The moons of the solar system are numerous, but here on Earth we only have the one. Our moon doesn’t get a special name — it’s not a Triton or Europa — but it gets the singular distinction of being the moon.

Tonight it’s a blue moon, the second appearance of a full moon in a calendar month. The pale glow of a full moon always holds a certain magic, but it almost feels doubled by the gift of this extra appearance. Personally, I am taking this blue moon as a nudge from the universe to pursue my goals, such as posting regularly on this site, instead of tending to them “once in a blue moon“.

I’m completely obsessed with Tomb Raider right now, and am seeing adventure everywhere: in lost iPhones and neanderthal skulls. The spirit of adventure is definitely a theme in the first edition of Dog Eared, my regular link roundup.

✚ The 2013 redesign of Lara Croft is more than I could have ever hoped for, and it seems a lot of cosplayers feel the same way. There’s even a whole Etsy shop dedicated to Tomb Raider cosplay pieces.
