Symptoms of the Problem:

After about 10 minutes of gaming on your PlayStation Portal, the screen and sound freeze, followed by a message that the connection to your PS5 has been lost. When you hit the “Retry” button, it reconnects instantly.

Solution for the PlayStation Portal Disconnection Issue

To fix the ongoing disconnection problem with your PlayStation Portal, follow these steps:

1. Check your router: Ensure it’s dual-band and that both your PS5 and PlayStation Portal are connected to the 5GHz band for a faster, more stable connection.
2. Disable Smart Connection: If your router has the “Smart Connection” feature enabled (which makes the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands invisible to the user), turn it off. This allows you to manually select which band to connect to—opt for the 5GHz band for both your PS5 and PlayStation Portal.

After verifying the above, try playing again. If the disconnection persists after 10 to 15 minutes, follow these additional steps:

This solution worked perfectly for me, and it should do the same for you.

1. Access your router settings: This is usually done through your browser by typing in the IP address (192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) and logging in with your admin credentials.
2. Enable the guest network: In your router’s wireless settings, enable a 5GHz guest network (this option is available on TP-Link routers like my TP-Link AX1500, and is common in other brands too).
3. Connect your PlayStation Portal: Set up a name and password for your guest network and connect your PlayStation Portal to the 5GHz guest network. There’s no need to switch your PS5—keep it connected to your standard 5GHz network.
4. Restart and test: Restart your PlayStation Portal, reconnect to your PS5, and start playing any game. You should find that the disconnection issue is gone.

Since applying this solution, I’ve experienced zero disconnections on my PlayStation Portal and have been able to enjoy uninterrupted gaming sessions of over three hours.

Why This Solution Works

Connecting your PlayStation Portal to the guest network likely prevents it from competing with other devices on your main network, as routers often prioritize different connections separately. Multiple devices on the same network could be straining your router’s capacity, impacting the PlayStation Portal’s connection.

Alternatively, if you have the time and patience, you could try disconnecting all other devices from the 5GHz Wi-Fi and leaving just your PS5 and PlayStation Portal connected. If the issue disappears, you can reconnect your devices one by one to find the router’s maximum tolerance before the problem recurs.

I didn’t bother with that approach since I have many devices at home. Instead, I moved several devices to the 2.4GHz band to free up the 5GHz band for my PS5.

Optimizing Your Wi-Fi Bands

You can keep devices that require high-speed internet, like gaming consoles, work laptops, and smartphones used for gaming, on the 5GHz band. Other devices that are just for browsing or streaming, like smart TVs and tablets, can remain on the 2.4GHz band without any issues.

Note: Keep in mind that the 5GHz band has a shorter range than the 2.4GHz band, so make sure your devices are within range.

Sony has finally revealed the official prices for the new PlayStation 5 consoles! Just as suspected, the standard PS5 (with Ultra HD Blu-ray optical drive) will be priced at $499, while the PS5 Digital Edition will cost about $399.

The PlayStation 5 at the same price as the Xbox Series X

Quite competitively priced for the PlayStation 5, considering that the PS5 standard price is the same as the Xbox Series X. However, the PS5 Digital Edition costs about $100 more than the Xbox Series S (which will hit the market at $299), we know that this version of the console without an optical drive will be capable of playing video games at 4K resolution.

¡Finally, it is official! We will see Zack Snyder’s ‘Justice League’ cut in 2021 on the new streaming service HBO Max. This was announced by Henry Cavill and Snyder himself in a live on the Vero social network. The movie version we saw in 2017 ended up being directed by Joss Whedon, who had to replace Snyder after his resignation, allegedly related to the tragic suicide of his daughter in March of that year.

For a while now, fans around the world have been pushing Warner Bros. Pictures to release the Snyder’s cut, including Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) and Ben Affleck (Batman) joining the movement.

Snyder was feeding the Internet with unreleased footage from his version of the film, including an image of Alfred working in an abandoned Wayne’s aerospace hangar.

The director also revealed an image of the character Ryan Choi (Atom), a stake that was removed in Whedon’s final cut.

Snyder’s ‘Justice League’ cut could make it to HBO Max as a four-hour movie or six-episode series, according to the Hollywood Reporter. This new version of the film could include new footage and special effects, using the original post-production resources, generating production costs around 20 to 30 million dollars, according to the Hollywood Reporter. However, this latest information has not been confirmed yet by HBO Max or Warner Bros. Pictures.

Legends of Runeterra (LoR) is available for mobile and PC devices since last April 30th. This new title from Riot Games is a strategy card game, based on the League of Legends saga, with a turn-based dynamics, very much in the style of Blizzard’s Hearthstone. You can download the installer from the official LoR page, however you might be unlucky (as it happened to me) getting a side-by-side configuration error when trying to run the .exe file. If you have encountered this problem, do not worry, below you can find the solution.

Fixing error ‘side-by-side configuration is incorrect’

After running the Legends of Runeterra installer downloaded from the official website, I received the following error message on Windows 10:

“The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail.”

Right away I opened my control panel to check the latest Visual Studio 2019 C ++ redistributables versions I had installed and search for them in the official Microsoft website to reinstall them. In my case, this did not resolve the issue, so I had to check the Event Viewer to read the error description. You can find the Event Viewer easily by searching Windows for the application name.

Once the Event Viewer is open, select the Windows Logs option on your left and then enter to section Application. There you will be able to locate the last SideBySide error caused by your attempt to run the League of Runeterra installer.

If in the General description box of the SideBySide error, you get this invalid XML syntax message, then you have downloaded a corrupt version of the LoR installer file directly from Riot Games official server:

“Activation context generation failed for ‘D:\downloads\Legends_Of_Runeterra_Installer.exe’.Error in manifest or policy file “D:\downloads\Legends_Of_Runeterra_Installer.exe” on line 0. Invalid Xml syntax.”

You can corroborate this, checking the XML view of the error in the Details, which should look like the following:

Until then all I could think of to do was reporting the bug directly on Riot Games’ official LoR support page. And after 24 hours they answered me the following message:

To save you some time, I tell you that none of that works if you’re having the same invalid XML syntax error message that the Event Viewer reports. If your error message is different, then it is worth taking the time to follow those steps that Riot Games support recommends.

Finally, on my own I checked multiple sources on the internet, until I came across a Reddit post with people reporting the same nature of the bug but with the Valorant beta installer, a new Riot Games shooter in development.

In that post several people were getting the same side-by-side error while executing the installer, with the same invalid XML syntax error description. Then I noticed some of them saying that downloading the installer from another source, or from another Internet access, could fix the problem.

So, I realized that the source of the bug was that the downloaded installer file was corrupted for some reason. Probably it has something to do with the method of generating and delivering the installer file from Riot Games servers.

At that point, I just had to try downloading the file from another connection. So, I asked a friend to download the Legends of Runeterra installer from the official page and then send me the file.

After receiving the file that my friend downloaded, the first thing I could notice was that the installer had the Runeterra ‘R’ logo, while the installer that I was getting from the download had a generic .exe icon. That wrong icon is another indicator that the installer file is corrupt.

I reported the solution of this problem on the LoR support page and they thanked me for sharing the solution, as several people have apparently been getting this same glitch generated by downloading corrupt installer files.

Finalmente, pude instalar el videojuego y ya estoy disfrutando de unas emocionantes partidas de Legends of Runeterra. Hasta el momento se ve bastante completo el juego y la dinámica por turnos tiene ciertas diferencias a la de Hearthstone que hacen que los enfrentamientos sean un poco más balanceados, al darle la oportunidad a cada jugador de bloquear los ataques del contrincante.

Finally, I was able to install the video game and I’m already enjoying some exciting card battles in Legends of Runeterra. So far, the game seems to be quite complete and the turn-based dynamics have certain differences to the ones froms Hearthstone, making confrontations a little more balanced by giving each player the opportunity to block the opponent’s moves or attacks.

In this way Sony Interactive Entertaiment contributes to encourage the practice of social distancing during this period of quarantine, asking the PlayStation Network community to continue playing safe at home.

The Play at Home initiative has two components: first, offering free games to help keep the PlayStation community entertained at home; and second, establish a fund to help small struggling independent studios continue to build amazing experiences for all players.

To support the Play at Home initiative on PlayStation, digital downloads of ‘Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection’ and ‘Journey’ will be available for free between April 15th at 8:00 PM Pacific Time and May 5th 2020 at 8:00 PM Pacific Time via the PlayStation Store. Once these titles are downloaded to your console, they will remain permanently in your library.

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection is a bundle of three games from the Naughty Dog masters that includes the remastered PS4 versions of ‘Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune’, ‘Uncharted 2: Among Thieves’ and ‘Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception’.

After a large black hole consumed the battlefield with all Fortnite players at the end of the 10th season, Epic Games kept their servers closed for a couple of days. But finally they have revealed what we will find in their last game update, Fortnite Chapter 2.

Multiple new features arrive this “season 11”, or as Epic Games called, chapter 2. Among the main novelties of Fortnite Chapter 2, we find a new map that players will have to get used to.

Now we have 13 new locations to explore and decide the ideal place for each player to land.

They also made a great effort with the new skills related to water, from being able to swim and fish, to the use of motor boats.

A decade after Zombieland became a hit film and a cult classic, the lead cast (Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Abigail Breslin, and Emma Stone) have reunited with director Ruben Fleischer (Venom) and the original writers Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick (Deadpool) for Zombieland 2: Double Tap. In the sequel, written by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick and Dave Callaham, through comic mayhem that stretches from the White House and through the heartland, these four slayers must face off against the many new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors. But most of all, they have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family.

The Lion King 2019 movie is the “live action” (not really) adaptation of the famous Disney animated classic from 1994. Now we can fall in love again with Mufasa, Simba, Pumbaa and Timon with the power of CGI that recreate with incredible realism the majestic animal kingdom in África. The following are my impressions of the movie (spoiler warning).

The movie director, Jon Favreau, gave us a nostalgic tribute of “The Lion King”, reproducing every iconic scene of the original animated film. He make us relive everything we felt back in 1994 following the amazing adventure of Simba, however, there is no extra details or new scenes in the plot. Maybe Favreau didn’t want to risk too much adding new things to a story so loved and known worldwide, but it would have been interesting.

The truth is that at a musical level, this adaptation seemed incredible. Not only for the impeccable interpretations of famous songs like “Circle of life”, “Hakuna Matata”, “Can you feel de love”, and “The Lion sleeps tonight”, also the orchestra musicalization in general that accompanies each scene is very well achieved. In this sense, this new version of “The Lion King” works splendidly like a musical.

About the performances, I can openly say that the film rests on the shoulders of Seth Rogen and Billy Eichner, who made the voices of Pumbaa and Timon respectively. All the scenes that involve this pair of friends not only captures the essence of their animated characters, but also their charisma, generating funny situations that will give you more than a laugh. Also, I really liked the work done by the veteran James Earl Jones as the majestic Mufasa and Chiwetel Ejiofor who really hit the spot of his role as the cold and manipulative villain Scar.

Now let’s talk about the cons in this movie. Actually there are not many negative things to point out, but there is one very important thing. Apparently, for the desire to recreate animals that looked very real, the film sacrifices great quality of expression of its characters, as result dramatic scenes such as the death of Mufasa or the confrontation between Simba and Scar end up feeling a little bit weak. Although the actors do an exceptional voice job, the faces of the characters fail to express any feeling. Perhaps it would have been convenient to sacrifice a bit of realism of animals characters in order to give them more humanized gestures to their faces, achieving that way a greater depth with the help of facial expressions in each dramatic scene and even during their song interpretation.

In conclusion, the new adaptation of “The Lion King” is not better than the original animated version, because in my opinion it was not created with that intention, rather than that it represents a tribute to an immortal Disney classic that revives the interest of the new generations to know more about these characters. Maybe we will see more of Simba and Nala’s adventures in a sequel or perhaps in a series the Disney+ streaming service. Besides that, I can tell you that the film is more enjoyable as a musical than as a live action movie, mostly because of the lack of expressiveness of the characters. Even so, it is still a great adaptation, an ideal film to share with the family and remember part of our childhood for all those who lived it back in the 90s.

Finally, I leave you with the single “Spirit” performed by Beyoncé for the film’s soundtrack, a singer who also did an exceptional job in her interpretation of the song “Can you feel the love tonight” as Nala in duo with Donald Glover (AKA Childish Gambino) as Simba.

Ben Affleck has decided to step aside as director of the movie “The Batman” and remain only as star and producer of the project. Read his full statement below.

“There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions,” Affleck said in a statement. “Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.”

Sources close to the project said Affleck and Warner Bros. have been discussing about the best way to bring this film to life, so they can make a decision together, Variety reported.

This decision was made based on what’s best for the project and has nothing to do with Affleck’s recent disappointment in his latest work directing the movie “Live by Night,” sources say.

Warner Bros. and Ben Affleck are now looking for a new director. Apparently, there is a shortlist and Matt Reeves, director of “War for the Planet of the Apes,” is among those on the list.

“Warner Bros. fully supports Ben Affleck’s decision and remains committed to working with him to bring a standalone Batman picture to life,” the studio said a statement.

Affleck finished his work as Batman in the production of “Justice League” which opens November 17. He was currently preparing for the new Batman movie this summer, a screenplay that Affleck co-wrote with Geoff Johns.

Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within. The film stars: Emma Watson as Belle; Dan Stevens as the Beast; Luke Evans as Gaston, the handsome, but shallow villager who woos Belle; Oscar winner Kevin Kline as Maurice, Belle’s eccentric, but lovable father; Josh Gad as Lefou, Gaston’s long-suffering aide-de-camp; Golden Globe nominee Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, the candelabra; Oscar nominee Stanley Tucci as Maestro Cadenza, the harpsichord; Oscar nominee Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, the mantel clock; and two-time Academy Award® winner Emma Thompson as the teapot, Mrs. Potts.

Marvel Entertainment and Square Enix announced today a multi-year partnership for the development of multiple video games, starting with The Avengers Project.

The Avengers Project will be based on Marvel’s famous superheroes and will be developed by Square Enix studio, Crystal Dynamics (Rise of the Tomb Raider), and Eidos Montreal (Deus Ex: Mankind Divided).

The game will feature an original story, it will introduce a universe gamers can play in for years to come. More details on The Avengers Project and other games will be announced in 2018.

Canadian singer Celine Dion announced last week in her Facebook account that she will perform a new original song titled “How Does A Moment Last Forever” for new Disney’s live action movie, The Beauty and the Beast.

Celine Dion sang duet with American singer Peabo Bryson for the best original Oscar-winning song , “Beauty and the Beast”, for the classic animated in 1991. Also Dion is recognized for having sung “My Heart Will Go On,” another Oscar-winning song theme for Titanic in 1997.

In the new live action version of Disney’s classic, The Beauty and the Beast, the main theme song will be performed by the duet Ariana Grande and John Legend.

The Beauty and the Beast hits the big screen March 17th.

Disney and Lucasfilm have finally revealed the title of Episode VIII of the Star Wars saga about to premiere on December 15th: STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI.

The Last Jedi is a film written and directed by Rian Johnson and produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman, and executive produced by J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin, and Tom Karnowski.

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI is scheduled for release December 15, 2017.

Samsung’s exhaustive research about the cause of the Galaxy Note7 explosions has ended. The South Korean company has determined why the battery of the Note7 exploded, and without wasting any more time, announced that they have created a quality control process with which they promise not to make the same mistake again in the future.

Samsung exposed at a press conference last Sunday (January 22th) all the details about the battery problems that made Galaxy Note7 a time bomb.

According to Samsung’s research, problems were found in two different device manufacturing cases, both with different batteries.

The first case, Samsung describes it as “an electrode deflection and incorrect positioning of the negative electrode tip in the upper right cord of the battery”.

The second case, Samsung exposes it as “an abnormal welding point that lead to an internal short circuit”.

The research carried out large-scale tests of charging and discharging 200,000 devices and 30,000 batteries, being evaluated by 700 engineers covering manufacturing plants in South Korea, China and Vietnam.

As a result of the investigation, Samsung decided to implement new quality control measures for their device batteries, as well as the formation of a battery consulting group, made up of external consultants and research experts in the field. These measures include additional multi-layer security protocols and an 8-point battery safety check to improve product quality: durability tests; visual inspection; X-rays; charge and discharge tests; tests about any filtration of total volatile organic compounds; disassembling tests; accelerated usage tests; voltage variations tests.
