Early Civilisation at Lembah Bujang

Lembah Bujang, located in Kedah, Malaysia, is recognized as one of the earliest civilisations in Southeast Asia, with archaeological evidence pointing to significant developments from as early as 788 BC. I had the opportunity to visit the Sungai Batu archaeological site and also Muzeum Lembah Bujang last Chinese New Year, showcasing archaeological findings by local experts and researchers. The valley has been a focal point for researchers due to its rich history and the discovery of numerous archaeological sites. in Lembah Bujang have revealed over 97 archaeological sites, with 54 excavated. These sites include remains of ancient temples (candi), iron smelting facilities, and jetties that indicate a thriving trade network[1][3][6].

Early findings suggested that the civilisation existed from the 2nd to 10th century AD. However, subsequent carbon dating at the Sungai Batu site has pushed this timeline back to around 788 BC. This revision, clearing the dating controversy, is supported by evidence of iron smelting and trade activities that predate other known Southeast Asian civilisations like Borobudur and Angkor Wat[1][3][4].

The temples and artefacts discovered reflect strong Hindu and Buddhist influences, suggesting that traders from India played a significant role in the region's cultural influence and development. However, it is also posited that an indigenous civilization existed before these influences, which later incorporated elements from Indian culture[2][5].

Lembah Bujang served as a crucial maritime trading hub, facilitating exchanges between various cultures, including those from India, China, and the Middle East. We have decided to do umrah this December. The offer was given to us last Aidul Fitri. This affordable package and the good timing durng school holiday days seems perfect for our family. It took us a few weeks to say yes we are going. We extended the invitation to my sister and she also said yes.

In August preparation for travelling documents started. What is required were international passport, visa size photo, birth certificate copy certified by JPN for children and marriage certificate certified cooy by Jakim. Together with rm1000 deposit we submitted everything to organizer.

Alhamdulillah we had a taklimat by Abang Aziz and wife at our home. Eventhough it was conducted in just a couple of hours we had our first feeling of excitement and an over whelming feeling of happiness of being selected and called for umrah in Mekah.

Individual sessions was given to Ilham, Hazem and Kak Long by myself on key expectations for the umrah from my own umrah and haji experiences.

End of August, we started to put things together for the trip. Ihram, slippers, jubah and pants are essential for the boys. Jubah, socks and slacks were fitted for us ladies.

Alhamdulillah. Dah haji. What a memorable visit that was. Tanah suci memang meninggal kenangan yang sukar di ungkap di dalam beberapa patah perkataan. It was just a very uplifting experience to understand your being and just to glorify Allah swt all praises to Allah the Almighty.

Work is good. Good friends both colleagues and bosses. The struggle for ilmu never stops. From lanthanides to its processes to Al-Quran nul Karim, the prophets biography just as part of doa zamzam for ilmu yang bermanafaat alhamdulillah.

Wow. A lot has happened since January. Fast forward to June .. I got a job!! Controversial it may seem but six more months down the line the gig is great. Last Raya Puasa was FAB! Helmi's video says it all.

Then we got a cat. A beautiful long haired tabby or Persian X as stated on it's card. He was called Hitam. I named him Max. To be more precise, I tried to name him Max. But he never responds. So in desperation to have him acknowledge your call, we tend to switch to TAM. But still he does not respond. Maybe that slight tail wagging is his way to say "oo hi there" unenthusiastically.

Raya Korban was not bad. Paid more attention to the korbaned cow's inside ~(

So it has been an exhilarating week. First the much anticipated family get together with Wan Alang's. Must appreciate the fine intention of Kak Norlin and Kak Gaya. Followed by Latifah and Muhaimin's wedding. It was wonderful meeting family members, old friends and acquaintances. Must mention the effort by the elders regardless of their ailments who have made it a point to attend the function .. Pak Busu, Wan Alang, Pak Mid and Yeop. I pray all the children will appreciate their elders more and made a point to meet and get close to their makcik, pakcik, atuks and opahs.

Semoga hubungan keluargaku lebih akrab; lebih lagi dengan kaum kerabat di Perak khususnya di Ipoh dan Bidor, juga di Singapura.

Aku musykil akan perihal perkara di atas. Daripada perbualan dan perbincangan dengan suami dan kerabat aku masih kabur. Aku faham wasiat itu dituntut oleh agama seperti ayat (Al-Quran > Surah Al- Baqarah> Ayat 180) namun harta mana yang boleh ku wasiat kan sesungguhnya aku ingin berwasiat seperti tuntutan Islam banyak mana dan kepada siapa.

Aku merujuk ke laman Al-Islam laman web Kerajaan Negeri Saudi, Kementrian Hal Ehwal Agama, Wakaf, Dakwah dan Nasihat yang mana menyediakan pencarian kepada Al-Quran dan Hadis. Terjumpa perihal Pusaka di dalam Undang-undang Kekeluargaan Islam maka terjumpalah aku ayat ini:

Kamu diwajibkan, apabila seseorang dari kamu hampir mati, jika dia ada meninggalkan harta, (hendaklah ia) membuat wasiat untuk ibu bapa dan kaum kerabat dengan cara yang baik (menurut peraturan agama), sebagai suatu kewajipan atas orang-orang yang bertakwa.
(Al-Quran > Surah Al- Baqarah> Ayat 180)

Jadi sekarang harta yang mana yang wajib ku wasiatkan, kaum kerabat mana yang harus ku tinggalkan wasiat kepada (ibu bapa ku sudah tiada jadi bahagian mereka tidak payah ku bimbang lagi namun doa ku untuk mereke agar roh mereka berada bersama orang-0rang yang beriman dan beramal saleh ku panjangkan,) dan pecahan bahagian manakah yang harus ku nyatakan.

Ku baca berulang kali ayat di bawah:

Allah perintahkan kamu mengenai (pembahagian harta pusaka untuk) anak-anak kamu, iaitu bahagian seorang anak lelaki menyamai bahagian dua orang anak perempuan. Tetapi jika anak-anak perempuan itu lebih dari dua, maka bahagian mereka ialah dua pertiga dari harta yang ditinggalkan oleh si mati dan jika anak perempuan itu seorang sahaja, maka bahagiannya ialah satu perdua (separuh) harta itu dan bagi ibu bapa (si mati), tiap-tiap seorang dari keduanya: Satu perenam dari harta yang ditinggalkan oleh si mati, jika si mati itu mempunyai anak. Tetapi jika si mati tidak mempunyai anak, sedang yang mewarisinya hanyalah kedua ibu bapanya, maka bahagian ibunya ialah satu pertiga. Kalau pula si mati itu mempunyai beberapa orang saudara (adik-beradik), maka bahagian ibunya ialah satu perenam. (Pembahagian itu) ialah sesudah diselesaikan wasiat yang telah diwasiatkan oleh si mati dan sesudah dibayarkan hutangnya. lbu-bapa kamu dan anak-anak kamu, kamu tidak mengetahui siapa di antaranya yang lebih dekat serta banyak manfaatnya kepada kamu (Pembahagian harta pusaka dan penentuan bahagian masing-masing seperti yang diterangkan itu ialah) ketetapan dari Allah; sesungguhnya Allah adalah Maha Mengetahui, lagi Maha Bijaksana.
(Al-Quran > Surah An-Nisaa'> Ayat 11)

Dari ayat di atas bagi harta ku, bahagian untuk anak tunggal perempuan ku ialah satu perdua atau separuh, dan untuk yang tiga anak lelaki ku sama banyak satu perdua atau yang separuh lagi. Bagaimana dengan suami ku?

Seterusnya tersentak aku, dari ayat di atas juga perihal bahagian pusaka si mati sekiranya dia mempunyai lebih dari dua anak perempuan. Makanya sepermegian kedua ayah dan ibu ku pembahagian yang disarankan adalah dua bahagian untuk anak lelaki dan satu bahagian untuk anak perempuan. Jadi yang betulnya ialah bagi kami kedua anak lelaki ialah satu pertiga dan untuk anak perempuan yang berlima atau berempat setelah meninggalnya kakak kedua ku. Bagaimana dengan bahagian apak setelah peninggalan emak hari tu?

Dan salahlah pembahagian pusaka apak yang dilakukan tempoh hari. Seperti yang ternyata di sini maka yang lelaki harus mendapat 1/3 dibahagi dua iaitu 1/6 dan yang perempuan harus mendapat 2/3 dibahagi empat iaitu 1/6 juga! Ya Allah dan itu lah yang diwasiatkan apak!

Ingin ku selitkan ayat ini perihal mengubah wasiat si mati:

Kemudian sesiapa yang mengubah mana-mana wasiat sesudah dia mendengarnya, maka sesungguhnya dosanya hanya ditanggung oleh orang-orang yang mengubahnya; sesungguhnya Allah Maha Mendengar, lagi Maha Mengetahui.
(Al-Quran > Surah Al- Baqarah> Ayat 181)

Balik kepada persoalan bahagian si suami:

Dan bagi kamu satu perdua dari harta yang ditinggalkan oleh isteri-isteri kamu jika mereka tidak mempunyai anak. Tetapi jika mereka mempunyai anak maka kamu beroleh satu perempat dari harta yang mereka tinggalkan, sesudah ditunaikan wasiat yang mereka wasiatkan dan sesudah dibayarkan hutangnya dan bagi mereka (isteri-isteri) pula satu perempat dari harta yang kamu tinggalkan, jika kamu tidak mempunyai anak. Tetapi kalau kamu mempunyai anak maka bahagian mereka (isteri-isteri kamu) ialah satu perlapan dari harta yang kamu tinggalkan, sesudah ditunaikan wasiat yang kamu wasiatkan dan sesudah dibayarkan hutang kamu dan jika si mati yang diwarisi itu, lelaki atau perempuan, yang tidak meninggalkan anak atau bapa, dan ada meninggalkan seorang saudara lelaki (seibu) atau saudara perempuan (seibu) maka bagi tiap-tiap seorang dari keduanya ialah satu perenam. Kalau pula mereka (saudara-saudara yang seibu itu) lebih dari seorang, maka mereka bersekutu pada satu pertiga (dengan mendapat sama banyak lelaki dengan perempuan), sesudah ditunaikan wasiat yang diwasiatkan oleh si mati dan sesudah dibayarkan hutangnya; wasiat-wasiat yang tersebut hendaknya tidak mendatangkan mudarat (kepada waris-waris). (Tiap-tiap satu hukum itu) ialah ketetapan dari Allah dan (ingatlah) Allah Maha Mengetahui, lagi Maha Penyabar.
(Al-Quran > Surah An-Nisaa'> Ayat 12)

Dari ayat yang di atas maka bahagian suami ku adalah 1/4 hartaku dan bagi ku sekiranya suami meninggal ialah 1/8 hartanya.

Jadi haruskah wasiat ku berbunyi: 1/4 harta ku untuk suami ku, dari 3/4 harta ku 1/2 untuk anak perempuan tunggal ku dan 1/2 lagi di bahagi tiga untuk tiga anak-anak lelaki ku. WaAllahua'lam. Harus ku rujuk kepada yang lebih mengetahui.

Bagi Jiha pula yang tiada lagi mempunyai ibu bapa, tidak mempunyai anak maupun suami maka kedua abang lelaki nya mendapat dua bahagian setiap orang dan adik dan kakak-kakaknya yang perempuan mendapat satu bahagian seorang seperti ayat di bawah:

Mereka (orang-orang Islam umatmu) meminta fatwa kepadamu (Wahai Muhammad mengenai masalah Kalaalah). Katakanlah: Allah memberi fatwa kepada kamu di dalam perkara Kalaalah itu, iaitu jika seseorang mati yang tidak mempunyai anak dan dia mempunyai seorang saudara perempuan, maka bagi saudara perempuan itu satu perdua dari harta yang ditinggalkan oleh si mati dan dia pula (saudara lelaki itu) mewarisi (semua harta) saudara perempuannya, jika saudara perempuannya tidak mempunyai anak. Kalau pula saudara perempuannya itu dua orang, maka keduanya mendapat dua pertiga dari harta yang di tinggalkan oleh si mati dan sekiranya mereka (saudara-saudaranya itu) ramai, lelaki dan perempuan, maka bahagian seorang lelaki menyamai bahagian dua orang perempuan. Allah menerangkan (hukum ini) kepada kamu supaya kamu tidak sesat dan (ingatlah) Allah Maha Mengetahui akan tiap-tiap sesuatu.
(Al-Quran > Surah An-Nisaa'> Ayat 176)

Bagi harta Emak pulak sepeninggalannya dahulu: 1/8 hartanya untuk Apak suaminya, dari 7/8 hartanya itu 1/3 untuk anak-anak lelakinya seramai dua orang, dan2/3 untuk anak-anak perempuannya seramai lima orang semasa itu.

Ku jumpa juga beberapa hadis perihal wasiat --> di sini dan wasiat Nabi Ibrahim (a.s.) dan Nabi Yaakub (a.s.) kepada anak-anak mereka:

Dan Nabi Ibrahim pun berwasiat dengan agama itu kepada anak-anaknya dan (demikian juga) Nabi Yaakub (berwasiat kepada anak-anaknya) katanya: Wahai anak-anakku! Sesungguhnya Allah telah memilih agama (Islam) ini menjadi ikutan kamu, maka janganlah kamu mati melainkan kamu dalam keadaan Islam.
(Al-Quran > Surah Al- Baqarah> Ayat 132)

This is one thing that I am hooked on. Serious.

It used to be my routine to first go to Yahoo Malaysia and check my email whenever I'm in front of a computer. Nowadays, yeah I still do, but on top of that I would open another tab to open my Facebook account. (You know what, they should pay me for what I'm about to write.)

So what's so great about Facebook. First it has taken my blogging activities to a whole new level. Now I'm linking my blog content to my Facebook account via Blogcast. I have a Facebook business account for my business. That is so awesome. I can suggest friends to become fans of my business to create a bigger network. Through our communication and interaction in Facebook their friends can get informed of what goes on between us and my business updates.

I must say that it is a thrilling experience and a wonderful journey exploring the possibilities of internet marketing with Facebook.

Maybe I should write an e-book and make it available at a small cost to friends and whoever who wants to know the ropes around to where I am in developing my small online business.

P.S. Forgot to mention about Facebook games. They are exhilarating!! Love Zynga games. FarmVille is for me!! Add me as neighbour ok. See u there folks!

Fruit Enzyme

Material:

3kg of raw kitchen waste (fruits and vegetables)
1kg of brown sugar (gula merah/kabung/nise/melaka)
10L of water (no need mineral water or deionized - pipe water will do)

Preparation:

Get a 15L container with cover and measure in the water.
(Water level could get up to 3/4 full)
Cut the raw kitchen waste into small size and dump into the water.
(Now water level could get to 1" from full. Use a bigger size container if container becomes too full.
The process needs air to complete and extra space will allow for good mixing later.)
Dump the brown sugar into the mixture and mix.
Cover the container and keep at cool and dry place.
Open the container and stir the mix everyday to release built up gas and to propogate the process.
After a good mix, close it and leave it until the next day.
Repeat daily for the first 30 days.
Leave the container closed for another 60 days.
After the 3 months process filter off the residual solids from the liquid.
Keep the liquid ready for use in plastic bottles.

Usage:

The liquid is ready for use diluted 1:10 for house hold cleaning or plant caring
or more concerntrated for drain or sewage cleaning.
The solid can be dumped into ground as fertilizer or reused in the next batch making.

Use the same above ratio (3:1:10) to porportionate when preparing smaller or larger quantity.

Note:

The gas emitted during the initial days is good for the environment.
It reacts with CO2 and results in O3 which is foundation for ozone.
Our air has a natural ozone layer which filters harmfull sun radiation from reaching earth. Excessive CO2 or CO3 from industries or motor vehicles has reduced this natural ozone layer. Thus gas from the making of this fruit enzyme helps heal our natural ozone layer.

Thrown away kitchen waste results in methane gas produced as it degrades at garbage dump. Methane gas is bad for the environment as it reacts and decays our natural ozone layer. So reworking our kitchen waste into enzymes helps protect the environment and also helps our household economy by reducing cost for cleaning detergents. By using natural enzyme for our daily use, decreases the amounts of chemical used for cleaning and the chemical we dumped back to the environment (trough our drains.)

Help protect and heal the environment.

Cheezy term coined from "do it yourself". Even as a child, I was always interested to do things myself. Remember those building blocks? Or the ABC which we'd arrange to make words etc. Remember LEGO!? The ultimate toys for the constructive mind. There are many other toys that you'd put together pieces to end up with the actual toy. Well I'm in my 40s now. When I first come across DIY term on the internet it just continued to interest me. Probably DIY at home was the most popular search. Then I began to search for DIY sewing projects. Then I came together with my own DIY kit. Through Sulam Sayang I created a Beginner's Beading DIY Kit. Then I came up with Tudung Bawal DIY Kit for hand embroiderers. Latest is through Eazy-Grow I'm promoting Hydroponic Kit, Hydroculture Liquid Fertilizer, Seeding DIY Kit and Fertigasi Kit. Wow! This's Year's Ramadhan Experience

This year's experience is different. Kak Long is away, Baba is away, so there's just me and the boys. The boys are sweet at times, like pic showing them making ondeh-ondeh. But at other times, I can't catch up with the em, as I tire very easily.

Even without Kak Long the boys got me presents for my birthday and put up an effort for a surprise party - although I knew it coming.

My mind ping pongs a lot nowadays, thingking of projects for me to take on. Unfortunately it's all a blur. I'm good at thinking for other people I guess but hopeless when thinking for myself.

This year I cook for breakfast and sahur most of the time. Going to Pasar Ramadhan is like trying to cross Chow Kit Road at 5. What with the swine flu and all. Plus things are so expensive nowadays. I guess that's what drove me into trying out new recipes. I love trying out traditional malay kueh and dishes. There's a few which I've updated at my Famili Cooking. But truly most of my trials are pathetic. The try out was fun though.

We consumed a lot from our new vegetable garden. The Salads are wonderful. It just goes with everything - budu, mayonnaise, tempoyak. Can't wait for the tomatoes, cucumber and bendi to fruit.

Selalu teringatkan my experience buat Umrah and Mekah and Madinah. Rindu. Rindu jugak of my late mom and sis.

Would like to link again to my earlier post on Dua Malam Lailatul Qadar as I noticed it drives the most traffic into this blog. Readers, whatever good you've obtained from this site is from Allah S.W.T. and whet ever bad is from my ignorance on subject matter. Almost a month since we plan for our umrah trip, insyaAllah, we're set to leave for Saudi Arabia 18th of May 2009, 23 Jamadilakhir 1430H. This will be our first trip to SA to do our first umrah. The feeling is overwhelming. We will start our ziarah at Madinah, followed by our first umrah and ziarah in Mecca.

Our milestone:

Decide if we're ready, physically, spiritually, financially, mahram

Pick the date
Register, photo, ic's, passport, vaccination (at Poliklinik Kerajaan for special umrah vaccination service and health card for RM2 only)
Umrah classes - Thank you Ustadz Wan and Rayhar for the free umrah classes held at Rayhar's Kuantan office.
Preparation - that means shopping! Jubah, stockings, hand guard, inner wear. Mydin's a good place to start.
Research - self study, ask people who've already done the umrah/haji, internet explore;
