This was the microphone that brought my voice to the few who listened to the Wandercast. While I had wanted to reconstitute the podcast, it seems unlikely I will start recording anytime soon. In the interim, it only took up space, collected dust, and got in the way. Now it sits, detached, disconnected, silenced, the stand folded. Will it get re-attached? Maybe.
In the photo are the red puma cap, the USB cord for the mic, the encase holding my MacBook. a bag of things I bought at Goivanni's Room I have yet to consider now I have them home, my gym sack, and a basket of clean laundry that has no home right now.

This is a warning shot about the state of the blog and the podcast.
In my drive out-and-about today, I was thinking about what I do with the blog and the podcast. At first, the podcast was to be a supplement to the blog, providing a real voice to the person who writes this. As time went along, I found myself writing less, wanting to ’save it for the podcast’, only not to talk about it on the podcast. Currently, the blog is a principally two things :: a ‘repost’ of my podcast, hosted on libsyn, and my post of the Mutterings meme. Not being the poop culture sort, nor a youtube addict, nor able to express myself politically like my favorite gay right bloggers, I am now feeling it may not be worth maintaining a separate blog and podcast. Also, with the ‘wandercast’ name co-opted by others, it may be time to rebrand that. It will not be a format change.
I still need to think about this. I’ll let you know.

From 2005 October 1, as I was posting podcasts more regularly, I gave my podcast the name, ‘the wandercast’, more or less as a tribute to the fact that my mind tends to wander while thinking. At the time, I did not think about acquiring a domain name or gMail account for it.
Today I googled ‘wandercast‘ and found among my entries two things that gave me pause. The minor one is the Yondercast, in which Shane entitles one of his recent episodes ‘wandercast’. The major one is this, a travel podcast website created the beginning of this year.
Am I unhappy about this? A little. Will I sic the lawyers on this. Most likely, not. Will I tolerate the travel site sending a take-down notice for my podcasts, despite using that name for 15 months prior? No. Of course, they may have sent to me an e-letter, which I construed as spam and ‘filed’.
Then again, maybe this is the time to rework my own podcast.

That your issue with what I create is necessarily my problem, and for me to fix. [though, I will own-up to my problems when they occur]
that I am obligated to give you advice on any technology in existence, even if it is within my specialty or knowledge.
I am able to fix any ‘problem’ you have with technology

insecure paper trail

Tech site c|net attempts to illustrate one of Ohio’s e-voting problems. Instead, they, and the people who created the chart, clearly show one of the the obvious insecurities of having a paper trail for e-voting :: that anyone can deduce who voted for whom from the paper trail far more easily than any other method. Add to that insecurity that the paper trail is just that, paper, which can be torn, discolored, lost or otherwise ‘mishandled’, plus, the recording is subject to the same frauds as electronic recording, you should see that having a paper trail is no more secure than electronic storage.

Apparently, Starbucks nationwide is a public safely hazard, and should be avoided at all costs. First paragragh…

Early last month my father, a retired Methodist pastor in Red Bluff, three hours north of San Francisco, ordered a cup of coffee for himself at Starbucks. Before Dad picked up the coffee, the barista bumped it off the counter. It spilled on the front of Dad’s pants, burning his crotch, then running down his legs and settling into his shoes. Instead of running to get some ice, the barista grabbed a questionnaire.

Matt Smith remembers the 1992 MacDonalds case, and does mention about personal responsibility. If the description of the incident is true, apparently, Starbucks baristas have not responsibility for their customers’ safety. Considering the fanaticism of many towards the company, this disregard for public safety should scare one.
