A new video of Jeremiah Wright has surfaced, showing Barack Obama’s pastor for 20 years praising Marxism and discussing his ties to communists in El Salvador and Nicaragua and the Libyan government. Equally important, Wright is being introduced in the video by Robert W. McChesney, co-founder of Free Press, an organization which has come under scrutiny for its links to the Obama Administration and dedication to the transformation and control of the private media in the U.S.

In an article in the socialist Monthly Review, “Journalism, Democracy, and Class Struggle,” McChesney declared, “Our job is to make media reform part of our broader struggle for democracy, social justice, and, dare we say it, socialism.”

In the video, which captures Wright’s appearance at a September 17, 2009, anniversary celebration of Monthly Review, Wright said that while the “corporate media” provide a “binary lens” of the world, in such terms as “communist versus Christian,” Monthly Review offers what it calls “no-nonsense Marxism.”

By Thaddeus M. Baklinski

PENSACOLA (LifeSiteNews.com) – Last Friday, the 38th day of the autumn 40 Days for Life Campaign, the abortion facility at 6700 North 9th Avenue in Pensacola, Florida posted a ‘Closed’ sign on its door as pro-lifers prayed and kept vigil outside. Ernie Cyr, the Pensacola 40 Days for Life coordinator, said the local 40 Days for Life team didn’t even realize at the time what they were witnessing – the permanent closure of an abortion facility that had been in operation for more than 25 years. Cyr explained that law enforcement officers went into the clinic on Friday to serve some legal papers, but no one really knew what was going on. The following Monday, a simple legal notice appeared in the fine-print section of the local newspaper: “As of October 30th, 2009, The Community Health Center of Pensacola will be terminating its practice.”

Further investigation revealed that the facility was licensed as a clinical laboratory for blood testing as well as an abortion clinic. However, an investigation by the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) determined that the center’s lab license had been expired for 413 days – a violation of state law. A retroactive fine of $1,000 per day was imposed, totaling $413,000. “In lieu of paying the fine, the Community Health Center decided to shut down,” said Tiffany Vause, AHCA press secretary. Vause also said AHCA lawyers had offered the abortion facility a reduced fine as part of a settlement agreement, but they never received a response.

Ernie Cyr said that although the abortion centre staff refused to talk with TV reporters and no information is available on whether they intend to reopen the abortion center, the legal notice in the newspaper suggests that the closure is permanent.

“It’s just a complete joy and what a blessing for our community to have this facility close,” Cyr told WEAR-TV. Bernadette Ensley, a University of West Florida student, and head of UWF’s Students for Life group, said, “For this to up and close the last weekend of 40 Days for Life is really shocking and great!” David Bereit, National Director of 40 Days for Life, commented on this latest abortion facility closure in his daily e-mail to 40 Days supporters. “This now makes FIVE abortion centers CLOSED – facilities where people came to pray outside for an end to abortion during 40 Days for Life. Praise God indeed, for answering your prayers and the prayers of thousands of others!” “This fall’s campaign has been the most incredibly blessed 40 Days for Life effort yet,” Bereit said. “There have been 571 lives spared from abortion that we know of this fall,” he said. “There have been eight abortion industry employers who have left their jobs. … It’s been a most eventful 40 days.”

This Islamic slaughter of 13 soldiers by an American-born Muslim has again raised the profile of the controversy around Islam and whether there’s any such thing as moderate Islam – and whether or not an Establishment that panders to multiculturalism, ignoring early warning signs of Islamic fundamentalism, can be trusted with leadership in America.

One might expect media outlets in Texas, where the slaughter took place, to be more sensitive to the victims, but the Houston Chronicle on Friday, in an article titled, “Some Muslims fear backlash after rampage,” gently reported: “Almost exactly 24 hours after Thursday’s shootings at Fort Hood, Sgt. Fahad Kamal knelt in a small red-brick mosque near the base and prayed for strength. The 26-year-old combat medic from Sugar Land worships every Friday at Masjidu Ttaqwa on Fort Hood Road, where suspected shooter Nidal Malik Hasan attended services after moving to Killeen from Washington, D.C., this summer. ‘I just want to show myself in a positive way for the religion I represent,’ he said. ‘I just hope people don’t stereotype’.”

Giving Muslim organizations the benefit of the doubt despite the track record of many of them, the paper continued with a very deferential tone towards Islam, “Though the attack has been universally condemned by U.S. Muslim organizations, some worry that it could give the ignorant an excuse to stereotype and lash out at Muslims – or worse.” This claim is also dubious at best, depending on who you identify as representative of Islam. Other reports indicate that some Muslim activists are praising Major Nidal Malik Hasan’s murderous rampage. “They do us one favor though, they explain how Islam justifies the Fort Hood attack,” observes the “Islam in Action” blog.

And other deeply disturbing reports continue to surface. “Texas army killer linked to September 11 terrorists,” reported the Daily Telegraph in Britain on Friday. The article begins: “Hasan, the sole suspect in the massacre of 13 fellow US soldiers in Texas, attended the controversial Dar al-Hijrah mosque in Great Falls, Virginia, in 2001 at the same time as two of the September 11 terrorists, The Sunday Telegraph has learnt.” “Fort Hood suspect became more devout after mother’s death, cousin says,” was a Washington Post headline also on Friday. Fox News is now exploring the question of whether or not the killing should be identified as a terrorist act.

Republican Congressman, Sue Myrick from North Carolina, has declared her commitment to investigate this case. Rep. Myrick is on the House Intelligence Committee and “has been leading a group of four House Republicans on a campaign to investigate Muslim intern ’spies’ on Capitol Hill, an effort launched by supposed revelations in the new book Muslim Mafia. She has touted the book – for which she wrote the foreword ….” She promised: “There’s a lot to look into, and I intend to do that.”

Haggard starting new church at his Springs home
By Mark Barna

Ted Haggard, who started New Life Church in his Colorado Springs basement and built it into a megachurch with thousands of worshippers, said Wednesday that he is starting a church at his home. “We wanted to do something in our house to connect with friends,” said Haggard, whose ties to New Life ended in scandal three years ago with the revelation that he’d been involved with a male prostitute in Denver. Haggard will hold his first gathering, open to the public, at 7 p.m. Nov. 12 at his house at 1865 Old Ranch Road. He referred to it as a “prayer meeting” but said it would also be correct to call it a church. Although Haggard recently indicated he had no plans to start a church, he said he changed his mind two weeks ago after talking to a friend in Florida who was involved in prayer meetings.

Are Same-Sex Couples Better Parents?
By Lisa Belkin

Just as voters in Maine were rejecting the legalization of gay marriage in the state, researchers from Massachusetts to California were releasing data showing that families led by same-sex parents are becoming mainstream. The demographer Gary Gates of the Williams Institute at the University of California, Los Angeles, released his analysis of 2008 census data, which shows that 31 percent of same-sex couples who identify themselves as spouses are raising kids, compared with 43 percent of heterosexual couples. This is a jump even from the 2000 census, which showed that 1 in 5 male couples and 1 in 3 lesbian couples were raising children, and a huge leap from 1990, when 1 in 20 male couples and 1 in 5 lesbian couples had children under the age of 18.

Mr. Hnatiuk and his team have been working flat out for the past few weeks and are awaiting tomorrow’s vote with anticipation and probably not a little exhaustion.

Christians, be in prayer over the results of these byelections. God raises up civil magistrates and brings them down. God’s judgment on a backslidden and wayward Church is evident in the many Canadian jurisdictions where there isn’t a single good candidate from which to make a selection. We get the leaders we deserve, especially in a jurisdiction where we have the opportunity to vote for our own leaders.

Congratulations to all those who worked so hard and sacrificially on the CHP team in Cumberland–Colchester–Musquodoboit Valley.

Rise of French evangelicals puts secularism in a spin
Belief in the gospel truth is spreading.
By LIZZY DAVIES, PARIS.

AS THE piano strikes up, the congregation sways, fists in the air, murmurs of hallelujah punctuating the music. Pastor Franck Lefillatre, bathed in the spotlight on his podium, intones into a microphone. “Let out the words that are in your heart,” he urges. His whispers crescendo to booming rhetoric. Behind him, emblazoned in gold lettering, are the words: “Jesus Christ: the same yesterday, today, eternally.” As evangelical services go, this gathering on a rainy Sunday is nothing unusual. In countless churches across the US and many countries, it would be a staple means of Christian worship.

But this is not the American Bible Belt. It is the Church of Paris-Bastille, and this congregation is one of a growing number of evangelical communities spreading through France and prospering in spite of its secular – and Catholic – traditions. From a postwar population of about 50,000, French evangelicals are now estimated to number 450,000 to 500,000. According to the Evangelical Federation of France, the number of churches has risen from 800 in 1970 to more than 2200 today. Last week, the boom made headlines when thousands of evangelicals descended on Strasbourg to turn the 500th anniversary of Calvin’s birth into a huge media-covered event.

The Plan to Socialize America

The Progressives’ plan to socialize America required the most thorough and radical reform of American education. To this they applied their extensive knowledge of behavioral psychology. That the goal was socialism was clearly known and understood throughout the educational establishment. That it meant downgrading academics in favor of socialization was also understood, for in a socialist society an elite rules at the top, and the masses below are relegated to the subservient, mindless tasks of an industrial system…

Why did these men believe in socialism? Because, as atheists, they were convinced that socialism offered the only salvation from evil. To them the causes of evil were societal: ignorance, poverty, and social injustice. As evolutionists they rejected such concepts as sin, innate depravity, or the fall of man. They thus attributed the causes of social injustice to capitalism, individualism, and religion. By substituting socialism, collectivism and atheism in their place, they had no doubt that heaven on earth was quite attainable…

The Progressives did their job exceedingly well, and their disciples today, in the highest positions of power in the educational establishment, still press that globalist vision while centralizing all education under state monopoly control. Their political power is enormous, thanks to the NEA, which is convincing more and more legislators to pour more and more tax money down the educational rathole.

Meanwhile, public education has become a moral and academic disaster. But Americans have grown to live with it. They know something is wrong, but they have no idea what to do about it.
Fortunately, there is a growing number of parents who know what is going on and have removed their children from the government schools. This trend will continue to grow despite the determination of the “educators” to crush it…

Americans are now in a position to see quite clearly where the educators want to take us. The goal is a world socialist government in which individual freedom and national independence will be lost forever. Clearly this is not what the American people want. And so, the conflict between the educators and the people will persist indefinitely.
