Miklós Simon, a key member of the Hungarian PR community, general manager of Noguchi Porter Novelli passed away. He was 52.
Miklós Simon graduated from the ELTE university in 1981, then held management positions at various non-government organizations’ media and information offices. From 1991, he was Media Monitoring Group Leader at the Budapest office of the PR agency market leader at the time, Burson-Marsteller. In 1996, he co-founded Noguchi with Edit Budai, Éva Kőszegi and Péter Szántó. The agency grew from start-up to Hungarian market leader in five years, and remains the top PR firm.

We were together, in good times and bad, for twelve years. Noguchi Porter Novelli will miss his focus, creativity, many years of professional experience, and especially his humanity and good humor.

CEU Business School and communications and lobbying agency Noguchi Porter Novelli signed a cooperation agreement. The organizations will work together on CEU Business School's Lobbying Specialist course: the leading PR and lobbying agency will act as professional partner. The long-awaited program is even more timely as Parliament is now working on the “act on the assertion of special interests by a retained agent”—also known as the lobbying bill.

Péter Szántó, president & CEO of Noguchi Porter Novelli said: “I am very glad that legislation and education are so much in accord over the acceptance of lobbying as a specialist field. I also believe it is imperative that lobbying, as a special area of communications, shall become clear and understandable for everyone.”

Over and above sharing its experience, the agency will also participate in the CEU Business School's communications activities and publicity for the course.

Central European University Business School dean and managing director Ferenc Pártos said: “We were looking for a partner to cooperate with on our 192-hour, almost full calendar year, mostly practical course who meets CEU Business School's high standards both with their lobbying achievements and their professional and market standing.”

The two leaders also agreed that if the current cooperation will be as successful as they both expect it to be, they would sign further long-term cooperation agreements for other courses as well.

After the successful launch campaign for the telecommunications provider, the Swedish telco awarded its FY 2004 full-service PR contract to Noguchi Communications.
Noguchi’s primary task is to build, develop and maintain media relations for TELE2, as well as consumer communications. Account director Tamás Szémann is handling the account at the agency.

As the regulatory environment is at least as important as good media relations for the efficient operation of TELE2 in Hungary, the other key area of the contract is building and coordinating strategic relationships with the government and relevant regulatory bodies. This activity is the specialist area of Mihály Vágvölgyi, Noguchi’s account director responsible for government relations.
