History and evolution of SpaceX| Well taking about the history and the evolution of SpaceX is very interesting, As SpaceX creates history just recently by sending 2 astronauts into the low earth orbit for the first time. Today in this topic we will discuss about the History and evolution of this Company and also about the founder Elon Musk who makes this private space exploration company. So let's Start :

The Origins Of SpaceX:

Elon Musk is passionate about the ability to send people further than we've ever gone before, more particularly making humans and interplanetary species. Now it wasn't until 2001 when Elon actually had enough capital or money to make this happen after he sold his previous company PayPal to eBay he had a couple hundred million dollars to try and create something that would get us excited about Mars. The reason was NASA at the time the budget was actually decreasing or plateauing and there wasn't a lot of interest in the general public about what was going on in space. So he had an idea called Mars Oasis, which would peak the general public's interest similar to how the Apollo mission did so in the 60s and 70s. Now the idea of Mars Oasis is to send a small green house to the surface of Mars, which would inevitably allow them to take a time-lapse of plants growing surrounded by a Martian environment. Not necessarily in the atmosphere of the temperatures but in a restricted field that could show us yes it is capable for life to grow on Mars. Now as they're going through some of the initial stages of developing the entire project they were able to approach some of the challenges and overcome them, but one of the biggest ones that they ran into was actually getting it to Mars. Now the cheapest option for a US-based rocket at the time was 65 million dollars which is way too expensive for musk. Therefore he explored the option of purchasing previously made ICBMs from the Russians. He actually made three journeys to Russia to try and negotiate a low enough price but it never reached his threshold. Now on the way back from one of these meetings with the Russians it turned out he did some basic calculations to see how much from just a material standpoint does it cost to make one of these rockets and it ended up being only 3% of the values that he was getting from either the Russians or the US. Now this idea of creating cost efficient Rockets mostly in-house eventually led to the creation of SpaceX in the year 2002. So at the time SpaceX a musk had the idea of what they wanted to achieve but they actually had to be able to accomplish it they had to make their first rocket or minimum viable product or MVP this being the smallest factor that they could be able to create to show that they're actually efficient in doing so, which would ultimately become something called the Falcon one.Now the Falcon one would ideally be able to take 450 kilograms to low-earth orbit and was named Falcon one after the Millennium Falcon in star wars. Now at the time when the company was formed Elon Musk said that he would try and get the first Falcon one launch to occur in November of 2003 which was only 15 months after the formation of the company which is pretty quick to develop your very first rocket.

Now the headquarters of SpaceX was based in Los Angeles. However the entire team knew that if they're going to be developing Rockets they would also have to be developing the engines that power those Rockets, but you can't do rocket testing in the middle of a highly populated area therefore they had to look out into different locations to see where they could have a test facility. But they purchased some land in McGregor Texas which has been used all the way back to World War two for explosion testings different companies in the aerospace industry actually tested their engines and the most recent one being Beale aerospace was failing at the time and they basically replaced what they had done there with their current methods of testing. Now this facility at its peak time had five to six thousand employees at its location, however when SpaceX first started what they were working on it would only have three employees three people trying to develop a new rocket engine. Now the focus at McGregor was to develop the Merlin and Kestrel engines. The Merlin engine would be used on the first stage or what would lift it off of the launch pad going up into space and the Kestrel engine would take it from its sub orbital trajectory into its final orbit. But soon after SpaceX purchased the land at McGregor they ended up getting their very first customer being the naval research lab and they wanted to send up a small satellite called tax at one. Now this satellite would conduct a few experiments onboard to see whether or not military commanders could get daily updates of images from space to see how exactly the battlefield is changing over time. So the Naval Research Lab wanted to launch in January 2004. SpaceX eventually had to move and end up going to the Ronald Reagan ballistic test site which was on Mallik island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Now this island had been used in the past for testing different missiles and rocket ideas however it wasn't last used since 1996 and the size of the island is only around six football fields therefore doesn't make up that much space. And in the middle of Pacific it's near the equator which is great for launching however the climate is very hot and humid which could be pretty harmful to the rocket you're trying to launch. But the timeline that Elon Musk had came up with was actually not realistic he wanted it all to be done by the end of 2003, however it wasn't able to get done by the launch time in 2004 or even throughout all of 2004. It actually ended up that the tax at 2 or the mission that was supposed to go after tax at 1 and ended up being launched on a completely different rocket with a completely different company before the Falcon 1 even got its first test flight. Therefore ended up being somewhat of a failure for their first customer but SpaceX did get another customer being the United States Air Force Academy. But then when they put it back up a month later they ended up doing the exact same thing experiencing a weather delay and when they tried to take the liquid fuel out of the rocket during the weather delay they forgot to open up a valve or a valve didn't open and therefore caused a vacuum to form in the actual chamber that the fuel was being held within, therefore it actually caused a lot of structural damage and they had to recreate the first stage of the Falcon 1 again pushing the first launch back. So now we're looking at March 24th of 2006, So the Falcon 1 took off from the island and had a notable rolling motion early within its flight. Soon after a rocking motion was noticed until around 30 seconds into the flight when the craft pitched over. Now something with rockets is pitching isn't that great of a thing especially when you're close to the surface because that means instead of going up you're now going horizontal to the land, which could eventually be more like a missile. Now the Falcon one ended up coming back down crashing into the ocean only about a hundred meters away from. The launch pad that it just left from and the Falcons at two actually landed rather close to the cargo container that it was shipped there which is kind of ironic however it was damaged beyond repair and was nevela a failure of a mission. Now one of the initial observations for why this happened was that, a bolt had come loose in the engine and then fuel was released into the first stage this would allow fire to expand throughout the stage and inevitably cause it to fail. However further investigations showed that the bolt actually was completely tight however a corrosion due to the humidity in the surrounding area and the weather caused the Falcon one to fail. So as we could see in March of 2006 just around four years after the formation of the company we go from this great idea of trying to inspire people to go to Mars to a falcon one and a rather small rocket falling and failing into the ocean.

1st successful satellite Launch And Falcon 9 series:

A few weeks after failed attempt there would be a saving grace something that not only helped the company grow but also the entire commercial spaceflight industry and this was that NASA would help fund the development of reliable and cost-effective methods to get the low-earth orbit. More specifically funding private spaceflight companies to create launch vehicles like SpaceX was doing. Now why would NASA want to do this? let's put our mindset in 2006 they still had the space shuttle operating and it wasn't scheduled to retire until 2010, but they were trying to figure out a way to use cost effective or lower-cost methods of getting to low-earth orbit and one way is they could create their own launch vehicle but we've seen in the past that that is incredibly expensive another way is using government-funded companies big aerospace companies to get their products to the International Space Station. Again a pretty expensive endeavor. So they wanted to try and kick start the commercial spaceflight industry they wanted to put some money in to see whether or not launch vehicles could actually be competitive and make it much cheaper to get to orbit. So when they made this announcement both SpaceX and a company called Rocketplane Kistler were given part of this five hundred million dollars to try and develop the launch vehicle. More specifically SpaceX received 278 million dollars to focus on the development of the earth Falcon 9 and Dragon capsule. Now the launch would occur in March 20th of 2007 so about a year later from the previous one. In this Launch some of the first notable differences is the control they have over the vehicle. There are very little oscillations early on in the flight and the controller looks pretty great up until stage separation the mission is looking perfect. Now once the stage separates nozzle of the second stage hit the side of the vehicle also called the inner stage. The minor impact ended up redirecting the control system on the gimbal causing a small helium leak. And this helium is what is used to control the gimbal engine therefore once it ran out the engine would start oscillating. Now in the final report it said that major oscillations began around four and a half minutes into the flight but the only available footage only goes to that point. So at the end nozzle beginning to oscillate just slightly now they eventually had to shut down the engine due to this oscillations which means the Falcon 1 did not reach orbit. However musk and SpaceX saw this launch as somewhat of a success this is because they received a lot of information regarding the flight of Falcon 1 how to control it as well as what ways they can improve upon it for the next launch. Therefore they knew that they had to get the stage separation to work perfectly in order to possibly achieve orbit on the very next launch. Now once the word got out that SpaceX was really close to achieving orbit they got a few more customers and specifically they got for the first one being NASA. They would have two satellites one being nano- satellite which weighed around four kilograms and had an area of about 10 square meters when it would be fully extended in space. The other one being preset being a small satellite that was trying to detect how yeast cells can grow within Earth's orbit. This was also really small about the size of the loaf of bread. Now that's not the only customer the Department of Defense also wanted to send up a Trailblazer satellite which would be focusing on improving aspects of the missile defense agency. We're not a hundred percent sure what it was supposed to do but it was supposed to take some measurements for the DoD. And the last customer was a company by the name of Celeste as' and this company actually can send your ashes to space after you pass away and on this mission they were going to send up the ashes of Gordon Cooper who was the youngest Gemini ash not as well as the Star Trek actor James Doohan who played the chief engineer on the USS Enterprise also known as Montgomery.

Now this was their biggest launch at the time not only because it had four satellites on board but also because they updated the Merlin engine from a Merlin a to Merlin 1c. Now the reason for this was that they are also doing development on the Falcon 9 at the same time and the Merlin a wasn't strong enough to get AB launch vehicle of the size of a Falcon 9 up to space. Therefore they wanted to update it to a falcon 1 C and since SpaceX and Elon were fairly confident in the first stage from the last launch they thought that by replacing it it wouldn't make that much of a difference in the overall mission. So on August 3rd of 2008 a little over two and a half years after their first launch the Falcon 1 was again on the launch pad ready to go having an updated control system new engines and four satellites on board SpaceX was really hoping for this to be their first successful mission. So again what happened the launch did very well, it as we forward to the separation stage the engine cuts off the separation occurs but then the first stage has a second push. When the first stage cuts off there is a time delay due to residual thrust created by the engine. However SpaceX underestimated the strength of the new engine and thus it collided against the second stage. The collision isn’t what caused the failure but the second stage Kestrel engine actually ignited with the first stage right there. Which led to the system going out of control which we can see for a brief second. Now this failure was a pretty big deal for SpaceX, even though the engine worked perfectly the four satellites onboard were destroyed and they were running out of money pretty fast. But Elon Musk was still firmly passionate about what he believed in. Just a few days after the failure he went out to the news and said “there should be absolutely zero question that SpaceX will prevail in reaching orbit and demonstrating reliable space transport for my part I will never give up and I mean never”. At the time Elon Musk showed nothing but confidence however in recent years he's actually said that was one of the hardest years of his life both SpaceX and Tesla were facing. And musk personally took the blame for this third launch failure and he also said that they would only have one more attempt enough money to try it one more time or else SpaceX would go bankrupt. Now to put this into perspective the other company that got funding by NASA called Rocketplane Kistler they actually went bankrupt a few months before this launch because of financial reasons. They didn't have enough money to make it happen. So almost everything was against SpaceX at this time they really only had one more attempt at making it work. So you might think that the development of the Falcon one everything would be retested and try and figure out everything they can fix before this launch but in reality from the previous launch they only had one that needed to change which was the time delay between the separation and when the second stage would ignite. Therefore the next launch was only six weeks later determining whether or not the company SpaceX would actually prevail or if they would fail. The Launch was smooth with stable control systems during the initial ascent as we approach separation the main engine cuts off the new time delay weights and separation is about to happen. Now this point is the defining moment for the entire company. Separation occurs and the nozzle just barely makes it out without hitting the interstage. Now the mission continued on to achieve orbit now as you can imagine this was a pretty exciting moment for not just SpaceX but the entire industry as a whole SpaceX this was their first time achieving orbit successfully however it was also the first time a liquid powered rocket was successfully created to achieve orbit that was privately funded. now after this mission was a success the Falcon 1 would go on to fly one more mission before they put it to the side and focused directly on the development of the Falcon 9 and the Dragon capsule. From here onwards Falcon Series begin and take the SapceX to new heights. After this they did many missions successfully and the rest is history.

In the recent times SpaceX created the history once again by becoming the first privately funded company to send the human flight to Low Earth orbit into the International Space Station. This was a huge success in their journey and in the upcoming time there are many projects related to sending the man to the space by SpaceX.

History of IPL:

Indian Premier League. It has developed a unique brand of cricket that combines entertainment with fast-paced action and attracts players from around the world. The Indian Premier League or the IPL, has only been around for 12 years. But it's fast becoming one of the most popular and valuable cricket leagues on the planet. India has given a model for other countries to follow. When the IPL is successful, all these other places will set up their leagues. I'm not sure if you remember this, but about 1 year before IPL began, ICL was established. Not IPL, the ICL. The Indian Cricket League. It was special because it was started by a private company. By the Zee Entertainment Enterprises. The company runs TV channels like Zee TV, Zee News, etc. This company set up this league. The concept of ICL was similar to the one of IPL. There were supposed to be teams from different cities, players would be auctioned, the teams would buy the players, and then they would play against each other. But neither did our cricketing board BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) recognize the ICL, nor did the international cricketing board ICC. Both organizations were displeased to see the larger number of cricketers playing in the ICL. To prevent the players from playing in the ICL, the BCCI increased their salaries for playing in their domestic tournaments. And said that the players who would play in the ICL would face a lifetime ban from the BCCI tournaments. BCCI did not want to have a cricket league that it could not control. Later in September 2007, BCCI announced a similar league. The Indian Premier League or the IPL. The Vice-President of BCCI was Lalit Modi then. The tournament was being organized under his supervision. He said that they did not draw inspiration from the ICL. And that they were developing this idea for a long time. Many people consider BCCI as a government agency, but the government has no direct control over the BCCI. But since the International Cricket Council (ICC) recognizes BCCI as the sole representative for the Indian team, and for cricket in India, it gives BCCI the authority to head cricket in India. If someday the ICC stops recognizing BCCI, the BCCI would not be considered the cricket authority in India any longer. And because BCCI is not directly controlled by the Indian government. There have been several controversies in the past between the BCCI and the Indian government.

Business Model Of IPL:

But anyway, to return to our topic, the responsibility of conducting and organizing IPL lies with the BCCI. In addition to BCCI, there are three other main components in the Business Model of IPL. First: The Broadcaster. The TV Channel on which you watch IPL. Second: the teams of IPL. Owned by private companies and private individuals. And the third: Sponsors. The private companies sponsoring IPL and the IPL teams. And run ads on TV channels. BCCI is the fourth component in this model and is the governing body of IPL. They have 2 main sources of revenue. First is the sponsorship amount received by the BCCI. There are two types of sponsors. One is the title sponsor. You'd recall it used to be called DLF IPL at one point. Then it was known as Pepsi IPL. Vivo IPL. And now we know it as Tata IPL. The brand name that's used here with the name IPL, is the title sponsor. Because whenever you'd talk about IPL, you will recall the name of the company as well. So, these brands pay a lot of money to become the title sponsor. Initially, in the first five seasons of IPL, DLF was the title sponsor with sponsorship fees of ₹400 million each year. It was paid to the BCCI. Then Pepsi paid ₹790 million per year. Vivo had spent a lot of money on this. ₹1 billion in 2016-17 and almost ₹4.4 billion in 2018-19. The title sponsor in 2020 was Dream11, but Vivo was back in 2021. In 2020, Vivo withdrew as the title sponsor because of the tensions between India and China and it is a Chinese company. That's why Dream11 was the sponsor in 2020. But then Vivo was back with ₹4.40 billion. You can see how the Chinese company was willing to pay a large amount to be the sponsor. For the title sponsor of this year, Tata, it is estimated that they'll be spending ₹3.30 billion. Not as high as Vivo. With this, you can understand why Chinese sponsors are coveted so much whenever IPL is organized. Of the money received by BCCI from the title sponsorship, 50% of it is retained by them. And the remaining 50% is given to the teams. Since Tata has signed a contract for two years, Tata will remain the sponsor next year as well. After that, Vivo may return or it may be any company.

In addition to them, as the official sponsors of IPL. Brands that sponsor various aspects of IPL. For example, CEAT tires have sponsored the strategy break. So BCCI sells the Broadcasting Rights in exchange for money to the TV channels. For the first 10 years of IPL, Sony owned the media rights. From 2008 to 2017. They had spent ₹82 billion on it in total. So almost ₹8.2 billion for each season. But then in 2018, Star Sports bought its rights at ₹164 billion for 5 years. The approximate cost of it per year would be around ₹33 billion. Even here, half the amount received is retained by BCCI, and the remaining is given to the franchises of the participating teams. If you look at it from the perspective of the broadcaster, Star Sports is willing to spend ₹160 billion. it would be benefiting out of it too because obviously, they wouldn't spend this large amount for no reason. Friends, the thing is that not only do they earn back this amount they end up making profits from this deal. Because if you want to run an ad for 10 seconds on Star Sports during IPL 2022 you will have to spend almost ₹1.5 million for the 10-second-long ad. ₹1.45 million to be exact. It is the price charged by Star Sports if you want to run the ad during the match. The ads that are run between overs. Star Sports spends a considerable amount and most likely, it earns a higher amount by running the ads of the other sponsors on their TV channels.

Now, let's look at it from the perspective of an IPL team. An IPL team is owned by private companies or by private individuals such as celebrities and rich businesspersons. They buy the IPL teams and after that, they have to spend on a lot of things. When the players are bought the IPL teams have to pay the salaries of the players for their transportation, and training, all these expenses are borne by the IPL team. It is estimated that on average, an IPL team spends around ₹2 billion. It is a significant amount and the owners of the IPL teams wouldn't want to bear these expenses obviously, so where do they get this money from? I've already told you about one of the sources. BCCI shares 50% of its revenue with the IPL teams. But it is not enough. Even for the teams, the main source of revenue is from the sponsors. There are team sponsors.

The brand sponsorships can be seen on the jerseys of the team members. On average, there are 10 brand logos on a regular IPL outfit. 6 on the jerseys, 2 on the pants, and 2 on their caps. The brands pay the IPL teams to put their logos on the outfit. Apart from this, when you go to watch the matches in the stadium, the revenue from the ticket you buy, 80% of it goes to the IPL teams. Specifically speaking, the stadium that's hosting the match gives 80% of the revenue to the home team. Such as if there's a match in the Wankhede Stadium, 80% of the revenue from the sale of tickets would go to the Mumbai Indian teams. The remaining 20% goes to the Home State Cricket Association. Each team plays at least seven home matches. So the teams have an opportunity to earn from this source as well. Although the revenue from the sale of tickets doesn't make much money. It is estimated that the stadium ticket sales from one match make about ₹40 million in a match. And since the price of food and beverages is hiked up there, it is another source of revenue. But ₹40 million on ₹50 million isn't very significant when you compare it to the expenses of each team, around ₹2 billion. Additionally, merchandising is also a source of revenue for the IPL teams. When you buy jerseys of your favorite teams. IPL merchandise can be of several types apart from jerseys. Such as keyrings, mobile covers, chargers, caps, joggers, coasters, wristbands, and many other things. That you can purchase at stores. The revenue from selling these merchandise goes directly to the IPL teams. And finally, in the end, there's the prize money. ₹200 million goes to the winner of the IPL season. And the runner-up team, the one losing the final match, gets about ₹130 million. The loser of the Qualifier 2 match would get ₹70 million, and the team losing the Eliminator match, get ₹65 million. Half of the prize money goes to the owners of the team. And the remaining goes to the players. It's divided equally among them. If they win the IPL, it will be a sort of publicity for their team. More people would know and support their team. And more people would watch the team's matches. And when they'd get positive feedback from the people, with more viewership, sponsors would also flock to the IPL team. And the brands will be willing to pay more to sponsor their logo on the jersey of that IPL team. The brand value of the IPL team is much more important from the perspective of the Business Model rather than the prize money. Additionally, the brand value of the IPL team increases when they get a famous player on their team. Like MS Dhoni playing for Chennai Super Kings, and Virat Kohli for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Teams try to nab the good players. Oftentimes, famous Bollywood stars and famous businesspersons increase the brand value of the team. Take the case of Shahrukh Khan and the Kolkata Knight Riders. Teams also give out the stakes in the team. So that they can be bought by other private companies. For example, LIC holds a 6.04% stake in Chennai Super Kings. Rajasthan Royals had sold a 15% stake to Redbird Capital Partners. So, this is how the Business Model of IPL works. The biggest and the most powerful space telescope in the world was launched by NASA recently on 25, December 2021. It's named the James Webb Space Telescope. By this, you can time travel of sorts. Well, it is beyond the possibilities to expect to travel once more into the past, however with this, you can get a brief look at history. The most exceptional thing about this telescope is that it has been planned predominantly to recognize infrared light. The other benefit of infrared is that when a telescope looks at stars at such a distance, stars that are billions of kilometers far from us, when the light from those stars reaches the telescope, the light has traveled such a distance, that by the time it reaches here, and as we know the universe is expanding at a slow pace, the wavelength of the light gets stretched. The wavelength gets elongated. This phenomenon is called the “Red Shift”. That the wavelength of the light has stretched a bit and has shifted towards the colour red. With telescopes, the bigger the mirror they are equipped with, they'd have the ability to capture more light. And the resolution of the image that we get is also higher. That's why, with the formation of more and more advanced telescopes, they are being equipped with larger mirrors. The mirror of the Hubble Space Telescope was of this size i.e. 2.4-meter diameter. And you have the mirror of the James Webb Space Telescope beside it of size 6.5 meters in diameter. This entire mirror is coated with 24karat gold. Because gold is the best reflector of red light. Because of gold, the reflectiveness ability of this mirror is at 98%.

There's a problem here. I said that all that radiates heat transmits infrared waves. When the telescope will begin working, the telescope will transmit some heat too. Some infrared waves will be emitted by the telescope itself. This will interfere with the waves coming from the galaxies and we wouldn't be able to get good high-definition images. To get rid of this, this James Webb Telescope will work only at the cold temperatures of -223°C. The temperature should be so low for it to work. On Earth, the temperature hasn't fallen beneath -89°C. So how could this telescope be kept so cold? It can be done in the space. It is possible because it is very cold in space unless there's sunlight or any other heat form. If sunlight falls on you in space, the temperature would rise very fast. As is the case on the moon. Because there is no atmosphere on the moon, The temperature may fall up to -170°C there. But as soon as there's sun, the temperature rises to 120°C hot. It is very problematic for this telescope. No sooner would sunlight fall on this telescope it would be a great problem as everything would heat up rapidly. So they needed to stop the Sun. To get rid of this problem, a Sun Shield has been installed on James Webb Telescope. This shield is of a kite shape and is as big as a tennis court.

So the telescope could remain secured from the Sun. For this, a special kind of material has been used, Kapton. Many materials were tested to check which material could be used to block the Sun most effectively and to keep the telescope cool. It was later discovered that this Kapton material was artificially created. This Sun Shield comes with 5 layers of this material, and each layer is thinner than a strand of human hair. There's a vacuum gap between each layer. So that its effectiveness could be increased. Aside from this, each layer has an aluminum coating on it. And the two layers nearest to the Sun have a covering of doped silicon. This space telescope isn't being sent closed to the Earth, as the Hubble Space Telescope was. Hubble is near the Earth and orbits around it. But this will be stationed 1.5 million kilometers away from the Earth. And that is the point known as the L2 point. L stands for Lagrange Point. This point will be on the other side of the Sun because an obvious reason, it is important to block the heat and light of the Sun as much as possible for the better functioning of the telescope. And the L2 Point is special because it keeps revolving with the Earth itself. So the Sun will be always hidden throughout the revolution. Look at how its orbit will be.

The Earth's shade will keep the sun hidden. It's similar to when you take a look at something in the direction of the Sun, you can't see clearly because of the sunlight. It's the same as when you cover the Sun with your hands. And you get to see clearer. It's the same with the telescope. NASA has said that the entire procedure of making and launching it is so complicated that they have identified more than 300 potential problems that may arise in the telescope. More than 300 single points of failures, if any of them become reality, then the entire project would be as good as over. 1000 Crores USD has been spent on this project only. This amount is so huge that NASA had to defund several other research projects and direct the money to this project to make this one possible. Along with NASA, the European Space Agency(ESA) and the Canadian Space Agency(CSA) are also taking part in this. The scientists have pinned their hopes that using this, they would be able to study how stars and galaxies form after the Big Bang. As I have told you, with this telescope, you can look 13 billion years into the past with light helping it. The Hubble Space Telescope could see only 1 billion years after the Big Bang took place. So about 12.8 billion years ago. But the James Webb Telescope can look up to 0.3 billion years after the Big Bang happened. When the stars actually began to form first. How We can look into the past?

The answer to it is very simple. The light takes some time to travel some distance. And by the time the light reaches from one spot to the next, a lot of time would have passed. Particularly when it involves distances this huge. The light from the Sun arrives at the Earth by traveling for approximately 8 minutes. This means that if the Sun vanished suddenly, for example, it will take 8 minutes for people to find out this on Earth, to see that the Sun has disappeared. As it were, you can say that we are looking 8 minutes into the past when we see the Sun. Similarly, apply this logic on a bigger scale. The stars and galaxies that are millions of light-years far from us, when we look at them with the telescope or we gaze at the stars from the Earth, we are actually seeing them as they were millions of light-years ago. The universe is so large that there are stars that are 13 billion lightyears away from us, by the time their light arrives on Earth, 13 billion years would have gone, and what we get to see today, are the events of 13 billion years ago. This way we can get glimpses of history.

With this logic, hypothetically, it is also possible that if we go 100 million lightyears far from the Earth, we teleport to a planet that is 100 million lightyears far from the Earth. And on that planet, we build a high-powered telescope and look at the Earth back, we'll get to see the Earth as it was 100 million years ago. We'll get to see dinosaurs! But the practical problem with doing this is that by the time we go to the other planet and look back on Earth, this will take a much longer time to reach the other planet, than the years that we can look back to. Dev Kamrunag| Dev Kamrunag is a holy place to visit for Hindu Pilgrims. Reaching Kamrunag is itself a beautiful trek. Kamrunag is the best trek for beginners as well. Kamrunag is famous for its lake and the temple next to the lake. Here on this topic, I am going to share my experience of this trek that we experienced and also be sharing the pictures that we clicked. So, let’s start:

Kamrunag Lake

Planning the trip/trek:

I and my friends planned it according to the best season and the festival which is held at Kamrunag every year just before the rainy season. Choosing the right season is very important when you think of going to such a place so we did it as this affects a lot of things. Its height is 3334 Mtr. From the sea level so plan accordingly. The weather of Kamrunag during our visit is also very beautiful about 22-23 degrees during the day and 15-16 during the night. We planned the trip by checking all these things way earlier. Choosing the right time to trek is also very important if you are a snow lover you can go in winter as well which can make it even more challenging. We planned our trip for June 13 & 14, 2022 during the festival at the temple/lake. And it’s about 6-8 Kilometres inclined at up to 80 degrees at some points. So better to know all these things before the trek.

Me Backpacking Stuff

Reaching Dev Kamrunag:

It is in the Mandi District of Himachal Pradesh, India. You can reach the starting point of the trek by road only. If you want to come by air the nearest airport is Bhuntar Airport which is about 104 Kilometres. So according to me, it’s better to come by road and explore the Himalayas in a better way. There are many local ways to trek this trip. But we choose to trek from Rohanda, which is very popular for this trek and the challenging one. Since I am from Bilaspur Himachal Pradesh so it took a 2-2.5 hours road trip to Rohanda.

Our Trek/Trip to Dev Kamrunag:

So, as I mentioned earlier, we planned a trip for 13-14 June. So, we were 6 in number and started our journey at around 10 pm in the evening from Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh to protect ourselves from the summer heat during the day. We go by a private car enjoying the road trip listening to a mix of kinds of music. We reached the Rohanda at around 1:30 am in the morning after having various refreshment stops including places like Sunder Nagar. There were many tourists arriving during this time so we saw many were reaching as well.

During the Trek Dancing Stop

Then before we start to climb, we took a half-hour’s rest and started the trek climb at 2:00 AM in the morning. During the 1^st 10-15 minutes we thought that it was very easy for us but then the 70-80 degrees climb started to bother us but we were enjoying the Tiredness, as well as many tourists, who were also trekking with us. But it was very thrillful to climb some very steep sharp edges of the climb. We found some pilgrims who were playing the songs and dancing we also joined them and started dancing with them on the way to the devotional songs. There were many refreshments stalls on the way during this festival season called Langars, they were also helping a lot. The rations to these stalls are provided by the Horses which carry the loads from Rohanda and supply to these stalls on such climbs. We also took a rest during the climb at these stalls. And also, we saw many people who were camping on the grass fields of this trek and enjoying themselves. Cold Breeze also blows making our sweaty bodies cold and giving relief to us. We didn’t click many pictures as it was the night time so we decided to take pictures in the morning during our return to see the views of the Himalayas. We reached the top at the Dev Kamrunag, after climbing this 6-8 Kilometres trek at 4:45 AM in the morning. And there was a lot of rush at the top as there are many pilgrims and the festival was at its peak. And there was hardly any network on our cell phones at the top. The temperature was also freezing. We bowed at the temple took the blessings and did the Parikarma(One Round circle of the lake) of the lake as this was considered holy. Many people were donating money to the lake in De Kamrunag’s name to fulfil their wishes or after the completion of their wishes. It is considered that there is worth millions of gold, money and other precious things in the lake that were donated by the devotees. There were also many stalls at the top and the view was just Aww.

Morning Down Trek

After spending some time at the top, we started our down trek at around 6:15 AM before the sun came. Then during our return, we also stopped at one of the stalls (Langar) to serve there in the name of God and give many people refreshments who were climbing. During our down trek, we saw the tremendous beauty of the Himalayas. The Views from such height were mesmerizing all of us and everyone was clicking the pictures. We reached back at Rohanda at around 9:45 AM on the 14 of June. And returned to home safely. In the end this was a very good refreshing trip of Dev Kamrunag for all of us.

There is a small, but interesting story in this regard, After the Second World War, America became the most powerful country in the world and the rest of the countries had to align their currency with the US dollar. Writing down something on paper is a way to store information. Writing something on an excel file on the computer is a way to store information. On an excel file, your information is structured in the form of a table. You know the tables. Similarly, in a Blockchain, the information is structured in the form of blocks. Each block is made up of three main things. First, any data or information you store in the block. Second, each block has its fingerprint known as Hash. This is the way to uniquely identify a block among other blocks. Every block has its fingerprint. And third, each of these blocks stores the fingerprint of the block before it. This is a Blockchain. This block will have its fingerprint and the block behind it. And thirdly, any information you put into it will be stored here. This is how all the blocks are linked with each other. And the most unique thing about this is that if you want to change the data in any block, if you try to tamper with the data, then the fingerprint, or the hash, of the block will change. And if the hash of one block changes, the hash of the next block will also change. And the next and eventually the entire blockchain will be destroyed. For this reason, it is next to impossible to alter or tamper with the data in a blockchain. Because once a block is defined and becomes a part of the blockchain It cannot be altered after that. The second major reason for Blockchains being secure is Decentralisation. You will not find a blockchain stored in only one computer. Blockchains are stored in a network of computers. All the computers around the world belonging to the participants of the blockchain will have one copy of this blockchain. Instead of one central authority, it is managed and run by a network of computers collectively. The people who are connected to the blockchain through their computers and those who allow the blockchain to run on their computers are known as Nodes. Some Nodes among them are Minors. Whenever new data is added to the blockchain, it's the work of the Miners to verify it. Whether the person adding the data has done so properly or not. Or whether it is an attempt at tampering. All the Miners verify and record this. Any computer connected to this network can see the data added to the blockchain. There is no need for any third party. No need for any Central Authority. You too can connect your computer to the network and verify this.

Truly, to understand this, one needs to know advanced mathematics and computer science- which I don't have but if you want to start investment or trading, then basic knowledge is sufficient. Let us take the example of Bitcoins There is one public account in digital form, of all the bitcoin transactions- this is called a 'ledger' A copy of this ledger exists on all the systems that are a part of the Bitcoin network Those that run this system are called 'Miners'. This process is called “Mining”. The job of the miners is to verify transactions Say, A has to transfer 2 Bitcoins to B's account, and the Miners will have to confirm whether A does have 2 Bitcoins in his account or not. To complete the transaction, miners will have to solve a complicated math equation You might have studied variables back in your school, every Bitcoin transaction has a unique variable, and the job of the miners is to calculate it. It's not that they sit with a pen or paper to solve these equations, all these calculations are carried out on the computers automatically because they are extremely complicated and their combinations run in millions which is why these miners require computers with very complex and high processing power. Once this equation is solved, the other computers within the network confirm it and this transaction is added to the chain. A block of transactions gets created. Absorbents, like clay and straw, soak up some of a spill but they also soak up a lot of water. So they’re not ideal. Fortunately, science is on the case! Researchers from a Swiss materials research institute called Empa have developed a kind of sponge made of chemically modified wood, called Nanofibrillated Cellulose. The material soaks up oil but leaves water behind, and in lab tests, they’re said to have absorbed up to 50 times their own weight of oil. Another really cool engineered sponge was recently created by Ohio State University scientists. The nature-inspired technology is described in a paper published in the journal Scientific Reports. Inspired by lotus leaves, the stainless steel mesh is coated with silica to create a bumpy exterior. On top of that bumpy layer is another layer of surfactant. And finally, it’s sealed with a polymer coating that repels water. One of the researchers says that a combination of these layers makes for nano-particles that bind to oil. They’re hoping the mesh could one day be used like a giant sponge soaking up a nasty oil spill. Both of these technologies are still in the early development phase though, so it may be a while before they’re put to use in real disasters. As for the oil that washes up on shore, Sometimes nature can take over, sometimes with a little help. Biological agents like enzymes or microorganisms can be added to help speed up the biodegradation process. According to the EPA, this can either involve “bioaugmentation, where bacteria is added to the spill site to help biodegrade the oil, or biostimulation, where nutrients are added to already present oil degraders to stimulate growth. To generate electricity with a hydro dam, you need two things: an abundance of Water and an elevation difference between the outlet and inlet sides of the dam. This height difference is referred to as the "head". The headwater is found upstream of the dam and the tailwater downstream. The dam isolates standing water and tailwater.

Let us now discuss how to generate electricity with a hydroelectric dam. Water enters the supply pipe through one of the main entrances. Then the water moves down through the tube until it reaches the hydroelectric turbines in the energy center. When the water passes over its turbine, the turbine spins, and we get mechanical energy. Mechanical energy is passed from the turbine to electric generators, which are connected to the common columns. We have now converted the potential energy of water into electrical energy, which can be distributed through a transformer and a national high-voltage network. To finish the process, the water flows from the generation plant into the intake tubes Until reaching the bottom water. The whole process is continuous, leading to a stable and reliable form of power generation.

An American skydiver Luke Aikins was the first man to jump from a height 7,620 meters out of a plane without a parachute. Titanic :

The luxury British passenger liner RMS Titanic began construction on March 31st, 1909, in the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, Ireland, and was completed three years later in 1912. This Ship was built by Harland and Wolff. The company wanted it to be the largest ship with state-of-the-art technology and every luxury imaginable. The Titanic was the brainchild of the White Star Line, a shipbuilding company in direct competition with the other companies of the time. One of these, Cunard, had built the Lusitania and Mauretania in 1907, nautical masterpieces that crossed the Atlantic at record-breaking speeds and thereby earned their builders widespread acclaim and recognition. Not to be upstaged, White Star set about to make not one, but three, passenger ships surpass all others in both size and luxury: The Titanic, The Olympic, and The Britannic. To their credit, builders Harland and Wolff succeeded in creating what were the world’s largest man-made objects that moved. However, this feat came at a cost. The number of materials needed for these vessels was immense. As steel and rivet supplies dwindled, they were forced to use inferior versions. Held together with lower-grade plates and rivets. As one of three Olympic-class ocean liners, it was designed to be the largest luxury passenger ship in the world and would cost 7.5 million dollars to build. It had a length of 882 feet, 9 inches (or 269.1 meters), a height of 175 feet (53.3 meters), and a width of 92 feet, 6 inches (or 28 meters), and it weighed 46,328 tons. Below the water line was the orlop decks for cargo and the tank top where the engines, boilers, turbines, and electrical generators were. At 11:50 p.m. Captain smith and the ship architect Thomas Andrews went to inspect the damage they knew the ship would start sinking and by this time six of the watertight compartments at the ship's hull were already breached and began flooding. At 12 a.m. the captains sent out a distress call over the radio in the hopes that there were other ships nearby and gave the order for the Titanic's passengers to board the lifeboats, he knew there were only enough for half the population of the Titanic. At 12:25 the lifeboats began their loading with women and children first as this was the protocol at sea. Many passengers still did not understand What was going on and confusion and disorganization meant that the first lifeboat to leave had only 28 women and children aboard when it could carry 65 people. First officer Murdoch took the order to mean women and children first then men if they were there while second officer Lightoller took it to mean women and children only.

The Carpathia which was 58 miles away heard the distress call and began sailing towards the sinking Titanic to rescue the passengers. Distressed players were shot into the sky to help locate the sinking Titanic. By 1:00 a.m.. With the lower decks flooding the bow of the ship began to sink below the water's surface. Water was pouring in 15 times faster than it could be pumped out, which was not helped by the fact that many of the passengers had left their portholes open. The unsupported stern and its propellers rose out of the water into the air. Panic and chaos set in as lifeboats were running out, some people pushed their way to the lifeboats while others accepted their fate and stayed behind Or gave up their spots to more vulnerable passengers. Many did not want to survive the disaster and be branded a coward back home. By 2:05 a.m.. The last lifeboat had left, but 1,500 people were left on the ship. The deck was now at a steep height and many passengers fell into the freezing icy waters. At 2:17 a.m.. The captain announced every man for himself. The stern gave way under the pressure and broke off with the front half disappearing to the bottom of the ocean. At some point captain Smith went down with the ship a maritime tradition that the captain would do in accepting responsibility for all on board. Some say he went to the wheelhouse and waited for the end while others say he committed suicide using a pistol. The stern smashing into the water surface became level and sewers started to fill with water Sinking nearly four Kilometers beneath the surface of the ocean. Many died as a result of drowning, but the main cause of death was Hypothermia in the freezing waters which occurred within minutes. Some of the lifeboats returned, but only four survivors were found. At 3:30 a.m.. The distress flares from the Titanic were spotted by the Carpathia. The Carpathia arrived to the scene at 4:10 a.m. and picked up the lifeboats. Only 705 passengers would survive the disaster with over 1,500 people losing their lives. This was very tragic event happened there as many dead bodies were floating on the top of the ocean. Most of them were completely frozen by the Ice Cold water.

Where Did All the Bodies on the Titanic Disappear? Many believe the Titanic was doomed from the beginning. In the panic and chaos, the boats that were available were also misused, leaving 400 seats empty and over 1,500 people stranded. Some believe that these low numbers were in part due to weather. There is evidence that after the Titanic sank a huge storm swept through the area, scattering those adrift over as many as 50 miles. In this case, by the time ships came for the bodies, recovery of many was impossible. Those who still floated beside what was left of the Titanic’s doors, pillows, and chairs continued to be discovered throughout April and May. Ships such as the Mackay-Bennet spent days pulling out those strapped to life jackets, identifying them and tagging their bodies for return to families or for burial. Sadly, even after many were gone, some operations were unprepared for the corpses that remained.

There are reports that as vessels ran out of space, bodies of third-class passengers were tossed overboard in favor of those from first. In all, while a few hundred were lifted from their watery graves, upwards of 1,000 were unaccounted for, never again to be seen. What is left of those who were scattered over the ocean’s surface remains unknown. However, it is believed that a majority of those missing went down with the ship. But he was largely wrong about the nature of the ancient Greek games. The 1906 games' popularity may have saved the modern Olympics, after the two massive flops in 1900 and 1904. However, Coubertin's no more intercalated games were held after this because of a combination of things. A failure to properly prepare for Athens 1910 coubertin's disapproval of intercalated games and perhaps most importantly World War 1. Right before World War one though the first major star of the Olympic Games emerged Jim Thorpe was the Michael Phelps of the 1912 Stockholm Games, he won two golds in the pentathlon and decathlon and the records he set and those events would stand for decades. At the closing ceremonies the king of Sweden presented Thorpe with his medals and prizes and said “you sir are the greatest athlete in the world” Jim simply responded “thanks king”. Unfortunately, Thorpe's story didn't end happily, his simple honesty was in many ways his downfall. The business all starts in the 1960s in the textile trade. Dhirubhai Ambani moved to Yemen from India as a young man to look for work, after a few years pumping petrol for an oil company he moved back to Mumbai and hope to use a few connections in Yemen to create an import/export business. Ambani was ready to put the company on the public stock exchange with their initial public offering. However he took an interesting and new route at the time stocks and shares were far removed from the average person and Ambani wanted to change this, so he got the public excited for the company's IPO and put up about 2.8 million shares. The public took notice and the IPO was extremely successful. In India this is known as the start of the equity cult, where the general public became far more engaged in the stock market. Even today Reliance has millions of shareholders. On the back of the IPO and the wildly success of the only formal clothing brand Reliance continued to grow and then diversified. In 1986, Reliance Capital was established, this subsidiary offers financial services such as loans stock broking and n insurance. Reliance Capital is currently one of the largest financial companies in India. Continuing on Reliance would merge with another textile business at the end of the 1980s and bought their way into the petrochemical industry. This was a way to expand in the polymers that they were already producing. But soon the company had their eyes set on the oil fields themselves they quickly grew into India's largest petroleum company. At the end of the 1990s they built a refinery in Jamnagar, it is still the largest oil refinery in the world. It doesn't stop there though Reliance Infrastructure has been providing power construction and defense since 2002. Reliance Defense build ships has projects and offshore engineering and although politically controversial in 2018 partnered with the French government to produce 36 Rafale plans for India. And then was reliance retail which has 45 subsidiaries including mobile phones, jewelry, electronics, apparel and groceries.
