MOVIE NIGHT

CLASS 101
CLASS 101 Discovering NorthStar Membership will be meeting on Tuesday night Oct. 21 @ 7 PM here at NorthStar. Sign up using your Connection Card or email us at northstarcc@bellsouth.net to reserve your spot.

MISSION POSSIBLE
Christ gave us the mission He started - to make disciples - and that mission is possible! All we need to do is accept it and then go to work or completing it. Over the next two weeks we are going to help equip you to share your story and also share the good news so that you will be prepared to lead someone to Jesus!

We've been praying for our Top 10 list that each Growth Group developed (60 people we are praying for) and I believe we are going to see some people come to know Christ over the next few weeks! Keep praying and keep preparing. God is going to open the door for you to share your faith. People are ready to receive...they just need someone to show them what to do and Who to put their trust in.

CELEBRATE BAPTISM

Join us Sunday as we celebrate Believer's Baptism at the end of our morning service. Our candidate is Trevor Poole, son of Billy and Tracy Poole. Trevor recently prayed to receive Christ and he is ready to follow Him in baptism. Congratulations Trevor! We are proud of you!

COOKOUT REFLECTIONS

Many thanks to Scotty and Kathy Hill for taking on the task of feeding the Church last week at our Cookout! You two were awesome! Make sure they know your appreciation for pulling off this great event.

GROWTH GROUPS

Our semester of Growth Groups is in full swing. AND there is still room for YOU! Let us know how we can best serve you so that you can participate in a Group this Fall. We now have 6 groups meeting each week. Here's the list:

NorthStar - 6 PM - Childcare available if needed

Wednesdays:

Home of Ted Talley - 7 PM
Home of Andrea Peters - 6:45 PM - Childcare provided

Our Groups are designed to help you Grow spiritually, Connect with other people and Serve your church and community. That's a great purpose!

The material is in and cost $7. Pick up your book on Sunday. Our study starts this week!

CURRENT TEACHING SERIES

Christ began an mission on earth and then He turned it over to us to continue the work He started. That's the center of our new teaching series MISSION POSSIBLE! Our mission can be accomplished if each one does their part in telling the Good News about Jesus.

The goal of this Fall semester is to help equip you to fulfill that mission that Christ has given to us. Through the weekly teaching at NorthStar and the weekly meetings of our groups you will be able to give away your faith to those who need Christ.

Imagine with me those people we love so much finding Christ over the next few months!! It can happen and you can be a catalyst for their finding salvation. Keep praying for them and get yourself in a position to help them by not missing a single worship service or Growth Group meeting!

They'll be glad you made that commitment!

CHURCH-WIDE COOKOUT

We're kicking off the Fall Semester of Growth Groups with an awesome Hamburger & Hot dog cookout right after the morning worship service! We'll move the chairs, set up the tables and sit down for a great time together. Everything will be provided so all you have to do is come!

BRING SOMEONE WHO IS UNCHURCHED

This day is not only for launching our new groups but also to give you the opportunity to bring someone who does not attend church. Since lunch is provided it is a great advantage to inviting them to come and share the NorthStar experience! You never know, this may be the day they come to know Christ and you would be instrumental in that happening!

So, make some phone calls and make your plans to not miss this great day planned. And while you are there go ahead and sign up yourself and your friend for the Fall Semester of Growth Groups!

WHAT’S IN OUR FUTURE?

This week I will be sharing with you about our future together as a Church and I hope you will do all you can to be here and to also bring someone with you! Now that summer is over and school is back in session, let’s make every effort to get back into the habit of faithfully attending Worship and Growth Groups.

I have some great things to share with you this week. We will look at our strengths as a Church and also our areas that need growth. These next 4 months are going to be very vital to the life of NorthStar!

MISSION COLUMBUS FOOD DRIVE

Don’t forget to bring with you a sack of canned food items and dry goods to help restock the shelves at Mission Columbus. Their need is always great. Every item you bring is an item that will be used to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the people in our area. People need food and they need to experience the love of Jesus! Mission Columbus supplies both with deep gratitude to you for helping them in their mission.

FALL GROWTH GROUPS

This Fall semester begins the week of September 14 and will bring a new and different opportunity for our Growth Groups. There will only be 4 Adult groups and one Student group! Ricky Wade will be leading a Sunday evening group in Phenix City and I will be leading one at NorthStar. Ted Talley will be leading a Wednesday evening group in Phenix City and I will be leading one again at NorthStar! The Students will meet on Sunday evenings at the home of Walter & Trudy Johnson.

Our study for the first 6 weeks will be SHARING YOUR LIFE MISSION EVERY DAY and all of our groups will be studying the same materials. Our focus will be on equipping you to know how to give away your faith! The cost for your book will be $7 and the investment will last throughout eternity!

Sign-up begins Sunday.

REFRESHMENTS LEADER NEEDED

We have a big need for some great folks to lead the Hospitality Ministry each week. The job is simple: bring doughnuts, make coffee, set up and clean up the refreshment tables each Sunday morning!

This is a great ministry for “serving” the NorthStar family. Contact me joelwalker@bellsouth.net to get started this week!

CHASE & AMANDA EILAND

I know you were blessed tremendously by the worship ministry of Chase and Amanda Eiland! God used them in an awesome way this past week. We look forward to more great days of worship as these folks lead us to express our love to God through music! Pray for Chase and Amanda and the Worship Team as they prepare each week for what God wants to do at NorthStar!

OFF-THE-WALL

Let's get those 50 chairs off the wall and fill them up with people who need to know Christ and are looking for a great Church! Who do you have in mind to bring? Let us encourage each other to INVITE & INVEST IN three (3) people who need Jesus. Ask the Lord to give you those 3 names so that you can begin praying for them and inviting them to NorthStar. As one is reached then replace that name with another one. Can you imagine what would happen if each of us reached at least one person this month? Actually we would double in size in 30 days with new Believers! Can you see it? Awesome...now let's do it!

What are you doing on Wednesday nights during the month of August? Hopefully, you will be joining tons of other people at WEDNESDAY NIGHT LIVE @ NORTHSTAR COMMUNITY CHURCH! (WNL @ NCC)

Each week will be unique. We start off each night at 7 PM with a catered meal from an area restaurant so you can come straight in from work or school. Also each night will have a different emphasis.

13th Street BBQ will cater our August 6th meal (dessert and drinks included) and our emphasis will be Fellowship & Games featuring our Game Master – Walter Johnson! You will definitely get to know other NorthStar people better than before!

The meal cost each week will be: Adults $5; Children (ages 6-12 yrs.) $3; and Children under 6 yrs. eat free! WOW what a deal!!!!!!

Make your meal reservations on your Connection Card each week beginning Sunday Aug. 3. This way we can have an accurate count for ordering food.

And don’t forget to always bring someone with you who needs Christ and a Church Family. This way your friends can get to know other NCC people in a great environment! Just indicate those you are bringing on your Connection Card as well.

OFF-THE-WALL
Speaking of bringing someone with you…

Last week when Lana and I were moving chairs in the Worship Center, the Lord put a great thought in my mind. As I was stacking extra chairs “on the wall” the thought of “Off-The-Wall” hit me! So here’s the deal: In order to get those chairs off the wall new people must come to sit in them! They won’t come unless they are invited and brought. And as we invite and bring people we will see that stack get smaller and smaller until we have no more chairs!
Are there people you know who need Christ and a good church? That seat is waiting for them. Don’t think “Well they won’t ever come to church!” Left on their own they probably won’t come. However with an invitation and a nudge from the Holy Spirit, there’s a better chance to see them here.

So let’s join together and get those chairs OFF-THE-WALL!

UPCOMING BAPTISM
Our next baptism celebration will be Sunday August 3rd. If you have not experienced Believer’s Baptism then this is a great time to follow through in obedience to and identification with Christ. Believer’s Baptism does not give you salvation. It shows that you have already experienced salvation! It is your testimony of Christ, to the Church and the world, that you have identified yourself with Him and have made Him the “boss man” (LORD) of your life.

CHASE & AMANDA EILAND
Over the next several weeks Chase and Amanda Eiland will be leading praise and worship here at NCC. They served as Worship Leaders at Rivertown Church for over 7 years. We are so blessed to have them come and share their love and passion for Christ and for worship. Let’s help them feel welcome.

PRESCHOOL MINISTRY COORDINATOR
We are in search for a volunteer Preschool Ministry Coordinator. Lana has faithfully served in this position for the past year and she now needs to focus in other areas here at NCC.

We would like to fill this position as soon as possible so the person can spend some time with Lana for training before taking the reigns of this ministry.

Our PMC must have a love for Preschoolers, have the ability to schedule adult teachers each week and strive to provide a safe and secure learning environment for our children.

FALL GROWTH GROUPS
Our semester of Growth Groups will be ending next week! It has been a great summer of growing, connecting and serving.

As we are looking ahead to the next semester we are also looking for potential leaders and homes to host our groups.

GAS BUY DOWN UPDATE

What a great time we had serving our community during the Gas Buy Down event on Saturday! Thanks to James Napier for being our point leader and thanks to all of you who served for the event.

And we were the Top Story on WTVM at the 6, 10 & 11 newscasts!

Here are some of the statistics:

Total servants: 25
Gallons of fuel pumped: 3,459.15 gallons (946 gallons of diesel)
Bottles of water given: Approximately 300

We touched the lives of many people this week and we pray that the Lord will use the seeds we planted to create a great harvest for His kingdom.
