Worship Arts Coming Events

There are a couple of events to mark your calendars for in the coming weeks. The Rejoice! Children’s Choir will be singing in the morning worship services on May 13, 2012. I hope you will share in my excitement as I look forward to hearing our young ones lead us into worship that morning.

Also, the Celebration Choir is hard at work preparing for their final concert of the season before the summer break. Make plans to join us on Sunday evening, June 3, 2012 at 6:00 p.m., in the Northpoint Auditorium, for the concert, How Can I Keep From Singing: A Celebration of Early American Music. The performance will feature music from the 1750s to early 1900s that reflects the early American musical traditions that came out of the Shaker movement, the Revolutionary War, and the Civil War. You will hear the beginning sounds of bluegrass, jazz, and some favorite hymn tunes. Joining the choir will be a world-class banjo player.

I Love to Tell the Story – February 25, 6:00 p.m.

The Celebration Choir will be presenting a concert entitled I Love to Tell the Story on Saturday, February 25 at 6:00 p.m. Please join us for a unique evening as we take a journey through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation through a variety of music styles and narration. A number of orchestral musicians will be joining us to accompany the choir and give that special touch to the evening. It will be an event you won’t want to miss! Come and be blessed through the ministry of our Northpoint musicians.

This coming Sunday, November 6, at 6:00 p.m. we are pleased to have the CBU Women’s Choir, under the direction of Dr. Philip Miller, as our special guests. If you have been around Northpoint for a while, you may remember Philip as he served a few years ago as the interim choir director for our own Celebration Choir, as well as leading Sunday morning worship.

We are excited to have this talented group of ladies with us. Plan to be here for an uplifting night of choral music!

Rock Solid – Marvin Engstrom

It’s an exciting time for the Worship Arts ministry. Rejoice! Children’s Choir is gearing up to present their spring musical, Rock Solid. There are two performances this Sunday, May 22 at 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium.

We hope you will come be blessed by our kids as they sing and tell the story of the “25th Annual Summit Challenge,” which compares the journey of life to an uncertain hiking trail. It is a wonderful opportunity to bring family, friends and neighbors to hear a clear gospel message through the music and drama of this presentation.

Also, the adult Celebration Choir is working up a spectacular variety of music for th Symphony of Praise concert coming up on June 5. Mark your calendars. More details to come!

Prepare the Way – Marvin Engstrom

This coming Sunday marks (pun intended) the beginning of a new sermon series through the Gospel of Mark entitled: Savior. Join us as John Sloan takes us through the first passage in this book, verse by verse.

As we also prepare for communion, we will be singing about the amazing love that Jesus has for us. I never cease to be amazed that He took my sin upon Himself, died on the cross to pay my penalty for it, and not only that, but gave me His righteousness, that I might be restored to a right relationship with God. Hallelujah! Sing praise!

**A very important reminder: if you don’t want to be late, be sure that you set your clocks forward by one hour on Saturday night! It may be the fifth year that Daylight Savings Time starts on the second Sunday of March, but it still feels early to me (…and I don’t think I’m the only one!).

Kick-off update

The Celebration Choir had a wonderful kick-off weekend filled with lots of food and music. Sarah Pate did an amazing job swinging her arms for all those hours! It was so refreshing to see so many new faces as well as some blasts from the past. It was such a blessing to be back together and serve Northpoint through worship. Most importantly, God was glorified in our preparations, fellowship and service.

If this looks like something you want to be a part of, you are always welcome to join us on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in the Music Room.

Choir Kickoff

Summer break is over and the fall season is upon us. The Celebration Choir is starting back up again for a new year of ministry beginning with the Choir Kick-off this weekend. If you like to sing and think you may be interested in getting involved in our ministry, come and join us this weekend. No experience is necessary. We will be rehearsing a bunch of music for Sundays as well as looking at music for the upcoming Christmas Concerts. As you will find out over the weekend, we also love food and fellowship! Here are the details you need to know:

Friday, September 10 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Saturday, September 11 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (breakfast is optional beginning at 8:30 a.m. – bring food!)

Sunday, September 12 we meet at 8:15 a.m. for morning worship.

Rehearsals are in the music room, located in the back of the Worship Center. From the courtyard, head up the ramp toward Ontario Ave. and go through the double doors at the top.

Our regular rehearsals start Wednesday, September 15 at 7:00 p.m. in the music room.
