Cavo premiered their new single “Thick as Thieves” Monday on St. Louis’s alternative rock station, KPNT, and has followed it by offering a free download on their facebook page for THIS WEEK ONLY.

“Thick As Thieves” is the follow up to the band’s #1 rock single, “Champagne” from the album Bright Nights Dark Days (Reprise/Warner), and the first taste of the band’s sophomore release from Eleven Seven Music, out in stores in February of 2012.

Mick Jagger has teamed up with Eurythmics founder Dave Stewart, soul singer Joss Stone, Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack composer A.R.Rahman and reggae star Damian Marley to form a band cooperative project called SuperHeavy. This diverse and eclectic line up who share eleven Grammy Awards between them, have been recording together in various studios around the world, with the majority of the tracks on the project laid down over three weeks in Los Angeles earlier this year. The album will be unveiled in September and tracks include the first single 'Miracle Worker', plus 'One Day One Night', 'Energy', 'Unbelievable,' 'SuperHeavy,' I Can't Take It No More,' 'You're Never Gonna Change' and 'I Don't Mind.'

It's little wonder that Stewart refers to SuperHeavy as, "A mad alchemist type experiment". Fusing the talents of one of the greatest front-men of all time, a two time Academy award winning Indian composer, a soul vocal prodigy, a three time Grammy winning reggae star, and one of the most sought after producers in the world, you would expect the explosive results to defy categorisation.

SuperHeavy came together after Jagger and Stewart considered what a band comprising of musicians from different genres would sound like. Jagger explains, "Dave really wanted to make a record with a different group of musicians, in other words, with different backgrounds of music. Instead of everyone being a rock musician, or basically a blues musician, or some other genre, he wanted to get as many genres together that would fit. I said it sounds like a good idea, I never thought it would actually happen."

Despite their disparate backgrounds, they instantly connected and hit the ground running, writing twenty-two songs in the first six days. Stone was thrilled with the results, "That's what you need, all these opinionated people who have been brilliant in their own field, shove them together and see what comes out. It's really unexpected, it's mind blowing" she enthuses. Similarly enthused was Rahman, "The first day I was in a daze thinking, 'What am I doing? What's my role?' and then slowly we started writing with each other, and it was great. It took me way back to my high school days when I was playing in a rock band, but this one was a real one!" Jagger says of the writing process, "We ran the gamut of all our different styles mixed up, so we got Joss singing, Damian doing toasting, and me singing different styles."

However, despite the free flow of creative juices and the easy rapport they established, getting the band together in one place became very difficult, as Stewart explains, "It's the most complicated record ever made. Imagine, some of it's recorded in LA, some of it's recorded in the South of France, some of it's recorded off the coast of Cyprus, some of it's recorded in Turkey, some of it's recorded in Miami, some of it's recorded in the Caribbean, and some of it's recorded in Chennai, in India."

The project needed a name. Marley had been riffing the term "SuperHeavy", inspired by Muhammad Ali being the super heavy weight champion of the world and the phrase became the band's catchphrase, "It was Mick who said, 'Why don't we call it SuperHeavy?", recalls Stewart, "We all thought about it for ages and then it sort of stuck."

SuperHeavy is a new and spontaneous way of working for all the collaborators as Jagger explains, "I said to Dave, normally [with the Stones] we'd always have written songs before we go into the studio, but the jam sessions resulted in some great work believes Stone, "It felt better when we were just jamming, that way we made it up as we went along and it was easy."

Back to that alchemical experiment, Jagger, Stewart, Marley, Rahman and Stone appear to have created a new genre. It's a new kind of music, it's a new genre, one that cannot be placed" says Stone. Yet, Jagger is keen to point out the music is accessible, "It's very approachable. If you're a Rolling Stones fan there's definitely stuff you can relate to. Other stuff that you can't relate to so much, maybe if you listen you'll enjoy it."

As far as the future of SuperHeavy goes, "We haven't planned to do a tour or anything, but if people really like it maybe we will. We'd love to get out and play some of it live," says Jagger humbly. "As soon as we started playing together in the studio it gelled, and all these different styles didn't seem to be a problem to make them fit together... I hope people will like it...."

The Chills

Blue October’s latest release, Any Man In America, is Justin Furstenfeld’s emotionally raw telling of his experience as his marriage crumbled and of his continued fight for his child.

The pain, frustration, hope, disappointment and heartbreak expressed resonate throughout the album. Furstenfeld’s revealing honesty is well known by listeners who have been touched by his lyrics. While the emotion can be a bit uncomfortable, which is a testament to the powerful reality expressed in the music, makes the listener think and feel a range of emotions.

The musicianship of Furstenfeld, Ryan Delahoussaye (violin, mandolin, and piano), Matt Novesky (bass), and Jeremy Furstenfeld (drums), is as strong as ever on Every Man In America. Their talent and diversity are the perfect partners to Furstenfeld’s lyrics.

Any Man In America portrays an example of what truly any man in America dealing with custody issues may be going through. You don’t have to be a father to understand and relate to the album. Anyone who appreciates thoughtful lyrics and multi-layered music should check out this album.

Firebird St. Louis hosts The Get Up Kids Friday July 15

The Get Up Kids play Firebird this Friday July 15 with The Globes and The Caves in support.

Matt Pryor (vocals and guitar), Rob Pope (bass), Jim Suptic (guitar and vocals), James Dewees (keyboards), and Ryan Pope (drums) formed The Get Up Kids in 1995 years ago in Kansas City. The band disbanded in 2005 after releasing numerous recordings and extensive touring. Reuniting and returning to the studio in 2010, The Get Up Kids released “There Are Rules” this year.

How would you describe She Wants Revenge for a new listener?

Imagine a soup with a little Depeche Mode, a little Prince, a dash of Psychedelic Furs, a pinch of Giorgio Moroder, a tablespoon of David Bowie and a teaspoon of U2. A soup you could dance to, of course.

How and when did you come together as a band?

Justin and I grew up in the San Fernando Valley together and new each other through mutual friends. After keeping tabs on each other and each other's musical endeavors over the years, we finally had the opportunity and free time to work together in 2004, after one of our mutual friends had a BBQ, which we were both invited to, but told to leave and go make music together, which we did. We left the BBQ and went to Justin's house and started working on hip hop beats, since we both come from a hip hop background, it seemed like the perfect place to start. After months of working on hip hop beats, and honestly, being frustrated with the state of hip hop at the time and the limitations to express ourselves musically, a friend of mine named Kenna asked me to work on a track for his sophomore record, which I did. Justin came over that day and I played it for him. He immediately asked me to hold off on sending it to Kenna, as he had some vocal ideas and melodies he wanted to lay down. He took the track home and came back with "Black Liner Run" which would be the first She Wants Revenge song.

What is the meaning behind your name, She Wants Revenge?

When we had a few songs, and realized we needed a name, Justin first suggested "The Wonderland Murders" which I thought was a little too violent. Based on the lyrical content of the first batch f songs, I thought it would be a good idea to have something feminine in our name, so I suggested, "Girl Revenge". Justin flipped it and suggested, "She Wants Revenge". I wrote it down on a piece of paper, we looked at it for a minute and decided that was it. Not a very exciting story, I know.

What inspired the concept album, Valleyheart and the films?

After 4 songs were done, Justin wrote the lyrics for "Up in Flames" which included references to very specific images and feelings only someone from the San Fernando Valley could truly understand. We thought about it and decided it would be amazing to "write a love letter" to the place that we come from, the place that has everything to do with who we are as musicians, aspiring filmmakers and as people, hence, the loosely conceptual album. We then decided to make ten videos / short films to accompany each song and we split the songs up between the two of us. These short films are just another way we can express ourselves creatively, while, for the first time, as it pertains to this band, show our individual stylistic references and influences, while also achieving visual representations of all ten songs on the album.

What's coming up for She Wants Revenge in addition to this tour?

We are planning on finishing up this tour and immediately jumping back into working on the short films. We have some shows planned, including international dates, and we will line up a tour for the summer as well. We would also like to add how much we appreciate all the amazing love and support we've received since Valleyheart was released, we really do have the best friends and supporters in the world.

Sevendust, touring in support of their latest album, Cold Day Memory rocked 105.7 The Point’s Pointfest in St. Louis. Cold Day Memory was released April 2010 on Sevendust’s own label 7 Bros. Records, via Warner Music Group’s Independent Label Group. Their eighth studio album, Cold Day Memory marked the return of the band’s original lineup. Lajon Witherspoon (vocals), Morgan Rose (drums/vocals), Vince Hornsby (bass/vocals), Clint Lowery (guitar/vocals) and John Connolly (guitar/vocals) reunited for the first new album with the original lineup since Lowery’s return after departing in 2003.

How did you enjoy the Welcome to the Family Tour?

I’m a big fan of Avenged Sevenfold’s great live show and Three Days Grace. It’s really good playing to new fans that wouldn’t have ordinarily been hip to our band.

What’s next for Sevendust?

After this, we’re taking some time off in May, doing a couple of radio festivals, then we’re going to Europe in June, then back in July and then hopefully do Uproar tour which Avenged will be on as well.

It’s been a year since Cold Day Memory was released. Any reflections?

I’m proud of the record. We did a good job. It was my first record back in a while. It was a fun experience, got to work with some amazing people outside of the band. It’s been a year; we’ve had a really great response from the fans. We’re just ready to start thinking about another one.

What was the experience like for you, being back?

It was good. I had been gone a while, so I was really excited about getting back in there and the guys kind of let me have the opportunity to expose myself. It was really exciting again, it had the same spirit as the first record because I really appreciated what I have with the band and to be back in the studio with them was a unique opportunity to do things the way I always wanted to do them. Being away from the band, then being back, you get to reassess the dynamic of the band. It was very cool.

So you’re writing new music…

We’re just talking about writing music. I’ve written a few things; a couple of skeleton ideas. Nothing concrete, but it’s definitely been a process trying to talk about what we’re going to do. That’s how a lot of our albums start out, with us discussing what we’re going to do, and what avenues we want to go down. That’s always the fun part for me.

Tell me about your side project, Hello Demons Meet Skeletons.

I have an acoustic- based project that I do. I sing and play guitar. It’s called Hello Demons Meet Skeletons, is a name I came up with that talks about bringing to the surface all these personal issues you have in your life, the demons and skeletons you have, introducing those to each other, exposing it all. It’s a really fun project for me. It’s a low-maintenance band. I do it all myself. It’s very indie-indie.

That’s great that you have an additional outlet to express yourself personally and creatively.

Yeah, I don’t have to OK it with anybody. I don’t have to get into the democracy of a band. I do it on my own time and at my own pace and it’s really cool to have.

What do you like to do on your down time?

I go to the gym a lot. I live a pretty healthy life. I used to drink a lot and do all that and now I’m sober and I don’t do any of those things. I occupy my time doing productive stuff. I’ve got a newborn little boy at home, so now he’s taking up my time. That’s what I do with all my time, which is awesome.

BURBANK, CA - Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows, fronted by singer and songwriter Craig Owens, will release their debut album, entitled D.R.U.G.S., on Decaydance/Sire Records February 22, 2011. After Owens left his previous band, which he had fronted since 2001, he turned his energy toward creating a new project that would eclipse anything he'd done in the past by founding Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows. "Over the last 12 months I've done a lot of growing as a human being, as far as figuring out who I am," Owens says. "The idea for this band stemmed from the fact that I wanted to do this right; I wanted to make the biggest band I possibly could, and that's exactly what I've done here."

Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows pairs Owens with other musicians who have undergone similar experiences: From First To Last guitarist Matt Good, Matchbook Romance drummer Aaron Stern, Story Of The Year bassist Adam Russell and Underminded guitarist Nick Martin. Though they had never played together before, they have put their undeniable chemistry as a unit to use creating something vital and new.

Recorded in Los Angeles, CA with John Feldmann, (The Used, Panic at the Disco), Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows' debut is the most aggressive album Owens has made in his musical career, yet it still retains the keen sense of melody that has helped him become one of today's most celebrated frontmen. "It was so cathartic making this record because music is my form of therapy," he explains, "Almost all of our first headlining shows were sold out and we can't wait to start the AP Tour and play for all the fans we haven't met yet."

MUSIC VIDEO PREMIERE

A DAY TO REMEMBER have announced that MTV will be premiering the music video for their single "All I Want" on Thursday, January 6th. The video will be airing throughout the day on MTV, MTV2, and MTVU and will be available on all of MTV's web properties. This energetic video features a taste of an A DAY TO REMEMBER performance, with the help of a few familiar faces. Directed by Drew Russ, "All I Want" is the first single from the new album, What Separates Me From You, which debuted at #11 on the Top 200 Billboard Chart, selling over 58,000 copies in it's first week, topping the Rock Album charts in both the US and the UK.

Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Pantera's Cowboys From Hell album with the special Limited Edition Collectors vinyl release of COWBOYS FROM HELL: THE DEMOS. This special piece has a custom cover and demos of the Cowboys From Hell tracks, as well as "The Will To Survive." This release is limited to 3,000 copies and only available at participating Metal Club stores starting on Black Friday (November 26).

Pantera fans will also want to check out the COWBOYS FROM HELL ULTIMATE BOX SET on November 22.
