Reasons why cheer injuries occur

Poorly trained instructors and coaches. Cheerleading coaches need to be properly educated about the risk and preventions of cheerleading related injuries. They should be first aid and CPR certified
Lack of proper equipment. Cheerleaders should always have the proper shoes and apparel when performing cheer skills. Many injuries can occur from shoes lacking cushioning or clothes that are not fitted properly.
Inadequate Facilities. Every cheerleading team should have a safe place to practice and learn new skills. Many injuries can be prevented with the use of mats and adequate space.
Lack of proper technique to perform advanced skills. A team should never attempt skills that are beyond their abilities. It is important that the coach pay close attention to the abilities of their team. Poor decision making can lead to some serious injuries. Teams should slowly progress the difficulty of their skills only after perfecting them first.
Poor nutrition. Cheerleading is a highly athlectic sport that demands a lot from the body. Cheerleaders need to make sure that their nutritional needs are being met just as any other athlete would. Coaches need to watch for the signs of any eating disorders or poor diet.

Fundraising Outside Of The Box

Some of the best fundraisers for your team to do are the ones you come up with yourself. Fundraising, fundraising and more fundraising. Is this making anyone else cringe? Fundraising for your team can be hard work and sometimes it is just not worth the hassle. When you are thinking of fundraiser for your team try and think outside of the box. Do something your whole team can participate in and not just the parents. Bake sales and candy bar sales the profits can be small. Think big! One fundrasier can bring in enough profits to cover your team for the rest of the year. Now wouldn't that be great! Organize a carnival or ice cream social or holiday bazaar or something for your team and community. Set up booths and charge other teams to set up at the event. Invite the community to come. Have performances and honor administrators and honorable community members. Do what ever you can to get as many people to your event. There is so much your team can do to raise money you just have to use you imagination.

Christmas Fundraiser

Go from door to door office to office and shop to shop asking if anyone would like to purchase Luminarias for there yards or store fronts on Christmas eve. This is a great in expensive way to make a lot of money. Sell the Luminarias buy the dozens. You can give each member of your team an order form so that each member can go out and try to sell as many dozens as they can. You will need to bulk order tea light candles and brown paper bags and also purchase a big heap of sand. Have your team all pitch before the delivery date to fill the bags together.
