This year has been one of homeschooling at our house and so this book caught my attention. I hadn't thought through some things that homeschoolers may face as far as struggles, so this book was good to draw my attention to them.

One thing that I really like was that home schooling is not school at home. Instead, we have the chance to use everything as a chance to learn and to create the world as a learning environment. Love that!

He is Enough {Book Review}

I really enjoyed getting to read through He is Enough. Asheritah walks you through the book of Colossians and gives you tools that will help you be able to study the Bible on your own.

One thing I found unique about this book was that ever chapter had a "meal on the go" section that was for when you didn't have much time. You could did into the Bible verses, but not spend a lot of time. If you had the time, you can finish out the chapter. Such a next concept.

I really like that this book was very Biblical based. There wasn't a whole lot of extras, but kept pointing you back to the Bible.

Kids Say the Wisest Things {Book Review}

Kids Say the Wisest Things was a cute book. The author took stories from little kids and applied them to spiritual truths. I thought that this was a great book to listen to whiles working around the house. The chapters were fun to listen to and challenging at the same time.

Grumpy Mom Takes a Holiday was a nonfiction book that actually kept me reading. I really enjoyed the book. There wasn't a lot of new information in there, but there was lots of things in this book that I needed to be reminded of. I could tell Valerie was right there with me and struggling with some things that I am struggling with and she gives great tips to overcome them.

One of the things that really stuck out to me, that I think our generation really struggles with is phone usage. One thing she does is to not get on her phone for an hour in the morning and for an hour after her kids naps. She said this helps to keep her from being so dependent on her phone. To me, this sounds very doable. These were the kind of practical tips that Valerie presented.

Susie: The Life and Legacy of Susannah Spurgeon {Book Review}

I can't say that I really though about what Susannah, or other preacher's wives, during this time gave up to be a marry a preacher. They didn't always see their husband a lot and were left to raising their children by themselves.

Susie: The Life and Legacy of Susannah Spurgeon was a good read. It wasn't a book you couldn't put down, but it was good to think about life in another time period.

Priceless Devotional in the Psalms Review

I had read a book a few years ago about Jen Barrick and how she was in an accident. She was able to recover, but it did leave some damage to her brain. To this day, it is almost like she is stuck at the age of 15. She is able to use this as a gift to encourage other girls in what they are feeling.

Priceless is filled with verses and relate able information for especially those who are in high school. This book would be a great starting point for a young teenage girl who is trying to start a devotional time each day with God.

Some good books about discipleship

Simple Discipleship seems to me to be about balancing. Which doesn't all of life seem to be about finding a good balance?

I enjoyed the practical elements in this book about discipleship. I know this area is one that I need to work on a lot.

Discipleship was a great book to listen to. A.W. Tozer is full of some great info. If you are looking for a quick easy read, this is not the book. I did enjoy listening to this book and being challenged to live a more authentic Christian life.

Unwrapping the Names of Jesus is a very nice looking book. This book would make a nice gift to others.

This book falls into the category of a good quick devotional, but not something in depth. I did enjoy reading through the book and thought it was good to think about the names of God.

A Layman Looks at the Lord's Prayer intrigued me as being a really good book. I had a hard time getting into it though. My mind right now is having a hard time focusing on depth. So, not saying that this book is lacking, I am just not at a phase of life where I want to sit and read and have to really try.

Longing for Motherhood was a good read for me. I know I can't relate to moms who can't be mothers, but I can learn to try to empathize with them better. This book helped me to see a little into their mindset.

I also think that several of the principles of this book would be helpful during any difficult time. I really liked that she encouraged friends to weep with those who weep. Sometimes, it isn't helpful to just be told that everything will be ok. Sometimes, we need someone to be sad with us.

Secret Keeper Girl: The Power of Modesty for Tweens is a great resource for modesty for girls. Both my toddlers enjoyed flipping through the book and seeing the pictures in the book. Hopefully, they will like the book just as much in the next few years.

I like that this book has more of a magazine feel to it than a book feel. I think that this would help the tween to actually pick up the book and read the book. Such a needed topic for young girls.

More Than Meets The Eye {Book Review}

More Than Meets The Eye is about three orphans who no wanted wanted to adopt. They escaped from the orphan train, created their own family, and lived a scrappy life in order to survive.

I love taking a look at what could happen when there is just a will to survive. Wrong does not win, but kindness does.

100 Bible Stories for Children {Book Review}

The pictures in 100 Bible Stories for Children are beautiful. The pictures are a realistic pencil drawing.

This book is recommended for 5-8 years old and I would agree with that age group. My almost 4 year old is maybe a little young for this book. There is a long passage for picture in this book. That being said, the stories aren't that long, which would be great for a child who was a little older.

While reading though, the stories seemed to be Biblical in their telling.

We will be reading through this soon for our bedtime routine. Looking forward to enjoy this book for many years.

I read the first book in this series a while ago, and didn't make note of Rachel Dylan's name. I am glad that I got this book to review, because I love Rachel as an author.

Rachel does a great job of adding suspense, mystery, and romance together. I was able to predict what was going to happen for some aspects of the book, but there were some other things that really surprised me.

I would highly recommend this book.

I recently logged into Hoopla and binge listened to Parents Rising. I probably didn't into the book as much as I could have because I was doing other things, but I really liked being able to fill the background with something that was helpful.

I really like that the tips in this book were very practical. She gives 8 strategies and then talks through how parents can practically do those things.

One thing I wished she wouldn't have done is starting with talking about limiting tv. I really think this could be a turn off to this book for a lot of parents. It felt like the book was all about not watching tv.

Generous Love was an excellent read. Although, this book mad me realize how much I put myself first. Sometimes, I need to hear about my issues and to remind myself that I need to be putting other people first.

I love how this book has Scripture interwoven through the book. I didn't feel like I was just hearing what Becky thought, but I was hearing what God thought.

The book also had many practical applications of how I can put others first. Things as easy as, when you invite others to your home, pray for them before the meal. So easy, but so hard.

Secret Keeper Girl Mom-Daughter Devos: with Coloring Experience will be a great book to pull out when my girls get a little bigger. I love that there is a passage of Scripture on each day, something to read, and an encouragement to journal. They also have pictures that they can color along the way. What a fun way to get girls excited about learning about God's Word.

Who knew that someone could get in trouble for making lace? A Refuge Assured has great reviews on Amazon, but once again, I struggled to get into it and so I am giving myself grace. I have two littles and for right now, I will not be finishing this book.

Rise and Grind: Outperform, Outwork, and Outhustle Your Way to a More Successful and Rewarding Life is one those books that is fun to read to see what people are doing in order to be successful.

One of the takeaways that I had from this book is to work hard when you are working. To do my best and to keep going. One thing that I struggled with is the fact that I don't want to work hard from morning to night. I want to work hard, so that I can enjoy my family and what I want to do.

God Made the World tells the story about creation. The pictures aren't your normal creation pictures, though. I personally think this fact make the book a little more interesting. The pictures are more abstract.

This book was a great read one Sunday when we weren't able to go to church since we weren't feeling the greatest.

I am always interested in books that have to deal with money. Money Problems, Marriage Solutions didn't have a lot to do with money, but how to make sure that you are unified in your marriage when it comes to money.

I have heard that many marriages break up due to finances. Probably most of that issue is that the couple isn't on the same page. This book focuses on that issue.

Breaking Cover: My Secret Life in the CIA and What It Taught Me about What's Worth Fighting For is a great insight into what life in the CIA looks like. Something we don't get to see very often. Michele is definitely a woman who stands up the impossible.

I loved how Michele gives credit to God for leading her steps. Michele and her husband were able to help Iraqi Christians to get away from Isis. They probably wouldn't have been as successful ifs they didn't have their previous training.

We have been covering Paul in great detail in our Sunday school class. So, Paul and His Team: What the Early Church Can Teach Us About Leadership and Influence has been a great addition to that class. I enjoy learning principles from those in the Bible and how they chose to lead.

The Empowered {Book Review}

The Empowered immediately got my attention and made we want to read the book. There was a murder that took place and that was going to need to be resolved. There also was a daughter that the father didn't know existed til she was an adult and they were trying to resolve the relationship. In my mind, this plot was going to make a great book.

However, several chapters into the book, the talk of demons started. I do believe that demons do exist, so not a huge deal. But when the dark side took over the book and was responsible for all the murders, I because a little uneasy. Maybe it is just me, but I didn't want to fill my mind with all that information. Personal preference maybe. Just be aware that the supernatural is very big theme in this book if you consider reading.

Power Plates: 100 Nutritionally Balanced, One-Dish Vegan Meals was a cookbook that fit my qualifications for a good cookbook. Great pictures to go along with the recipes. I don't know why, but I feel like this helps me to know if I would want to cook the food.

That being said, I definitely can not see myself becoming vegan. Some of the ingredients in this book were so foreign to me. Would be a great resource for people who were vegans, though!

Out of the Ashes is the second book in a series, and a great sequel to the first book. I loved how the author used some really tough times in some of the character's lives in order to allow them to come to come to God.

I was challenged to make sure that my hardships need to help push me towards God and not push me farther from God.

High Treason fits my criteria for a great fiction read. I love a well crafted Christian suspense book. Not only that, but the CIA was thrown into the mix which adds another level of interest for me.

I also love that middle eastern culture was brought into this book. I am always interested to learn how other cultures think.

Adorned was based on Titus 2. This book has taken me a while to chug through because it was convicting and thought provoking. Nothing like putting down a book, picking it up after a while and being very convicted about something that God is teaching you. And to think that some think God isn't real

The Million-Dollar, One-Person Business: Make Great Money. Work the Way You Like. Have the Life You Want was a book that I got thinking it would be a fun one to skim. Yep, no skimming here, I was intrigued the whole way through! I loved getting to hear all the people who have started up business and succeeding at them.

Examples of people making seven figures selling gumballs or six figures selling decorative mailbox flags. I mean, when you think of getting rich, I am sure those two things are the first thing to pop into your head!

I loved all the practical advice in this book as well. I have gmail and wanted to be able to send some emails where I knew if the other person opened them. There was an add on mentioned in this book that I could do that. Score.

Under a Cloudless Sky took me a little bit to get into reading. Having younger kids doesn't help this fact! The farther I read, the more engrossed I got in the book. And by the end, I was so shocked by what took place, that I was so glad I kept reading.

Such heartbreak happened in this book. I am amazed at how one corrupt man in power can affect so many others. I did love at the end that there was some resolution to that corruptness. The irony of this turn of events is pretty neat.

The Knot Yours Truly was a fun book to flip through and would be great for anyone who is planning a wedding.

I loved all the pictures in the book! The book took a theme such as modern or rustic and they provided an example wedding with lots of pictures to go along with that theme.

Along with the pictures were different craft ideas to use for a wedding. What a fun book to look at while planning a wedding.

Gospel Centered Mom was a fun read through that allowed me to see that I did not have to be perfect but that I need to love God and follow Him. My kids won't be perfect either, but they just need to see my hearts desire to love God.

The only thing that I didn't like about this book is that for some reason it didn't grab my attention and keep me going. I plugged on cause I knew it was good for me, but it wasn't cause I was just in love.
