220 It is because of Lord Nityananda?s mercy that even today the whole world sings of the Supreme Lord?s descent as Shri Chaitanya to this world.

The Sheer potency of Nityananda Gauranga Sankirtana :

Text 329 Accompanied by the devotees, Lord Nityananda sang kirtanas glorifying Lord Shri Krishna Chaitanya

Text 362 Small children, who did not know anything, uprooted big, big trees.

Text 363 Loudly roaring, they uprooted trees and threw them about. Shouting, ?I am a cowherd boy!?, they ran here and there.

Text 364 So great was the power in those small children that even a hundred men could not catch them and hold them still.

Text 365 Chanting, ?Shri Krishna Chaitanya Jaya Nityananda!?, the children joyfully roared like lions.

Text 366 Overcoime with ecstasy, Lord Nityananda, who was naturally like a child, joined the children.

Text 367 For one month those children had not eaten anything. Therefore, when the people saw all this, they felt great wonder in their hearts.

Text 436 Some people who call themselves by the name ?Chaitanya dasa? (servant of Lord Chaitanya) never, even in their dreams, chant Lord Chaitanya?s glories.

Text 478 ?Because You are eternal (nitya, bliss (ananda, personified, You bear the name `Nityananda?. You are Lord Chaitanya?s glories and virtues personified.

Text 592 Whoever worships Lord Nityananda?s feet and remembers them breaks all obstacles into pieces.

Text 623 ?Who has the power to throw me into all these calamities? Lord Nityananda is my only shelter, I have no other shelter.?

Text 626 The brahmana prayed, ?Save me! Save me! O Nityananda, O cowherd boy Krishna, O master, O protector of all living entities, please save me!

Text 627 ?A person who trips and falls to the ground takes shelter of the earth.

Text 628 ?In the same way a person who commits offenses against You must meditate on You. On then can he be delivered from his sufferings.

Text 629 ?You forgive all offenses. You are merciful to the fallen.

Text 630 ?I have killed many brahmana and many cows. O Lord, no one is a greater offender than I am.

Text 631 ?Still, even the greatest sinners may find shelter in You and break into pieces the bonds that tie them to this world of birth and death.

Text 632 ?From the moment of birth You protect the lives of the living entities, O Lord, and at the end of their lives You protect them also.

Text 633 ?O Lord, please protect me today from these dangers. If I remain alive, I will have learned my lesson.

Text 634 ?Birth after birth I am Your servant, O Lord. Whether I live or die, I only wish to be Your servant.?

Text 647 ?Save me, Father Nityananda, purifier of the fallen!?, the brahmana roared, his arms raised.

Text 692 He called out, ?Lord Nityananda! Master! Purifier of the sinners! Please give the shelter of Your feet to me, a sinner!

Text 700 In no other incarnation did the Supreme Lord act in this way. Lord Nityananda always chanted, ?Chaitanya!?

Text 704 O my brothers, please worship, please worship Lord Nityananda. By His mercy you will attain Lord Chaitanya

Antya Khanda Chapter 7

Text 12 Accompanied by His associates, overcome with bliss, and always singing of Lord Chaitanya?s names and virtues, Lord Nityananda departed.

Text 16 Streams of tears always flowed form His eyes. ?Shri Krishna Chaitanya!?, He roared.

Text 37 After some moments Lord Chaitanya folded His hands and prayed to Lord Nityananda,

Text 38 ?In both name and form You are eternal (nitya, bliss (ananda, personified. You are the home of the Vaishnavas. You are Lord Ananta Sesha. (2nd time repeated)

Text 58 ?You may give Me mercy or punishment. By chanting Your holy name, You deliver even the trees.?

Text 124 Gadadhara had no desire to see the face of anyone who criticized Lord Nityananda.

Text 125 Gadadhara Pandita would not look at the face of anyone who did not love Lord Nityananda.

A Song in Shri-raga
Text 173 Look at Lord Chaitanya! As He joyfully sings the Supreme Lord?s glories, He rolls about on the ground, and the hairs of His body stand erect. He is Lord Krishna Hismelf. He is the king of Vaikuntha. Assuming the form of a brahmana, He has descended to this world. Now He enjoys pastimes of sankirtana.

Text 174 (Refrain, kanaka jiniya kanti shri-bigraha sobhe ati
ajanu-lambita-bhuja saja re
nyasi-bara-rupa-dhar apana rase bihwal
na jani kemana sukhe nace re

His graceful body?s splendor defeats gold. His arms reach to His knees. Assuming the form of a sannyasi, He has become wild by tasting the nectar of love for a person who is actually Himself. Why does He dance so blissfully? I do not know.

Text 175 jaya shri-gaurasundar karuna-sindhu jaya jaya brindabana-raya
jaya jaya samprati jay nabadwipa-purandar carana-kamala deha? chaya

Glory to Lord Chaitanya, who is handsome and fair, and who is an ocean of mercy! Glory, glory to the king of Vrindavana! Glory, glory, glory to He who is now the king of Navadvipa! O Lord, please give me the shade of Your lotus feet.

Text 176 All the devotees sang kirtana. Meditating on Lord Chaitanya?s feet, Advaita Acarya danced.

Text 177 Hearing these new verses about the Lord?s most recent avatara, the Vaishnavas joyfully sang the names of Lord Krishna.

Text 178 How wonderful was the bliss in that kirtana! Lord Nityananda alone has the power to describe it completely.

Text 179 Hearing the loud sounds of the kirtana, Lord Chaitanya, the jewel of the sannyasis, came there.

Text 180 Seeing Lord Chaitanya, the devotees sang with even more joy, and Advaita Acarya danced with even more bliss.

Text 181 Filled with bliss, no one feared Lord Chaitanya. Everyone openly sang of Lord Chaitanya?s glories.

Text 182 In His pastimes Lord Chaitanya was always in the mood of Lord Krishna?s servant. He would say, ?I am a servant of Lord Krishna. Please do not call Me anything else.?

Text 183 No one had the power to face Him and openly call Him ?Supreme Personality of Godhead?. They could only call Him ?Lord Krishna?s servant?.

Text 184 Still, by Advaita Acarya?s power they were now fearlessly singing songs declaring that Lord Chaitanya was Lord Krishna Himself.

Text 185 Lord Chaitanya, the jewel of the sannyasis, stood for a moment and listened to the songs glorifying Him. Then He became embarrassed and fled.

Text 186 To teach everyone, Lord Chaitanya, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the supreme siksha -guru, went home when He heard others singing a kirtana glorifying Him.

Text 187 Even so, fear was not born in any heart. Now they sang the Lord Chaitanya?s glories all the more.

Text 188 External consciousness was not present in anyone?s body. Everyone saw that Lord Chaitanya was present in the kirtana glorifying Him.

Text 189 Everyone wildly sang Lord Chaitanya?s glories. They became almost like madmen. The saintly devotees heard that kirtana with joy. The wicked were unhappy to hear it.

Text 190 Of what value are brahmacarya or sannyasa to a person who is not pleased by Lord Chaitanya?s glories?

Text 191 In this way the devotees always joyfully sang sankirtana of Lord Krishna?s holy names.

Text 192 Anyone who reads or hears of all these blissful pastimes will one day meet all the personal associates of Lord Chaitanya.

Text 193 Singing and dancing, all these great devotees went to see Lord Chaitanya.

Text 194 Hearing the kirtana glorifying Him, and then seeing how everyone had come, Lord Chaitanya became afraid. He lay down to go to sleep.

Text 195 Saintly Govinda informed the Lord, ?All the Vaishnavas are at Your door.?

Text 196 Lord Chaitanya ordered Govinda to bring them all inside. Then Lord Chaitanya went to sleep. No one looked in any other direction. They looked only at Him.

Text 197 Afraid, all the devotees meditated on Lord Chaitanya?s feet.

Text 198 In a moment Lord Chaitanya, who dearly loves His devotees, awakened. He said, ?Ah! All the Vaishnavas!

Text 199 ?Ah! Ah! Saintly Shrivasa Pandita! Why have You all come here today?

Text 200 ?Why, abandoning Lord Krishna?s holy names, and abanonding kirtana glorifying Lord Krishna, have you all come and awakened Me??

Text 201 Very eloquent Shrivasa said, ?Lord, the individual souls have no power to act independently, against Your will.

Text 202 ?As the Supreme Personality of Godhead makes me act and speak, so I act and speak. This I tell to You.?

Text 203 Lord Chaitanya said, ?You are all panditas. Why do you hide your knowledge??

Text 204 Hearing Lord Chaitanya?s words, Shrivasa Pandita moved his hand as if he were trying to cover the sun. Then he laughed.

Text 205 Lord Chaitanya said, ?What do you hint by moving your hand like that? Tell Me what your gesture means.?

Text 206 Shrivasa said, ?With this hand I will cover the sun. Thus I tell You the meaning of this gesture.

Text 207 ?Do I have the power to cover the sun with one hand? In the same way, You have no power to hide Yourself.

Text 208 ?Even if some day I get the power to cover the sun with my hand, You will still have no power to hide Yourself.

Text 209 ?On the ocean of milk You could not hide Yourself. How will You hide Yourself in the world of human beings?

Text 210 ?Your pure glories will fill every direction, from the Himalayas to Setubandha to the entire earth.

Text 211 ?The kirtana glorifying You will fill the entire universe, reaching up to Brahmaloka. How many people will sing in that kirtana? How will You punish them all??

Text 212 The Supreme Personality of Godhead always chants the glories of His devotees. Now a great wonder had come to the Lord?s own door.

Text 213 From where did so many thousands and thousands of people come? I do not know. After seeing Lord Jagannatha, they all went to see Lord Chaitanya.

Text 214 Some had come from Tripura, others from Catigrama, orthers from Shrihatta, and others from East Bengal.

Text 215 Thousands and thousands of people sang a kirtana glorifying Lord Chaitanya.

Text 216 They sang: jaya jaya shri-krishna-chaitanya banamali
jaya jaya nija-bhakti-rasa-kutuhali

?Glory, glory to Shri Krishna Chaitanya, who is forestflower-garlanded Lord Krishna! Glory, glory to the Lord who now happily tastes the nectar of devotional service to a person who is actually Himself!

Text 217 jaya jaya parama-sannyasi-rupa-dhari jaya jaya sankirtana-lampata murari

?Glory, glory to the Lord who has now assumed the form of the supreme sannyasi! Glory, glory to Lord Krishna, who is now eager to enjoy pastimes of sankirtana!

Text 218-219 jaya jaya dwija-raja baikuntha-bihari jaya jaya sarba-jagatera upakari jaya krishna-chaitanya shri-sacira nandan

?Glory, glory to the king of brahmanas, who is actually the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the master who enjoys pastimes in Vaikuntha! Glory, glory to the Lord who blesses all the worlds! Glory to Saci?s son, Shri Krishna Chaitanya!? In this way everyone sang while a hundred persons danced.

Text 220 Then Shrivasa said, ?Lord, what will You do? The whole world is singing. Where will You hide?

Text 221 ?Lord, what should I teach the whole world? Lord, the whole world is singing like this.

Text 222 ?Lord, You do not appear before the conditioned souls. They cannot see You. But because You are merciful You now stand before their eyes.

Text 223 ?You hide from them, and also You reveal Yourself to them. They who attain Your mercy understand You.?

Text 224 Lord Chaitanya said, ?By your own power you arranged all this. With your own mouth you told everyone in the world. This I know.

Text 225 ?I am defeated by you. Listen, O pandita, I know you have all powers.?

Text 226 The Supreme Personality of Godhead always praises His devotees. That is His nature. This the Vedas and the Shrimad-Bhagavatam say.

Text 227 With a smiling face Lord Chaitanya bid farewell to all the Vaishnavas. They all returned to their homes.

Text 228 Lord Chaitanya loves His devotees. Because of Him everyone chants, ?Krishna!?

Text 229 Lord Nityananda, Lord Advaita, and all the other personal associates of the Lord affirm, ?Shri Krishna Chaitanya is the Supreme Personality of Godhead.?

Text 230 They who disagree with the Supreme Lord?s words and say that Lord Chaitanya is not Lord Krishna are unfortunate.

Text 308-309 Lord Chaitanya has all power and all devotion. His power begins and ends everything. He knows everything. A person who knows this sincerely worships Lord Chaitanya.

In conclusion, this is Sri Chaitanya Bhagavata?s opinion on chanting the names of Nityananda and Gauranga as written in the Chapter Summary by Sri Bhaktisiddhanta Prabhupada himself :

?One day when under the order of ?ri Advaita ?c?rya all the devo tees began to glorify the names, qualities, and pastimes of the incar nation of Lord Caitanya, the ?c?rya began to dance and roar loudly. The ?c?rya began to dance with the devotees while chanting a song He personally composed about Lord Caitanya. When Mah?prabhu heard the sound of klrtana and came there, the devotees under the leadership of Advaita ?c?rya began to glorify Lord Caitanya?s names, forms, qualities, and pastimes even more enthusiastically. To protect the mission of His covered incarnation, Mah?prabhu, who is the teacher of all living entities and who accepted the mood of a devotee, left that place and returned to His residence to enact the pastime of going to bed in an angry mood. The devotees headed by ?r?v?sa went to the Lord?s residence, and Mah?prabhu indicated that His identity in His covered incarnation was to remain concealed. In response, ?r?v?sa made a gesture of trying to cover the sun with his two hands to show that by covering a self-manifested object it could never re main hidden. In fact, even if it were possible to cover the sun with one?s hands, it was not possible for Lord Caitanya to remain hidden, for His glories were spread throughout the entire world. At that time, innumerable devotees from various provinces suddenly arrived there glorifying the names, forms, qualities, and pastimes of the incarna tion of ?ri Caitanya and thereby substantiated the words of ?riv?sa. As a result, Mah?prabhu enhanced the glories of His devotee by accepting defeat.
The science of ?r? Krsna Caitanya?s position as the origin of all incarnations is accepted through disciplic succession. When He is accepted by personalities like ?r? Advaita and ?r? Nity?nanda as the source of all incarnations, and when He exhibits the special charac teristics found only in Lord Krsna, then to not accept Him as the Supreme Personality of Godhead but to consider Him as something else is nothing but atheism.?

Therefore in the end the opinion of Sri Chaitanya Bhagavata, which is the last word as far as Nityananda Gauranga are concerned, and all the scriptures is that anyone who objects to the chanting of the names of Nityananda Gauranga is bewildered by maya and ignorant of the real truth of Nitai-Gaura, the most merciful Lordships and the original cause of all other expansions.

Those who chant the names of Nityananda Gauranga fully know their powers and have no doubts. But those who have not chanted and simply try to approach with theoretical knowledge alone are always vulnerable to doubts. Sugar is sweet is a fact that can be realized only by placing a sugar cube in one?s mouth and not otherwise.

Realization on the sublime vision of the Lord?s pure devotees

Nityaananda Gauraanga Hare Krishna! My pranams!

Today a realization came to me while doing Gauranga Healing for a friend whose baby’s sick with swine flu. When I chanted the Holy names, it was totally beautiful and I could understand that that baby and for a split second everyone is a devotee of the Lord and we are all eternally connected to each other. Seeing that was so fulfilling I�knew that it had worked and this wasn’t doing things mechanically at all.

But it went more. I could also see that at heart, everyone is a devotee though they are not aware of it and it is covered by illusion. But it is very much there and then I could even see it in the terrorists and gangsters. It is not that we get a spiritual body,get to the Lord’s abode like its some far off place and seek and obtain the spiritual world — the spiritual world is always with us and our spiritual forms, names, pastimes, qualities, relationships with the Lord and other devotees are eternally there and it is true –but it is covered up. All I have to do is ‘just’ realize that — it is
all the process of becoming conscious of what is eternally existing, but what we have forgotten.

It went even more. I could understand that an advanced devotee with spiritual vision sees not just the soul, but also sees their spiritual forms, names, qualities, pastimes, activities,�relationships, the spiritual world, the Lord and all of it put together. I was wondering till now that you could see a soul, but how could you see a pure devotee dancing with the Lord when they are bewildered in this material world. So now by your mercy I understood that devotees see the complete svarupa of the soul in all aspects. This goes beyond time and space and all relative circumstances. My vision was based on relative experience so I was trying to see spiritual vision with my limited knowledge so I did not understand anything. But that one split second changed it.

Now I understand a little about that sloka in the Bhagavad Gita that says that an advanced devotee sees everyone with equal vision, dog, man, demigod, dog-eater, plant, etc…The whole of Gauranga Healing is contained in that verse. I was thrilled to bits.

So ultimately the soul is always embraced by the Lord’s love�everywhere, and great devotees can see it all. That is how the spiritual masters tell their disciples of their svarupa and tell them their spiritual identity and pastimes, because they see it all along. This is the ekadasha bhava realization that we see in Jaiva Dharma and other advanced texts.

However this can’t be understood simply by telling people, “You are�this and that.” That is simply mundane like my conditioned vision. The limited ego can never grasp such a thing theoretically or by imagination. The souls need to realize who they are and it is not simply a transmission of words, but it is a spiritual awakening that takes place at the highest level. That is why such intimate realizations of the svarupa of devotees are never described to public by devotees. It can never be grasped by anyone who hasn’t realized it oneself. This is absolutely incredible! �This is all only due to the Lord’s mercy and the mercy of Swamiji and devotees like Hadai prabhu who guide me at every step along the spiritual path. For the reader, Sita?s banishment is not only heartbreaking, but can also be the source of confusion or even enmity towards Rama….This article should set it right

?There is a place called Chitrakuta, a beautiful forest on the banks of the Mandakini River. I once met a great saint there named Balarama Maharaja. He was a devotee of Rama. I happened to ask him this question, ?What is the justification for Rama banning Sita to the forest?? He told me something that was so deep and so esoteric that it can not be fully appreciated by those who are looking at things merely at an external, superficial level. So one may or may not appreciate this answer but it completely fulfilled my heart.?

?Vipralambha means separation, and separation intensifies the experience of love. Just like in music, compare how many songs there are about being happy together to the number of songs about having a broken heart. Which are there more of? Why is it that there are so many songs about the pain of separation? Because music is an art, and art is an expression, and the expression of love in separation is a very deep absorption. When somebody is with us we are absorbed in a certain way, but when our loved one is away it increases our remembrance, thoughts and absorption in that person. It is true that when ones beloved is away one is always thinking of their beloved and searching for them. When Rama was with Sita he was seeing her in one place. But when Rama was away from Sita and Sita was away from Rama he would see Sita in the trees and she would see Rama in the clouds, everywhere. When we are together the love of our heart goes out towards the beloved. In separation that love goes deeper and deeper and deeper into the very core of our heart. And it is intensified. On the spiritual platform love is not determined by our physical proximity. Our connection to God or Rama is to the degree that we are internally absorbed in the thought of Rama. And when our love is intense, the Lord accepts it from within our heart. That love may be intense when the Lord stands before us, but it is even more intense when the Lord is not standing before us. When there is that longing, that deep deep absorption, then the Lord is embracing us and reciprocating with us from within.?

?So we read from the Vedas, Puranas and Bhagavatam that this love in separation is very special and deep and that it?s a direct personal relationship with God. If you have read Srimad Bhagavatam, the Gopis, they are considered the highest devotees of the Srimad Bhagavatam as their love for Krishna was so deep. Krishna lived with them for about twelve years. And then he left and went to another place. The Gopis were in deep separation as Krishna was living in Dwarka and they couldn?t see him for a long time. Krishna revealed His heart and said that the reason I am separate from them is because their love in separation for me it is so intense, so internalized, that their love and my reciprocation with that love in their hearts cannot be any more. If I were to stand before them it would only interrupt the intensity of that love that we are having within the hearts of each other. Still he went, but after some time.?

?So Sita is God. We have to understand the philosophical principle that according to Vedic sidhanta (conclusion) God is both female and male equally. There is the sakti (energy) and the saktiman (energetic source). Gods female aspect as Laxmi, Sita, Radha, or Parvati is the compassionate side of God. Krishna, Rama, Narayana, and Shiva are very powerful, lordly manifestations of God. The feminine aspect of God is the reservoir of love. And the masculine side of God is the ultimate object of love. And those two aspects together are God. Perhaps in western religion, because there is so much emphasis on the masculine side of God, religious people can sometimes become very egoistic and attached to power and control. They can lose their compassionate essence.

So this is the one God. God is never separate. Sita and Rama can never be separate in essence. In their lila in this world they lived together and enjoyed love in union. But Rama wanted to experience for himself, as well as have Sita experience, that even deeper, intensified experience of love in separation. In their hearts of hearts they could never be separated. So therefore Rama banished Sita, but really he was blessing her by giving her a higher experience of internal union and he also experienced that union. So the great devotees of Rama, the great yogis, they understand it in this way.?

?Externally the lesson that a king should be beyond suspicion, and that a leader should be willing to make sacrifices even of him or herself for the sake of the people, is taught through this lila. Rama banished Sita in order to remove all doubts in him as a leader with integrity, by proving that he was willing to make the greatest sacrifice, the sacrifice of the person he loved most. Sita, being very much an integral part of everything Rama was doing for the citizens, shared in that sacrifice for the welfare of others. This is the superficial lesson from this story. It?s what most people talk about when discussing this lila, but it is only the external reason for Sita?s banishment. Internally Rama and Sita wanted to share a deeper and deeper experience of love for each other from the core of their hearts.?

?This banishment of Sita, amongst people who have gone deep into the subject, is a very profound meditation on the loving exchange between her and Rama. This conclusion that I am speaking has been passed down for millennia. And how God and Goddess, male and female aspects, how they shared the ecstasy of love for each other is not limited by our ability to comprehend it. This is what they choose to do and we understand that is what they really want to do. They go through the whole lila in such a way that is very traumatic and brings about such emotions in all of us. But there is a beautiful verse in the Upanishads.?

Tad-vijnanartham sa gurum eva abhigacchet

?To learn that transcendental subject matter, one must approach a spiritual master.? (Mundaka Upanisad 1.2.12)

?To understand the essence of the scriptures we really need to have a teacher to explain them. Otherwise we can so easily become confused or bewildered by apparent contradictions based on how we feel it should be and all of that. So I am repeating the words of one great guru who spoke these words to me.?

I am concerned about this issue of swine flue. Everyone is talking so much about it in the last days. It has the power to overtake one’s mind and draw concentration on it. One one side, there is information being passed about its dangers, on the other side, there is information about the dangers of the vaccination. Fear of both is there and i have been asking myself, like many other people, what is the best thing to do…

Out of habit, we are used to take immediate, short-term actions to prevent ourselves from disease and sorrow. Mostly, we even try to only react against the syndrom rather than to prevent from it. In any case, our efforts are only short-term. So it is in regards to the actual swine flue issue.

But, be it swine flue or any other flue or disease, it is sure to come, no matter if we vaccinate now in this particular case or not. That is for sure and no one can tell otherwise. i am not telling that we shall become completely oblivious about what is happening and not to take any immediate actions. No. What i am rather saying is, that we shall become concious about the fact, why we are actually suffering again and again and how to prevent from it forever. We shall not forget about it, under any circumstence, neither now in the times of this flue issue.

And the actual cause of our perpetual suffering is our forgetfullness of the Supreme Lord.

krishna bhuli ’sei jiva anadi-bahirmukha
ataeva maya tare deya samsara-duhkha

“Forgetting Krishna, the living entity has been attracted by the external feature from time immemorial. Therefore the illusory energy [maya] gives all kinds of misery in his material existence.”

As soon as the jiva, the individual soul turns away from the all-auspicious service to the Supreme Lord, it is immediately thrown into this painful material existence, of which a swine flue is only a tiny part of the immense suffering this material world can provide.

In Skanda Purana it is said:

bhumau skhalita-padanam
bhumir evavalambanam
tvayi jataparadhanam
tvam eva saranam prabho

“For those who have stumbled and fallen upon the ground, that very ground is the only support by which they can arise once again. Likewise, for those who have offended You, O Lord, You alone are their only refuge.”

We have turn our face away from the Lord. We are like the mischievous, ungrateful sons, who left their home with a desire to look alone for themselves and their future life prospect. But what we actually got, is repeated diseases and suffering.

But in the same way a good father accepts a misguided, distressful son again in his home and is ready to give him His protection happily, the Lord is always ready to accept His fallen and lost souls again in His association and protect them from all dangers and suffering. This is the nature of the Supreme Lord.

And to start turning our face to Him is not a big thing. It is not something far beyond and abstract as it may seem on the first look. The Lord is there in our heart, as He is also present everywhere. He even manifests here in this world in His Original Form and performs His Eternal Pastimes, as He did just 500 years ago in Shri Navadvipa Dhaama as Lord Gauranga and Lord Nityananda.

But as long as we are not situated in the spiritual world in the association of our Supreme Father, we have to take His association here in this material world. It is possible and the most practical and easiest way to do it is to remember Him always and this rememberence is done via continuous chanting of His Holy Names like Nityananda, Gauranga and Hare Krishna and hearing about His Divine Pastimes and Activities.

deha-dehiira, naama-naamiira krishne naahi ?bheda?

“Sri Krishna?s body is Sri Krishna Himself. On the transcendental plane there is no categorical difference between the body and the being. There is no difference between the body of Krishna and Krishna
Himself. Similarly, there is no difference between the name of Krishna and Krishna Himself.”

So by chanting God’s Name one is definitely associating with Him directly. One may not feel it immediately due to one’s covered conciousness, but the results of the chanting are sure. The same way as butter melts more and more near the fire, the same way our conciousness gets purified and our suffering diminished when we continuously associate with the Lord via chanting His Holy Names like Nityananda, Gauranga and Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare.

This is definitely the best prevention against the current swine flue and all the flues to come in the future. The Holy Name gives You all protection, as it is non different from the Lord Himself.

Sita?s Banishment to the Forest

Dear Devotees,

Nityananda Gauranga Hare Krishna! First I will just raise the issue before we can discuss further.

A very big question in the Ramayana is why Lord Rama would banish Sita Devi to the forest just like that? People do not understand these matters in the Uttara Khanda because they treat it like some mundane love story and cannot fathom some deeper truths in the Lord’s actions.

For this reason, editions of Ramayana other than Valmiki Ramayana do not even talk about the Uttara Khanda and it is simply omitted. Plenty of ridiculous imaginary theories abound over this topic.

What is the meaning behind these mysterious pastimes? I would love some guidance before writing anything myself.

Comment by Shyam Sundar: Lord Rama establishes perfect “maryada” for His subjects, so nobody can give reference to His pastimes and misuse it for their sense enjoyments. He is ready to leave His father just to fulfill a vow, He is ready to leave His Eternal Consort (of course in common vision) to keep social norms intact and He even renounced Lakshmana at one point.
So when the Lord appears as a Lila-avatar, He has a certain purpose. Lord Rama comes with the purpose of establishment of regulations (maryada) in worldly life.
This is also a turn off for atheistic persons, who consider that some “injustice” was done by the Lord whose Name is always chanted by such great personalities as Shiva.
The pastimes of Krishna and His incarnations are not understood by those with a mundane vision.
It is also important to understand that maryada is very important in the practice of Rama-bhakti, one can only serve within certain limitations.
An even more esoteric view could be that Lord Rama experiences vipralambha or separation, as does His eternal consort Sita ji , by such pastimes.
Even Lord Krishna leaves Vrindavan and Braj to go to Dwarka, but that makes His pastimes even sweeter!

All in the same day. The vow of chanting a fixed number of Holy Names is a daily vow and our daily offering to Lord Gaura Krishna since the Lord serves us daily by giving us a new day to live. Nityananda!! Gauranga!! Hare Krishna!!

Dear Indu Pati prabhu, in addition I would like to add that ideally our japa must be done in one sitting. So 10 rounds Nityananda, 10 rounds Gauranga, and Hare Krishna (if you are chanting), should be done one after the other in one session. Splitting chanting is only recommended if you can’t find a single stretch of that much time in a day, as Mihir prabhu said.

10 rounds of Nityananda and 10 rounds of Gauranga are to be chanted on the same day and if possible at the same time continuously. After you become steady with this schedule then after a few months you can slowly start 4 rounds of Hare Krishna Mahamantra. Slow and steady wins the race.

I was wondering already for some time why my bhajan was not giving me the desired bliss and happiness. i couldn?t find out why until today when after long time i was again listening to the wonderful audio narration of Chaitanya Bhagavata. Just after few minutes my heart suddenly overflowed with affection for Lord Gauranga and Lord Nityananda and i felt like crying upon hearing the nectarean, most merciful topics of Chaitanya Bhagavata. i am completely convinced, that it was solely due to the inherent merciful nature of this great and most important divine literature. It can not but forcibly drag one into the sublime and merciful Pastimes of Lords Gaura-Nityananda. The mercy showed by Chaitanya Bhagavata cannot be properly put in words, only one who tried out and his heart grasped the merciful nature of this scripture can understand?

Now i want to give full credit to the words of Srinath prabhu and Shri Swami Gaurangapada Maharaja, that while reading Shri Chaitanya Bhagavata one?s all doubts in regards to Supreme Identity and Supremely Worshipable Position of Their Lordships Shri Shri Nityananda Gauranga and Their Holy Names completely vanishes. By reading Chaitanya Bhagavata all one?s fears in worshiping Lords Nitaai-Gauranga and chanting Their Holy Names flee and one feels himself spontaneously and effortlessly attached to the worship of Lord Gauranga?s and Nityananda?s Lotus Feet and chanting Their Holy Names.

I humbly allow myself to claim that this is the primary scripture on which all the enthusiastic worshipers of Lords Nityananda Gauranga and the chanters of Their Holy Names, in other words the Gauravadis, always swear upon. Forever.

The glories of Utpanna Ekadashi is described in Bhavisyottara Purana in the conversation between Shri Krishna and Arjuna. Shri Suta Goswami said to the assembled brahmins and sages – ?if a person with faith and devotion duely follows or hears about the glories, rules and regulations of observing Ekadashi as described by lord Krishna, then he will attain happiness in this life and will return to the abode of lord Vishnu in the next life.?

Once Arjuna asked Shri Krishna ? O Janardhana Please explain to me, what is the benefit of total fast, eating only at night or eating once at midday on Ekadashi ?

In reply to this lord Shri Krishna said, O Arjuna ! In the begining of autum on the Ekadashi that acurres during the waning moon in the month of November-December a person should begin observing the vow of Ekadashi. In the early morning on the day of Ekadashi he should make a vow to observe fasting. At mid-day he should purify himself by taking a bath. At the time of taking bath he should pray as follows. ? O Asvakrante ! O Rathakrante! O Vishnukrante! O Vasundhare! O Mrittike! O Mother earth! Please distroy all my sinful reactions accumulated from previous life times so that I can attain the supreme destination?. After completing his bath he should worship Lord Govinda.

Once Indra the king of heaven surrounded by the demigods approached the supreme lord and prayed to Him as follows. ?O lord of the universe, O supreme personality of godhead we offer our respectful obeisances to you. You are the supreme shelter, mother and father of everyone. You create,maintain and destroy everyone. You are the benefector of earth,the sky and the entire material creation. You yourself are lord brahma,lord vishnu and lord shiva. You are the lord and enjoyer of all kinds of sacrifices, austerities,hymns and their performers. There is no object within these three animate and inanimate worlds which is not owned and controled by you. O lord! O supreme personality of godhead! O master of the demigods! O protector of the surroundered souls! O supreme mystic ! the demigods have been deprived of their heavenly kingdom and have been driven out by the demons. They have fearfully surroundered at your lotus feet, please protect them. O lord of the universe! We have been fallen from the heavenly planets in to this earthly planet and have merged into the ocean of miseries. Kindly be pleased with us?.

On hearing such a pathetic prayer of Indra Lord Vishnu asked him ?who is this invincible demon who has defeated even the demigods? What is his name? What is the source of his prowess? O Indra ! please explain to me everything in detail without any fear ?.

Indra replied O lord of the demigods! O deliverer of the devotees! O supreme lord! A fierced demon named Nadijangha who first caused distress to the demigods appeared in the family of a brahmin. He had a equally powerful infamous demon son called Mura. The great city of Chandravati is the capital of this great demon Mura. This demon Mura has driven out all the demigods from heavenly planets and he himself is living there. He has taken over all the post of Indra,Agni,Yama,Vayu,Isa,Chandrama,Nairita and Varuna all by himself. The demigods combined could not conquer him. O Lord Vishnu please kill this demon and protect the demigods?.

On hearing the words of Indra the lord became very angry to those who harressed the demigods and said ? O king of the demigods I will personally kill this powerful demon who is your enemy. Now all of you should return to the city of Chandravati?. Thereafter all the demigods proceeded towards the city of Chandravati led by lord Vishnu. On one side the demigods were prepared for the battle with thousands of various weapons in their possession, and on the other side the Demon Mura was roaring surrounded by innumerable demon army.

The demigods were already scattered due to the severe beatings by the demigods; but now when they saw the rejuvenated fearless demigods led by the supreme lord were standing before them the demons became extremely angry. Although the lord easily defeated all the demons he felt difficulty in defeating the demon Mura. When inspite of useing various weapons the lord could not kill the demon Mura, He engaged him in wrestling with the demon for ten thousand years. Finally the lord defeated the demon and left for Badrikashrama. In Badrikashrama the lord entered into a beautiful cave called Hemavati and took rest.

The Supreme lord continued O Arjuna! Thereafter that demon chased me and entered that cave . On seeing me resting there he decided to kill me. At that time an effulgent daughter appeared from my body and holding various divine weapons began to fight with the demon. After constantly fighting with the demon for a long time the effulgent goddess finally severed his head. Then all the other demons ran away to patalaloka out of fear. When the lord got up from His rest He saw that the dead body of demon Mura is lying in front of him and an effulgent goddess humbly standing before Him with folded hands. On seeing her the lord surprisingly asked her who are you?

The goddess replied ?O my lord I am born from your body and I have killed this demon. On seeing you lying down this demon attempted to kill you, that is why I have killed him.?

The Supreme Lord said ?O Goddess I am very pleased with you for this act.

You can ask for any benediction you desire.? When the goddess prayed for benediction the lord said ? You are my spiritual energy and since you have appeared on the day of Ekadashi your name will be Ekadashi. Any one who will followthe vow of Ekadashi be releaved from all sinful reactions and attain inexhaustible heavenly happiness?.

From that day onwards the day of Ekadashi has been nurished and worshiped in this world. O Arjuna a person who observes the vow of Ekadashi I award him the supreme destination. O son of Kunti , an Ekadashi mixed with dvadasi is the highest. One should give up sex life , eating – grains ,honey,meat, eating on a baelmetal plate, appling oil on the day of Ekadashi. If a person observes this Ekadashi and hears its glories he can attain more results.

Comment on hearing and seeing without understanding by Swami

(1) As one gets burnt by touching fire even though one may not know the power of fire, one becomes purified by hearing the sound of the Sanskrit Mantras and verses emananting from the mouth of a pure devotee, even though one may understand the meaning or not.

(2) Lord Ananta is a partial expansion of Lord Nityaananda, so chanting Lord Nityaananda’s Name includes the fruit of the chanting Lord Ananta’s Name and much more.

(3) Directly seeing the Lord requires more qualification and if one sees Him materially then one will not understand Him. But His Names are more merciful than His form, so even chanting the Names materially or mechanically in the beginning will lead that person to the direct experience of God.

They look beautiful. My humble suggestion would be that it would be better if there was some covering to cover them from the sun, birds, rains, winds, cold, heat etc. since I remember that Shrila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Prabhupada would not so much recommend outdoor statues of the Lord since Their forms are non-different from Them and They cannot be protected properly without a temple or some kind of enclosure. Of course we also know that Lords Nityaananda Gauraanga are more merciful than any of Their other forms and They are always willing to give Their darshana to us is any way possible. Nityananda!! Dear Mihir, We do worship the Deities of Shri Shri Gaura Gadadhara as did our Acharya Shrila Sacchidananda Bhaktivinoda Thakura but at an advanced stage of devotion since understanding the devotion to Shri Shri Gaura Gadadhara purely requires even a more advanced level of purification than even the worship of Shri Shri Radha Krishna even though both are the same personalities, as I have explained before. Till then we worship Shri Gadadhara in the form of Shri Pancha Tattva. Nityananda!! Gauranga!! Hare Krishna!! Jaya Shri Guru Parampara!

Comment on Are our sufferings due to karma or due to offenses? by Swami

Practicing devotees are seen to suffer due to either or many or all of these four anarthas described in Madhurya Kadambini by Shrila Vishvanatha Chakravarti Thakura as follows:

(1) Duskrtottha (anarthas coming from sinful activities)
(2) Sukrtottha (anarthas coming from pious deeds)
(3) Aparadhottha (anarthas coming from offences)
(4) Bhaktyuttha (anarthas coming from devotional service)

Earlier we discussed the bad effects of material attachments, such as envy and anger. These causes of distress are born of sinful activities (dushkriti). The craving for temporary sensual pleasure is also a detrimental desire in the heart, an anartha stemming from sukriti (pious activities). [Suffering comes from impious deeds, whereas pious deeds facilitate enjoyment of the senses.] Some scholars say that sukritottha anarthas are part of the five causes of distress: envy, pride, anger, ignorance, and attachment.(end)

Aparadhottha (offenses) is the most difficult to come since it cannot be removed like other sins, but only by Nityaananda Gauraanga Naama and/or by constant chanting of Hari Naama. Bhaktyuttha are the anarthas created by the subtle desires for name, fame and reputation.

As I have described before, to the extent the practicing devotee is surrendered to the Name, to that extent these anarthas don’t affect him. For example, he or she gets 40% freedom from these sufferings caused by these four anarthas, if that devotee is 40% surrender to the Lord.

In the case of the pure devotees, as I have explained previously, the apparent “sufferings” seen in their lives is the arrangement by Lord Gaura Krishna to glorify them further and increase their love for Him more and more. Nityananda!! Gauranga!! Hare Krishna!! Jaya Shri Guru Parampara!

Dream of Krishna and Balarama

Last week, by the mercy of chanting Nityananda, Gauranga, and Hare Krishna mantra I had a wonderful dream I want to share.

I saw a giant Japa bead in my dream.I was hearing the sound of Nityananda Gauranga and Hare Krishna mantra. I one moment Krishna manifested Himself in the Tulasi bead. He was smiling and holding His mace,and I saw just the moment how He was manifesting Balarama in the next bead. I thought that in every next bead Krishna would manifest one of His energies if I chant sincerely.

In my dream Krishna showed me how He doesn’t differ from His name. I realized also the point and essence of chanting. How wonderful.I am so grateful for this realization and lucky that I heard of His divine Name and that I chant.Chanting is my guidance and highlight in the labyrinth of Maya which my fallen soul attends.

Dear Gurudev, Shyam Sundar Prabhu, Mihir Prabhu and devotees, Nityananda Gauranga Hare Krishna!

Please, accept my humble obeisances, all glories to Sri Sri Guru and Gauranga.

While chanting and performing devotional service there are millions of distractions lurking for our attention. The main remedy is: ?whenever your attention drifts away from your devotional efforts, bring it back?. That means that when I am chanting and my attention drifts away to let?s say making my shopping list, the soon as I notice that I have drifted away, I bring my attention back to the chanting. The instruction is simple however the implementation is a lifetime of practice. The more I follow this instruction the sharper my mind becomes to correct itself when wandering away. It?s training the inner muscle of focus. Also in the beginning I might make it to item 10 of my shopping list before I even notice that my attention has drifted away. The more I follow the instruction the earlier I will notice my distraction enabling to correct myself in an earlier stage. This is the process of how we become more fixed in our devotional service.

Now the worst that can happen is that I go on automatic pilot. I am chanting without intense awareness on the hole Names. My mind is constantly somewhere else and I don?t even notice it. Now I need stronger obstacles to ?wake me up?. When Lord Gauranga Krishna in His unlimited mercy is so kind to give me these obstacles in order to wake me up, that?s perfect. Yes it His will that He allows us to serve Him. But it is up to us to approach Him. That is a constant effort which we can?t put on automatic pilot. We need to have a keen mind that is constantly alert to serve the Lord. As soon as it becomes an ordinary routine we are wandering away, losing our ?edge? and the intensity diminishes. Devotional service, chanting, being focused on the Lord, is a constant effort in which we correct our attention constantly when it wanders of. When we weaken in this correctional process the Lord will create a wake-up call and give us difficulties so our attention gets sharpened again.

The reminder of being crushed under the mountain of karma and offences teaches that we are always depending on the Lord and His mercy. We can?t liberate ourselves. Only the Lord can. In order to receive Lord Gauranga Krishna?s personal attention we have to give Him our undivided attention. And as soon as we start experiencing Him in our lives all our ulterior motives disappear including liberation. With the Lord in our hearts our only wish is that He remains in our hearts, no matter if we are in hell, on earth, in heaven, or on His planet.

Dandvat Pranam to Swami ji,to all the devotees and especially to Shriman Hadai Nityananda Dasa Prabhu and Mihir Prabhu for your excellent responses.
Yes, ultimately it is due to our 50-50 approach (also seeking something in return for bhakti practice) that we suffer the most.
I was reading the Upadeshamrita of Shrila BhaktiSiddhanta Saraswati Thakura and came across an answer almost by chance (or perhaps by divine mercy).
A devotee doesn’t consider material miseries to be sufferings. For a devotee the only suffering is due to his inability to serve Krishna.
Any desire for alleviation of the threefold miseries of the material world amounts to “moksha vanchha.” or desire for liberation. Any desire for seeking material benefits (dharma, artha, kaam) amounts to bhukti vancha.
So as long as we have any material desires remaining, we suffer from either bhukti vaanchha or mukti vaanchha.
It is clearly stated that one cannot have peace as long as one has either of the two : both “bhogi” and “tyagi” must be restless.
“Krishna bhakta nishkam, ataiva shanta| bhukti, mukti siddhi kaami sakalai ashaanta.” (CC, Madhya Leela).

My question was more from the point of view of obstacles. If sufferings lead to obstacles in devotional service, should we still consider it as Krishna’s mercy ?
On this point I have this idea : Obstacles in carrying out devotional service means some correction is being made on us by Krishna. It means there is some seva-aparadh or the like, which is being corrected. Why else would Krishna create a situation where I cannot chant or do my regular japa ? It is also possible that Krishna wants to test our determination by putting us through the various tests.
However, the more esoteric view is that Krishna can only be served by His will, not by our will. So Krishna wants us to realize that and break our ego , like “I am such a nice devotee..etc”.
As Shrila Bhaktivinod Thakur prays
“hena dusta karma nayi, jahan ami kori nayi, sahastra sahastra baar Hari| Sei saba karma phala, peye avasara bala, amaya pisichhe yantropori.”
There is no evil act that I have not committed , millions and millions of times. The fruits of those acts (karma as well as offenses) , finding the right opportunity, are now crushing me heavily.
So a devotee also sees all his sufferings as the result of his past karma, but he is not asking for alleviation of those karma.
His only prayer is like “Whatever sufferings I deserve, let me have those. My only prayer O Lord (Gauranga – Krishna) is that never leave me, always remain in my heart.”

Why Nitaai Gaura instead of Gadadhara Gaura

I had a question and would be grateful to you if you could clear my doubts.

In Vraja Lila we worship Radha Krishna instead of Lord Balaram. In Vaikuntha we worship Lakshmi Narayan instead of Ananta Shesha Naga. Similarly we worship Sita Rama instead of Lakshman. Then in Navadvipa Lila why do we worship Nitaai Gaura instead of Gadadhara Gaura ? If Gadadhara is Radharani then why is no importance given to Gadadhara at all ?

Please forgive me for any offenses but I have asked this question just for knowledge.

Swami Gaurangapada has explained this which I have copied and pasted below

In the case on non-fully-perfect devotees, they have to suffer some of their karma since they are not 100% surrendered to Lord Gaura Krishna. If one is 50% surrendered to the Lord, the Lord removes 50% of the karma and one has to still face some effects of the remaining 50% karma.
Gurus have to accept the ten offenses of the disciples against the Hare Krishna Mahaamantra, which have no atonement in this world except constant chanting of Hari Naama or the regular chanting of Nityaananda Gauraanga Naama. So, unless the Gurus are chanting Hari Naama constantly or they have accepted full shelter of Nityaananda Gauraanga Naama and given Nityaananda Gauraanga Naama to their disciples in order to destroy the ten offenses of their disciples against Hari Naama, they may have to suffer accordingly.
But in the case of fully perfect pure devotees also, we may see that they sometimes externally ?suffer? like the example you have quoted about King Dasharatha, the pure devotee father of Lord Raama. This is not actually material suffering. Pure devotees are seen to ?suffer? due to the following three reasons.
(1) First is because the Lord wants their glories to be known widely because when there is suffering in the lives of pure devotees, they become more attached to the Lord and their glory shines even more. Also, by their example during suffering, the conditioned souls can learn and understand from the example of the pure devotees, how to react to suffering in their lives by surrendering to the Lord even more during those times.
(2) Secondly, the Lord wants to stop unqualified, materialistic and egotistic people from approaching and disturbing the pure devotee. Thus He deliberately puts that pure devotee in some distress so that materialistic people think that this pure devotee is an ordinary person and they don?t go and disturb his or her bhajana. And thus the pure devotee can relish the Holy Names peacefully in the association of other sincere devotees and disciples.
(3) The third reason is an internal reason. Feeling separation (which may look like suffering externally but actually is extremely blissful within) from the Lord increases and heightens the intensity of the pure devotee?s love for the Lord and that makes the pure devotee even more quailified to directly participate in the Lord?s pastimes. It also shows to the world the ultimate nature of pure love which is that a pure devotee cannot even live for a moment without the Lord.
For all these three reasons, pure devotees are sometimes seen to externally ?suffer?. But iinternally they are experiencing the highest bliss of pure love for Lord Gaura Krishna during these times.

My question is : Devotees are often seen to suffer from material miseries. Sometimes they also suffer from accidents, disease etc.

Often we find that materialist persons are not suffering, in good stead in the society whereas a devotee is suffering on various fronts.

Does a devotee suffer due to his past karma or due to offenses ? How to find out if �a particular suffering was caused due to past karma or due to offenses or due to some mercy of Krishna ?

(I know that a pure devotee treats everything as mercy of Krishna, but sometimes it is not so easy to digest.)

It seems that when a devotee ’suffers’ it is also like a test of faith and love? They love Him regardless of the reactions, whether karmic or from offenses that occur. They know well they are qualitively part and parcel of the Lord, and act only for His pleasure so internally they are not as affected by the material ups and downs. The experience can lead to greater rejection of temporary worldly pleasure and pain and greater attachment to Krishna. Ultimately they will never have to experience bodily distress again. As you all say, an advanced devotee sees everything as Krishnas mercy.

It says in the Srimad Bhagavatam 10.14.8

“My dear Lord, one who earnestly waits for You to bestow Your
causeless mercy upon him, all the while patiently suffering the
reactions of his past misdeeds and offering You respectful obeisances
with his heart, words and body, is surely eligible for liberation, for

The word su-sam?ks?am?n?a indicates that a devotee earnestly awaits the mercy of the Supreme Lord even while suffering the painful effects of previous sinful activities. Lord Kr?s?n?a explains in the Bhagavad-g?t? that a devotee who fully surrenders unto Him is no longer liable to suffer the reactions of his previous karma. However, because in his mind a devotee may still maintain the remnants of his previous sinful mentality, the Lord removes the last vestiges of the enjoying spirit by giving His devotee punishments that may sometimes resemble sinful reactions. The purpose of the entire creation of God is to rectify the living entity’s tendency to enjoy without the Lord, and therefore the particular punishment given for a sinful activity is specifically designed to curtail the mentality that produced the activity. Although a devotee has surrendered to the Lord’s devotional service, until he is completely perfect in Kr?s?n?a consciousness he may maintain a slight inclination to enjoy the false happiness of this world. The Lord therefore creates a particular situation to eradicate this remaining enjoying spirit. This unhappiness suffered by a sincere devotee is not technically a karmic reaction; it is rather the Lord’s special mercy for inducing His devotee to completely let go of the material world and return home, back to Godhead.

I would say that you can have some faith in yourself. However it has to be born in mind that we are very imperfect humans stranded in the ocean of birth and death, totally influenced and conditioned by the modes of material nature, we are constantly learning, forgetting and making mistakes Krishna on the other hand is perfect, completely transcendental to the modes, He doesnt need to learn anything as he is All-knowing, remembers everything and He is infalliable, never making mistakes. It seems better to have most faith in Krishna and His bone-fide empowered representatives.

“Should we have faith in ourselves or only in God?”
I will humbly try to post my views in this regard. Please forgive any offenses in advance!

One cannot but have faith in oneself. It is impossible to not have faith in ourselves. Without that, we cannot have any existence. Faith in God comes as a result of correct understanding or faith in oneself.

Faith in God and faith in myself are not different, but due to my diseased condition those appear to be different.To actually have faith in myself, I must know my true identity, which is as a servant of Krishna . Then I can have true faith in myself and also in God. One cannot have true faith in a false thing.

In order to begin on a spiritual journey, we must accept a guide. The Guide will provide us the seed of understanding of “our form” as well as the “form of God” .

If we are lucky to find a true Guide (a true Guide is one who guides us to our real identity, which is as a servant of Krishna), we must accept his instructions whole heartedly and put them into practice.As a result, the seed of devotion will begin to germinate and grow up gradually as a creeper.
Who am I ? What am I doing here ? What do I want ? What is this world ? Is there something better than this worldly existence ? Is there something better than this ?
We must ask those questions to ourselves. That is not possible to do unless we have faith in ourselves, even though we are yet to know our proper identity!

By progressively eliminating the lower concepts and accepting the higher concepts, we make progress.

Gradually we begin to realize that we are neither this body, nor this mind. We find out that there is a higher identity of myself, which is worthy of something better than the gross or subtle substances that are available in this world.(”athato brahma jijnasa”).
What is that identity, we cannot know fully right away. To the extent that our internal identity gets revealed progressively, to that extent we begin to understand that there is a Source, where I come from.
Just as when the sun starts rising, all the objects that were hidden in the darkness of the night become visible gradually.Similarly, as we make progress towards God, our own identity becomes visible more and more, as does the identity of the Supreme One.
We must cross the stages where we identify ourselves with the body, the mind, the intelligence, the ego, the super ego etc. Gradually as the darkness (”anarthas”) gets dissipated, we continue to proceed through the upper levels of existence in the material universe.
This is often referred to as the growth and progress of the “creeper of devotion.”
“upajiya badhe lata, brahmanda bhedi jaya, viraja brahmaloka bhedi para-vyom pay.”

Finally, as a result of completely surrendering ourselves to the Supreme One (freedom from all material desires) , we cross over the limits of material existence into Brahmaloka, the zone of undifferentiated consciousness. From there one progresses further up, propelled by the Internal potency of God, to Para-vyom (Spiritual Sky) as per one’s constitutional nature or tendency.
“tabe jay tadopori Goloka Vrindavan, Krishna charan kalpa-vrikshe kare arohan.
prem phala paki pade, mali asvaday, lata avalambi mali kalpa vriksha pay”
From Para-vyom, the spiritual sky (vaikunth), the creeper of devotion makes further progress into Goloka.
By taking shelter of the devotional creeper, the seeker (devotee) attains Krishna.
There the ultimate identity of the self is revealed, and the Supreme One is also revealed in His Complete (sat-cid-anand) Form.

Maybe I have distracted a bit from the main subject, please forgive me any offenses.

Dream of Shree Tulasi devi

The night before Diwali, 16 October I had the mercy to see Rama in my dream. He appeared just for a moment in all His divine bliss, smiling. The day after,the wonderful Shree Tulasi appeared in our home. She came all along from Croatia to us by bus.She is doing well.
Two nights ago She came to my dream . In the flowerpot I saw her,sitting. I was protecting her branches and leaves from mold rain and , suddenly, She expanded Herself and 5 beautiful Manjaris appeared. They were all purple. The Manjaris expanded to five beautiful Shree Tulasis. Two grown up and two girls. They were all dressed in multicoloured dresses and my dream was coloured with the most beautifull colours one’s eyes can possibly see.
The next day I saw some new leaves on Shree Tulasi devi.
With the mercy of chanting the Holy Names of Nityananda, Gauranga and the Hare Krishna Mahamantra I was given the opportunity to serve Shree Tulasi devi.

my question this time is what happens to someone who hears God’s names or any song or description of his glorification but he does not understand the meaning, for example if i only know the english language, and i do not know sanskrit, if i hear the names of the Lord, or likewise his glorification by devotees in a language i do not understand will i still get the same benefit as if i were understanding the meaning?

another question is what happens if someone chants the name Nityananta instead of Nityananda, does he get the same benefit, since it is written that ananta is also Nitai’s name.

and the same in seeing, what if someone sees, materially or spiritually the form of the Lord, will he understand Him only if he sees Him?

Haribol, i have a question regading disurbances, like noises that come from people’s actions that cause inconvinience, since swami Gurudeva i saw he wrote that we must bear any kind of disturbance and we cannot control it, knowing it is controlled by the supreme, i would like to know if it is possible in sadhana to go to the person making the noise and ask him to stop it as it is causing disturbance, or even somehow stop the person from doing it, for example if the t.v is on to switch the t.v off or softer.

People will need to turn vegetarian if the world is to conquer climate change, according to a leading authority on global warming.

In an interview with The Times, Lord Stern of Brentford said: ?Meat is a wasteful use of water and creates a lot of greenhouse gases. It puts enormous pressure on the world?s resources. A vegetarian diet is better.?

Direct emissions of methane from cows and pigs is a significant source of greenhouse gases. Methane is 23 times more powerful than carbon dioxide as a global warming gas.

Lord Stern, the author of the influential 2006 Stern Review on the cost of tackling global warming, said that a successful deal at the Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December would lead to soaring costs for meat and other foods that generate large quantities of greenhouse gases.

He predicted that people?s attitudes would evolve until meat eating became unacceptable. ?I think it?s important that people think about what they are doing and that includes what they are eating,? he said. ?I am 61 now and attitudes towards drinking and driving have changed radically since I was a student. People change their notion of what is responsible. They will increasingly ask about the carbon content of their food.?

UN figures suggest that meat production is responsible for about 18 per cent of global carbon emissions, including the destruction of forest land for cattle ranching and the production of animal feeds such as soy.

On average, a British person eats 50g of protein derived from meat each day ? the equivalent of a chicken breast or a lamb chop. This is a relatively low level for a wealthy country but between 25 per cent and 50 per cent higher than the amount recommended by the World Health Organisation.

Su Taylor, a spokeswoman for the Vegetarian Society, welcomed Lord Stern?s remarks. ?What we choose to eat is one of the biggest factors in our personal impact on the environment,? she said. ?Meat uses up a lot of resources and a vegetarian diet consumes a lot less land and water. One of the best things you can do about climate change is reduce the amount of meat in your diet.?

The UN has warned that meat consumption is on course to double by the middle of the century.

Utthana Ekadasi Reminder

Today 29th October(UK) is Utthana Ekadasi also known as Haribodhini, Prabodhini or Devotthani Ekadasi.

The glories of Utthana Ekadashi is described in Skanda Purana in the conversation between Lord Brahma and Narada Muni. Once Lord Brahma said to Narada Muni O best of the sages! Please hear from me the glories of Utthana Ekadashi which destroys all ones sinful reactions, increases ones piety and awards one liberation. O best among the brahmins! The supremecy of the ganges was intact as long as Utthana Ekadashi which occures during the waxing moon in the month of October/November and which burns all ones sins into ashes did not manifest in this world. The influence of the oceans and lakes piety was matchless as long as Utthana Ekadashi did not manifest. The result one obtains by performing one thousand horse sacrifices and one hundred Rajsuya sacrifices can easily be obtained by observing this Ekadashi.

After hearing this words of Lord Brahma Narada Muni said, O dear father! Please tell me What is the merit one attains by eating ones a day, by taking supper in the evening and by complete fasting?

Lord Brahma replied, If one eats ones a day then all the sinful reactions of his one life time is destroyed, If one eats supper then the sinful reactins of his two life time are destroyed and by fasting completly one can destroy the sinful reactions of his seven life times.

O dear son! This Utthana Ekadashi awards everything that are unseen undesired and rare within the three worlds. This Ekadashi burns to ashes the grave sins as big as Mandara Mountain. The lion among sages if a person accumulates any piety on this day of Ekadashi then he obtains results equal to Sumeru Hill. In the body of those who do not prayers to the lord, who are fallen from their vows, who are ethiestic, who blashfame the vedas, who polute the religious scripture, who enjoyes others wife and who are foolish religious principle cannot remain. On should not indulge in sinful activities rather he should engage in pious activities. If one is inclained towards pious activities his religious principle are not distroyed. One who confidently follows the vow of Utthana Ekadashi, the sinful reactions of his one hundred life times are vanquished. If one reamains awake on the night of Utthana Ekadashi then his past, present and future generations returned to the abode of Vishnu.

O Narada! A person who does not observe the vow of Ekadashi in the month of Kartik and does not worship Lord Vishnu then all his accumulated piety is totally distroyed. O best of the brahmin! Therefore one should certainly worship lord Vishnu in the month of Kartik. If one eats food stuff cook by himself in the month of Kartik he obtains the result of Chandrayana vrata. If one engages in hearing and chanting the topics of Lord Vishnu in the month of Kartik attains the result of donating one hundred cows. By regularly studying the scriptures one achives the result of performing one thousand sacrifices. A person who hears the topics of the lord and then gives dakshina to the speaker according to his capacity goes to the eternal abode of the lord.

Narada Muni said O Lord! Kindly explain to me the procedure for observing Ekadashi. The grand father Brahma replied, O best of the twice born one should rise early in the morning during Brahma Muhurtha and after washing his mouth and taking bath he should worship lord Keshva. Then he should take a vow while chanting a mantra as follows. ? I will fast on the day of Ekadashi and I will only eat on the day of Dvadasi. O Pundarikaksa ! O Achyuta! I surrounder unto you Please protect me?. One should gladly observe the vow of Ekadashi with devotion and at night one should remain awake near

Lord Vishnu. While remaining awake at night one should hear and chant the transcendental qualities of the Lord. Any pious person who follows these instructions attains supreme destination. One should give up all kinds of greedyness on the day of Ekadashi.

Lord Brahma continued, If one worships Lord Janardhana with Kadamba flowers does not go to the abode of Yamaraj. If one worships Lord Garudadvaja or Lord Vishnu with rose flowers in the month of Kartika certainly gets liberation. If one worships the Lord with Bakula and Ashoka flowers then he becomes freed from lementation for as long as the sun and the moon rise in the sky. If one worships the lord with sami leaves escapes the punishment of Yamaraja. If one worships Lord Vishnu who is the controler of the demigod with Champaka flowers during the rainy reason then he will not have to take birth again within the material world. If one offers yellow coloured Ketaki flowers to Lord Vishnu then all his sinful reactions accumulated from millions of life time is distroyed. If one offers red coloured fragrent hundred petelled lotus flower Lord Jagannatha then he returns to the abode of the lord known as Svetadvipa.

O best of the brahmins! One should remain awake on the night of Ekadashi. On the day of dvadasi one should worship lord Vishnu and complete his vow by feeding the brahmins. According to ones ability if one should worships his spiritual master and gives him charity then the supreme lord becomes freed with him.

i am trying to make a post on questions i have regarding how should i chant the mantrarajas- i have began to chant the name of Gauranga for about three moths now, everyday 10 rounds, and i would like to know is it possible to chant the name of Gauranga in my mind if i do not have enough strength to make it by voice, and when should i begin chanting the name of Nityananda? and another question, since you have written in your site that the name Gauranga is of four syllibles should i chant it as Gau-ra-an-ga or just like three syllibles as Gau-ran-ga?
