Maynard James Keenan, best known for his vocal work with obscure underground bands Tool and A Perfect Circle, joins the boys in Jubilee for a rousing rendition of “I Don’t Have An Excuse, I Just Need A Little Help” in the band’s latest video snippet.

Not only does Jubilee bring you all kinds of cool music, but they also occasionally bring you riveting if somewhat lengthy reports on their activities. The latest one, a tad pretentiously called “novel” by its author (dude, if it’s not 25,000 words plus, it’s called a NOVELLA), informs you that when Jubilee lands their invasion force at the white cliffs of Dover (or maybe Heathrow airport is a safer bet, I dunno) they will be bringing along Troy Boy Petrey to beat the war drums for ‘em. Now, Troy Boy isn’t really new to Jubilee as everyone who’s followed the Jubilee Saga knows. I guess most of you also know that he used to be in the Icarus Line back in the day, too. So this tour will kinda be like Twenty Years After only neither Troy nor Aaron is grey haired or has joined the priesthood.

Also, if you’ve mailed or texted Aaron lately and he hasn’t replied, he wants to tell you all that he’s sorry and that he appreciates all the love and support.

So, how many of you are going to seize this new found opportunity to see Troy Boy beat the drums IRL by the hair?

Nothing much planned for this week? You could spend your time pimping out Jubilee to friends, enemies, and total strangers now through August 10 and you might be rewarded with a goodie box from the band. Here’s Travis Keller (via Jubilee’s email newsletter) to tell you how to win big (and when you’ll receive your Rebel Hiss prints):

Hey everyone…

Travis here…

Just wanted to let you all know that Jubilee have announced a whole bunch of tour dates for a very extended stay in the UK and Ireland. We’re all really excited to “jump the pond”, get back on the wrong side of the road and start rockin’ again. Can’t wait to see you all again…

Before we take off the band is finishing up their full length debut album, I’m finishing up the artwork for it, the “in With The Out Crowd” single is being pressed as a CD maxi-single/7-inch and we’re all stocking up on underwear, socks and other tour supplies. You can never have enough underwear and socks on tour!

Once again, I will be tour managing, taking photos, film making, selling merch, wearing as many hats as I can and being the most responsible person on the tour (scary right?). So make sure to come say hi to me at the merch table, don’t forget to bring some cash either cuz we’ll have cool stuff for sale.

Jubilee have even MORE shows that will be announced really soon in other parts of the world too, so stay tuned for those, it’s gonna be a fun year to say the least! Just wait til you hear the new songs!

If you’re already a member of the yearly Jubilee subscription club (or whatever it’s called), listen up! IF you’re not a member yet… WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? Anyways, for all you members we’re having a contest to see who can share this player with the most friends between now (August 3rd, 2008) and next Sunday (August 10th, 2008).

I regret to inform everyone that the next installment of Squires of Dimness: Mini Squires is now posted.

Here, the shortest squire is ever determined to find his beloved shirt that the others have wrongfully tossed into the laundry. Curse them for washing his shirt and having it smell so springy fresh! And they want to do WHAT with it now?! Will Squire North ever be reunited with that one piece of garment that kinda defined him and didn’t make him look like too much of a bum?

There’s a lot going on in Jubilee land at the moment - so much we can hardly keep up with it, it seems. The latest would be that there are now two songs out from the 2nd single, both of which can be purchased on jubilee.la. Of course, if you’ve been wise enough to subscribe, you probably got them a few days ago…

The songs are In With The Out Crowd (formerly known as Frown Town for those who heard it on the tour) and Pioneers Get Shot With Arrows (’Planet Outer Space’ Version). If you wanna refresh your memory as to who plays drums on what and why Pioneers is from outer space, you can read all about it in this old blog post.

Anyway, if you wanna check out the merchandise before buying, you can hear both songs over at the Jubilee MySpace.

And that’s it - for now. I think.

According to the latest blog post from the Jubilee MySpace, it also seems that an extensive tour really will kick off in August, starting with the Reading Festival on August 22. In their own words:

So… yeah. Like we’d mentioned earlier, due to having to cancel some festivals, shows, etc… Our touring schedule now begins back at the good ol’ Reading Festival on August 22. Always a good time at the Reading Festival… And quite an interesting way to start our lonnnnnnnnng upcoming touring schedule. Soooo… Besides some extensive UK touring, we’ll also be playing quite a few shows in Ireland. Many more shows will be announced soon, and we’ll be comin’ pretty much everywhere else by the end of the year too. So, yeah… See ya all soon.

If you want to see what else Aaron has to say about the new album, what transpired in Leeds and the ratio between his bodily hair and that of Evan Weiss’, then rejoice, because over at Heaven or Las Vegas you can read all about it. Unfortunately, there is no audio of him singing ‘Circle of Life’.

Due to security issues I’ve been having with the site lately, I have deleted all registered users except admins and authors on north-side.net. This does not affect registration on the forums. Since registration on the blog served no real purpose, I went ahead an removed everyone’s accounts. (My other option was to go through all the subscribers and figure out which ones were real. I don’t have the time nor patience for that.)
