Show notes 20/4/13

intro:

Hello and welcome to the podcast. My name is Nicole also known as Nixis Knits. I am 23 years old and both a knitter and a crocheter. I was inspired to make this podcast after watching all the other great knitting podcasts through youtube. I have ulcerative colitis, and through one of my sick days I was searching on iTunes for something to watch whilst i knit, thinking I would find nothing, i typed in knitting for the heck of it and found many great podcasts.

Whats been happening?

Recently i have moved back to the place I was originally living at (its a long story). With my kitten smokey and now with his two sisters. Just as a warning, kittens may feature in this podcast. I will add some photos of the kittens here.

I have been sick again so I've had a lot of time to knit and a lot of things to update in my etsy store, but more about that later.

How to find me:

You can find me as nixis knits everywhere on the web. I am on Facebook, twitter, plurk and revelry. There is also a revelry group so please come join us.

I would like to welcome… Freeflower and Supasteph for joining the revelry group. Thank you.

Now lets get into the show!

WIPS: I am currently working on a sock and I'm using the "a nice ribbed sock" pattern by Glena C which is a free revelry pattern. I am using heirloom Jigsaw which is a 4 ply yarn blend of 75% wool and 25% nylon. The only modification I have made is I have slightly shorted the leg.

Right now I am being monogamous in my knitting and crochet so this is my only real work in progress

Finished Objects

I have finished the red ruffle scarf you saw in the test podcast and

I have also finished a beanie knitted out of tangle and stash 10 ply yarn in the chocolate fish colour way. I do not have the item here as it was a gift but here is a photo

Stash Enhancement

This month we have a lot of stash enhancement so please stay tuned!

The first I would like to talk about is this yarn which was the last club yarn for three irish girls. it is a worsted weight yarn in the Glenhaven colour way. It is 80% merino 10% cashmere and 10% nylon. I absolutely love the colours in this but have no idea what I'm going to make out of it.

This yarn is from Skein yarns which is an Australian yarn company which is great because thats where I am, It is there skein select sock base which is 100% super wash merino. it is 400 metres and is in the perfume colour way.

next are four big balls of wool from bendigo woollen mills. I love this wool because it comes in a 200gram ball and is also very soft.

The first is a 4ply 100% cotton wool in the glacier colour way. I have been asked by a friend to knit socks with this yarn.

The next three yarns are also 4ply but are 100% luxury wool. The first ball is in the lotus colour way, the second ball is in the new fuchsia colour way and the third is in the frost colour way, but this wool i would like to try to dye.

Thats it for this month, goodbye and i hope you have time to start something new!
